Two resource groups one on each node.

Hi I am setting up a sun cluster with two nodes and storage.
I want to run oracle and weblogic.
I dont want to run both on the same server as the load matters and there are two boxes which can be used.
I am planning to setup two resource groups with logical hosts one on each box and buind oracle to one and weblogic to second logical host on the other box.
Now my requirement is,,
I want first box to be primary for oracle resource group and second box to be primary for weblogic resource group.
Can you please tell me how to configure different resource groupes to start on different boxes?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Ramesh.

Hi, This document talks about bonding the resources in different ways. But doesnot suggest setting dependency between resources in different resource groups.
To make it little more clear.
I have box1 and box2 as nodes of cluster.
the resources are distrebuted as follows.
-----Box 1-------------------------Box2-------
resourcegroup1--------Resourcegroup2
logicalresource1-------logicalresource2
Weblogicresource-----Oracleresource
I will configure the resources to start on different nodes on startup by providing node list in different sequence for each resource group.
But I want to set the dependency here..the "WeblogicResource" should not start before "Oracleresource".
Can I straightaway set the dependency as we do for resources in same group or is there any other method to do this?
Since I donot have a ready/usable test cluster I am unable to try it before posting the question.
Please let me know the possible solution for this.

    I am using an NI PCI 6024 E board device for an analog output application. Can I generate two independent waveforms, one on each analog output channel? In attach I send a example of my vi to control one chanel, but i need to control both but with diferent waveforms.
    Is the vi correctly programed to this propose?

    Yes you should be able to do that. look at the signal generation examples shipped with LabView
    You can create a 2 D array, with each row representing a wave form per channel. The number of points of the wave form (per row of the 2 D array) represent the number of points in the output buffer
    The wave forms can have different amplitudes/shapes, and therefore they are independent in this sense.
    However, you need to set the update rate,which is the same for both channels. The update rate together with number of points per buffer determines the frequency of the wave forms. This means the two wave forms will have the same frequency.
    To have different frequencies, you need to have say, on wave form with one cycle per buffer, and the other waveform have 2 cycles
    per buffer. in a case like that the frequency of the second channels is twice that of the first channel, and so on
    The two wave forms are then not truly independent, they may have different amplitudtes/shapes, but related in frequency.

  • WinXP with two users - can we have two separate iTunes, one for each user?

    Question:  On my Dell WinXPPro SP3 desktop with two users (myself and my wife), can each user have a separate iTunes - so what each of us does with iTunes has no effect on the other?
    Details:  Yesterday, June 29 2012, I bought a new iPad 3 with WiFi only, my first Apple product.  My #1 motive for buying it is to copy movie files (avi, m4v, mp4, etc.) from my WinXP setup (PC plus hard drive) to my new iPad to watch the movies in bed on the new iPad. I understand that I shall need to install iTunes on both the iPad and the PC in order to move or copy the existing movies from the PC side to the iPad.  (I also understand that I won't be able to use iCloud because iCloud will not run on WinXP, only Vista and Win7.)  [By the way, if iTunes will NOT help me do what I want to do, please let me know.  But that is not my question.]
    I am only one of two users on the PC.  My wife is the second user on the PC.  She already installed iTunes on the PC for her own use.  She is an avid iTunes user.   Most of the time, she does not use this PC.  She has her own WinXPPro SP3 Dell laptop, which is what she uses 99% of the time.  She has also had an iPod for some time, hence her use of iTunes.  And now, for the last two weeks, she also has a new iPhone 4S and her own iPad.  So her use of iTunes will grow.  The important point is the following - whatever I do on my side, I do not want to interfere with or disrupt her use of iTunes.  Not even for a second.
    So, can I install or re-install or somehow set up iTunes on MY user on the PC so that it does not in any way use or affect her iTunes?  If the answer is "yes", please give me a step-by-step and list all details.  Is there a YouTube that shows this specifically?
    More details:  Right now, in C:\Program Files, before I have tried to install anything myself, there are already folders for Apple Software Update, iPod and iTunes, which derive from my wife's installations of these Apple programs some time ago.  I have just now run the Apple Software Updater, which first updated itself on this PC to version 2.1.3.127 and then updated her iTunes on this PC to version 10.6.3.25.  (As a result, the following processes/services are now running, which normally don't run when I am the user:
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
    Also, the following processes will launch the next time I reboot this PC (which normally don't launch when I am the user):
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe )
    My wife says her iTunes is NOT set for Family Share.  (That sounds correct to me, for now and forever.)
    Summary:  So, how do I install iTunes for myself (for the first time) for my user on this PC so it does not - even for a second - interfere or affect my wife's use of her iTunes on all of her devices?
    Thanks !!!

