Two projects in one idvd?

Hi all,
How can I burn two iMovie projects in iDVD into a single DVD disc?

I'm still using iLife 06, so I don't know if it is different in the new iDVD. It's pretty simple, but the key is that the additional movies cannot be saved as movie projects. If it still has a ".MovieProject" extension, you won't be able to add it. Only the first movie can be a movie project - at least that has been my experience. So, save the movie as a finished movie e.g., have a ".DV" extension and you can add it.
You can add a movie a few ways - search on "add movie" in the help to read every way. What I do is just drag a file from Finder to the DVD menu. The other way is to go to File > Import > Video and select the movie you want to add and click "import."

  • Combine two iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

Could someone help me figure out the best way to combine two iMovie (HD 5) projects into one iDVD project? I currently have a documentary with one iMovie project at 1 hour exactly. I am starting a second one and would like all this to go on one DVD eventually. I am especially concerned about what happens with the chapter markers already created in each iMovie project - how is that combined when the two are put together? If there is a link for this info, I'd be happy to read that as well.
    Thank you!

I would combine them by saving each completed imovie (without chapter markers) as a full quality QuickTime movie.
Then start a completely new imovie project and import each of those in to make make one large imovie. (But remember, your DVD will only hold about 120 minutes of footage and that doesn't count the themes).
That's when I would add the chapter markers.
BTW-it's going to take up a lot of disk space to save the movie s and to burn the DVD.

  • More than one iMovie project into one iDVD project??

    Hi,
I am editing several iMovie projects which I had intended to put on one DVD using iDVD.
Can I use iMovie to share several projects to one iDVD project or should I use iDVD to import several (completed) iMovie projects to the one iDVD project?
Can I even have more than one project on in an iDVD project?
I am currently importing a large video file to iMovie so iMovie is inaccessible.
My iMovie projects are video only (no menus, etc. until I import to iDVD).
    Cheers

Well, it is recommended that you use the 'Best Performance' default setting from iDVD's Preferences for movies under 60 minutes to get the best quality.
If you want to put 60-120 minutes on one DVD, you have to select either 'High Quality' or 'Professional Quality' Both will give good results; PQ will take a bit longer to do and is supposed to be higher quality.
I usually make movies just under 2 hours, and I always use PQ. I am pleased with the quality of my movies on DVD disks. However, you should know that I am using iMovie 6 and not any hi-def videos (yet ).
David Pogue explained the process of 'Best Performance' and 'Best Quality' (what the option was before HQ and PQ) like this:
Best Performance option allots "+a fixed, predetermined amount of data to each frame of video...no matter how many minutes of video...A lot of the DVD might wind up being empty--if...the project contains less than an hour of video. But the process will go quickly, and the video will look really great+."
Best Quality option uses "+every micron of space on this blank DVD+" because it analyzes "+the amount of video...included+," and divides "+it into the amount of space available on the DVD. The amount of information used to describe an individual frame of video will vary from project to project, and it will take...a lot longer to burn the DVD because+" of "+so much analysis. But at least+" you "+will get two hours of great-looking video per disc.+"
If your videos are short, you might want to try all the encoding options and see which gives you the best quality.

  • How do you import multiple iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

    Hi.
I'm 17, and am trying to create a DVD of when the family went on a cruise. For different places/days, I've created different iMovie projects.
But, when I want to export to iDVD, it only lets me put one iMovie project into one iDVD project?
I've tried dragging the actual iMovie project files into iDVD but that doesn't work.
I know I could export to QuickTime and then drag it into iDVD, but it seems exporting just to iDVD is much quicker, and the quality is better.
Anyone know how I can do this?
    cheers
+P.S. If it helps, it's iMovie '11 with iDVD '09.+

That is not true. You can use them all in one DVD. I have just created my first DVD which has a trailer, a movie with chapters and several different slide shows.
All you have to do is save each project to Media Browser. (Choose Share in toolbar). Open iDVD and choose your theme or no theme. On the right will be all your options such as audio, media photo's etc. Choose your various video's/projects etc and just drag and drop which ones you want to the page and they will automatically put themselves there with the given name of each video/project.

  • Put two imovie projects into one idvd project?

I have been trying for days to do something that seems so simple.
I have two imovie projects with chapters that I'd like to place as two separate movies into a single idvd project. I have tried everything, seems it should be as simple as clicking and dragging from one to the other. But idvd tells me the imovie project isn't prepared for sharing. If I share them to idvd, I get two separate projects. How do I combine them into one?

Best place to combine QT movies is in iMovie itself (that or FCP). However, the following link makes reference to combining two or more iDvd slideshows in iDvd. But one may also add multiple QT movies to the slideshow feature w/in iDvd.

  • How to delete copies in two projects with one master

    Hello,
I drug images from one project to another, thinking they would be moved. I see that it instead made a copy and now both projects have the same image, but they apparently share the same master. When I choose "delete version" with one of them, the message that comes up is "delete master image and all versions", presumably because there is only one version in the project. If I go ahead and continue the deletion, I lose the image from both projects (and the master).
Is there a way to get out of this conundrum?
    Many thanks, Steve

So, that means that if I use an image in an album, it's master is forever locked in location and can't be moved? That seems like a severe drawback.
I know I've moved referenced masters for images in albums without a problem by using 'relocate masters', but you are saying that dragging the image from one project to another will make two versions referencing a single master rather than moving the master?
I don't understand why I can't just delete one of the versions, then. They each seem to think they are the version of the master.

  • Two projects in one zip?

