Two up scanned pdf to one incremental pdf

Hi,
I have posted this in the Acrobat forum, but you all seem to be so knowledgeable that I thought maybe one of you had an answer.
I have been looking everywhere and have yet to find an answer that works. Tryed Bliss, and a couple of other programs.
I have a booklet that I have scanned duplex. It is of course two pages, odd and even, on one page. I would like to separate the pages into a one page document in the correct page numbering that it should be in. I know I can crop...ect...but that is a lot of work for large documents. We have many documents to make into one page pdfs.
Anyone have ideas? Something that isn't so time consuming?
Thanks,
ls

Thanks so much for answering! I will definately take a look at it!!
Oh...and we have tried the tile pages. It does separate the pages, but in a large pdf it is time consuming to reorder the pages manualy. If you have a trick let me know...thanks!

  • How to show two or more PDF in one PDF-Reader / Concatenate PDF-Files

    Hi,
    I want to show two or more PDF files in one PDF reader window or to concatenate two or mor PDF files to one file.
    We use WD4A and ADS.
    Have someone an idea to solve this without an external program?
    Thx in advance
    Jürgen

    We have done this successfully a few times using WDA - it wasn't easy - it took us 2 full weeks to figure it out, so i need to get full points for this one!
    It's going to much easier to do this if you start a brand new WDA. If not, you'll have to re-do all your Context Node navigations within your methods.
    The first thing you need to do is to define your Context properly:
    You need a top level Node defined as 1:1 cardinality (as with all PDF development)
    Next, you need another Container Node 1:n cardinality (this holds the collection of content nodes)
    Finally, you have your PDF Content Node 1:n cardinality - This holds each instance of your PDF form
    In our scenario, we are passed in a list of Project Numbers. We need to generate a PDF sheet for each project in the same PDF session.
    pseudo code - i'm leaving out some of the unnessary details
    Loop through the project number table.
    ADD 1 TO v_cnt.
    * navigate from <TOP> to <PDF_CONTAINER> via lead selection
        lo_nd_pdf_container = lo_nd_top->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_pdf_container ).
    * This is the Important Part - we check to see if there is an element where index = v_cnt
    * If not, we create one where we can store the new set of data
    * get element via lead selection
        lo_el_pdf_container = lo_nd_pdf_container->get_element( index = v_cnt ).
        IF lo_el_pdf_container IS INITIAL.
          lo_el_pdf_container  = lo_nd_pdf_container->create_element( ).
          lo_nd_pdf_container->bind_element( new_item = lo_el_pdf_container
                                               set_initial_elements = ' '   ).
        ENDIF.
        lo_nd_ideasheet_data =  lo_el_pdf_container->get_child_node( 'IDEASHEET_DATA' ).
        lo_el_ideasheet_data = lo_nd_ideasheet_data->get_element( index = 1 ).
    * fill all the data then bind the structure
    Select * from XXX into lt_XXX
      where project_number = lt_project-project_number.
    * Move Data to appropriate fields/tables
    * Bind the info back to the element
        lo_el_ideasheet_data->set_static_attributes( static_attributes =
                                                  ls_ideasheet_data ).
    Endloop.

  • Combine two or more pdf as one pdf from command line

    Hi,
    I have to combine two or more pdf file as one pdf file from command line.
    Is it possible.
    Thanks,
    Ansaf.

    Acrobat has a rich SDK, but not using the command line - declared obsolete by Adobe several decades ago (but taking a long time to die). To be fair, implementing thousands of APIs via command line would make for a rather complicated command line. Use OLE. BUT NOT ON A SERVER!!

  • I have an HP Photosmart C4180 all in one printer scanner and copier, I can't figure out how to scan more than one page at a time and then send as a PDF file via email

    I have an HP Photosmart C4180 all-in-one, printer, scanner and copier.  I can't figure out how to scan more than one page?  It will only let me do one page at a time and then I have difficulty sending pages 1, 2 and 3 as one docuement.  Any ideas??
    Thank you, Jetteski

    Hello Jetteski,
    Hello Jetteski, Thanks for the post.
    Since you are running a MAC, check the below links for some excellent information on scanning.  Good Luck!

