Two people two.mac accounts can we share directly

I share an office with another company. We work together on mutipul projects and we want to keep our icals synced, but the other guy doesn't want them to be posted on the net. We want to directly sync them. We both have .mac accounts.
The only way I saw to do this was for him to switch to my .mac. and sync his computer as if it were one of mine. He then keeps his calender and i keep mine. But then he looses his .mac capabilites. His computer only sees my .mac. Am I just doing this wrong, or is what I am trying to do not an option.
Also, I have to keep ical running all day because if i close it and reopen it the launch takes like 4 minutes for it to open, and when I sync of the two calenders... (no calender groops and we are not managing on line) it takes FOREVER. I guess I just would like it to run like a networked calender between my 4 computers and his two. All with the same sub calender info.
Is that possiable? we run 10.4.2 on a g5 w/two1gigs, two powerbook g4's, one g4 w/duel 1gigs and and two mini's

  • Using Aperture with two .Mac accounts

I am moving all of my photos into Aperture 2, and we have two .Mac accounts for my office, one for business and one personal. My assistant's machine is set to the business .Mac account and my machine to my personal .Mac account.
I would like to keep all of my photos in Aperture but deploy the photos into web galleries and websites on both .Mac accounts. I can see how to handle the web pages by outputting to disk and then dragging them into the right folder in each iDisk. But I can't see how to do this with web galleries. In the past, I've tried changing the .Mac account in the system preferences and then using iPhoto and iWeb. This doesn't seem like a good solution.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? Right now, I've having to export the photos from Aperture and import them into iPhoto on my assistant's machine and then publishing the web galleries from her machine. There has to be a better way.
    Thanks,
    Alfred

Multiple User accounts are the answer.
Each is independent of the other and stores your iWeb files (on the same machine).

  • Two Mac accounts

With migrating from .mac to MobileMe, my new iPhone 3g has automatically created two Mac accounts.
One is called . . . [email protected] and its description (in grey) is "Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks" while the other is called MAC Account and its description in grey is simply "Mail".
With the first one, under the Account Info everything is ON, with the second one, only Mail is ON and when I try to turn Contacts, Calendars or Bookmarks on, I get a message "Syncing with this account will turn off sync for ". . . ." (my username) and remove its synced data.
I receive mail to both of these accounts and they both use the same address and the same SMTP.
What's the wisdom out there ? Which one of the two accounts can I delete ? Would appreciate some advice.

    OVozeh,
Apple Discussions reputation system is currently disabled, or I would be flagged as an Apple Employee.
If it is the same username for both, it is the same account entered twice.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.
EDIT: Reiterating If the username is the same in both accounts when you look at them it is one account for MobileMe formerly known as .Mac.
If the usernames are different you need to decide which one you want to sync contacts, calendars and bookmarks with.
Deleting accounts from the iPhone only deletes the account settings on the iPhone only, not the account itself on the server.

  • Two .mac accounts - different calendars - same computer

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I cannot find it.
Is it possible to publish calendars to different .mac accounts from the same computer? I have access to two .mac accounts. One is for work, one is for personal uses. I have several calendars for each. How can I publish the work calendars to the work account and the personal calendars to the personal account without changing the .mac system preferences every time?
    Ctd

Yes, that could work, but I find "fast" user switching to be hardly fast at all. Besides, you would lose immediate access to everything else you are doing just because you want to add something to a calendar.
    Any other ideas out there?

I have two itunes accounts, can I merge them?

If you are using a username for your account, you will need to change it to an email address that is required by the system now. If both your accounts are using the same email, you will need to provide another one as you will not be able to use an email for multiple accounts.
    Hope this helps.

You cannot merge iTunes accounts, Apple does not allow it.

  • Do we have to buy two liscense or can we share one?

We are a small business. We need to put adobe suite cloud on two computers.Do we have to buy two liscense or can we share one?

