Two recent problems.... yeah I know "Upgrade to '11" is probably an answer.

Good day all. Two problems have just recently messed up iPhoto's works.
1) I changed my password for my dotMac account and iPhoto just can't seem to get it and as such I cannot access the Gallery through iPhoto.
2) A book that was successfully published back in September of '10, now is corrupt and crashes the application. Either I need to find the offending folder / .xml / .plist and trash it -or- in some way recover the book.
Any and all suggestions are welcome... and yeah.. I know.. I will ultimately upgrade, but I am not sure that the new version will remedy the problems.

Upgrading is not the answer to either question, and frankly I wouldn't consider upgrading until you've dealt with them.

Delete the entry in your Keychain and try again.
2) A book that was successfully published back in September of '10, now is corrupt and crashes the application. Either I need to find the offending folder / .xml / .plist and trash it -or- in some way recover the book.
The only way to recover a corrupted book is to restore from a back up. There is no "offending folder / .xml / .plist". The database is corrupt.
If you don't have a back up then the book is gone. You can try repair the DB as follows:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Does my problem has anything to do with SSL for mail settings? Cause when I tried re-adding it says something that I should try without SSL, and I did what you said and it gives me this "The IMAP server pop.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field". Ahh.. this is so annoying, Apple what are you doing to me?! Or is Yahoo doing this to me?!

  • Is anyone having problems with keynote after upgrading to Lion?

    After upgrading my system to Lion, my keynote presentations are becoming a nightmare. They crash all the time, and are becoming significantly slower, not just due to the autosave but after making just a few movements the beach ball appears and takes forever for me to be able to edit the document again. When I try to put into presentation mode the computer stops, sometimes I even lost the images inside the saved prasentation, and when I tried to recover from the auto saved versions, they were corrupted also. I talked to the apple support here in Brazil and after running all kinds procedures to check and fix the disk and hardware even in the safe mode, it still remained with the same problem. Another suggestion was to reinstall the keynote, and I even bought a new version from the app store even though the old one was updated. Again, nothing changed. Does anyone have the same problem or knows what to do?

    Hi Thomas - listen, I want to tell you that we aren't necessarily all in the same boat...what I mean is that this problem almost ruined my business and I spent a long time reading the dozen or so threads in this board, and tried solutions people suggested in each one. I had two separate problems...the first was like yours, and it was indeed solved by the time machine save setting mentioned above. The other was that I couldn't get an object selected with a click of the mouse every tenth time or so...I had to click onto a different slide and then come back to mine. I started turning off every single piece of hardware and software one by one, in search of a conflict. It turns out that my Apple Magic Mouse was the problem. I switched it to a plain MS wireless mouse and problem solved. *****, but it let's me continue. My point is that too many people are using Keynote just fine for any of us to throw in the towel and say it's universally and irreversibly broken. There are different bugs in play, but you have to go on the assumption that there's a way out if you can spot what's not quite right. Sorry I don't have your specific solution, but this mindset is what saved me from jumping ship to PPT.

    It is as if the Apple server does n't complete?
    The phone stays in recovery mode, until you reset and rebuild in iTunes.
    All software is up to date, but I can't find the cause

    No error messages.
    It just fails to complete the download, so recovery mode is the next step.
    This can be over a period of eight hours or more!
    I have so many (original) Apple USB leads that I would n't know if I have been using the same one (if it was faulty).
    Does this sound like a "common" problem?

  • Two new problems with the Quicktime Plug-in

    I recently discovered two new problems with the current Quicktime Plug-in for Mac OS X.
    First, the Quicktime Plug-in is unable to stream Quicktime media in any internet browsers other than Safari.
    There is just nothing on the spot where the embedded Quicktime player should be.
    Second, the Quicktime Plug-in only shows the message "The operation couldn't be completed. This file is not a movie file (-2048)"
    everytime it should work together with the Flip4Mac Plug-in. The thing is, when facing a webpage where a wmv or wma file is
    embedded, there only shows that error message on the spot where the player should exist. I first thought that it would be a
    problem with Flip4Mac. So I uploaded about this problem on telestream.net, only to hear that the error message above belongs
    to the Quicktime Plug-in.
    Both of these problems did not happen at all only three weeks ago. The embedded Quicktime player showed up without any problem
    in my Firefox and Opera, and wmv or wma files were streamed successfully through the Flip4Mac and Quicktime Plug-ins.
    Then, suddenly, after some point, these two problems began to occur, and there is no information on how to solve them on the web.
    I obviously tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime. I even completely erased the hard disk of my Macbook, and reinstalled the
    whole Mac OS X. But the problems still remained. I borrowed another Macbook from my friend to check whether these problems
    occur in other computers, and they did occur in my friend's Macbook as well. So they are definitely not the matter of my own Macbook only.
    I think these might be the problems with the new Quicktime Plug-in 7.7.1.
    Please check about these problems and solve them on the next version of the Quicktime Plug-in.

  • TWO Garageband Problems In ONE!!!

    Ok... Garageband has been making me fell not-so good lately as I have TWO annoying problems.  In both, I have been on MULTIPLE projects, and have restarted MULTIPLE times.  I am using an M-Audio Keystation 61 es USB keyboard to record my songs, except for a drum loop that I add in.
    Problem One: At the beginning of ANY song I open (even blank ones), there is a weird organ pitch in the first measure.  If it matters, it is an A flat.  I am in the default key, so I am confused why it is an A FLAT, which is seriously the most random key possible!
    Problem Two:  When I am recording, or listening to my song, it stops on a measure around 40 every time, (unless I am playing from 40 or really close to it) and I can't figure out why this is.  Does anyone know?

    Nope, for problem 1.  This didn't help.  This problem starts even when there is no loops, and even no tracks!
    Number 2:  No, nothing significant starts here.  It's really random, like the 41.5th measure!  I don't know why it stops HERE!   Here are some screenshots (they are pretty normal though so be prepared)

I know for a fact that my number is not blocked by the receipients?

  • Two MacBook Problems - Camera and Startup

    Alright, I just got my MacBook recently, and I have two minor problems.
    1) The camera. I open PhotoBooth, and it just shows a green screen. I used to be able to take pictures, but now all it does it show a green screen. And the green status light by the lens on the screen is on, and it won't turn off.
    2) Slowness. Not majorly slow, it's just not going as fast as it did when I first got it, which was about four days ago. Startup is a bit slow, as is running programs. Can I do anything to resolve this?

    and for the slowness try this applications>utilities> disk utility> select ur hd (not the first one the bottom one) and verify disk permissions and repair them if neccessary

  • Two SCE boxes has died after upgrade to FW 3.6 (but not immediatelly)

    I have experienced SCE error with following switching to System Recovery Mode on two SCE 2000 boxes. I upgraded them two days ago but today they switched to Recovery Mode after unexpected platform reload. Difference between these two boxes reload/crash is only 20 seconds.

  • Two small problems

    During a recent test, I found two small problems: (Win2003/AS9.1/AM7.1(singlewar))
    1) Entering a bogus username/password combo doesn't seem to get logged. I would have assumed it would show up in amConsole.error...
    2) "User Status" doesn't work. (Unless it doesn't do what It sounds like it does). The test was to make a user, login as that user, logout, log back in as amadmin, set the new users status to inactive, logout and try the new account again. Logins still worked for the new user though. Is this not an option to lock a users account? Does it not work on the files data store or something?

    Apple hasn't announced a free upgrade program to Mavericks for users that purchased a Mac weeks before the OS X Mavericks launch, so we don't know if you will be able to upgrade to OS X Mavericks for free. Wait for an announcement
