Two versions installed

Did a security check via secunia and noticed that I had two
versions of flashplayer installed. Adobe Flash and Macromedia Flash
- these were listed individually with the recommendation to
upgrade. I looked for detailed instructions on the adobe site but
did not find anything. I then uninstalled via add/remove the only
apparent version of the Adobe flashplayer and reinstalled the
latest version 9.0.115.0.
Redoing the secunia scan, this is now shown as secure/correct
version but I am still shown the additional version of Macromedia
Flash Player 6.084.0. How can I get rid of this?

You have now two very different Skype versions installed. One is the "modern" (metro) Skype app for Windows 8/8.1 and the other is the Skype for Windows desktop version.
https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12189/what-s-the-difference-between-skype-for-modern-windows-and-...
The "modern" Skype has a very limited functionality and customization option.
Skype for Windows desktop has all Skype functions enabled and can be customized.

  • Shockwave Player two versions installed.

I am using Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6 on Windows XP Pro and I.E.8.  Windows Add/Remove Programs lists as installed programs both Shockwave Player 11.6 and Shockwave player 11.5.  Can I safely uninstall version 11.5 without afftecting 11.6 or Adobe Flash?
    I'd appreciate your opinion.
    O S

I had to Uninstall both 11.5 and 11.6 versions of Adobe Shockwave Player than reinstall version 11.6.  All is fine now.

  • I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
      - Can I uninstall the older version?
      - Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
      - If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.
PS; I have the same issue with Muse CC. See: I have two versions of Muse CC installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

    Jim,
I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks

  • Is it possible to have two different iTunes versions installed, by just using a different install folder on Win7, pointing at the same music resource?

I really don't like the new version of iTunes, with CoverFlow removed. Makes navigation very poor IMO.
Can I go ahead and just install an older version with CoverFlow still present in another Win7 folder, and point it at the same music resource?
Very poor decision by iTunes to omit this popular preference - and unless its put back in quickly, can see peopl leaving when they feel their config has gone.

I don't really want the hassle of uninstalling the 'latest' (****) version, as it might mess my system, plus, at some point, this will be upgraded, and I reckon with CoverFlow put back in! SO, I would upgrade this as my 'main install'.
The older one, I would use temporarily, until put CoverFlow back into its newer releases, if you see what I mean.
So, my question is implicit and more specific - can I have two different version installed, in different folders/locations, without causing conflicts I don't wanna uninstall the new one just to put the old one back on.
Very bad that iTunes put me in this position, really.

  • I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions.

I am using Adobe Creative Cloud.  I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions. I beleive the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version.  Is there a reason it has installed two versions?  Can I remove one version as I am running a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine?

I don't know if my issue is the same or not...
I  updated Photoshop CC last week, and  now have Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014 in my applications folder. When I open a file created in Photoshop, it opens Photoshop. However, if I open another Photoshop file (by double-clicking on it), it opens up in a second Photoshop app (not the app that's already open)... so I have two Photoshops open at the same time. And both are CC versions.

  • Can I install two versions of SOA suite using same Oracle database

    Condition:
I installed Weblogic server(10.3.5) and SOA Suite(11.1.1.5), and
I used RCU 11.1.1.5 to create the schemas(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for it.
    Plan:
Now I plan to install another Weblogic server(10.3.6) and SOA Suite (11.1.1.6)
and I will used RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for it.
    Question:
Can I use same database(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for the two versions of SOA Suite? that is
Can I Run the RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for SOA Suite (11.1.1.6) on the oracle database server I already used for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5?
If I can use same database for the two versions of SOA Suite, how can I resolve schame name conflict?

