Two-sided printing from safari

i have a new iMac and HP Officejet Pro k550 (network connected)
the printer is capable of two-sided printing and works fine with word, mail, etc. ... but not with safari. the two-side option is greyed-out and cannot be selected.
is this a problem with my set-up configuration or safari? it's not the printer because it works fine with other apps.

You're welcome.
Strange you can print 2 sided on some sites, but not others. I don't believe the web site dictates whether this is OK or not. It would be simply a function of multiple pages being processed, and the driver supporting 2 sided printing relative to a specific application.

  • Two sided printing from a Macbook Air

I switched from a Thinkpad to a Macbook and got a new HP laserjet 1102 wireless printer (because my old one that I used with my Thinkpad died).  I cannot figure out how to get set up to print 2-sided.  It was so easy on the Thinkpad.  Help!

    Hi,
Follow the steps below to print a manual two-sided print jobs:
From the file used to print click the File menu and select Print.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Press on Show Details to show any available print option.
Click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
Select Manual Duplex and set the optios accordingly.
If you are not being prompt to reload the page place the printed pages faced down in the inpuf tray, then open and close the top cartridge access door to resume the print job and complete the other side.

  • Two sided printing directly from finder?

    Hello all
I am having trouble with two-sided printing directly from the Finder on a shared printer over Airport.
I know that I can highlight a file in the finder, then hit CMD-P and it will print the document for me (opening up the program that created it - be it Pages or Word).  I can select multiple files and print them this way.
What I *can't* do is get a two-sided document this way.
I have setup a preset for two-sided printing and set it as default.   It doesn't matter what program created the document - it just won't duplex print.  I have gone into CUPS and set the printer default as two-sided along the long edge.
My printer is a Brother HL-2240D, connected to an iMac running 10.6.8.  I am attempting to print files from a Mac Pro (1,1) running 10.7.5, over my Airport network.  I can print two-sided by opening the file in the word processor (Word or Pages) and using the Print dialogue, but I can't do it from the Finder.
    Can anyone please help?

I forgot to add - I have set up a duplex preset on the iMac (server) as well.  I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not...
    thanks!

  • How to STOP default two sided printing

I have a macbook air (2013) and a Canon 8350 all in one laser printer...it ALWAYS defaults to two sided printing and I NEVER want to print two sided as I print for business and have no use for it...I often forget to uncheck it and thus end up wasting paper and ink.
I have looked through all the settings and cannot figure out how to get it to NOT default to two sided printing. I know I can save the settings, however it doesn't default to that new profile, so I would have to select the profile every time to change it, which makes no sense as a solution (I still have to remember to do it EVERY TIME).
Anyone know of a way to stop this behavior?

You can change the default via CUPS, which is the core printing system of OS X.
Open Safari and enter the following URL
    http://localhost:631
By default on 10.8, access to the CUPS page is blocked. To enable it, open Terminal and type "sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes" (without the quotation marks). Enter the admin password when prompted and then refresh the Safari view.
With the CUPS web page open, select the Printers tab and then select the printer you want to modify. Then from the Administration drop menu, change to "Set Default Options".
This will show a new page with four menu headings (links); Options Installed, General, Banners and Policies. Select General.
Scroll down the list until you see the Print Style menu. Change it from 2 Sided to 1 Sided and then scroll down the page until you see the Set Default Options button.
Click on this button to save the change. You will then be prompted to authenitcate to CUPS.
Enter the account name and password that has been set as the admin for this Mac. And then press the Log In button. You will then see another page stating that the information change is completed.
You can now check that the change has been successful by selecting to print this page from Safari. With the correct printer selected, change to the relevant menu to ensure your modification has worked.

  • Two sided printing envy 120

New printer that should be automatically doing two sided printing.
But in Word I have to select two sided printing each time.
How do I make it a default?
    Thanks.

    Hi  @envy120user
Mac is very different from Windows. With Mac there is no simple way to create defaults. You can create a preset, and then simply select that preset each time you want to print, or yes, you can go into the CUPS to make changes. It is a little more complicated but not hard to do. CUPS is Apple’s printing system.
Open your Internet browser and enter the following (or click on it): http://localhost:631/printers which will take you to a list of your printers.
If you get a message that states Web Interface is disabled, close the window, open Terminal by typing Terminal in Spotlight, or Navigate to /Applications/Utilities and double-click on Terminal.
    In Terminal enter 'cupsctl Webinterface=yes'
Now you can open Safari again and go to http://localhost:631/printers.
The screen will now look something like the image below, choose your printer.
With the printer selected you see see the following,
When you choose Set Defaults, you will see a screen something like this,
Once you have completed this, you can close the browser and return to Terminal. This time in Terminal you can enter 'cupsctl Wbinterface=no'.
Please let me know if this resovles your inquiry. Thanks.

  • HP LaserJet P1005 Two-sided printing not working on network

    Good day!
I have a desktop, with Windowx XP, to which my LaserJet P1005 is connected via USB. My wife has a laptop, with the same Windows XP, from which she can print, but the two-sided option does not work right. She can check it and print, but the window to restart printing for the second side does not open and there is nothing we can do at this point.
I have trie duninstalling the printer from both computers and reinstalling the newest drivers, it still won't work.
    Thanks for your help!

