Two phones - one home mac - one office mac - one family .me account

My partner (3G) and I(3GS) each have an iphone, we share an imac at home and I have a powermac at work. Our problem is the fact that Hannahs phone is not showing up on find my iphone while mine is - any ideas?

One item to check which I discovered yesterday is global Push access must be enabled on the iPhone in order for the MobileMe find my iPhone to work.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Push > On.
Also, at Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select the MobileMe account. Find My iPhone is on?

  • Two iPhones, two computers, one family MobileMe account

My wife has an iPhone and a MacBook. I have an iPhone and a MacBook Pro. We have separate IDs on one MobileMe family plan. Up til now when I update my iCal on my Mac it shows up in her iCal on her Mac and visa-versa. But the only way to get that information to our phones is to hard sync each phone to each computer. Is it now possible when I update one of my devices it will go to all of her devices and all of mine, and when she updates one of her devices the information will wirelessly to to all of both our devices? If so how is this setup?

After digging through forum after forum this seems to be an issue with iOS 5, or iOS in general, more than about Office 365/Exchange Online. There are numerous Google threads about using ActiveSync and Gmail that result in the same issue. This really seems to be an Apple issue. Has anyone received feedback from anyone at Apple about this? From those that have on other forums there is just finger pointing between Apple and Microsoft and Apple and Google, none of them are taking responsibility for this.

You need to setup iMessage on one of the two phones using a different AppleID.

  • I have two phones, one (4S) with Bell in Canada, the other (5, soon enough) with ATT in the US. Since I spend more time in Canada, I'd rather the 5 up there. Can I swap the sim cards? Neither phone is unlocked.

iphone 5 will use nanosim instead of microsim so that one won't work
you could check you with carrier to see if they will give you another sim though but I dunno if the ATT 5 will have the right data bands so you might not get LTE or w/e

  • Two phones, one music library, one App Store account

We have one App Store account that we use for two iPhones. We want to sync both phones to the same music library, and to do that we set up two OS X login accounts on the computer that has our iTunes library. The music library is shared between the accounts using an alias. We each have our own MobileMe account that keeps our computers in sync with our iPhone's address book and calendars.
I would call this setup pretty hokey. Maybe it's more complicated than we necessary? It allows us to buy apps just once for two phones, keep our contacts and calendars separate and personal and in sync with our computers, and makes it convenient to put whatever music we want on each of the phones.
We will be getting new 4S phones and iCloud and upgrading to Lion, so changes are on the horizon anyway. I am game to change the setup. Does anyone have advice on a better way to set this all up. I imagine iCloud introduces some new possibilities, and I suspect the way we are doing it now is hokier than necessary anyway.
I'm not interested in guesses about what might work. I'm hoping someone who actually knows what will work can save me from trial and error. :-)
    Thanks!
    Jon

I did some searches before my post, but actually found some things AFTER I made my post that sounded encouraging. If I understand correctly, we should be able to continue sharing the AppleID we use to buy apps and music on all of our devices. We can configure our personal devices and computers to use separate personal iCloud accounts, but somehow share the music and apps with each other. I guess I'm still not clear on how it'll work. :-)

If you're asking whether you can connect one device to two itunes store accounts, the answer is no.

  • More than one family share accounts??

I am wondering if it is possible to be linked to more than one family share plan. This would be ideal for the children in order for them to be linked to myself and their father without 'the adults' account being linked.

You can only be in one family share group at a time : Start or join a family group using Family Sharing - Apple Support
... you can only join one family at a time, and you can only switch to a different family group once per year.

  • Managing Calendar and Contacts for two phones w/ 1 Mac

I am new to Blackberry and its software. I recently downloaded the Desktop Manager software for Mac from the website and have been able to sync both my husband's and my phones successfully. However, I would like to keep my Calendar and Contacts seperate from his. Can someone advise me on how to do this? Also, I have a Web Access Outlook account for my work and would like to be able to add the calendar items to the Blackberry calendar but I do not know how to do this eirther.
    Thanks

    Hi Flojo:
You will need a seperate "screen name" for each Mac in order to video chat. The nice thing is you can get another .Mac screen name by signing up for another .Mac account and and after the free trial, you can keep the .Mac screen name.
    OR
Just sign up for a free AIM screen name here: http://www.aim.com/
You don't need a paid .Mac account in order to video chat!