Well the Adobe EULA grants the license to the Customer defined as "you and any legal entity...for example...your employer."
Practically speaking, it's per Adobe ID.
However one of the license conditions is that you cannot use both activations at the same time. So both designers cannot be using the software at the same time. They should each have their own license (each with two activations).
Or consider a CC for Teams license and centrally manage them.

what information exactly do you want to consolidate? you can sever the connection between some info on your device from an icloud account and merge it into another account when you sign into it after, but you can't just merge the two accounts in their entirety. if you're more specific about the info, i can help you out

    Jacky

The second link in ingo's response is key.  If you husband syncs his device on the same computer, whether under the same apple I'd or not, you can share music( each pick their own based on what they want to carry around) and pictures, and apps.
Updating apps can get tricky, as they will only update to the original apple id that bought them.  But music is fine.
You may need to authorize the new computer if he will be using a seperate apple id.  And make sure you don't just sync everything, or one device or the other will get wiped.  If you want to sync only music, they'll that to I tunes in the tab setting for that device.

  • One computer - windowsxp - two ipods. Can both share itunes library?

I have a 5th gen ipod with 3300 tracks loaded. My wife has now bought a second hand 4th gen with click wheel which I would like to share with my itunes library.
Problem is - can this be done and if so how do I go about it?
Was about to restore the 4th gen ipod but I am terrified that this will corrupt my current set up in some way. This is the last thing I want to do.
Can someone please give me an idiots guide to the steps that I will need to take to getting the two ipods linked to the same library.

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing Your Songs Manually

  • Allowing two Macs to see one share via fibrechannel

    Hi,
I would like to setup an xServe + XRAID to share one volume with two Macs. I thought I will be able to see/write/read to one drive from both machines using fibre channel cards in each Mac. I don't need to write at the same time to the same file. But I do need to connect to the same folder or drive and manipulate other files at the same time.
I am getting different answers from a couple of tech people. Some say it's impossible without Xsan and don't think other software solution is reliable enough. Apple Business sales person says it's possible. His solution is like so:
    A. XRAID connected to Xserve via fibre card.
    B. Xserve fitted with two fibre cards - one card connects with two cables to XRAID. The 2nd card connects via one cable to one G5 and via the 2nd cable to the 2nd G5.
So if I have only two machines that need high-speed connection to the raid I can avoid using a fibre switch and he promises this will work.
Anyone has a setup like this? If the above doesn't work what's my best solution. Is Charismac fibreshare a good solution compared to Xsan?
    Any guidance will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    A.

