Two sets of contacts showing in bluetooth device

I have an iPhone 4, iMac, Mobile Me account and Volkswagen in-car telephone kit. I use Mobile Me to show my mail and iCal on the iMac as my diary, the Address Book also syncs with Mobile Me from the iMac. When I tried to sync with the VW bluetooth device it's display shows 2 of every contact, I assume it's reading the contacts from Mobile Me and the Address Book from the iMac.
How do I get the VW to see only one list of contacts which would be updated as and when necessary?

This is the data included with the iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes separately for each iPhone.

Each iPhone can have its own sync preferences with iTunes on the same computer, but it is probably a good idea to disable automatic syncing by iTunes when each iPhone is connected to iTunes to confirm the selections under the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for each iPhone before syncing.
With your wife's iPhone, do not select sync contacts with the supported application on your computer for syncing contacts that you are using with your iPhone under the Info tab for your wife's iTunes sync preferences, and the same for calendar events if you are syncing calendar events with a supported application on your computer with your iPhone.
Your wife can create an iTunes playlist or playlists for the music she wants transferred to her iPhone, and she can select available video under the Video tab for her iPhone sync preferences that she wants transferred to her iPhone, and the same for photos under the Photos tab for her iPhone sync preferences. You can have the same or different iTunes content selected to be transferred to your iPhone under the Music and Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences, and the same for photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences.

  • I have multiple apple devices mainly used between me and my wife , my question is that can i have two sets of contacts backed up to icloud one for her devices and one for my devices using the same itunes account

i have two sets of devices one ipad, iphone and mac which i use and one iphone ipad and mac which my wife uses
now is it possible to have two sets of contacts and calendar synchronised for her devices and one for my devices using the same icloud account
i dont want a separate itunes account as we use the same music books and apps to be automatically downloaded which is very convenient
    please guide

You can set up different iCloud accounts on each device using different Apple IDs (to keep your mail, calendars, contacts, etc. separated), and still share the same iTunes account (in Settings>Store on your device).  There is no requirement that you use the same Apple ID for purchases and for iCloud.

  • Cannot retrieve IPhone contacts on car Bluetooth device

With iPhone connected to car Bluetooth I am unable to access phone contacts but can use phone

It depends on the make, model, year, and options on the car. I have used 2 iPhones (iPhone 4 & 5s) with 3 different cars. Two of the cars were able to access the iPhone contacts and one does not. Some research led me to the car manufacturer's website where they showed which phones and which features on those phones were supported. In the one case it clearly stated that they supported calling but not access to the contacts. You may want to either do some internet searching or reply with the car's make, model and year here.

  • Syncing two sets of contacts on two different iphones using one computer

My wife and I both have an iPhone. We have one computer, and we would like to be able to sync our own contacts to our specific phones. i.e. she doesn't want all of my business contacts on her phone. We run windows, so all of our contacts sync with outlook. Help!

Log in your computer using a new user account. Then you should be able to set up your own contacts and events or itunes setup.

  • Display two sets of buttons separated by spaces

I'm using ApplicationControlBar, LinkBar, and ViewStack to
display buttons. Currently, the buttons are displayed horizontally
    next to one another:
    Catalogue A Catalogue B Catalogue C Catalogue D Catalogue E
I'd like to display TWO separate sets of buttons and ADD
Spaces between the two sets to clearly show they are unrelated:
Catalogue A Catalogue B Catalogue C space space space space
    space Catalogue D Catalogue E
How do I go about doing it? It's sometimes hard to find
    information on Flex properties.

Is the spacer between your linkbar and linkbuttons not

  • Create second set of contacts on iPad?

We are syncing our iPad at work through Microsoft Exchange Server. We would like to have a second set of our personal home contacts that would not be sync'd at our work. Is it possible to have two sets of contacts on the iPad3. One that is sync'd at work and one that is sync'd at home.
    Thanks for any help.
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
You can simply use iCloud for this (or gmail as Pogo suggests).
Exchange for work contacts which you already have set up.
Then iCloud for you 'home' contacts:
These lists sync independantly and can be displayed together (all contacts) or independantly (all iCloud / all Exchange). Once setup tap the red 'groups' ribbon to switch.
Just go to iCloud in settings - http://www.apple.com/uk/icloud/setup/

  • Bluetooth device as input audio source

    hello,
I have a nokia cell phone with fm radio and bluetooth paired with my imac. but I am unable to select the bluetooth mechansim as an audio input to quicktime.
from the material on web, I saw that bluetooth has a serial port setup (rs-232) for data transfer but settings->sound does not show that as an input source and i setup aggregator, but that also does not show the bluetooth device as input source.
pl let me know how to fix this. also, is there any way the imac can receive fm radio signals?
    thanks
    -kamal

That sure seems like doing it the hard way?
Why not just Google your favorite fm radio station and listen to that?

  • No contacts show up after setting up CardDav with gmail- any idea how to fix?