I have an HP PhotoSmart 2575 All-in-One with the latest HP driver that displays the two-sided printing option greyed-out in the Layout window. According to HP, your printer must be capable of accepting an optional two-sided printer tray to work on a Mac. To me that is ludicrous since in Windows the driver supports manual two-sided printing.
To get around this, I select the Paper Handling window and from the Pages to Print drop-down list select Odd only instead of the default All Pages. After clicking the print button the odd pages print starting with the last page and ending with the first. I then remove all paper and reinsert the printed pages with the top of the page facing the printer. First, though, I reorder the pages with the first page on the bottom and the last page on top. If the total number of pages is an odd number, I remove the last page from the inserted stack, as that is the very last printed page. I then select Even only from the Pages to Print drop-down list and click print again.
    Problem solved.

  • HP Photosmart c3180 Two-sided Printing

I have been advised by HP support that it is not possible to use the two-sided printing feature on this printer with Mac, although it works perfectly on my PC. Does anyone know of a way to enable this feature on Mac or some workaround?

One way to do this would be to run Windows in Parallels or some other partition environment, and print from Windows on your Mac.

  • HP Deskjet 970cxi two sided printing

I've got an HP Deskjet 970cxi printer connected to a print server on my LAN.
I'm able to print to it from Leopard with no problems. Just works with the Leopard "HP Deskjet 970C - Gutenprint v5.1.3 drivers".
However, I can't figure out how to enable the duplex unit in the Leopard drivers.
When I goto the layout settings in the printer driver the "two sided" printing option is grey out.
How can I tell the drivers that I have a duplex unit to enable this option?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I have the same printer connected to a D-Link DP-300U print server. I get full access to the printer's settings, including duplex and photo settings, by using the HPIJS driver, which is an open source driver put out by HP. You can find a link to the OS X version of the driver at:

  • HP L7760 two-sided printing not working

I have an HP Officejet Pro L7760 which does two-sided printing, or it did until I upgraded from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5. I have reset the printer system, downloaded & installed the latest printer software from HP. I called HP. I called Apple.
I see the Apple website says the latest HP printer driver is 1.1.1. When I bring up Print & Fax, it says my printer driver is 2.3.1.
Does anyone know how to get back the two sided printing? Which driver version is correct? Any thing I can try?

  • How do I select two-sided printing on LaserJet Pro 200 Color?

How can I print documents with two-sided printing with LaserJet Pro 200 color printer. I have Mac )S X 10.10 Yosemite.

    Hi @jleo ,
I see that you would like to know how to select the two-sided printing. I would be happy to help you, but I will need some more information.
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Are you using the Full Feature HP Software and Drivers or the Apple Update drivers?
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
Depending which printer you have and what drivers you are using, usually from the application you are printing from, go to File, Print, click on the Layout in the dropdown and you might have one also listed for Manual Duplex option, you should be able to select the two-sided setting there.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Two sided printing HP Officejet 4630

How to use the two sided printing with the HP Officejst 4630. I see how to use two sided copy.

    Hi,
It has a duplexer that means you can print both sides automatically. Please try (from page #10 of its manual):
To print on both sides of the page
    1. On the File menu in your software, click Print.
    2. Make sure your printer is selected.
    3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
    4. Select the appropriate options.
        ● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the Tray Selection area, and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area.
        ● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the Paper Size drop-down list.
    5. On the Layout tab, select Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list.
    6. Click OK to print.
    Regards.

  • Two sided printing with wordperfect HP Photosmart 6515

Any ideas how to set up two sided printing with wordperfect documents using  HP Photosmart 6515

    Hello,
You should be able to print on two sides using this method for your product:
NOTE:You can print your document on both sides of the paper, instead of just one side. Click on the Advanced button on the Paper/Quality or Layout tab. From the Pages to Print drop-down menu select Print Odd Pages Only . Click OK to print. After the odd numbered pages of the document have been printed, remove the document from the output tray. Reload the paper in the input tray with the blank side facing up. Return to the Pages to Print drop-down menu and then select Print Even Pages Only . Click OK to print.

  • Two sided printing on HP with Yosemite no longer available?

Since updating my iMac to the latest Yosemite, (10.10.2) my HP all in one C6280 printer does not even offer the option of two sided printing.  Is there a way to get this feature back? The printer used to do two sided printing, and the option used to come up, but no longer seems to be there.  I read several posts which suggested renaming a preset, but in the preset dialog box, it indicates that this is no longer an option.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

If it's greyed out, it could mean that your device does not support duplex printing under OS X.  One thing you could try if you haven't already is remove the printer entirely then add it back in again.  The drivers that Apple supplies are the latest drivers for this device, there are no full-featured drivers available for this OS version.
Also, verify that you are using the proper steps for manual duplex printing:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-6500A-e-All-in-One-Printer-seri es---E7/4083974/model/4083869/document/c…
If that doesn't work, you could try this two-sided printing application from HP:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL35975/mp-88750-2/HP_Two-sided_Printi ng.dmg
If the above doesn't work, I think an email to HP support is in order.  I suspect that they dropped support for duplex printing for your device with the later OS versions.  When was the last time you had duplex support?  Was it automatic or manual (i.e. you had to flip pages and print again)?

  • Two-sided printing with HP C7280 all-in-one?

    Howdy all!
I just bought an HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one. While ordinary printing works fine, I see no way to do two-sided printing with the current driver. (The accessory is already installed by default.)
Has anyone managed to get this to work?
    Thanks!

    Hi Randy,
Yes the upside down issue was fixed for me, but only when I manually downloaded and installed the latest HP print drivers from Apple support directly. Apparently the automatic update doesn't recognize the network printer, so it won't download the drivers. I can't remember the exact driver I downloaded and installed, but it was the latest that included the All In One 7200 series. This is the latest I could find, and I believe it was what I downloaded
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/hpprinterdriver11.html
    I hope this helps you!