    Mr. Wiclee - thanks for the link.
    When I said I had not "installed" iTunes on my iPad, I suppose I meant I have not yet signed in to iTunes, ever.  I suppose when I sign in to iTunes the first time on my new iPad, I will be required to create a new iTunes account?  Then refer to such new iTunes account when I launch iTunes for the first time on my PC as myself?  Or will I still need to use Method Three in your link?
    The crucial thing is this - when I turn on iTunes on the PC for the first time with me as User, I do NOT want it to connect to my wife's iTunes account.  On my PC, I would want iTunes to ask me who I am, so I can then sign in with my new iTunes account that I had just created on my iPad.  How can I be sure to accomplish this goal?
    In my PC, if I look at Documents and Settings and compare the two folders for we two different users, one for me and one for my wife, I can see that my wife's has Application Data and Local Settings for her various Apple programs.  However, so do I in my User even though I have not yet installed any Apple programs on my side.  I am concerned that when I finall launch iTunes when I am user, it will open up in my wife's iTunes account, which I truly want to avoid.
    Thanks.  Please advise.

    It's a very simple solution. Unless there is another problem you haven't mentioned.

  • Mutliple Oracle Resource Groups Port Question

    Hello,
    In a 2 node cluster, (3.2, Sol10, ZFS), I have a oracle resource group running on each node with the ability to failover to the other. As each resource group has it's own listener, do the port numbers for the listeners need to be different so there is no conflict if both resource groups run on the same node?
    Thx for any assistance.

    That shouldn't be problem if you are having a LH as part of the oracle rg and the listener is binding to the LH.
    Best Regards,

  • How do i run two queries in one worksheet?

    Hi
    I am new to Disco and am finding some things easy to fathom and others not so.
    I have a table with fields
    callref
    logdate
    closedate
    I want to be able count the number of calls logged each month/year and the number of calls closed.
    So, I want to do 2 counts, each count applying a slightly different condition. I would then end up with data along the lines of:
    Month, Number Logged, Number Closed
    which I could then turn into a graph.
    I am assuming there must be an obvious way ...

    Hi Lee
    There's a couple of ways of doing this. I think the simplest would be create two calculations, one for Number Logged and one for Number Closed.
    For Number Logged presumably this is just the count of all rows returned in the worksheet? You can use COUNT(ROWNUM) for that calculation.
    For the Number Closed you only want to count those that have a closedate - yes? If so, this will work:
    SUM(CASE WHEN closedate is NOT NULL THEN 1 ELSE 0)
    Another way to do this, would be to create two analytic calculations, one for each count. The syntax for an analytic count is as follows:
    COUNT(item) OVER (filters)
    The item will be the thing you are counting. The filters can be left empty, in which case the count will be determined by all rows in the worksheet. If you want the count to be only on a subset of the rows then you need to provide one or more filters. Typical filters are page items and group sorted items.
    An example of a count over the whole query is:
    COUNT(callref) OVER ()
    Best wishes

  • How to open two sockets in one single server

    May I open two sockets with different listening port numbers in a single server? For each socket, the way to deal with the inputstream and outputstream is different. May the thread be like this:
    public class twoSocketServer implements Runnable {
    public twoSocketServer() {
    try{
    SSLServerSocketFactory fact = SSLServerSocketFactory.getInstance(rand, selfPrivateKey, selfCertificate, trustEngine, null);
    serverSocket1 = (SSLServerSocket) fact.createServerSocket(ListeningPort1);
    serverSocket1.setNeedClientAuth(false);
    serverSocket2 = (SSLServerSocket) fact.createServerSocket(ListeningPort2);
    serverSocket2.setNeedClientAuth(false);
    } catch {...}
    public void run()
    while(true)
    try
    SSLSocket socket1 = (SSLSocket) serverSocket1.accept();
    new handler1(socket1).start();
    SSLSocket socket2 = (SSLSocket) serverSocket2.accept();
    new handler2(socket2).start();
    } catch {...}
    class handler1 extends Thread {...}
    class handler2 extends Thread {...}
    Is there something wrong with this idea? If yes, how can I correct it? Thanks.

