Two Tier Upgrade Eligibility

I am about to upgrade from CS5 to CS5.5, and there are now two upgrade versions at different prices.  If I buy the cheaper upgrade version of Premiere CS5.5, I need to have Premiere CS5.  OK - I have but this CS5 is an upgrade version itself.  My most recent full version is V1.5.
Now to my problem.  If I buy this cheaper version, when I install CS5.5 I shall be asked for a serial number.  No problem there, but it will be recognized as an upgrade and I will be asked for a serial number for CS5.  I have this but it is not a full version, so will it be accepted?
One solution that occurs to me is to leave CS5 installed while I install CS5.5, but this must have the potential for problems.
A second idea is to un-install CS5, but take the option to leave the activation valid.
Can someone who has gone through this tell me what you have to go to get the upgrade activated?

Thank you Harm,
I do realise that when asked I shall have to provide the serial number for the CS5.5 upgrade!
My question remains - what then?
The CS5.5 upgrade from CS5 will want a valid serial number for CS5, but the one I have is also for an upgrade version.
What I am asking is for someone who has carried out this upgrade to tell me if there are problems.  I do not want to spend several hours on a phone call to India, desperately trying to find a form of words that fits the "support" person's script.
I know that different versions of Premiere can co-exist, but it does seem to be a potential cause of problem to me.

  • Upgrade from a two tier EBS 11i 11.5.10.2 on Windows 2003 Apps and Windows 2008 R2 DB  tier to two Tier R12.2.3 both on Windows 2008 R2

    Hi,
Any ideas about the best practices for the migration/upgrade reflected with the below question?
I have a source EBS11i 11.5.10.2 running as a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server  ora10 on Windows 2003, DB tier 11.2.0.2 on server ora1 on Windows 8 R2. Can I use the Note 1377213.1 for a migration to a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server T10 running Windows 2008 R2 and EBS 12.2.3 and DB tier running 11.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 R2 )? What alternative approach could you suggest? As far as I know EBS11i is not certified on Windows 2008 R2 and R12.2.0 is not certified on Windows 2003.

Yes you can by following "Application Tier Upgrades and Migrations" section -- Install 12.2 apps tier on 64-bit Windows and proceed with the upgrade.

  • MuVo: Two-Tier Director

Hi, i'm sure this is something that's been asked a million times before, but I'm a little confused about the Firmware upgrade i just did.
    It mentioned that the Firmware update;
"Improves track organization and playback with two-tier directory structure."
How does this work... I'd be grateful if someone would enlighten a novice , many thanks

I was trying to help, and you misread my answer. Using folders to store albums in *is* simply a really great way to organise them, I was trying to be helpful!
As I already said most MuVos do work with folders, and it is documented in the manual for *these* players. I assumed this was the case with the original MuVo (we also have the MuVo NX, MuVo TX, MuVo TX FM, MuVo USB 2.0, MuVo Slim, MuVo Micro N200, MuVo Sport C00, MuVo V200, MuVo? and MuVo? FM, so perhaps you can see it isn't quite that clear cut). I'm sorry that I couldn't fully answer your other questions, but that's no cause to be nasty to someone as any sensible person I'm sure would agree with.
I don't own many of the products that Creative sell, but I have helped and solved a lot of questions. Take a minute or two to actually look back over some of the posts I've made, and what others have said about my answers before you jump to your conclusions.

  • What happened to my upgrade eligibility?

I have a family plan with 3 lines.  My droid is my main phone, with two envy 2's as the other two phones.  The envy's are eligible for upgrade, but I've only had the droid for 15 months.
As of 2 weeks ago, when I went to my account and looked at my upgrade eligibility, the droid was listed as being not eligible but there was a quick option to take the upgrade from one of the other phones.  That option is gone now and I can't do it.
But, with that said, when I hit the button for "upgrade a device" it shows all 3 (droid included) with a picture icon that says "upgrade at discounted price".
So.. can I get a new contract price on this line or not?
If not, do I have to go back to the old way of upgrading the two phones that are eligible, then calling vzw and changing the numbers around..
    Thanks..