    Hi
    1. YES. You can absolutely use SAME DB to have multiple Versions of SOA Schemas.
    2. Any SOA/BPM will need basically 4/5 schemas like SOAINFRA, MDS, ORABAM, ORASDPM etc. based on what you choose. And each of these Schemas can be Prefixed. Default prefix is like DEV, so schemas are like DEV_SOAINFRA, DEV_MDS etc
    3. Very Simple. When you Run RCU 11.6 and give the same old db details, in next screen it will automatically show the new Prefix for the schemas it will create. If DEV is used, it will show DEV1 like that. So just choose a Different Prefix and you are good to go.
I have the same thing on my side. Single Database. Multiple RCU for SOA 11.5 and SOA 11.6 with different Prefixes:
    SOA 11.5 -> DEV115_SOAINFRA, DEV115_MDS, DEV115_ORABAM etc
    SOA 11.6 -> DEV116_SOAINFRA, DEV116_MDS, DEV116_ORABAM etc
I Used the Prefixes like DEV115, DEV116 so that I know exactly which version of RCU schema they refer to.
For QC, UAT, PROD we used prefixes like QC_*, UAT_*, PROD_* etc.
NOTE: When you drop the schemas for some reason, make sure to give the appropriate prefixes so that only they are dropped and not others.
    Thanks

  • Two Adobe Reader versions installed: Can't remove ver 8.2.2

I want to know how to remove one of the two versions of Adobe Reader, both of which are now installed (simultaneously) on my Windows XP Home Edition system.
Add/Remove programs shows both of these:
-- Reader v8.2.2 (This is the one I can't get rid of).
-- Reader v9.3xx (This is the one I want to keep).
I can't remove the v8.2.2 program. Error message says to ask the vendor how to do it (or, something like that). Here I am, asking politely.
It should have been removed automatically (in my opinion) when I attempted to install version 9.3xx, but it didn't. Typical.
I need a simple solution that works.
Note: Version 10xx messed up my entire computer badly, therefore I do not want to install it again. It cost me a small fortune to get my OS running again. It was not a virus or malware, either. My system was clean before installing version 10xx.

You are correct. It was Adobe Flash v10xx that I meant instead of Reader.
I did a lot of reading in various web sites and forums about Microsoft's "Cleaner" tool that you recommended. Most people are saying that it can actually cause more problems than it solves. That's the main reason Microsoft stopped offering it. Apparently, the cleaner tool doesn't distinguish specific programs and their requirements when it removes dll's and other filetypes. It just removes all of them, which can disable other programs on my system that need them.
I wrote, originally hoping that Adobe itself would know how to get rid of a program that THEY put on my system. Yes, I agreed to installing it, but I believe any company who produces something for the Windows user-market, should make certain that people can uninstall it completely. It's their product. I shouldn't have to beg for help, go to Microsoft or any other place to get utilities (which are no longer supported!), to merely uninstall a program.
And, I noticed that this forum offers no way for me to EDIT my own posts! That's a shame, because I'd like to re-word it.
Although I appreciate your replying to me very much, at this point I'm afraid to use the utility you suggested. There must, or should be some other way to get rid of a program (which ADD/REMOVE Programs can't do). Adobe is at fault.
If I don't get another solution soon, I'll just delete this entire topic.
    Thank you, again.

  • Hiccup installing PS CS4 on Vista 64 - two versions

    Hello,
I just put together a new comp system based on Vista 64 (I used to have XP Pro 32 bit). So I reinstalled photoshop and to my surprise there are two versions in my startup menu (as well as on my C: drive)... one actually has 64 bit in the name and the other does not (so I assume it is the 32 bit version).
I'm not sure on the best way to deal with this... should I just delete the 32 bit icon in startup so I do not accidentally use it; or is there a way to just uninstall the 32 bit version only; or just uninstall the whole thing again and reinstall hoping it won't do it again?
I am just not sure if this is a big problem or not. I only had to enter my s/n number once and both versions seem to work. I also double checked in explorer and there are two instances of it... one in Program Files, and one in Program Files (x86).
Lightroom 2 seemed to install properly in Program Files.
Any insight on what to do with this would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Scott

It is normal. Both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions are intentionally installed on Vista x64 systems. You don't have to do anything to remove either one--in fact you shouldn't.
At this time many companies have not updated their plug-ins to be 64 bit so they will not work in the 64 bit version. Some existing 32 bit plug-ins operate ok when installed under the 32 bit version.

