Two versions of Premiere two sound cards when capturing

We are television station and we encode shows that are sent to us on a daily basis. All shows that we get we are licensed to show. We are using Adobe Premiere CS4 to capture the videos as they come to us by way of satellite feed. It works well. We can also work on another project with CS4 while capturing. Problem. Sound. While we are capturing, we cannot test the sound because the capture and the time line work space uses the same sound card. Is there a way that we can set up two sound cards and have the time line work space use one while the capture uses another? Or can we use another version of Premiere, (we also have 2.0), and have that one assigned to a separate sound card so we can edit other shows while we are capturing?

Maybe use OnLocation for the capture process, while using Premiere for the other stuff.

  • Have you problems with sound card when playing Netflix movies on MacBook Pro ?

    We have been having difficulty playing movies recently and we called Netflix last night. Accrding to their error code, we should re-install sound cards they said. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm not sure what to do to remedy this issue? thank you!!

    I'm so ****** off that it's been weeks and no solution has been provided for this.  In the middle of video editing, watching quicktime videos, youtube, or playing any games the computer hard freezes with a black screen and looping audio of about 1/2 second.
    FIX IT!

  • Can I tunes support two sound cards?

    I'm a DJ that has recently been converted to a MacPro. I know that I can guy an airport extreme and use that to play the music form itunes, and preview the songs through my computers speakers.
    Can I use an external USB soundcard in the same way? Or can itunes only interface with the macbook internal soundcard and the airport extreme sound?

    You can set your computer's sound output to the USB audio device but this will put every sound your computer makes to the same device, not just iTunes.
    You might find useful the free utility SoundSource, available at Rogue Amoeba Freebies. It puts a menu in the right side of the menu bar allowing you to choose which sound device to use.
    I have not used their Audio Highjack or Audio Highjack Pro. It seems to be for recording audio from an application. Perhaps it will allow you to redirect sound.

  • AppStore version of Premiere Elements 11 crashes when I open it.

    Bought Premiere Elements 11 Editor on the AppStore on April 29, 2013.
    It crashed everytime I opened it while it was loading.
    I deleted it and downloaded it from the Appstore a second time.
    It still crashes everytime I open it.
    It crashes while it's loading "ImporterQuickTime.bundle".
    I don't know where or what exactly that is or where I can get another one.
    I don't know how to interpret the crash report.
    There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Adobe by email and send them a copy of the crash report.
    I already have Elements 11 Editor installed since it came out and don't have any problems with it.
    I'm on a MacBook Pro (late 2011) running the latest version of Mountain Lion.
    It has a SSD - 120 GB with 80 GB available.
    I'm the only one using my Mac - I'm the Administrator.
    I've Googled this problem and there seems to be a lot of people with exactly the same problem.
    I don't understand why Adobe hasn't found a solution for this problem?

