TWO Questions Before Signing Up - Surface Pro 3 + license related

I currently have CS6 and tested it on my Surface Pro 3 and the UI is so TINY its nearly usable. In everything I have read it appears the issue is on Adobe's end for not supporting windows higher resolutions or the calling to scale. Is there a known fix for this I am not seeing in the community? If I buy a license for Photoshop CC will it have the same scaling issues and micro sized user interface as CS6?
Question two is related to the license I purchase. Can I have the program on my desktop as well as my surface with a single license? Look forward to hearing back from someone, thanks in advance.

Two questions about my new Mac Pro

Just got my new Mac Pro up and running and have two questions (issues)
First, I had to buy the DVI to ADC Display adapter to hook up my Cinema Display but now I can't turn the computer on from the monitor like I use to. Is that right? It's no big deal to have to turn it on at the computer itself, just wondering if anybody else is having this happen.
Also, the audio out at the back of the computer doesn't work. I've tried plugging in my speaker as well as my headset and nothing. If I plug either of those into the headset jack in the front of the computer all is well. Any thoughts?

ADC has pins for power control and the power light. DVI does not have these signals so the display's power button cannot turn on the computer when used with a DVI to ADC adapter.

Two questions before migrating to Revel

Hello,
Two questions, please:
1. I chose Photoshop.com because it was the only service which did not reduce the photo quality of the files I uploaded. Will Revel maintain that same policy?
2. If I move the photos, will I need to update any link of any file I shared through Photoshop embed api? (the api.photoshop.com... links I got from the "share button") or you will redirect those links to a new address on Ravel? Will Ravel allow me to embed my pics at all?

1) Revel will retain the resolution of the files when you move them.
2) If you allow the files to be migrated, then any links previously used from photoshop.com will be redirected to Revel and should still work. If you archive the files back to your computer and then add them to Revel manually (not using the migration offer), or if you add new files then you will need to send new links to Revel.

Two questions before purchase ...

I'm close to purchasing the 1.83ghz macbook from amazon (100 rebate) and have two questions:
1) Does it look like Apple has solved the discoloration problem? I've been looking through the posts here and I see alot of people talking about how their June-July purchased macbooks have this problem so is it too soon for the August ones to have this problem or does it look like Apple has fixed the defect?
2) This is not macbook specific. In Office 2003 (Windows based) you can have the "Speaker Notes" box open during a full screen slide show so you can add notes to the lecture while in slide show mode; does the mac version of office 2004 have this feature?

I would advise ordering one direct from Apple to get the latest build. I'm sure some units out in retail channels have bad logic boards in them yet. Also, you will be waiting 4 MONTHS for that rebate from Amazon.

Hello all!
I just made the inevitable switch! After possibly 2 dozen PC laptops and desktops have crashed and burned over a decade, I've finally switched over to the light side and got a MacBook Pro! Now my iPhone and iPad have found their REAL Mom - no more foster homes haha lol. So I'll be moving away from developing for PC based projects and focusing more on iPad apps.
I have been doing some research on the developer registration process and I'd like to register under my business name. Can someone who has gone through the process "recently" tell me how it went? I want to do it as a DBA, I have a nationally registered trademark in my name and if needed I can get a business license and/or resell license. I have been reading horror stories about people waiting months for approval which seems obscene. Can anyone confirm?
Also has anyone here developed "great" apps when coming over from other programming languages? Personally my strengths are in ASP, PHP, Javascript, and some AJAX. So I wonder how long it took some of you with similar programming backgrounds to grasp.

Everyone likes to post horror stories. I always suspect they aren't providing all the information. I signed up under my business name. I faxed my current business license and my tradename registration. From my old e-mails it seems that it took me three days to get approved.

I developed "an" app. It isn't very great. I suggest in addition to the iPhone program, sign up for the free Safari developer program. Javascript is considered a first-class language on iOS. When you realize just what Apple is doing with it vis-à-vis HTML5 and DashCode, you'll see why. Download some of the developer videos and the WWDC2010 videos and watch those first.