So.. can I get a new contract price on this line or not? Your primary line is probably eligible for an "annual upgrade" because it is the primary line on your account and has completed at least 12 months of its contract.  If you use the annual upgrade, you will forfeit any New Every 2 credit you are eligible for and may have to pay a $20 fee, but you will be eligible to upgrade at the contract price if you sign a new 2 year agreement.  Since the website seems to be telling you two different things, a quick call to CS to double check might be in order.  I suspect the "transfer upgrade" option isn't showing because the line is already eligible though.
If not, do I have to go back to the old way of upgrading the two phones that are eligible, then calling vzw and changing the numbers around.. Unless you upgrade through a third party retailer like Amazon or Wirefly that requires you to sign a contract directly with them in addition to your Verizon contract, you will be able to swap your phones around as often as you like.  If you want to move around two active phones, you'll need help from CS, just call them from a phone not involved in the swap.
    Thanks..

  • Device Return and Upgrade Eligibility

I am part of a family plan and I just purchased a new phone from the Verizon website because my line eligible for an upgrade.  If I decide to return this phone and go back to my old phone instead of getting replacement now and wait until a later date to upgrade what will happen?  Will my line stay on the new contract and not be eligible for an upgrade for two years, or will I go back to my old contract terms and remain eligible for a new device at a discounted price now?

I'm within my 14 days, and the restocking fee isn't a problem, but what happens with my contract and upgrade eligibility?

  • I am getting a Two Tier Service from BT - Mods?

It just got me thinking, all us without iPlayer at the moment are effectively suffering.
We are paying the same charges for a service that is effectively a lower tier (bugs aside) compare to everyone that has iPlayer now. To me this is a two tier service.
Personally I think anyone that does not have iPlayer should be entitled to a rebate on their bill until they recieve it. Yes I know iPlayer is free and I agree the content is free, but somebody has to pay for the software that runs it? and lets face it iPlayer has a lot more content than Replay has?
And when these so called Linear channels come along (Linear TV via Broadband - Multicast) I bet the same thing will happen then, We will all pay the same monthly fee, some will have it, some will not, the have nots will effectively be getting ripped off as they are getting charged the same for a inferior service.
It happened before with ADSL/ADSL Max, and is happening now from what I can see with ADSL Max/Infinity.. People can get Infinity for the same price as ADSL Max.. i would love to have infinity for the same price where I am now but I doubt I will see it this side of 2020, same for Linear TV..
How much longer are people going to put up with this two tier service? Last time I checked with Virgin Media, the cost was different based on what you selected And what you could get....

Now you have changed the terms of the argument you are making from a two tier service to how BT rolls out products and try to compare it to browser upgrade.
You are not only shifting your point now but making an absurd comparison.
Think of it more akin to digital switchover. There are some places in the country that still can't get Freeview or even analogue Channel 5. There are places where even after DSO they only get a small number of channels.
If you take this back to your original argument then all of it two, three and four tier services and all who don't get everything should be compensated in some way. It really doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

  • Three tier (mod pl/sql) vs. two tier (PL/SQL Gateway)

I've been using 10g Database and 10g application server on separate servers for some time now.
Going the two tier (11g) route has some attractions, but what are the disadvantages?
The Oracle documentation I've seen says very little on making the decision, giving benefits as:
    Ease of configuration
    Included in the database
    No separate server installation
    - but no negatives.
Does anyone have any real live experience of comparing the two options?
I'm inclined to believe that three tier might have more tuning flexibility, better performance if each tier is on a different server. Maybe worse than two tier if on one server, assuming two tier eliminates communication overheads..
Does pl/sql gateway have the caching ability of Apache/mod pl/sql - I assume not? - that could make a big difference.
    Any thoughts would be welcome...

There are several key performance advantages of OHS over EPG. I'm working a lot with the EPG right now and pushing the XDB team to add several of these features (maybe in 11.2, possible backport, but don't count on it). I used recommendations from the yslow Firefox add-in to do some performance tuning. Here's there list of Best Practices:
    http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html
    - EPG does not add an "Expires" header. So, lets say you have 25 images in your page template, and none of them change. Each page view will still request those 25 images. They use etags, so you don't have to download the images, but your browser still makes the requests which is quite slow. From my testing, pages could be up to 4 times slower with the EPG with a pretty standard template. The XDB team is aware of this and working hard to resolve it.
    - EPG does not support gzip. This is another HUGE performance hit.
Keep in mind you can't test any of those issue with debug mode in APEX, you really need to use a browser plugin such as Firebug + ySlow. The render speed from APEX's point of view will be the same, no matter what HTTP server you use.
The other big on is mod_rewrite support. There is no way easily create friendly URLs for your apps. Another thing to consider is that a number of Identity Management systems, such as Oracle Access Manager (OAM) work by installing an Apache Module or in the case of IIS, some type of plugin (forget what they call it). There is no concept of this in EPG.
IMHO, it's convenient for laptops, but I would never use it for production unless you needed some feature that it exposes, such as WebDav or FTP access to the XDB repository...

