Two Thin Pink Vertical Lines accross my Screen

Hello everyone,
I purchased an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC early this July, 2014. By August, I realized a thin pink line was flashing accross my screen. I freaked out inmediately. Now, in September, two thing pink lines appeared.
What can I do?
I need a solution. Fast!
PS. HP has guarantee up to a year, is there a HP tech support that can change my screen in Manhattan?

Hi @brandex
Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I saw your post regarding the two pink lines you are getting across your screen. You can confirm that this is a hardware issue by connecting an external monitor to your notebook. If the external monitor has the lines then we know it is a software/driver issue however if you don't get the lines then we know it is hardware issue.
If it turns out it is a software problem then please reply back with your operating system and the product number for your Envy and we will look at reinstall your graphics driver.
If it turns out to be a hardware issue then you need to contact HP regarding a repair. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America.

  • Why are there 2 thin red vertical lines on the screen of my MBP 15" retina which is only 2 months old!

I would just like to understand why there a two thin red vertical lines on the screen
I suspect I need to bring into an apple store for diagnostics but is anyone aware of the likely cause?
    thanks v much!

It could be a GPU issue, a display issue or a display connection issue.  The genius bar technician will offer you a definitive answer and should fix it under the warranty provisions.
    Ciao.

  • Pink vertical lines appearing on screen

I have a G5 about 2 years old. Recently a pale pink vertical line appeared down the screen, another about 2 weeks later and today a third line appeared. They do not affect the screen's visibility, but I wander if anyone else has found a resolution to this minor problem (without having to go out and purchase a replacement.

    Hi Ocean swimmer-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
Makes sure to check the cable connections at both ends.
Which monitor do you have? If you take a screen shot do the lines still show up in the same place?

  • Pink vertical lines on my screen &freezes on startup screen

    24" iMac 8,1 early 2008
    Factory: W8 Shanghai China
Recently my computer froze and I had to power off & power back on manually. When I powered back on I had a bunch of wavy pink lines all over the apple startup screen and would freeze after 30 seconds of the gear spinning. Searching on the Internet I read to try and reset the nvram by holding down Command Option P & R. Once I reset the nvram my computer rebooted and the pink wavy lines were gone they are now pink vertical bars and still freezes. I have the original boot disk that came with my computer and tried running Apple Hardware Test, results came back: "No trouble found". Not sure what else to do, I have read all over the Internet it could be a million different things it could be my RAM, it could be my logic board, or hard drive, or LCD screen not sure how to rule any of these out. I also read there could be a defect with these computers made from factory W8 in Shanghai China and Apple will repair free of charge. Does anyone else know anything about this? Please help!! Thanks

Run Apple Hardware Test in EXTENDED MODE at least 3 times back to back. If you ran the basic test that is useless. I doubt a 5 year old machine is covered by any type of warranty however you can always check to see if there is an active recall. If there is and it's still active then take it to your local Apple Store or AASP for repair. If it's not covered as I suspect then you will have to have to pay for the repairs.

  • Can someone help me with my 27" iMac's Gray screen with 5 Pink Vertical Line Problem?

    Hi there,
I'm new to the forums, but I have a serious problem with my nearly 4 year old iMac 27" model.
I was using my iMac one evening and then suddenly everything displayed on the screen gets immediately pushed to the left of the computer screen. Then after a minute, my screen turns a solid gray, displaying no dock, no header bar, no options, and the keyboard and mouse suddenly disconnect.
When I turned back on my computer, it seemed to boot up perfectly normal. The normal gray start-up screen displays:
Then it displays the Apple logo and begins to spin the loading circle icon below it. But this time it adds 5 vertical pink lines down the screen from left to right. They stay in place the entire time:
And then when the login screen finishes loading, instead of bringing up my Account and my Password text box, it displays just a solid gray screen with the same 5 pink vertical lines on it, as shown below:
I've let it set for a half hour and nothing changes. During this time the keyboard and mouse seem to be disconnected, nothing seems to work with the screen or the computer itself. I hold the on/off button on the rear, turning it off and then on again. The same process happens with the boot up, the Apple logo appears, then the spinning loading icon below it, and then the vertical bars appear and the Apple logo and spinning icon disappear.
Is this a problem with the screen that an external monitor hooked up to it might fix, or is it a graphics card problem? I didn't buy the extended warranty package for the computer and it's roughly 3 1/2 years old.
Any idea what might cause this and how it could be fixed in the cheapest way possible?

I have the same problem since yesterday evening.
    My google research found this:
iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program - Apple Support
Maybe this is our problem. My iMac fits into this category.

  • What does it mean when there pink vertical lines on the start up screen?

What does it mean when there are pink vertical lines on the start up screen on an IMac ?

It means you have a hardware problem. That could be the screen itself or the graphics system, GPU.

  • I have red and green vertical lines on my screen

I have two red and one green thin vertical lines on the screen of my iMac. Is there anything I can do or do I need a new graphics card, or God forbid a new screen?

What model iMac? Could be a failing video card but maybe not. Is it that way on every screen, startup to shutdown, any time the screen is lit?
Do you have an AASP nearby? Time to have an estimate made. Fixing it will likely be very expensive.