So I am about to buy a macbook pro in the next couple of days with these specifications:

After I get the computer I am going to upgrade to 4 GB myself (cheaper). This computer will primarily be used for video editing (I'm off to film school). Here come the questions!!
1. This is probably a really stupid question, but the 15 inch macbook pro has an isight right?
2. I am in need of an external hard drive (or two). I was thinking of getting 1 TB primarily for my video projects, and then another 250 GB hard drive for time machine. Are two external hard drives going to be too much for the computer to handle? What hard drive(s) do you recommend? Right now I am thinking a G-Tech 1.0TB Quad-interface hard drive and a 250 GB G-Tech hard drive (for time machine). Which leads to my next question.
3. I would love to use eSATA with my TB hard drive...but there aren't eSATA ports included on the macbook pro (I think). So i researched and found the 2-Port NitroAV eSATA II 3Gb/s Professional Express Card (34mm). This would work with the computer right? Is eSATA necessary or should I just stick with firewire? I'm attracted to it because I will be editing video with the computer and I would love the increased speeds but I'm afraid it will overwhelm the computer.

2-look at macsales.com, click on harddrives then all things fire wire. they have a lot of different drives ranging all the way up to a 2 tb setup (its 2 separate stripped raid set ups that are then mirrored against each other). they also sell some esata dives, not sure what size they go to but they hae them
fire wire 400 has some crazy top limit of drives you can chain together of like 40some odd so 2 will be fine, i have 2 running right now and no issues. i would suggest if you get the drives form OWC (macsales) you use the softraid program that comes with it.
3- you can get a pci card for the card slot which macsales also sells if you go though them so you dont have to go more than one place

Hello. I just bought a mac (my first one). I plan on getting Logic Pro, but have a few questions.
-Do I need an audio interface to use the program?
-Does anyone use the M-Audio Ozone with Logic? If so, do you recommend it? I know USB isn't as fast as Firewire
-If the Ozone isn't a good audio interface, which M-Audio interface do you recommend? (i might be using Protools M-Powered as well so that's why I want M-Audio)
-Is there a plugin similar to McDSP Filterbank for Logic?
I won't have too much hardware so I don't need too many ins/outs.

Ok well do you have a piano? If you take courses you probably need a full piano unless you only want to do synths and pop music, the Ozone will not do. Do take this into consideration, 25 keys is very very small. The cheapest best piano IMHO is the Yamaha P60; piano playing needs weighted keys.
The audio interface converts analog sound to digital and transfers it to the computer. The latency comes from the transport (firewire, usb, IDE), from the computer (software, operating system and drivers) and from the analog/digital conversion. The audio interface also does the reverse, it provides many outputs for speakers and headphones. It can also optionaly provide MIDI I/O.
There are MIDI only input/outputs too, which allow you to plug in any MIDI device, such as a Yamaha P60 piano for instance.
The controller is usually a piano like device (some aren't, they provide only buttons) that sends MIDI information to other MIDI devices (like Logic, via the computer's MIDI I/O). Synths can act as MIDI controllers but provide much more (such as the ability to generate sound).
The Ozone is both, it displays itself as a MIDI controller through it's keyboard and 8 control knobs, as well as an audio interface with 2 inputs and 1 output. That's why it's good at what it does, it's cheap and compact and does all basic IO. But if you won't record anything, a normal MIDI controller is enough. But if you have monitors, maybe the output from the Mac isn't good enough. In terms of sonic quality the Ozone is okay.

Two questions before installing Yosemite

1 - I have several external HDDs connected to my iMac: is it better that they be turned ON (mounted) or turned OFF (dismounted) when updating to Yosemite?
2 - I am currently running OS X 10.8.5 on another iMac: can I install Yosemite directly without a prior installation of 10.9 ?

Yes - iTunes handles data transfer between storage devices and AppleTV - so itunes has to be running.

Technically feasible yes, but not a function officially supported by iTunes/AppleTV for obvious copyright/DMCA reasons.
Consequently we cannot discuss that sort of thing in the forum.

How fast do the songs load and play? Is the response speed based on how fast my internet connection is?
Will I be playing my songs of iTunes?
The vast majority of my music is not bought at iTunes (CD rips, Amazon). I read iTunes Match will still work with non iTunes purchased music. When uploading such music, will it at least keep the Artist, Album, and Song info even when CDS are not in the iTunes database/catalog? I really would not want to spend hours re-labeling the music.
Is iTunes Match a safe place to store my music and could I deleted it from my hard drive without worry?

Yes, iTunes Match works with tracks not purchased from the iTunes Store. It will even "match" a lot of the music. You're metadata will be maintained.

Error Message on Surface Pro 3 Device

Symptom:
When going to Control Panel --> Mail --> Data Files --> Add --> and add any PST file found on shared network folder, I get the following error message: "Windows Shell Common DLL has stopped working. - A problem caused the program to stop
working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
The only option I get is Close program.