  • Problem editing scanned PDFs

    I'm working with a lot of scanned old books. Sometimes I download one from Google Books or another site and want to get rid of the first and last couple of empty pages. The weird thing that happens in Preview is that the new file after extracting the pages I need from the PDF is always HUGE. For example, a scanned PDF of some 160 pages is 6,5 MB. After extracting 150 pages from it, it's 356 MB (!!). The same happens with merging. Merged two PDFs of 15 MB each into one the other day, and the new file was 60 MB. I know that there must be a good reason for that, but it's totally beyond me. It's the same whether I print to PDF or drag and drop. I even tried the Super PDF Utility from the Mac App Store, which enables me to simply delete some pages from the file and the result was the same. So I guess it must be something about the scanned PDFs. But it happens with all scanned PDFs, no matter where I got them.
    So my question is (assuming I'm not doing anything wrong), does anybody know about a not-too-pricey app that would split and merge scanned PDFs without going nuts with the size of the files?
    Ok, that's one part of the question. The other is more general and relates to the first: I've been looking for a PDF editor app that would do the following:
    split and merge as described above
    make my scanned PDFs searchable (means adding an invisible OCR layer, but keeping the scanned appearence of the pages)
    if possible, convert the raster or bitmap to vector (in my case, smoothing the fonts on low quality scans)
    I should note that the books I work with are almost exclusively text only. I've been searching for an app like that but the feature descriptions are not always so precise. I hope this is not inappropriate for this forum. I'm willing to spend reasonable amont of money, but not Acrobat Pro money.
    Thanks a lot!

    Find one the "Jones" can you select the text of the word "Jones"? If not you have a graphic the the PDF/A issue is a red herring.

  • Extract data from a scanned PDF Chart

    Hi,
    I have a scanned PDF chart, which shows linear relationship between two variables. Is there a way to extract data from the scanned PDF using Acrobat?
    I want to avoid error in my calculations by eyeballing the data. Using "Measuring tool" may be an option, but wanted to ask whether any forum members have a better and efficient way to extract data, which can later be used in a spreadsheet software.
    As an example, please refer to the attached link, I will like to extract data from Figure 6 in this document: http://www.seas.columbia.edu/earth/wtert/sofos/nawtec/nawtec13/nawtec13-3164.pdf
    FYI, I have Acrobat X installed on my Windows computer.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Using AA9 Pro I was able to use the TouchUp Object Tool, right click and open the graph in Photoshop. From there, or Paint and another image editor, one might be able to clean it up or re-create the paths. The gray values are too close for it to be simple.
    The measure tool does not seem a good choice; although you see measurement lines, it would not actually produce the line you desire, until maybe, just maybe you flattened annotations, a feature within Fixups, perhaps limited to the Professional version.
    IMO, it is a fairly linear graph with only a variation at the 10 Power (MW). You eyeball is as good as mine at this one; the actual values may be available from the authoring entity.

  • How can I change the file version for scanned PDFs to 1.4 when using the "PDF from Scanner" feature from Acrobat XI? By default it's always saved as 1.5.

    Because our IT system can only handle PDFs with versions up to 1.4, we need to "PDF from scanner" feature to store the scanned PDFs in version 1.4.
    Acrobat 9 always saved it in 1.4, but starting with Acrobat X, the PDFs are saved in 1.5.
    There must be a setting or configuration somewhere where I can change this.
    I already tried modifying the distiller's standard joboptions, but that did not work.
    Thanks for any help

    We use in our software an open-source pdf library that only supports pdf versions up to 1.4. I know it is old, but it's not that simple to exchange it.
    But I just had a look into the Actions as you suggested. This way I get it to work. It costs one additional click, so that's acceptable.
    Thanks for the support.

  • How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?