  • Problem with iTunes and sync two phones one laptop

Me and my partner both have an iPhone I have iPhone 5 he has iPhone 4S he had his before me so he registered with iTunes I wanted some photos from his phone so stupidly instead of just sending them to myself I plugged my phone into iTunes and it automatically took all of my photos and contacts and messages and replaced them with all his stuff is there any way of getting all my stuff back to how it was before ? Thanks

Restore your iPhone from a backup of your iPhone. You can restore from either your iCloud or iTunes backup depending upon what you want to do and what backups you have. To restore see:

  • Two phones one calendar

I have a Droid. My husband has a fascinate. I want to sync my calendar with his phone. How do we do that?
I went to "add an account" and put my gmail information in, but when it completed the only options I had were "sync facebook" and "sync contacts" . I don't want either.
I want to be able to enter information into a calendar and him to be able to see it from his phone and vice versa.
    Can this be done ??
    Thank you

My wife and I both have fascinates and we have it setup so that she shares her calendar with me.  I'm not sure if there is a better way to do this or not but here is how we do it.
First thing you need your gmail account (for both phones) from your PC you will need to share your google calendar with each other.  This will allow you to see each others calendar on your phone if you choose to sync/show that calendar.
The next thing is when you create a calendar entry on your phone you will need to change it from the default "My Calendar" calendar to your gmail/google calendar.  If you leave it on the "My Calendar" it will only be on your phone.
Or you could just add all your calendar events through your PC on google calendar.  It can be annoying having to change the default calendar every time you create a new event.  Unfortunalely I have not been able to find a way to set the google/gmail calendar as the default for creating new events.
    I think that covers it.

  • Two iphones one computer/itunes account?

I have two iphones (first generation and 3g) and I am looking for details on how to connect and setup the phones to one account while still keeping our stuff separate. I really don't want to have two accounts.

The easiest way to sync specific contacts is select specific groups or folders form the contact manager, in iTunes. Each iPhone will have its own specific sync settings. More detailed information available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
If you want, you can separate things a little more by creating an alternate iTunes library or user account. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 was written for using multiple iPods with a single computer but it's the same general idea for iPhones, they are very similar.
You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhone with the same iTunes account and library and each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes.
You can disable automatic syncing for each iPhone, or disable automatic syncing globally with iTunes when any iPod or iPhone is connected.
If both iPhones are syncing contact information with the same compatible address book, you won't be able to keep contact information separate. The sync process for contact information is a bidirectional or true sync process with the supported application on your computer.
If you want to keep contact info separate between the iPhones, create a user account on your computer for the 2nd iPhone for syncing contact information and/or calendar events only. The 2nd iPhone can sync iTunes content only with the current computer user account and iTunes library, and sync contact information and calendar events only with iTunes via the new computer user account.

  • Two machines one app store account?!

can anyone help the newbie here?
i have an account with itunes and an account with the app store both under different names/logins.
i have a mac pro a macbookpro and an iphone.
do i need to log on to the APP STORE or to iTunes using the Mac Book Pro (which I use to sync to my iPhone) or can i pay for and download any apps from either machine when downloading form APP STORE?
thanks for any clarification on all of this.
    newbie...

the first is that i just downloaded an app to my MBP from the App Store using my account. how do i now use this app on my mac pro?
    Look in your Applications folder.
    Which app did you download?
also, i see that my App Store Login is the same as my Mac Forum Login and I am curious to know if this is by definition or if i basically made this happen myself (for instance my iTunes name and login is different).
This is your choice. You can have more than one Apple ID.
Be aware, the apps you download from the Mac App Store cannot be run on an iOS device (apps downloaded from iTunes) nor vice versa.

  • Two devices, one apple id account, want to restore only one and sell

When I upgraded from my iPhone 4 to my 4s, I activated it using the most recent backup file from my previous device. My old phone no longer has a carrier service, but is still recognized in itunes in respect to my apple id. I now want to sell the iPhone 4, and need to restore it to factory settings. How do I perform this task without affecting my current device, my 4s? I am inclined to assume that it will only remove the data/media from the 4, but I want to make sure I am correct before I unintentionally erase all of the info from both devices, which would very definitely cause me to have a stroke. Thanks in advance.

You can erase the device. Make sure you remove it from Find my iPhone as well before you erase.

  • Two iPads two countries one family

I bought an iPad for my parents who are visiting and are taking it Canada, I live in USA.
My idea is to have use share our iCloud and apple ID.
This way we can share apps and photos etc.
Does anyone see a problem with this?
    Good or bad idea?
    Thanks

    Notdabod108-
I do not see any tehnical problem doing that.  It is most likely a question of whether that arrangement is best for your parents.  It could be a matter of privacy or wanting to pay their own way.
Once they get used to using an iPad, they might want to have their own Apple ID.  (They might even want a second iPad with still another Apple ID!)  Most Apps are not so expensive that they couldn't afford their own copies.  And there are other ways to share documents and photos including E-Mail and DropBox.