    try
    SSLSocket socket1 = (SSLSocket)
    serverSocket1.accept();
    new handler1(socket1).start();
    SSLSocket socket2 = (SSLSocket)
    serverSocket2.accept();
    new handler2(socket2).start();
    Is there something wrong with this idea? If yes, how
    can I correct it? Thanks.You can do it.
    In the above code block you are going to need two threads. One for each SocketServer. The accept() method blocks until it recieves a connection. So in your above code it would first wait only for a connection on port 1. Then it would wait only for a connection on port 2. And then start over. That probably isn't what you want.

    ether 0:0:0:0:0:1Now I am able to plumb logical hostname ip. messaging resource group is able to swing over between nodes and resource group is able to go online (before creating messaging server resource (msg-rs).
    after creating messaging server resource, use following command to start message resource group:
    ms1@root #clrg online -eM msg-rgI used the following command to create message resource (msg-rs)
    clrs create -g msg-rg -t SUNW.ims -x IMS_serverroot=/opt/sun/comms/messaging64 -y >Resource_dependencies=msg-l,msg-hasp-rs msg-rsBut still having problem in starting resource group after adding msg-rs
    Please advise where I went wrong..
    Thanks.

  • Rs-ora:resource group failed to start on chosen node; it may end up failing

    I have configured two node failover cluster environment using netra a/d 1000 storage. When I try to deploy oracle server application it throws the following error
    rs-ora: resource group failed to start on chosen node; it may end up failing over to other node(s)
    I created metaset and gave one raw did disk to that metaset.
    I created logical hostname resource, ha-storage plus resource. Later I brought the resource group to online using following command
    #clrg online –emM rg-ora
    Later I created oracle cluster resource using following command.
    #clrs create -g rg-ora -t SUNW.oracle_server -p ORACLE_HOME=/global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 -p ORACLE_SID=infra -p Alert_log_file=/global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/infra/bdump/alert_infra.log -p Connect_string=sysdba/dbadmin1@infra -p Resource_dependencies=rs-ora-has rs-ora
    node1 - Validation failed. ORACLE_HOME /global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 does not exist
    node1 - ALERT_LOG_FILE /global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/infra/bdump/alert_infra.log doesn't exist
    node1 - PARAMETER_FILE: /global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/initinfra.ora nor server PARAMETER_FILE: /global/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/spfileinfra.ora exists
    node1 - This resource depends on a HAStoragePlus resouce that is not online on this node. Ignoring validation errors.
    rs-ora: resource group failed to start on chosen node; it may end up failing over to other node(s)
    The status of oracle resource shows as follows.

  • 2 node Sun Cluster 3.2, resource groups not failing over.

    Hello,
    I am currently running two v490s connected to a 6540 Sun Storagetek array. After attempting to install the latest OS patches the cluster seems nearly destroyed. I backed out the patches and right now only one node can process the resource groups properly. The other node will appear to take over the Veritas disk groups but will not mount them automatically. I have been working on this for over a month and have learned alot and fixed alot of other issues that came up, but the cluster is just not working properly. Here is some output.
    bash-3.00# clresourcegroup switch -n coins01 DataWatch-rg
    clresourcegroup: (C776397) Request failed because node coins01 is not a potential primary for resource group DataWatch-rg. Ensure that when a zone is intended, it is explicitly specified by using the node:zonename format.
    bash-3.00# clresourcegroup switch -z zcoins01 -n coins01 DataWatch-rg
    clresourcegroup: (C298182) Cannot use node coins01:zcoins01 because it is not currently in the cluster membership.

    I am really at a loss here. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    My advice is to open a service call, provided you have a service contract with Oracle. There is much more information required to understand that specific configuration and to analyse the various log files. This is beyond what can be done in this forum.
    From your description I can guess that you want to failover a resource group between non-global zones. And it looks like the zone coins01:zcoins01 is reported to not be in cluster membership.
    Obviously node coins01 needs to be a cluster member. If it is reported as online and has joined the cluster, then you need to verify if the zone zcoins01 is really properly up and running.
    Specifically you need to verify that it reached the multi-user milestone and all cluster related SMF services are running correctly (ie. verify "svcs -x" in the non-global zone).
    You mention Veritas diskgroups. Note that VxVM diskgroups are handled in the global cluster level (ie. in the global zone). The VxVM diskgroup is not imported for a non-global zone. However, with SUNW.HAStoragePlus you can ensure that file systems on top of VxVM diskgroups can be mounted into a non-global zone. But again, more information would be required to see how you configued things and why they don't work as you expect it.
    Regards
    Thorsten

    Can Resource Group Virtual IP Address be same as the IP Address of any of the Cluster Nodes?
    As in if my Cluster node (node-1) has IP Address, say 172.23.28.218, then can I configure a Resource Group with the same IP Address, i.e. 172.23.28.218?
    Thanks,
    Chaitanya

    Chaitanya,
    Short answer - no. The physical nodes have IP addresses which are fixed and unique. A RG group can have 0 or more logical hosts (IP addresses) associated with it, one per subnet, that are also unique.

