Two phones using the same apple id

I use the same apple ID for my daughters phone, hoever i do not want her to have my conatcts, etc... and vice versa but it has automatically copied them, how do i get rid of these and stop it happening?

1. To create an Apple ID, you need a valid e-mail address.
If you don't have one, there are a number of free e-mail account you can get e.g. Google GMail, Yahoo, Microsoft Hotmail.
2. Once you have a valid e-mail address, create Apple ID below:
https://appleid.apple.com
3. You can share the purchasing Apple ID for both iPhone in
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > apple id here to share purchases eg. Books, Music, Apps...
4. All other Apple services (FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc...) you can use the same purchasing Apple ID and your daughter should use a different Apple ID.

will imessaging work on two iphones using the same apple id

It will. If the two phones are used by two different people, however, you will need to implement some careful management of your iMessage settings to ensure that you don't each receive each-other's messages. It is a much safer option to use different Apple IDs for each individual.
On iOS devices, you are able to use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and Facetime, iCloud, and the iTunes and App Stores.

  • I have two phones under the same apple ID and I want to put them on two separate apple IDs. how do I do this?

I have two phones under the same apple ID and I want to put them on separate apple IDs, how do I do this??

If you sign out of an Apple ID under Settings > iCloud, you should be prompted for an option to 'Keep on my iPhone' in regards to Contacts and other related data.  Then, when signing in with another Apple ID on that same iPhone, you should be prompted to 'Merge'.  If you do both, then you won't lose any Contacts, and the iCloud Contacts will then be merged into the new Apple ID iCloud, but also will stay on the old Apple ID iCloud.
In the future, it might be best to post your own question thread instead of bumping a thread that is over two years old.

  • Switching iMessaging to a different phone using the same Apple ID

I'm setting up my old iPhone as an iPod touch for my son.  I am using the same Apple ID for both phones so we can share some content.  But now the old phone is receiving all of my iMessages instead of my current phone.  How can I switch that?

    On yoru iPhone...
Settings > Messages - Send & receive at... and tick only yoru phone #, not your AppleID.

  • HT5622 I have two iPhones using the same Apple ID. I want to change the ID on one of the phones without changing the other. Can it be done without affecting the other devices that use the ID.

How can I change the Apple ID on one phone but the other. Right now they both use the same ID.

    Sure.
For the iTunes/App store...Settings>iTunes/App Store...tap the ID shown, sign out...now, sign back in with the ID you want to use. Be aware, any apps obtained with the old ID can only be updated using that ID, as all apps are forever tied to the ID used to obtain them.
Fir iCloud: Settings>iCloud...turn everything off, including Find My Phone. For Contacts/Calendars, you'll be prompted to keep the data on the phone or delete it...your choice. Then, scroll down, Delete Account. Now, set everything back up using the new ID.
This won't affect any data stored at iCloud.com, or any other devices.

  • Both phones use the same apple ID. How do I change it on 1 phone?

I want to use the family sharing feature with the new IOS 8. My wife and I have always shared the same apple id. I sent her an invitation to join the account but since we share the same user id, I get a message that reads "You are part of XYX family. You need to leave your current family group before you can set up or join a new one".
How does she leave the current family group when we're both set up with the same apple id?

Family sharing is designed to share content between different apple Id's.  Not between different devices with he same ID.
If she is using your ID, then you are technically inviting yourself. which is pointless, as that Apple Id already has access to its own content.
You can go to http://appleid.apple.com  and Create the new Apple ID for her.
Then sign out of the relevant services on her phone and sign in with the new Apple ID.
    On her Phone:
    Settings->iTunes and App Sores->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Facetime->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Messages->Send & Receive->Apple ID
    Settings->iCloud->Sign Out
Though  If you are using one Id and you have no issues with sharing one ID and all the content, I see no need to create a second ID just for a sharing feature you technically do not need.
Family sharing is geared more towards people with different ID's that want to share purchases, calendars, and other content form a single common ID, while still keeping access to their own Apple ID's and its  contents and purchases.

