  • Clearing network cache worked; ONCE. This is ONLY on facebook. Two users on computer (win 7 Prof), same browswer, both use Facebook. Different results. Why would clearing cache work once??

    Windows 7 professional. Firefox 6.02
    Only on Facebook.
Yet 2 users on computer and 2 different results. I have already uploaded a screen shot. I see more and more users are reporting this, but many more are probably not.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

  • Two users, one computer, can we share?

Hello and thanks for any help. We got a new computer for Christmas that has two user "accounts" on it. My husband loaded iTunes into "his" side with no problem. I have iTunes, but can't get any of the music to show up on it, even though the computer shows that the files are being shared between the two users. I can add music to it with no issue, but can't access what was already in the library. It seems silly to load all the music in twice, but I will if I have no other option. Any ideas? Thanks.

    1 Quit iTunes.
2 Drag your entire iTunes folder from /My Documents/My Music/ to a Shared directory.
    3 Log out.
1 Log in on your other account(s).
2 Start iTunes and immediately press an hold the Shift key.
3 iTunes will ask to Create new library or Choose existing library. Select Choose existing library.
4 Select the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder in /Users/Shared.
5 Now go to File -> Add Folder to library and select the iTunes music folder located in /My Documents/My Music/iTunes.
6 - iTunes will add all the music in from this account to the main iTunes music folder/library.
    7 Delete the iTunes folder in /My Documents/My Music/.
8 Restart iTunes normally (don't hold Shift). Everything should be there.
9 Quit iTunes and log out of the account.
10 Do the above steps for all users. Don't do the first 1-3 steps. Start at the second series.
Log into your account, start iTunes normally and all music should be there.
Whenever any of you do anything in iTunes, it will be seen by all since you are using one and the same iTunes library file.
Create a "main" playlist for each user with their own music. Create a smart playlist and set it to Playlist is not the playlist you created above. Select this and it will show you everything NOT in your playlist. Do the same for the others. This will help when adding only the music you want your own playlist.
Note that iTunes can only be opened by one user at a time.

  • Two users, same machine.

    Hello.
I have installed Adobe CC on my two Macs: Desktop and Macbook Pro (as it is allowed).
Mainly I use my desktop. Now I have this question: If I create another USER in the same computer, and sign in to Adobe CC, is this count as another computer? Or your system already knows is the same computer?
I have a client with sensitive information and I've created another USER in the computer to be safer. The sofware works, but I want to know what happens if I sync my Photoshop Settings.
I don't want to do anything ilegal or it looks like it. Thank you in advance.
    Rubens

Activations are per computer, not per user. That's all you need to know. Sync can have a million users and is unrelated to the activation.

  • Flash player not installing correctly as different user, same computer

I can view videos as one user on the same computer running IE9 windows 7, user is admin, but as another admin user, it keeps asking to install Adobe flash player, which I've done a million times, and it's still not working. It will not let me view any videos. Just a blank screen with "install adobe flash player"  I've checked the IE security settings, they are the exact same. I have unchecked active x filter, nothing changed. I have reset IE settings to default, still no change.  Firefox asked for adobe flash install, it went right through and works fine.  I can find the adobe flash program under control panel, remove programs, but not under the normal  start, programs, section.  Wierd! Any ideas would be helpful, I'm about top pull my hair out because it makes no sense.  This is a BRAND new computer, so all graphics drivers should be fine!

Perhaps the Shockwave Flash Object add-on is disabled on the other user's account?

Since it works fine on one account, this is probably not a driver issue.  But (just F.Y.I.) when I bought my new Dell computer three months ago, almost all device drivers on it were outdated.

  • Sharing Photos: Different Users, Same Computer

So far, I've tried some suggestions found in other postings, but I still can't share some photo libraries between different users on the same computer. I started an account for my son. Sharing was enabled in both iPhoto Apps. I've tried locating the libraries in a Shared folder and putting them in a folder not associated with a user. Opening a port 8770 in the Sharing/Firewall window didn't change anything either. No matter what, when I open my son's iPhoto and try to Add To Library, some libraries will import and others have a circle with a red line next to them. Those will not import and I can't figure out what the difference is between them. Any thoughts?

    Hi chris,
these are the links I have for sharing. You might want to try the ACL way.
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.
    Sharing links from Apple....
    Sharing your photos between computers
    About shared photos
    Turning off photo sharing
    Looking for shared photos
SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

  • One mac, two users, same Quicken - shared file does not work.

As stated I have two users, both administrators, on the one machine and I can not find a way to allow read/write access to the one quicken account. How do I set this up correctly. I do have an external firewire hard drive set up to allow access to photo and media files. If that is my only option to have permissions ignored, what part of Quicken files do I set up on the external? ?only the backup? Would a separate disc image on the internal HD do the same thing?
    Thanks in advance.

You can't. Each datafile is associated with a specific user and thus its permissions dictate what can be done with it. IMHO, it's best to use two datafiles, one for each user. Non-Apple application peculiarities are best addressed at that app's forums. In this case, visit http://www.quickencommunity.com/ and post to the appropriate forum.

  • Two users same photo events

I have 2 users on my imac. I want the both of us to be able to have the same photos in iphoto. Right now if I load photos they can no be viewed on the other users profile. I do not want to have to load the pictures from the camera twice. That would just take up double the room. What do I do?

    joem1481
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a disk image.
(Some people have had success putting the library in the Users/ Shared folder. If you do this make sure the file permissions are set to allow read/write access to everyone.)
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • Two users, same pc, how 2 transfer music library from 1 itunes 2 another

both my wife and i have itunes on the same pc but i have an extensive library of music, how can i transfer all my music from my itunes into hers using ipod if needed

You don't say how your computer is set up, I'm presuming two separate Windows user accounts. You could do a couple of things, one is simply share your current library and you'll find a guide here:"How to share music between different accounts on a single computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195
Or if you prefer separate libraries, you could use your iPod to move a copy of your iTunes folder into the other account, the guide for that is here:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173-en

  • Two users, one computer, sharing library

My wife and I share one computer. I have the lion's share of music in my library and she wants to be able to download some of my songs  onto her iPhone. What is best method?