Unfortunately, my IT skills are not good enough to troubleshoot this error message.
Troubleshoot Techniques Taken So Far:
I tried to Google similar issues, and couldn't find any resolutions online.
I've ran Command Prompt as Administrator and ran the sfc /scannow command. The results: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation.
I've also edited my registry by going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software|Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles\ and deleting all profiles.
I've also ran Windows Updates via Control Panel and downloaded and installed all (including optional) updates.
My Computer:
Surface Pro 3
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Enterprise
Attach to Domain: Yes
Running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 64-bit
Side notes:
The user who owns this device is currently using their older laptop that they were previously using before getting this Surface Pro 3 as a replacement. The laptop has no issues connecting to the pst data files stored on a shared network drive. It appears
that this issue is specific to this device possibly.
Can someone out there please help me out?

Basically Network Stored PST files are not recommended by Microsoft.
.pst files are not intended as an enterprise network solution. Although it is possible to specify a network directory or a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path as a storage location for a .pst file, network usage is not meant to be a long-term, continuous-use
method of storing messages in an enterprise environment.

Pen Pressure in Photoshop on MS Surface Pro..

Did anyone get the new update today and did it fix the pen pressure issue for Photoshop use on the MS Surface Pro Tablet???? I know this is an aging die hard issue but man do I need it bad,.....-Joe

I figure I take some time to respond to the surface pro things,.....
@Alanomaly, yes pretty good so far, I can not complain about the pen pressure. MS had nothing to do with it except to communicatge with Adobe, and Wacom..as things go, all three needed to agree on working on this. The driver is through Wacom on their site under the Tablet PC select. Thats it. You load, restart PC an it works.
Now as far as comparing it to Intuos/Cintiq, well, its not a question really. The Surface Pro tablet functions like a PC but is smaller than a 9x12 Intuos and Cintiq, with the exception of the smallest sizes of eother of those. But, I do not use the smaller sizes. I do have a Cintiq 24 HD, love it!!! When Im away, the road, at the shore,..or at work and want to doodle, sketch, concept draw, whatever, Im not using Surface Pro to do full fledged digital content, ..Ill take it home and finish or expand on it.....but I wont divulge my personal reasons for using it , but, that is why I think Surface Pro exists, so I can use it for what I want and be happy. Now, if Wacom comes out w a tablet and its a tablet like Surface Pro, and a user wont need to hook up a Wacom type of tablet to a PC to work on it as a mobile device, then, I ll be rethinking my options....maybe.
Now, I have a Xeon cpu in my machine and a second one when Im ready to use it, and I see the i5 and i7 cpus really taking advantage of the mixer brushes and interactive brushes better than my xeon cpus. I wish to make that better on my machine but thats another story.

CS4 design premium student licensing, surface pro 2

back in 2009 i bought cs4 design premium package(windows) for school. two years later my computer was badly damaged and was wiped clean of all software and never used again. i now have bought the surface pro 2 and was planning on dowloading my cs4 for work on the go, but i have a few questions.
below are a few questions with added detail that i would need answering if i am to proceed any farther.
will i be able to download my cs4 design premium onto my surface pro 2 through an online download if i purchased the disc version back in 2009, or do i need a cd to usb device to dowload the software?
- only downloaded the software once on my old computer before it was damaged.
I lost the coupon/serial code, is their a way for me to find it again or redeem it.
- cs4 was downloaded onto my old windows computer, but the computer was badly damaged and the hardrive was wiped clean.
- before the hardrive was wiped my brother made a backup (would i be able to retrieve the code if l search through the backup?)
- when i first registered cs4 i gave a lot of personal/contact information, would this help me redeem my code?
- purchased cs4 at my schools book store. (don't see this being a problem, but thought i should add just incase)
- still have all the disc's and cd case, just lost the little piece of paper with the code.
will i be able to upgrade my cs4 to a more up to date software like cs5 or cs6 without the code?
i would really appreciate any help anyone can offer; thank you for your time.

No serial, no install, no updates. It's as easy as that. And forget about trying to retrieve your serial number from a backup - that's just not how it works. It's genuine cryptography and you probably missed the critical parts, anyway. For anything beyond that, you realyl have to call support. Yes, there is a chance they may have your details because with S&T editions registration is mandatory to obtain a serial and they should be listed on your Adobe account already. Otherwise just ask them and be persistent.
