Two SSIDs; different VLANs; second VLAN can't talk to Internet

I've got an ASA 5505 firewall with internal interface 192.168.65.1 on port 1 and a WAP connected to port 5 with the address 10.10.1.1. The WAP has two SSIDs configured; one is on VLAN 1 and the other on VLAN 14. The firewall has port 5 configured as a trunk for VLAN 1,14 and the interface was configured a VLAN 14.
If I connect to the WAP using the SSID on VLAN 1 I get an address of 192.168.x.x from our internal DHCP server and have full connectivity to the internal and external networks. If I connect to the SSID on VLAN 14 I get an address of 10.10.1.x from the firewall DHCP server but am unable to connect to anything.
When connecting to the SSID on VLAN 14 I want to be able to access the external interface but not anything internally. I have configured a firewall access rule to allow 10.10.1.0/24 to outside and deny 10.10.1.0/24 to 192.168.0.0/16 but this hasn't worked.
Any ideas?

You need to configure an IP helper on the appropriate VLAN interface(s). Routers, by default, will not forward broadcast packets. Since DHCP client messages use the destination IP address of 255.255.255.255 (all Nets Broadcast), DHCP clients will not be able to send requests to a DHCP server on a different subnet unless the DHCP/BootP Relay Agent is configured on the router. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will forward DHCP requests on behalf of a DHCP client to the DHCP server. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will append its own IP address to the source IP address of the DHCP frames going to the DHCP server. This allows the DHCP server to respond via unicast to the DHCP/BootP Relay Agent. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will also populate the Gateway IP address field with the IP address of the interface on which the DHCP message is received from the client. The DHCP server uses the Gateway ip address field to determine the subnet from which the DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPREQUEST, or DHCPINFORM message originates.

  • Same SSID, different vlans

    I currently have a 4402 in place, with my main office building working fine.
    We are looking at bringing in the wireless at 4 other sites, but we want to use the same SSID.
    How would I go about assigning different vlans (networks) to the same SSID.

    You can use the "AAA Override" feature on controller. You need to have different dynamic interfaces for different vlans configured on the controller. After sucessful authentication, radius server could pass the dynamic interface information to the controller and controller can put users to different vlans according to the feedback from radius server:

  • New VLan can't talk to DHCP server

    We have just created a new vlan (172.18.1.0/24 vlan 3) on our network and we are trying to use an exsisting DHCP server (192.168.0.1 vlan 8) But the clients on the 172.18.1.0 network can't connect to this DHCP server on vlan 8. My questions are.
    1. Do we need to specify vlan 3 on the switchport that the DHCP server is plugged into?
    2. Is there something @ L3 we need to enable to pass these DHCP server messages too across these vlans?
    Has any used DHCP servers on different subnets?
    Any info would be great.

  • Can router dhcp different addresses to different vlans for wireless clients

    is it possible for the router to hand out different ip's to wireless clients on different vlans?

    Yes, the router needs to have a dhcp pool on each subnet and have an "interface Vlan x" for each vlan. It will then assign ips to clients in different vlans.
    One vlan per SSID.

  • Map 300 different VLANs to a SSID?

    Hi Everyone,
    I've just come across a situation where the customer requires to have their 300 different VLANs (they got 300 stores across AU) to be mapped to the same SSID. I know this is doable by creating an interface group on the WLC that contains all 300 VLAN interfaces, then map the interface group to the SSID. However, is there a better way to do it? I meant I don't think creating 300 interfaces on the WLC is a good idea from a managment point of view.
    Thanks you in advanced for your time and for sharing your wisdom.
    Regards,
    Nhan.

    Hi Nhan,
    This post in Small Business Forum and you need to address this in Enterprise Level Forum.
    Thank you.

  • Single VLAN can have different subnets????????

    single VLAN can have different subnet

    Hi Devang,
    Yes your single vlan can have different subnet but they will not talk to each other on ip (layer 3) till the time you configure routing on your layer 3 device using secondary ip address on same logical interface.
    But your answer is yes single vlan can have different subnet.