  • How to set a Photoshop version the default application when two versions are installed?

I have two versions of photoshop installed on my Mac. Double clicking on the Photo in Bridge CS6, the photo is opened in Photoshop CS5 (Photoshop CS5 (default). Haw can I set Photoshop CS6 as the default application?

Thanks for your prompt replay, I had already done what you suggested, but it does not work. When you open in Bridge File>Open with you still see Photoshop CS5 (default) and the file is opened automatically with Photoshop CS5 and not CS6 unless you specifically choose Open with Photoshop CS6. I vaguely remember that I found once somewhere "would you like Photoshop xxx to be your default option? but I cannot remember where and I cannot find it anymore

  • Two versions of Bridge installed - CS5 and CS5.1 - how to remove one?

Looks like this happened by installing Photoshop CS5.1 first, then Flash CS5 after that.  Now I have two versions of Adobe Bridge, along with Extension Manager and a bunch of other redundant stuff now
This is causing me multiple problems:
    1) the right-click menu "Browse with Adobe Brigde CS5" is set to the old version.  Probably because it installed afterward (?).  This is no good.  I want it to default to the newer version obviously.
    2) I am getting a lot of performance errors - the "not enough drive space" kind of error, when I just try to zoom in on a single small image in a folder with only a couple images in it.  Bear in mind I have 12GB of RAM running here.
How do uninstall the old versions!??  Note, I ALSO have an old old version of Adobe Bridge that came from an install of some CS2 components!!!  It's out of control and aggravating.
    Please help
    - Jon

It is usually recommeded you keep old versions rather than removing them.  Some users run in to file association problems when removing older versions.  The file association goes back to the version removed if you can comprehend that.
The versions should not conflict with one another.  HOWEVER, you can run only one Bridge version at a time.
It is also recommended you install programs in order.  So if you installed the newer one first and then the older one you can upset the file associate order.  You can try to fix that first and then uninstall if that does not work.  Go go edit.file type associations see what the dafault programs are listed as CS5 or CS5.1.  There is a radio button on the bottom to reset these to factory default, and this sometimes works.
If not I would uninstall CS5 and CS5.1 and install the older one first.  Or if you don't want CS5 on machine just install CS5.1.  To be on the safe side you could run Adobe Script cleaner which will delete bits that the uninstall process did not get.

  • Install two versions of Safari on the same Mac?

Is it possible to install two different versions of Safari on the same Macintosh? It looks like we'll need to test for both Safari 1.x and Safari 2.x. Or will we need to use two different computers?

One poster has said he had both Safari 1.2 and Safari 2.0.x running on the same machine under OS X 10.4.x, and another poster said he could not install Safari 1.2 under OS X 10.4.4. So I don't know if its possible or not. Even if you do get both installed, you may not see all of the differences you would in running Safari 1.2 or 1.3 under OS X 1.3.x and Safari 2.x under OS X 10.4 because if both are running under the same version of OS X, then both are using the same underlying Webcore technology. Some differences would still be apparent. The person who claimed to have both versions installed claimed that Safari 1.2 worked with some site he needed to use while Safari 2.x did not.

  • Installing two versions of AI

    Hi,
I currently have AI CS5 and I was looking into upgrading to AI CS6. The thing is I'd like to keep a copy of my cs5 on the same machine and have CS6 installed as well. What would be the right way to do this and is this possible?   This is a win7 machine with 16 gigs of RAM and I have tons of space too.
    Any hints appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for replying but that doesn't answer my question. And no I wouldnt like subscription and rather would just buy it once and for all. But is it possible to install two versions on the same machine, will there be any conflicts and is there  a step by step tutorial on how to accomplish this?
    thanks