    How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?
    I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
    I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

    Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
    I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

  • Scanned PDF files open at 300% size

            I use an iMac with System OSX 10.6, and have Adobe Reader installed.   Today I scanned some documents into my computer using my HP Photosmart  All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier.   When I open the scanned pdf documents, they are huge--300% of normal size.   I am able to reduce the size using the +/- button, every time I close them and open them again, they open at the large size.    Is there a setting I can change in Adobe Reader or Preferences such that files will open at regular 100% size?   Apple Tech Support was able to help me do this by setting my computer to open pdf documents using Apple's Preview application, but there must also be a way to do it using Adobe Reader?

    Go to Reader preferences>Page Display>Default layout and zoom>Zoom and set it for what you want.

  • Is 'Optimize Scanned PDF' available in Acrobat X Standard?

    Can anyone with Acrobat X Standard tell me whether the 'Optimize Scanned PDF' option is available?  We have need to buy a new license and this is one feature that we use, but I can't determine whether this feature is available in Standard or if I would need to buy the Pro version.  Thanks!

    Yes, Optimize Scanned PDF comes with Acrobat Standard also.

  • OPTIMIZE SCANNED PDF PROBS Acrobat Pro 9

    "Optimize Scanned PDF" option under DOCUMENT seems to do a great job, only problem is that it seems to take parts of the document and overlap itself. The source PDF is fine. But the result always have these overlaps.
    The only way I can describe it is that after optimization it looks like when 2 pages feed in a fax or copier machine and you get part of one document over the other. This happens with single and multipage PDFs. Anybody know how to fix this??

    Thanks apangasa, but the link you provided is for the Windows version.
    "*Acrobat X Pro is available as a software trial for Windows® users only. A trial version of Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS is currently not available. However, the full version of Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS is available for purchase."
    Not sure I want to buy something without the opportunity to test it, especially with all the problems I've had. But if the reports are that it solves issues with 9, I might bite the bullet. I guess, depending on the retailer, I could return it if the issues persist.

  • Brief blurriness when scrolling in scanned PDF

    Hello all. I frequently find that when scrolling through pages in a scanned PDF, it takes a second or two for the page images to resolve; that is, they appear blurry at first and only a second or two later do they resolve into clear page images. The PDFs are about 50 pages long, in color, and were scanned at 300 dpi with moderate compression (they are about 75mb each). Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

    Could you please share the document with us?

  • Convert scanned PDF to PDF containing text?

    Before my last laptop crashed, there was an amazing new (new to me, anyway) feature in Adobe that would attempt to convert a scanned copy of a PDF to a PDF containing text that could be highlighted. I was ecstatic! Whenever I opened a PDF, Adobe would prompt me with a message about trying to convert the PDF to one that could read and recognize text. I would click yes and after the conversion, I could highlight text. After my computer crashed and I re-installed Adobe, I no longer had or could find this feature. I cannot find any information on any type of plug-in or any information related to this feature actually. Please help! What is the plug-in or version of Adobe that will attempt to convert a scanned PDF to a PDF containing text that can be highlighted? Thanks

    Adobe Reader doesn't have support for recognising text. Please try Adobe Acrobat XI for enjoying this feature.
    Here's a link from where you can download Trial Version.

  • Scaling Scanned PDF

    I'm a new and very novice Adobe Acrobat user and that's putting it mildly. I'm trying to scale a scanned PDF of sheet music.I optimize it, convert to text, then crop it. I've tried selecting all content Ctrl+A then scaling it but the text and images get out of alignment. I'm trying to scale the image to a larger size to fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper instead of printing smaller text/graphics. The scanned image is about 4 x 5. The musical notes are stored as images. I'm attaching the optimize and text conversion screen captures. I don't see a place to attach the PDF. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

    You might check for a preflight script to see if there is a script for what you want (I don't remember one). I have AA 9 handy and you can use the edit object tool, there is a similar tool in XI. However, you can not go from 4X5 page to a larger one this way. A quick solution (not normally recommended) is to print to a new PDF with the size you specify and select expand to fit. This might be the quickest at this point, but you should explore other options. Unfortunately my newer Acrobat is not working properly on this machine.
