Two Versions of Itunes on same Computer

Hey guys, my brother has an Ipod and I'm going to get one. I was wondering if Windows can run two Itunes on the same computer. Since Itunes goes with a certain Ipod, I just wanted to know if I install it will it delete his Itunes, or will it not show up at all for me.
Thanks

I currently have a Mini using Version 5.?, having upgraded and had problems in the past with the various Quicktime versions that accompany it. I want to stick to this version.
I have bought my daughter a nano - which will need a different version of itunes.
Can she install it on her desktop of same computer without effecting my installation? Or should she install it on her brothers lap top? You can hear the arguments already!!!

she shouldn't have to upgrade anything with respect to itunes. the nano only needs version 4.9 to run properly:

  • Installing two versions of ELS on same computer

    Hi all.
What are the thought processes behind installing more than one version of the ELS (2.5 and 6.1) on the same Windows based PC?
    Are there any known issues?
    Thanks all.

  • Is it possible to have two sets of itunes on one computer.

    hey,
I had a ipod mini and i sent it to the ipod shop to be repaired when it broke. When i got it back i gave it to my sister and bought a new video 30GB ipod for myself. i was wondering how to set up two sets of itunes from my computer and whether it can be done. i used my old itunes and was able to put songs on my new 30GB ipod but when i logged into my computer in another account and tried to put songs from a different itunes on the mini ipod it wouldnt let me. im very confused and im not sure what to do. The mini ipod doesnt have any songs and is brand new. i want to know a way that i can have a seperate itunes for the mini ipod and a seperate itunes for the 30GB ipod.
    thanks

    Hi Tigerlily89,
    welcome to Apple Discussions,
I would suggest that you don't have your iPod set to automatically download all your contents of iTunes to your iPod, this way you are free to control what goes onto each of your iPods from the same Library.
When your iPod is connected to your computer and appears in iTunes goto Preferences iTunes and select iPod. You should see a little box at the bottom with words Enable Disk Use.
    Tick this box.
You should see that your iPod's contents in iTunes has now turned black rather than grey. This means that you can now manually drag songs out of your iTunes Library onto your mounted iPod icon on the side of your iTunes.
Eject your iPod via the little eject symbol to the right of your iPod pic in iTunes.
Now connect your Mini to your computer and wait.
Now drag from your main iTune library whatever you wish into the iPod Mini little pic.
You can delete whatever you want to off your iPods by just clicking on the icon then viewing the contents of the iPodusing the top right Browse button.
    Hop this helps you.

  • Can I access two different libraries on the same computer with the remote app?

I am in the process of upgrading our home network. There is going to be an airport express in each of the main rooms of our house all running to a switch connected to our AirPort Extreme. The reason for this is so we can stream our music in any or all of the rooms we choose.  I'm going to have a Windows 7 PC running iTunes constantly also connected so that we will have access to the entire library on any of our devices.  My entire library will be housed on an external hard drive that will be connected to the Extreme. Here is where it gets tricky. My wife has a separate library that we want to have access to as well. It is going to be housed on a separate external hard drive connected to the Extreme via a USB hub. I don't want to combine our libraries because hers is absolute chaos and mine is very well organized. Without having to have a second  computer running iTunes constantly, is there a way we can access both libraries simultaneously with the remote app? Either by running two instances of iTunes on one computer or some other way I'm not realizing. As it works right now, if we're both running iTunes on our laptops, then I can go onto my iPad and see both full libraries on the remote app. I want to do that, but with just one computer.

I doubt it is possible to run two instances of iTunes on the computer at the same time.  To do so would require two users to be signed in and running iTunes under each user.
The better solution would be to either clean up and merge the two libraries or have iTunes running on a second computer.

  • How do I sync two ipods with two different IDs on the same computer?

How do I sync two ipods with two different IDs on the same computer?

Simply connect them.  One computer with one iTunes can manage multiple devices.  They're tracked by S/N but you might wish to assign them unique names so that you can track them yourself.
The only minor issue is app updating and purchases while on the computer.  It's necessary to log out and back in to the "correct" ID.  Much easier to do these things from the iPods.

  • How do i sync two different ipads to the same computer, but maintain two seperate list of apps?

How can I sync two seperate ipads to the same computer without the apps from one ipad being loaded on the other?

Do this for each device. You can do this with all iTunes content as well. Apps, music, photos, books, movies - everything. You can have unique content on all of your devices.
You may also want to turn off auto sync so that you do not have to wait for the iPad to sync and then go back and make these changes.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices - check the box at the bottom.... Prevent iPods, iPhones ....
Then set up your sync preferences like this using Apps as the example.
Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on all of the apps that you want to sync to that iPad
Click on the Sync Apps Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You may want to uncheck Automatically Sync New Apps under the Sync Apps list

  • How do I divide a large catalogue into two smaller one on the same computer?

How can I divide a large catalogue into two smaller ones on the same computer?  Can I just create a new catalogue and move files and folders from the old one to the new one?  I am using PSE 12 in Windows 7.

    A quick update....
I copied the folder in ~Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes that contains all of my local mailboxes over to the same location in the new account. When I go into mail, the entire file structure is there, however it does not let me view (or search) any of the messages. The messages can be accessed through the Finder, though.
I tried to "Rebuild" the local mailboxes, but it didn't seem to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated.