  • Re:Can't able to access shared folders from different VLANs in SG300 series switches

    Hi All,
    I supplied 3 numbers of SG300 series switches for the sole reason to have inter-vlan routing. I created 4 VLANs in the switches and made one switch as Layer 3 switch and other 2 as Layer 2 switch. Inter-Vlan routing is working fine. I am able to ping PCs from different VLANs. But I am not to access shared folders. Customer has installed Window 2003 server installed and it is in VLAN 1. There are some folders created in this server and it is very important for users to have access to the folders.Also, I am not able to access shared folders in other VLANs. I have created a case with Cisco small business and I got a reply saying that the switches will not support shared folder feature, which I think is not real. I am getting a very time to implement this solution in the network. I have a Sonicwall firewall after Core switch which is connected to ISP.
    ISP<----->Sonicwall FW<----->Core Switch<------>Layer 2 switch<------>Layer 2 switch
    Kindly help me out to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Prashant K

    Hi Prashant,
    I think you're running into a Windows firewall issue. SMB file sharing, by default I believe, is only allowed on your local subnet. Please try disabling windows firewall on the computer hosting the shared folder, then see if you can access the shared file.
    Best,
    David

  • Setting up Multiple SSID's & VLAN

    I have a Cisco 1230 AP along with a Sonic Wall TZ 210 and a Linksys SFE 2010P switch. On my AP I have created 2 SSID's. and 2 VLAN's. The first SSID is being broadcasted and has WPA encryption on it for our Corporate USers. The Second SSID is a Guest SSID and too is being broadcasted. I can make a laptop connect to the 1st SSID, but for some reason the 2nd SSID nothing will connect to it.  The first SSID is associated to VLAN1 and the 2nd SSID is associated to VLAN2. VLAN1 has WPA encryption on it. VLAN2 is setup as Open and no Encryption. Any ideas?
    My next question is how to I configure traffic on this AP with the other equipment mentioned? On my sonicwall we have segmented port6 on it to be a different subnet from the corporate subnet. On the Linksys switch I have enable VLANS on port2 and port48 which are on VLAN2. All other ports are on VLAN1. The AP connects to Ports 2 on the linksys switch and port 48 connects to port 6 on the Sonic Wall. When a corporate user connects to SSID1 I want them to be able to connect to the Corporate subnet. When a guest connects to SSID2 I want them to connect to the segmented guest network to only have Internet Access.
    Hope this makes sense!
    Below is my config on the AP. I am really only familiar with the IOS web interface so if you can explain it using that I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
    if you remove "encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip" from the radio interface does it help?
    it should remain like this:
    interface Dot11Radio0
    no ip address
    no ip route-cache
    encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip
    ssid WLAN_Corporate
    ssid WLAN_HartKitGuest

  • SSID and Vlans

    I can to have two SSIDs for all branch of my country, but each ones in a differents subnets,for example:
    Area 1
    SSID 1 : guest -> 192.168.1.1
    SSID 2 : office -> 192.168.2.1
    Area 2
    SSID 1 : guest -> 192.168.3.1
    SSID 2 : office -> 192.168.4.1
    I have configured AP-Group, and this works succesfull but only with one SSID, I need two SSID, each one associated a multiples vlans, when the user are connect to SSID guest they receive the correct ip from the subnet corresponding,(Area1 ip address of host is 192.168.1.X and the Area 2 the usuer receibe the address 192.168.3.X both using the same SSID "guest"), How I can reach this requerimients using two SSID?. Using Ap-Group or there is other methods.

    AP Group VLANs are used in a setup where a Universal WLAN (service set identifier [SSID]) is required but clients need to be differentiated (placed on different interfaces configured on the WLC) by virtue of physical LAPs they associate with. Refer URL

  • WAP321 - Captive portal in 2 different VLAN

    Hi,
    I have a Wap321 installed in my network.  IP: 192.168.0.36 - VLAN 1
    If I'm in the local area network, I do not have any problem to use the wireless.
    I just added a guest VLAN for people who need Internet connection without LAN access. So I setup a second SSID and tag it with vlan 50. I can access to Internet.  But If I want active the captive portal, I'm unable to access to it because the adress is in the VLAN 1 (or 192.168.0.36).
    How I can setup my Wap321 to have the captive portal in the VLAN 50, not in the VLAN 1?
    Thank you
    Alex

    Hello Alexandre,
    If you have a router upstream, please make sure that you have enabled inter-vlan routing in there. Also, on the WAP321, please configure the router's VLAN 1 IP address as the default gateway. With these settings, you should be able to use Captive Portal for both VLAN 1 and VLAN 50.
    Hope this helps.