I am using Robohelp x5 generating Webhelp, Windows XP, and
Winzip 11.2. I created a zip of the Webhelp folders/files for
Project A, and then added the Webhelp folders/files for Project B.
IOW, the zip file has the Webhelp folders/files from Project A and
    B. I then unzipped the zip file, just to see if all files I needed
    were included. When I clicked on <Project A DefaultTopc.htm>
to open the help system, the <Project A DefaultTopc.htm>
displays, but the <Project B ToC> is beside it. Putting the 2
projects in 1 zip file caused Project B to override Project A. I
found that whichever Help project I added to the zip file LAST
overrode the Help project that was added first.
Can anyone explain this? Is this a RoboHelp issue or possibly
    a Zip issue?

Why? I regularly zip up both source and output. The structure
    takes keeps them apart.
This sounds more like JayBird is selecting files in the right
hand side of Explorer and zipping them, then doing the same with
    another project.
The trick is to select a folder on the left in Explorer and
zip that, then when you add the next project to the same zip file,
make sure the two folders have different names, then WinZip should
    be OK.
That said, I think it better to have one project, source and
    output, per zip file.

  • Merging six iMovie projects into one iDVD movie?

    Hi,
I've got 6 iMovie projects which I want to burn on to DVD. But, I don't want them as individual movies, but as one movie. Also, I'd like it to be able to select chapters for each project of these iMovie projects on the DVD - is this possible?
    Thx,
    Mont

    Mont,
iMovie doesn't offer a way to combine projects (yet!)... So, the workaround is to either create a new project with clips from the other 6 projects' events, or to use QT Pro to concatenate all the 6 rendered movies into a single one (easy to do with cut-n-paste using QT Pro), and re-import the final one back into iMovie, or import the individual Movies (rendered project output files) one-by-one back into a new iMovie project.
You would then use the Chapter Markers at the top right of the Project pane, and drag-n-drop them at appropriate points on your project clips where you want the chapters to begin. Once you export the final movie (using the Share option - to iDVD, or browser, or using QT), you can then import this into iDVD, which will recognize the chapter markers automatically.

  • Two projects

    Hi,
can we work on two projects for one client at the same time or one after the other, like one for global implementaion, one for U.S implementation. Will they usually have two implementaions seperately or together.
    Thanks,
    Nivi

This depends on a few factors. Here are some. 1) Do you have the resources for multiple projects 2) Are  project components  dependent on the completion of other parts 3) What is the company tolerance for large implemenation versus step implementation.
pls assign points to say thanks.

  • Combining two projects in iMovie.

    Hi
Can any-one tell me if it's possible to combine two projects into one in imovie? I'd like to slot a project between still photos in an existing project.
    ta

    Hi
Yes this has no stream-line function - but
    • Make the insert as it's own project
    • Export out as a full Quality QuickTime movie
    • Import this into Events
    • Now insert this as "Cut-away" in the Main Project
Many complex scenes must be made this way by export/import as many functions etc only can be applied one at a time.

  • Combining two iDVD projects into one

So... I have two iDVD projects both of which are under half an hour and they are both complete. The dvd is all set up, the menus have all been perfected and I like it. Is there anyway for me to set up one DVD and on the first menu of that DVD give the option to go into either of the two DVD's that I have made and have all their menus and everything be just the way they are without me having to redo everything?
In other words, is there anyway for me to just combine the two projects and add a front page that gives me the option of going into either of the two in order to save DVD's and to archive everything?
    Thanks!

Sorry, but no. You need to create a NEW iDVD project that includes the content from the other two dics.

  • 2 movies to one iDVD project

in IMovie '11 I have two movies I would like to burn on one DVD.
    - If I choose 'export to iDVD' 2 separate projects are created.
    - If I export the movies I seem to lose the chapter markers.
Is there any way to get these 2 (short) movies including Chapter markers in one iDVD project?
Thank you very much in advance!

    Start up iDVD.
    Create a new project.
    Select a theme.
Choose the "Media" browser and select "movies"  Your movies should be there and you can drag each of them to your iDVD screen.

  • Burning multiple iDVD projects to one DVD

I have iDVD 6 and I've made 3 family iDVD projects over the last few years. Is there a way I can burn all 3 projects onto one DVD? Maybe a new theme with each project as it's own chapter w/subchapters?
I've tried a few things, but not successfully. If it's not doable w/iDVD6, how about newer versions?
    thx - j

One way is to drag the underlying iMovie projects into the corner of the main menu window of a new iDVD project. They will import as three separate movies and become part of that project. Depends, of course, on how much running time your movies have. Running time for a standard DVD is 2 hours total. Double layer disks are 4 hours.
Another way would be to merge the three iMovie projects into one long project, and import that into iDVD as one long movie.

  • How do I split a project in IMovie into two projects?  When I try to burn a DVD RDL in IDVD, it tells me the movie is too long.

I am running  IMovie 8.0.6.  (OS X Mavericks 10.9.5) How do I split a project into two projects?  When I share it in Media Browser to IDVD, and try to burn a DVD- RDL, it keeps telling me the project is too long.  Do I split it in IDVD and how do I do that?

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • Combining 2 or more imovie08 projects onto 1 idvd

Hey all- I am trying to put two published imovie projects onto the same dvd. The projects are in my media browser and when I try to put more than one in the IDVD media grid it is whisked back to it's window. Surely this combining of projects can be done. I also tryed to accomplish this in magic dvd and was unsuccessful in that mode also. I searched this topic and saw a solution that suggested exported to quicktime, I was hoping to just combine and burn. I have the Missing Manual for IMAC and IDVD08 and will share all included if requested. Unfortunately, it does not address this. thanks mb

I'd suggest you use the QT movie /file generated by iMovie in two separate movie within iDvd, provided you do not exceed 120 mins combined QT playback for both.