It sounds like your Apple business sales person could
use a little education on the matter.
I'm confused and baffled on the suggestion to have 2
FC cards in the Xserve and use that for bridging. It
will not work, and it is not supported.
To have two Macs see the same volume, you need a
fibre channel switch. However, without software to
manage reading and writing, they will corrupt the
volume, as fibre channel is a block-level protocol,
and does not support locking primitives (file systems
like HFS+ support this for single machines, and
network file protocols like AFP, SMB, and NFS do it
    for sharepoints and multiple machines).
So, for multiple systems to access the volume at the
same time, you need a SAN file system. Most of them
(Charismac's FibreShare, FibreJet, etc.) have "volume
level locking," which means one machine can write to
the volume at a time. This is the WHOLE volume, so
if one of the users is writing files, ANY files,
nobody else can do anything but read. This is a
pain, because if user #2 wants to write, an
administrator must remove user #1's write privileges
before he can write anything. Xsan is a "cluster
file system" and supports file-level locking, which
means you can do exactly what you want.
I will note, though, that Xsan is a bit complicated
to set up, and it really does demand you know what
you're doing, and that you "do it right." To set it
up right, you're talking a minimum of $30K in
equipment and software. You need a dedicated
metadata network, I STRONGLY recommend both a primary
and a backup metadata controller that do almost
nothing else (both would be Xserves), and you should
probably set up Open Directory as well, as it
simplifies things. So we're not talking easy here,
and we're not talking cheap (in the absolute sense of
the word -- though most of the solutions Xsan
competes with are 5 to 10 TIMES its cost).
So what do you get, then, with Xsan? You get
flexibility, and more importantly, you get SPEED. If
you are doing high definition video, with multiple
edit stations, then Xsan is your ticket to
    salvation.
If you don't need Xsan's speed (and by speed, I mean
with HUGE, sequential files), then just setting up
AFP on an Xserve that's connected to an Xserve RAID
will give you very good performance (say, 50+
MB/sec), with none of the complexity, at
substantially lower cost. I didn't see your original
motivation for having the volume shared directly via
    fibre -- what's driving it?
Thanks for your detailed response. I am learning a lot this week... I am baffled as to why an Apple certified person will claim we can connect two machines to see the same share. He also said that Xsan is needed only we want to work on the same file as the same time - not the same share. To answer your question: I was hoping to gain substansial speed improvement by switching our office from Ethernet to Fibre channel. We have an opportunity to upgrade our current system and have the budget for Xserve+xRaid. I was not aware of the file level limitation that fibre channel presents without Xsan. We do some video editing (DV only at the moment) but mostly graphic design (web+multimedia). We deal with large and small files on a daily basis. We currently share files via a simple NAS ethernet solution (infrant ReadyNAS) which provides reasonable performance. However I feel the system is lagging behind compared to having files stored on a local SATA drive. I was hoping that by investing close to $20K we will upgrade to larger, more durable drives as well benefit from faster connection. I also thought this will also allow us to edit from two or three stations directly to the RAID instead of sticking with one dedicated machine. I wanted the video files to be on one big share. so when an editor is done with final cut pro I can work on the same file in Motion or compress to Flash Video, etc. without copying to another drive.
To summarize I was hoping to create a simple NAS with faster speed. But the more I read about this it looks like we need Xsan but that it is too complicated for a small firm. We are also interested in xserve so we can work via ARD remotely if needed.
The way I see it we can do one of three things:
    1. get Xserve+Xraid and have fibrechannel only between them. get a good gigabit router and have files shared by all. I don't know how much faster this will be compared to our current NAS solution but it sounds like we will see some improvement. (we currently all are on gigabit network but I am not sure if the router supports jumbo frames, if all the cables are right, etc.)
    2. get Xserve+Xraid and have fibre channel between the two as well as add a fibre channel card card to one G5 tower. enjoy faster speed on that machine but dedicate a drive that is outside of the main NAS setup - do we need that for dv footage? perhaps just for capturing. It sounds like we can edit footage using ethernet connection but I am not sure if that will sustain capture rate.
    3. risk it and follow what the apple rep said: try to see the share from two machines without fibre switch - either it works or return the extra fibre channel cards.
It sounds like the current version of Xsan is too complicated for us. The question is how much speed we can get via ethernet and should we try to make one machine a dedicated video unit.
    Thanks.

  • Two Skype Accounts; Can They be Merged?

I have two skype accounts, one I set up and could not use, but it has credit. The other is current, and I would like to merge them, or transfer the balance from one to the other, so i can use the pending credit. Does anyone know how to do this? Is there real tech support for skype, or just user community? Also, I Just got a recharge, (when credit falls below a certian amout, skpe can automomatically recharge your balance, and charge you) but I'm SURE I didn't sign up for this. I've de selected this option after being charged $10, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Hi, Valirosi, and welcome to the Community,
I arranged to transfer your post to the Skype Account: Rates & Subscriptions message board as it did not quite fit where you had added it.
Skype does not permit any credit, features, or subscriptions to be transferred from one account to another.  Likewise, Skype accounts can not be "merged" to create one new account, and neither can one Skype account be merged or folded into another.
You would need to request a refund of credit you do not need from the account where you no longer need it, and purchase new credit for the account where you will use it.
For subscriptions and call features, you would need to cancel the subscriptions on the account you will not be using, and purchase new subscriptions for the account where you would use the subscription or feature.
Credit tops up automatically by default; if you do not wish to use this facility, you will need to disable it within your account details.  Check your account settings just one more time ...

Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
I add this information in an effort to help walk you through the process:
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.
If you are a Skype Premium or other eligible customer, you will be routed to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.
    Regards,
    Elaine