  • New AT&T Upgrade Eligibility Update (Apple Stores Not Aware???) *Important*

This is the link to AT&T official update release:
    http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=1574
I went to my local AT&T store and informed them about this, and the person that took care of me didn't know about it, she was like "No, you gotta wait till 7/13/09 (My case) so that you will be eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 3G S, or you can do the Early Upgrade which is $200 more for both models(16 and 32 GBs)", but than I said that AT&T release this to those that will be eligible in the next three upcoming months so they can pay $199 for 16GBs and $299 for 32GBs, the guy that was next to her that was there was the only one aware of this update, so I kind of understand why is it that Apple doesn't know anything about this (since I called 2 retail stores and they didn't know anything neither main Headquarters) but I would like for someone in Apple to take a look at this and see what's going on, because where I live iPhones 3G S are in back order in the AT&T stores and since I gotta upgrade, my best bet it's going to AT&T, but I could purchase it at the Apple store because they do have in stock here, but than I checked in Apple's website, whenever I'm going to buy it it says that I gotta pay $399 for the 16GBs because I'm not eligible till 7/13/09 and again Apple does NOT know anything about this Upgrade Eligibility Update so they will charge me more, at the end I'm gonna have to wait till AT&T gets some iPhones 3G S and buy it there, but what ****** me off is that they have it in the retail store here
    Please any info on this!!!

Yes, and I said that I was eligible in 7/13/09 and yes I'm part of the family plan, I do spend more than $99 and I already went to the AT&T store and the lady that took care of me in AT&T didn't know this, just one guy in there that was an employee like her knew about it, so even AT&T employees do not know this(Must of them) now, in the AT&T stores near me the Phone 3G S is not available since they ran out, but the Apple stores near me they do have it so I checked with Apple and they do not know anything about this, even the main Headquarters, and when I go buy it they are going to charge me $399 for the 16GBs iPhone 3Gs so I guess I'm gonna have to wait for AT&T to have it in the store near me, which *****, because I'm gonna have to wait, when in the Apple store they have it.

  • Siebel 7.0 to 8.1 Is a Two Step Upgrade

    Hi All,
I wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention since it caught me by surprise. There is no direct upgrade path from 7.0 to 8.1. 7.5 is the last version that offers a direct upgrade path to 8.1
This is not nearly as bad as it sounds. When done correctly the extra upgrade will only add one week to your development upgrade process. We have done many two step upgrades including 6.x to 7.8/8.0 upgrades as well as SEA to SIA upgrades and once you realize how to properly perform these upgrades the second step is not significant to the project’s duration.
Actually dropping support for 7.0 is really just getting back to business as usual for Oracle. Normally when a new version of Siebel comes out support for the oldest direct upgrade version is dropped. This was the case for 7.7 being the latest version that supports a direct upgrade from 6.x.
Support for 7.0 upgrades was maintained for 7.8 and 8.0. We all just got used to 7.0 being supported but now that direct upgrade path is gone.
Please contact me if you have any questions about how to minimize your two step upgrade project duration. There are certain details you should know about before attempting such an upgrade if you have never performed one before.

Then I tried to run the Post Installation Instruction (§3.2.2 of the readme for 5236412):
@D:\ora8174\5236412\catcpu.sql and got a "ORA-20000: server version does not match script".
I can guess this is link to the previous "DB_8.1.7.4 is not installed in this Oracle Home" but why DB_8.1.7.4 could'nt be installed ?