  • Hierarchical query to combine two groupings into one broad joint grouping

    Hi there,
    I would like to know if anyone knows a way to solve the problem below with a SQL querie, maybe using some hierarchical queries or window functions (or anything else in SQL for that matter).
    My environment is:
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit
    The problem is this:
    I have a list of items that are grouped together in two different grouping ways (two columns).
    This gives the ability for items to be linked to other items in two ways:
    1. Directly if both have same value on GROUP1 and/or GROUP2;
    2. indirectly if they have an item in common with at least one match on either GROUP1 or GROUP2.
    The idea is to start from this dataset:
    WITH T AS
      SELECT 1 AS ITEM_ID, 'A' AS GROUP1, 100 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 2 AS ITEM_ID, 'A' AS GROUP1, 100 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 3 AS ITEM_ID, 'A' AS GROUP1, 101 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 4 AS ITEM_ID, 'B' AS GROUP1, 100 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 5 AS ITEM_ID, 'B' AS GROUP1, 102 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 6 AS ITEM_ID, 'C' AS GROUP1, 103 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 7 AS ITEM_ID, 'D' AS GROUP1, 101 AS GROUP2 FROM DUAL
    SELECT * FROM T;
    And end up with this dataset with a one single joint grouping:
    WITH T AS
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 1 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 2 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 3 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 4 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 5 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 1000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 7 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL UNION
      SELECT 2000 AS JOINT_GROUP_ID, 6 AS ITEM_ID FROM DUAL
    SELECT * FROM T;The relationships are:
    Item 1 is linked to Item 2 by GROUP1 and GROUP2;
    Item 1 is linked to Item 3 by GROUP1 only;
    Item 1 is linked to Item 4 by GROUP2 only;
    Item 1 is linked to Item 5 through Item 4 by GROUP1;
    Item 1 is linked to Item 7 through Item 3 by GROUP2;
    Item 6 is not linked to any other item since it does not match on GROUP1 nor GROUP2 with any other item.
    NOTEs:
    - JOINT_GROUP_ID values could be any sequential value. I used 1000 and 2000 just to avoid confusion with the other IDs and group values used to picture the problem.
    - The level of relationship is not restricted to 2 like the example above. There could be deeper relationships.
    This seems to me like something that could be solved with a hierarchical query, but I could not get my head around it to solve the problem.
    Hope one of you guys can help me on this.
    Chears.

    Hi Bruno,
    You are correct. Frank's solution does not work. You can do this using CONNECT BY on smaller problems, but it will be very inefficient for larger problems wirth significant looping. I wrote a quick blog article on this subject after reading your question this morning. This is actually an example of a very general class of problems and I already had three SQL solutions. I'll put the CONNECT BY one here, and you can look at my blog if you want more details (I include a diagram so I can't just post it here).

  • Read aloud EPUB. Group two spans with one id.

    I want two words, each on its own span (each has a different style. That's why it has to be two spans) to light up at the same time.
    I tried grouping them on one span, or div with the same smil id. But it only lights up the first word.
    Any idea how to make this work?
    Thanks a bunch!

    Hi Jeremy,
    The access point only supports to have one BVI1 interfaced configured with an IP address since it is a basic layer 2 device.
    Since it is IOS based you can try to configure an Ip address to more then one BVI1 but this will not work since the AP only supports an IP address configured on the BVI1 interface for managment of the unit.
    Know the access point allows us to configure VLANs and for VLANS to work we need to link each VLAN to an specifc bridge group leaving always the bridge group one that is linked to the BVI1 for the VLAN the access point has an IP address of and set as native VLAN.
    Here is the link that explains how VLANs work on the access points.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_configuration_example09186a00801d0815.shtml
    If you work with VLANs you can have different subnets or VLANs linked to each SSID and each SSID with an specifc security method.