    Nagaraja

  • Multicast Does not work between different VLANS

    Hi johnd...
    Im using VLC 1.1.2 (i can not update because i have a DVDT2 card to capture the digital terrestrial television and it only work in this version). I have all the firewalls down.
    This is the output for the show ip igmp snooping groups on the 2960.
    80        230.0.0.50               igmp        v2          Gi1/0/21, Gi1/0/24
    Port G1/0/21 is where the receiver is conected and the 24port is the trunk.
    Jon, i revert and this is the output. I put the ip pim rp-address the same of the lookpback that i create previously.
    (*, 230.0.0.50), 00:37:46/00:02:19, RP 192.168.230.230, flags: SJC

      Outgoing interface list:

    The strange thing is that I have more than 40 vlans and it only fail in some vlans like 80.

  • 1300 bridge with native and management vlan in different vlans

    Hello,
    We are going to set up a wireless bridge between two 1300 accesspoints. In our network the native vlan and the management vlan are different vlan's. Will we be able to manage the ap and switch at the "remote" site? Do we have to set up two ssid's, one for native and one for management?
    regards,
    Rutger

    Too answer my own question:
    I don't think it is possible. Things work fine by making our management vlan the native vlan on switches and ap's involved. Management IP address on the BVI1 interface and everything works!

  • WAP200 setup step by step for 2 SSIDs and VLAN

          I have a Wap200 in a community library environment and wish to set up a pubic open SSID and a private (secure) SSID using two VLANs with trunking to a CISCO RV180W router to force the traffic to be separate and yet allow internet access for both SSIDs.  Does anyone have step-by-step instructions for BOTH the WAP200 setup and the RV180W setup to make this work well.

    Dear Dennis,
    Thank you for reaching Cisco Small Business Support Community.
    You can have let's say two SSID's with the Wireless Isolation enabled.  Wireless isolation between SSIDs prevents eavesdropping on the network. When it is enabled, wireless frames received on this access point are not forwarded to ther wireless networks (SSIDs).
    The wireless isolation feature should do the job but if you would still like to have VLAN's and a trunk port to the router then he "Wireless > VLAN & QoS" window allows you to configure the VLAN and QoS related settings for the access point, I suggest you to leave the Default VLAN as 1, and untagged, and make sure you use the same setting on the router.  You can even have a higher priority on the private SSID.
    Please refer to the WAP200 admin guide, chapter 6 for further reference;
    http://sen.lla.free.fr/Fichiers/WAP200_Admin_Guide.pdf
    The RV180 VLAN configuration steps please refer to to the admin guide, chapter 2;

  • I have two iphones, different telcos, i am using the same apple id for both - how can i use the 10GB icloud free memory of my new iphone 5?

    I have two iphones, different telcos, i am using the same apple id for both - how can i use the 10GB icloud free memory of my new iphone 5?

    Thank you KiltedTim!
    YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? Is it necessary to have a different apple ID for the second Iphone to avail the free 5GB it carries with it?

  • How to use different Vlans outside another gateway in sg-300 28?

    dear all
    how shall i use different vlans outside another gateway in sg-300 28?
    Example:
    vlan2 192.168.2.0/24 gateway 192.168.2.1 outside router gateway 192.168.2.254
    vlan3 192.168.3.0/24 gateway 192.168.3.1 outside router gateway 192.168.3.254
    should me doing in sg-300 28?
    thanks.

    Hi Amin,
    Leave the switch in Layer 2 mode
    Cable  VLAN2  to the to the outside router gateway 192.168.2.254 interface
    cable  VLAN3  to the to the outside router gateway 192.168.3.254 interface
    Excuse the rough diagram
    Make the port going to the outside router gateway,  untagged in the vlans they will be transporting. (I am assuming that the router gateway is not vlan aware.)
    IP hosts will most likely get DHCP from the router gateway.  The IP hosts will then automatically send IP traffic to the router gateway.
    VLAN 1 in my switch,  could  then be the only interface within the switch  that has a IP address associated  with it,  for management purposes.