    Terence Delvin,
What's your motivation? You reference my previous statement about it being a big problem.
Yet that post has, interestingly, been deleted. But you still know about it. I can only assume that you work for Apple and you deleted it.
To then suggest that it is my personal problem is rather counter-productive. It is no longer my personal problem b/c I no longer and will never use iTunes 7.0.
My motivation? I am trying to warn other people so that they don't have to go through the same hassle. I'm hoping that Apple will own up to the problem and fix it.
If you intend to continue to deny the problem, then don't bother posting anymore. If you have some inside information on why it happens, after you read the referenced blog (which was erased along with my previous post but which I will re-list), then by all means - post that here, and there as well.
    http://www.twistermc.com/blog/2006/09/12/itunes-7-erased-my-ipod
There are far too many experience users there who had it erase their ipod without warning for you to write it off as OE (operator error).
    Regarding your semantics question -
If a plane SOMETIMES crashes, that's a HUGE problem for the people affected. (I'm using this as metaphor and mean no comparision between the two events)
If iTunes SOMETIMES erases the ipod, that's a HUGE problem for the people who have it happen to them.

  • Two users/same pc (win7) and itunes library on external HDD

I've been running my itunes library off an external for ages now and everythings been fine.  That was until my wife bought herself an iPhone and now I need to find a way to share my library with her and have it automatically reflect any changes that I've made without moving my library collection (2.25TB) to the PC's HDD.  At the moment I have just setup her library so that it points to the same location as mine but the major pain is that if I add an album to my library, I have to then close itunes, logon as her and re-open itunes and add the album again.  This seems a little tedious and has to be a better way.  All the forums I've read about sharing the library between users, want the music moved to the shared music folder and I've tried everything to get around this... Any help is greatly appreciated

The only format drive that will work with both a Mac and a PC without you using additional drivers is an older format called FAT.  Disk Utility can create this.  Otherwise if you use Windows' NTFS you need something like NTFS3G or MacFuse, and if you use OSX's HFS format you will need MacDrive on Windows (others may also work for both PC and Mac -- those are just the ones I could remember).
Theoretically the Mac should have been able to read the .itl on the Windows NTFS drive but maybe since it found it could not write to it, it reverted to default.
Note, if anything happens to the FAT32 drive you will need to repair it using Windows.  I also assume you aren't usign this drive for huge files because FAT32 has a 4GB filesize limit.
You will have to completely erase the drive to partition and re-format it.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Move main iTunes library to a different XP user /same computer

I have researched deeply the discussion board and haven't found an answer to this specific question: I want to move the existing iTunes library (currently at: C:/Documents and Settings/+user 2+/My Documents/My Music/iTunes
    TO
    C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Music/iTunes
I do NOT want a shared library, due to the inherent restrictions on having such and because I do not NEED to share the library. Four years ago, my pre-teen daughter and I got iPods and I put the library in her user folder so that she could access it (Mine is password protected). She now has her own computer and never uses the family one. She syncs her iPod with her own computer. I like to listen to my music while working on the computer, but I have to log in to her XP name to play music and it is nerve wracking to not be able to change it without logging off my name, going into hers, switching albums (or whatever), logging out of hers, logging back into mine. ACHHHHH!!
I am a bit dusty in my computer programming skills, but shouldn't I simply be able to go into DOS and change the path of the library? I don't want to mess anything up.
NOTE: I do currently have a couple of songs (less than 10) in my HP_Administrator iTunes library (added before I figured out that XP does not like me to log into iTunes with more than one user name....hence leaving everything on my daughters log in name). I am more than willing to delete everything there if necessary.
    Thanks for the help!
    You guys are brilliant!

Log in to your admin account.
    Quit iTunes.
Drag C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Music/iTunes folder to the desktop.
    Move C:/Documents and Settings/+user 2+/My Documents/My Music/iTunes folder to C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Music/.
Start iTunes. Should have the library except for the music you had in the admin iTunes.
File -> Add folder to library and select the *iTunes music folder* in the iTunes folder on the desktop.
Now you can delete the iTunes folder on the desktop.

  • 2 users, same computer..how do we share ical?

So there's 2 users on our computer and we want to share ical and both be able to add, change, delete...How can we do this???

It's not built into iCal, no.
I think I'm right in saying that the reason you usually can't share data, or calendars, across user accounts has to do with the way Unix machines - including Macs - store a user's data and make it private for that user. There are shared points from which you can share but this does not include your calendars alas.

Michael's suggestion above is your best bet.

  • Two users on computer - each must download Adobe Flash & wife can't install as not the Administrator.

    Firefox 6.0.2, Win7.
After I download Adobe Flash Player on my user account (administrator) and 'switch user' or 'log off' Adobe Flash is not installed in my wife's account (test by trying to view youtube.com). As Administrator, I can download Adobe Flash in her account, verify with Youtube, log off or switch users and sign in to my account - Adobe is 'not there' as verified by Youtube. In either account, Flash is in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash but Firefox 'can't find.' Note - say some discussion that SysWOW64 is 64 bit and Adobe Flash is 32. Is Shockwave Flash part of the issue? Thanks

I found a similar question and found a solution!
If anyone else sees this with the same problem here's what to do:
    Go to this link:
    https://www.adobe.com/au/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Download the version for your OS.
Install program - takes about 2 seconds! Very easy fix!