  • Is this pink vertical lines a software problem??

  • Pink vertical lines on rMBP - faulty connector??

I have pink vertical lines appearing on my rMPB (mid 2012) screen. I've had the screen replaced twice already for LCD burn in and then the second screen had dead pixels and chips in the glass. But now, a couple of months after the last replacement, I've started to get these lines appearing normally after the computer has been asleep for a while. Once it warms up it seems to become more stable, but as touching the actual screen (as in slightly opening or closing it) seems to alleviate the issue - I think it could be a problem with a cable connection or something. Thoughts??

  • Qosmio G15: green vertical lines on the screen

It all started one regular day when I was playing music on my iTunes.
Suddenly my screen went black and the music stopped, but my power button was still blue. Ever since then, whenever I try to start it, it goes on the Qosmio screen and the Windows XP screen and plays the start-up sound, but it has all these green vertical lines on the screen. And then it goes black and tsays that way.
I have been able to use Windows VGA (whatever that means) with lines all over the screen, but I am not able to start it up normally. Does anyone have any suggestions or have had the same problem??? Please help me!!!
I have a Toshiba G15 Windows XP Media Centre, but am not able to use it normally!

Hello, This problem happens to me two weeks ago. I have a F10 and the warranty expired 3 months ago. I rarely use my laptop. Talked to a well known local store rep. He said there was a specculation on F10 as it was discontinous after a year of release. I agree that well known company like Toshiba should operate like Car companies and be honest on their products. Specially high end product like this.
I was not informed about extended warranty when I bought it as the local store just want to sell and sell and move on. One of the regional store which represents Toshiba to repair all Laptop, said They are only allowed to fix all laptops except Qosmios models. They have to sent it to Toshiba.

  • White, vertical line on the screen

    Hey,
I have purchased iPhone 4s 32gb. After i unboxed it and turned it on, I've noticed single, thin, white vertical line located on the screen. There is no way to remove it, tried to hard reset few times, nothing changed. I haven't dropped the phone, as I mentioned, it's a new one.Is there any way to remove the line? Or should I just exchange the phone?
    Thanks for advices.

Try running the Apple Hardware Test that came with the iMac.
    1) Insert the Install Disc 1 DVD that came with your computer into its optical drive.
    2) Restart your Mac by either:
Selecting Restart in the Apple menu.
            Pressing the Command-Control-Eject keyboard shortcut.
    3) Immediately press and hold the Option key on the keyboard. This invokes the Startup Manager.
    4) Release the Option key after the Startup Manager appears on your display.
    5) When the wristwatch progress indicator disappears — indicating that the Startup Manager's scan for bootable volumes has completed — select the Apple Hardware Test volume.
    6) Click the right-pointing arrow. Your Mac will start up from the Apple Hardware Test volume.
That should indicate exactly where the problem is.  It might be bad RAM, Graphics Card, LCD Screen, etc.
    Good luck.

  • Multiple different colored vertical lines all over screen?

I have quite a few different color vertical lines across my screen. They are yellow, purple, blue, green etc. It started with just one or two and now there is probably close to 75, some tightly grouped and others here and there. Can anyone tell me what it is? Is my video card going out or something? Is there anything I can do to stop it?
    Thanks

    Hi all
I have a single red vertical line down the very left edge of the screen of my 2006 17" MacBook Pro. It has appeared over the last day or so and is there most of the time, although it occasionally disappears for a short while.
Do you think this could be a similar issue?
    Thanks very much.

  • T400s vertical line down the screen - outside of warranty

    Hi
I've had a T400s for just a 2 bit over 2 years now and was always happy with it. I used it mostly with my docking station and have never travelled with it. Now out of the blue one day half the screen was black with a few pixel problems right in the middle with a clear vertical line down the screen. I was perplexed because I was sure no damage whatsoever happened to the notebook.
I googled and it seems to be a common problem:
    A link among others:
"We have about 1200 T400s systems deployed and there has been a higher than normal failure rate with them compared to X301 and T61 systems. Our issues are LCD failure with a vertical line down the screen (very common), Speaker/Audio issues, and DoA systems."
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=89101
The problem seems to be known:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76367
But since the notebook is outside of warranty but it's obviously a manufacturing problem on a (very) expensive notebook, how could I approach Lenovo service center to repair it for me? I have shelled out well over 2'500 Euro for the latest model back then and am a bit disappointed to be honest..
Thanks for any advice on how to approach this!

@tripplec, i don't understand how a Chinese company affects the outcome of the OP's problem? Would IBM do it differently?
Yes, I spent 3 years at a Toronto Bank who bought say 500 systems or so plus notebooks. ThinkPad's and Think Center product. I supported did the warranty work while there. When the warranty was up it was up!! Even if a  lowly optical mouse fail and a number of them did. Too bad nor replacement.
I've delt with IBM, Compaq and HP. There customer relations is entirely at at different level and would and did on  may occasions provide one time post warranty repair even for catestophic issues well after warranty was over. This is a case by case basis. You could reach them and talk to them (locally) and not haveway around the world having no sense of what significance your case it.
There is a difference as was the turn around time  48hrs max and not weeks.