  • I have two ipads with the same apple id but my 3 year old uses one of them, how do i update hers witht he apps she can use instead of everything that is on min as well?

I have two ipads using the same apple id.  My 3 year old uses one to play learning games.  How do I set them up so my apps arent displayed on her ipad?

When you connect that iPad to iTUnes, go to the summary page and scroll down, there should be a box saying 'automatically update' or something to that effect. De select that.
With automatically update on, what you buy on one goes onto the other. but with that box off you can choose.
On the iPad itself, it's under
    Settings
    iTUnes and App Stores
and then you can choose what you want automatically updated between the two devices.

  • I set up "Find My Iphone App" using the same apple id and password on two iphones. Now the app only finds the phone that I did the setup on first. Do I need a different apple id and password on each phone for the app to run correctly?

I setup two iphones on "Find My Iphone App" Using the same apple id on each phone. Now the app finds only the phone I setup first. Do I need to use two different apple ids? If your answer is yes then how do I errase the setup in the second phone and assign a new id?

As TJBUSMC1973 states, and as I said earlier, the Find My iPhone app has nothing to do with your use of Find My iPhone. The app is just used if necessary to locate another iOS device from that particular iOS device. To see if both of your devices are being located in Find My iPhone, log into www.icloud.com and select Find My iPhone. Both of the devices should appear. If they do not, then go into whichever of the devices does not appear and make sure that Find My iPhone is activated. It has to be activated through iCloud, and for both to show on the same map, they both have to have the same iCloud ID.

  • HT4759 can you use the same apple id for two phones on the cloud?

can you use the same apple id for two phones on the same verizon account and if so can you keep there contacts etc. separate?

If you want to keep your contacts and other data you sync with iCloud separate, you'll have to create separate iCloud accounts, which will require different IDs.  If you share the same iCloud account/ID on multiple devices, the synced data will be merged and will appear on all devices syncing with the shared account.
You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the one used for iCloud.

  • How to use the same apple id on two different iphones with different sync?

    Hi all,
I own an iPhone 4s for personal use. Soon my company is going to give me a business phone and I can choose to have another iPhone. I'd love it but I don't know if what I wanna do is possible.
Let's say I will have iPhone P (personal) and iPhone B (business) and Apple ID MyID.
At the moment on iPhone P with account MyID I have application App1, App2, ... App9, I have contacts Cont1, Cont2, ...Cont9, I have songs Song1, Song2, ... Song9. All these are synced on my personal PC via iTunes and stored in the iCloud.
When I'll get iPhone B I'd love to be able to use on it my Apple ID MyID and to sync it with my business PC (so NOT the same one I use for iPhone P).
The configuration I'd love to have would be the following.
    iPhone P
    - Applications: App1, App2, App3, App8, App9
    - Contacts: Cont1, Cont2, ... Cont9
    - Songs: Song1, Song2, ... Song9
    iPhone B
    - Applications: App4, App5,App6, App7, App8, App9, App10 etc.
    - Contacts: Cont1, Cont2, Cont10, Cont11, ..., Cont20
    - Songs: Song1, Song2, Song10, Song11, ... Song20
So will it be possible using the same Apple ID MyID on both iPhones to have this configuration? Some apps, contacts and songs in common and some differents?
If so, how should I configure the two iPhones and the two PCs?
    Kind regards.

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US
Must be a verified email address.

  • My wife and I got Iphone 4S same day 2 years ago. I used the same Apple ID for both. We do not use iCloud, but today after I updated my phone to IOS7 I keep getting her texts on my phone ans vice versa.

My wife and I got Iphone 4S same day 2 years ago. I used the same Apple ID for both. We do not use iCloud, but today after I updated my phone to IOS7 I keep getting her texts on my phone ans vice versa. I turned off imessage in message settings. Seems to have stopped now? Never did this before IOS7. Will I have more troubble when her phone updates to IOS7? Is icloud going to be forced on me then?

This is being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  To separate your messages, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address, on one of the two phones, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID.