No contacts are showing up after setting up CardDav with gmail. Any idea why?
Here is how i setup CardDav (with no success)
    1. I removed my old gmail account that was setup with the Exchange protocol, checked that my Exchange-Gmail contacts were no longer showing in my Contacts app, then rebooted my iPad.
    2. I setup my gmail contacts with the CardDAV protocal as per google's instructions (which match everyone's instructions when I googed to troubleshoot). Google's instructions can be found here: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2753077 .
    3. No contacts showed up in my contacts app. I have verified all of Google's troubleshooting tips such as ensuring SSL in enabled, etc. There were no problems or error messages when verifying my username and password. I also checked to make sure my contacts were in Google's "My Contacts" group, which they were.
After pulling my hair out a little, removing the account and going through the steps over and over for an hour, I have given up and gone back to syncing my contacts with the Exchange protocol as per: http://support.google.com/a/users/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740 . My contacts show up instantly with this method.
I would like to get cardDAV working, since Google is phasing out Exchange ActiveSync, and CardDAV seams to support more fields etc (although it is not Push sadly).
Any ideas? Thanks for your reply if you can think of anything.

    Hey there AppJunkie ...
I'm having this issue too. The odd thing about it is that when using my iOS devices, all of the contacts (and other address books) all show up exactly as I expect and want them to. Now, on Mac OS X, that's a different story. There doesn't seem to be the same functionality between the two Apple operating systems.
Quite frustrating, as I have clients who expect these to work with no problem on their Mac desktops, since their mobile devices work perfectly. They let me know their mobile devices work, and they want the problem fixed. I have nothing I can say or even suggest. It is very discouraging.
I have not been able to find any fix or workaround for this, unfortunately.

  • I have an Ipad and an Ipod Touch 5th gen both on the latest firmwares but they won't connect via bluetooth whenever I try even though both shows that the devices are discoverable. I need help!

I have an Ipad and an Ipod Touch 5th gen both on the latest firmwares but they won't connect via Bluetooth whenever I try even though both shows that the devices are discoverable. I also tried connecting them with my Bluetooth enabled laptop but it also didn't worked. Because of the Bluetooth not working I also can't enable airdrop.

    AirDrop requires:
    What you need
To share content with AirDrop, both people need one of these devices using iOS 7 or later, or a Mac with OS X Yosemite:
    iPhone 5 or later
    iPad (4th generation or later)
    iPad mini
    iPod touch (5th generation)
You also need to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you want to share with your contacts, sign in to your iCloud account.

To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need the Mac models listed below with Wi-Fi turned on and OS X Lion or later installed.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*

Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
*The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.
For help identifying your Mac, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. You can refer to the Apple Support website to find out if your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch includes a lightning connector.

  • I am trying to set up two-factor authentication but none of my devices appear listed.

I am trying to set up two-factor authentication but none of my devices appear listed. I am only given an option to add an SMS-enabled device. When I do this, I receive an SMS with a code, but have no way to continue in the browser. I have enabled find my iPhone on at least one device, and can see all my devices in the find-my-iPhone app. Am I missing something?

As a check, this page walks you through the process:
    http://technofyi.com/2013/03/21/how-to-enable-apples-two-step-verification-featu re/
His step 6 shows the 'Step 1 of 4' page where you should click 'Add an SMS-capable phone number'.
His step 7 shows the 'Add a phone number' window where you can enter the phone number and click 'Next'. The phone should then receive the code by SMS.
His step 8 shows the 'Verify Device' window which should appear automatically in which you can enter the code.
Are you not seeing the window in step 8? if this is not popping up automatically then something is going wrong: you could try clearing your browser's cache and trying again. If it still won't work you may have to contact Support: Go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services', then ' 'iTunes', and then 'iTunes Store', then 'Account Management' then 'Apple ID account security' - this seems to be the nearest relevant option.

  • Lost ability to set up bluetooth devices

I'm running OS X 10.9.4 on my iMac. I have a Bluetooth keyboard which pairs at startup without problem. I also have a Bluetooth device for my hearing aids (UDirect2 from Unitron) which should allow me to stream the sound from my Mac wirelessly via this device to my hearing aids. When I first got the device I successfully paired it and got it to work. For a while it appeared in the list of Bluetooth items in the dropdown Bluetooth menubar menu, but it's disappeared from the list. I haven't been able to stream computer audio to my hearing aids since it disappeared.
Everything I've seen tells me I need to choose the "Set up Bluetooth Device"  menu option. But that option has disappeared from my Bluetooth menu. It's also not present on the Bluetooth menu I can get to through System Preferences. I know it used to be there, because I've used it before, but not since I updated the OS. Online help refers to the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, but there is no item on my computer by that name, and the Apple site after referring to it simply shows the Preferences pane, which does not include the "Set up Bluetooth Device" command on it--at least on my computer.
Is there something I'm missing? How can I get the setup command back?
The UDirect 2 pairs successfully with my iPhone and streams sound from it, so I know it's working. It rests in its charging cradle when I'm not actually using it and its power light shows it's fully charged.
    It is turned on.

Same here. I've just had a replacement iPhone and I have been into the bluetooth settings to pair it with my MacBook. But I couldn't find the setup bluetooth device option anywhere. Going to the folder Eric mentioned above works, but I'm curious to know where the correct link has gone?

  • I have 3 email accounts.  My contacts show for the gmail but not the other two.  How do I get those addresses?

I have three email accounts.  My gmail contacts show on my new ipad , but not the other two.  How can I get these contacts on my ipad?

The received emails should show in two locations:
    1. In the All Inboxes tab of Mail.
    2. The Inbox for each mail account,
If your emails are not showing in these locations try quitting the mail app and then reset your iPhone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal.
To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