  • IPad Upgrade Eligibility

I currently own an Verizon iPad and 'might' purchase the iPad 2 sometime in the future. My Verizon account currently says I'm eligible for an 'upgrade', but because the upgrade is tied to my iPad device, I'm not sure what the upgrade option means for me.
Does this mean I'm eligible to 'upgrade' to an iPad 2?? The upgrade issue is even more confusing because when I click on the upgrade options available to me, my account list phones, not the iPad 2. I'm assuming this is because my current iPad has a 'telephone number' attached to the account. Has anyone else received and upgrade eligibility notice for their iPad? If so, what does it mean?

When your My Verizon website indicates that you are eligible for upgrade, you can upgrade to any device (phone, tablet or broadband device). Please note that the iPad 2 is only sold at full retail price and using your upgrade will not make a difference on the price you pay for it. Additionally, no contract is required for an iPad 2 as you pay full retail price.

  • Converting from two tier to three tier environment

We are looking at converting our current two tier portal environment to a three tier environment. The database will stay on the machine where it is currently loaded I would like to move the 9ias home to a seperate machine and place it outside the firewall and utilize the dmz port for communications. Is there any documentation that deals with this process?
    Thanks in Advance
    Kevin

any body please suggest any links to implemet the said three tier systemBack 5 - 7 years ago the company I worked for did just that.
Previously had been running Forms 6 in client server mode.
The forms were massaged/tweaked/rewritten such that the EXACT same source code was valid for C/S & webforms.
I wrote a script that would nightly extract the Forms source & then compile using Forms 9 (at that time).
At the end of this process end users could run the application using either C/S or webforms.
One user at a time was converted from C/S forms to webforms.
It was a long but painless transition.

  • Losing upgrade eligibility without buying a new phone?

I am currently on a family plan, but I'm not the account owner. Our family is wanting to split our plan different ways (the account owner wants to switch vendors), while I am very happy with Verizon and want to stay. We're currently on a Verizon month-to-month. I just got back from a Verizon store where they answered my questions, but there was one that wasn't answered clearly.
I want my own individual plan through Verizon, but I already have a smartphone that I purchased from Verizon (subsidized) 2 years ago, that I am very happy with at the moment and have no desire on replacing yet. My understanding is that I will have to start a new individual contract because I'm no longer a part of the old Family Plan. My main concern is whether I will lose my upgrade eligibility if I do not also purchase a new subsidized phone at the start of my contract. Do I maintain my upgrade eligibility if I start a new contract with my current phone, and can use that upgrade when I am ready in the future? Or do I have to immediately upgrade my phone when I sign a new contract?

You would do an Assumption of Liability for your line - and get on your own plan (if you can live with 2GB data, the $60 unlimited text and talk, and 2GB data single line plan is about the best deal you'll get.) If you re currently out of contract, month to month, then you would be bringing your own phone to the plan, remain month to month and upgrade eligible.

  • Why has my upgrade eligibility been pushed back?

I know I posted about this before, but it still baffles me. Right now I'm using a droid razr maxx HD which was bought around March of 2012. The site says my upgrade eligibility is for March of 2015. The really interesting thing is that I bought my mother a phone last November (much farther after my own phone) and hers is set right around the 2 year for an upgrade which is fine. Why then was my upgrade pushed back another year? Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't think you got your RAZR MAXX HD when you think you did.
That phone wasn't released until October of 2012.  I'm thinking you got it March of 2013 which would put March of 2015 at your 2-year mark.
You should be able to go into My Verizon documents section and see the actual receipt for the phone with the date.

  • Best Option Regarding Upgrade Eligibility

Okay..here is my situation.  Sorry if this was answered on another thread.   My wife and I have a family plan.  Her line is the primary line (the first listed on our account).  Both of us have upgrade eligibility on 2/13.  When I check eligibility on both Verizon and Apple, her number is eligible to purchase the 16gb phone at 199.  Mine, however is not.  She doesn't want the Iphone.  What is the best way for me to get the upgrade and pre-order on the 3rd.?  Should I do the "Buddy Swap" or should I order through her eligible upgrade and switch the number?  Regardless of which is the best, how do I do each?  Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

instore would be the easiest way.
if you order online then this would work
    1. order
    2. activate on her line, it will add a data plan to her line
    3. re-activate her old phone on her line via account manager, remove data plan if not needed
    4. activate on your line, choose data plan
this is what been suggested in the past for other phones, and should work with the i-phone or any phone.
or when you recive it call customer service and have them do it