    I gather you use Windows.
    I'm on a MacBook Pro.
    When I or anyone buys an app on the AppStore there is no installation disc or file.
    Apple installs the app directly in the Applications folder in Finder.
    Normally I or anyone clicks on the newly installed app and it starts up.
    I did not buy Premiere Elements 11 Editor on the Adobe site so I can not download it again from the site.
    I did install it a second time from the AppStore.
    Always the same problem — it crashes as it's loading.
    Normally when I have a problem with an app crashing I contact the developer by email.
    Most developers except for Adobe let us contact them by email.
    They always ask for a copy of the crash report.
    They read the report to find out why it's crashing and tell me how they or I can fix it.
    Adobe doesn't want it's customers to be able to contact them.
    It seems like they feel it's your or my problem.
    I did have a live chat with someone from Adobe and even let them share my screen.
    The person read the crash report but didn't tell me why the app crashed.
    The person couldn't really control my screen as I live in Europe and have a french Azerty keyboard.
    The person downloaded QuickTime Player 7 and I installed it but that didn't stop the app from crashing.
    The Adobe person just stopped the screen sharing and never contacted me after.
    The person has my email address but didn't feel it was necessary to really help me.
    The person just disappeared.
    I bought Elements 11 Editor on the Adobe site when it came out.
    I couldn't get the online purchase to work.
    I contacted Adobe with live chat and the Adobe staff couldn't get my purchase to work either.
    Finally they had me buy Elements 11 through a bulk buying Adobe store.
    It took me two days to buy the app.
    I do like Elements 11 Editor a lot and use it every day.
    I watched some videos about Premiere Elements 11 Editor and I think it'll be as good as Elements 11.
    I bought Premiere 11 on the AppStore to avoid having the problems I had before buying on the Adobe site.
    I was surprised and disappointed when it kept crashing.
    I could just contact Apple and get a refund but I'd like to have the Premiere 11 app.
    Adobe staff don't really seem to be interested in helping.
    A staff member moved my thread to the Premiere forum but didn't even try to help me.
    I Googled my problem.
    Premiere Elements 11 Editor crashes while loading "ImporterQuickTime.bundle".
    I'm not the only customer this happens too.
    I would like someone from Adobe to read my crash report and tell me why it crashes.
    I don't know how to read it as I'm just a junior Nerd.
    I'm still learning.
    So far the advice I've been offered doesn't really address my situation.
    It would be great if another Mac user could offer some help
    as they would understand about the AppStore and how it works.
    Your post refered to a few things.
    Tell me exactly what you think would fix my crashing problem.
    Don't make me guess what I should do as I'm not an expert.
    Please no links — tell me clearly what you think would fix the crashes.
    Remembering that I'm on a Mac and I bought the app on the AppStore.
    If you need more info just ask me.
    I'm an english speaking Canadian (from near Toronto)
    now living in the french speaking part of Belgium (which is in Europe).
    My Mac is entirely in english as I don't know french well enough to use it on my Mac.
    But I have a french Azerty keyboard.
    I'm not into forums but as Adobe doesn't give a very good aftersales service,
    I find myself here looking for an answer to my problem.
    I just want Premiere Elements 11 Editor to work as it should do.
    If you can help me I'd appreciate it alot.

  • 3 .o update   junked two sim cards

    my 3g iphone has disabled two sim card
    when I went to synch my iphone i was told there are updates available. i accepted and moved through the process of upgrading itunes then upgrading the the phone. after okaying the phone os update i went to bed expecting the system to be up in the morning. i got the error that i needed to install my sim card (i checked it, it has never been out )
    after three hours with apple and re installing itunes on two different computers. then a trip to the att store to get a new sim card (after which the phone worked as a fresh os 3 install) and making and receiving calls
    i go back to the computer to replace my contacts.... and it wipes out another sim card, i have tried restore and another hour with apple on the phone, only to be told they cannot get me an appointment or a replacement before Wednesday, after sharing my dissatisfaction they got me an appointment on Tuesday
    what a great phone and company,, they got the nicest people on the phone to tell you they cannot help you.

    Let me see if i got this straight. You have two iDevices. One is an iPad, which uses 3G Data. The other one is an iPhone 5s. You plan on purchasing two plans, One thats has only 3G Data, and the other one that has only phone calls, and messages.The answer to your question is Yes. At least i done that with t-mobile USA. If your iPad is compatible with nano-sim cards, yes you can. If not, you will have to buy an iPad with nano-sim such as the iPad mini 3G. This is totaly possible.

  • [SOLVED] USB sound card problems and audio setup

    I want to clarify and correctly set up my ThinkPad T61 sound system finally.
    I'm running Arch64 + KDE.
    There are two sound cards - the internal HDA Intel and external USB CM118.

    card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    First of all, why are there both analog and digital subdevices?
    I just need playback and/or recording support for these applications: opera, firefox, skype, clementine, mplayer, vmplayer. As high quality as possible.
    Per-application sound control would be nice but if that adds too much clutter, I could live without it. No need for audio streaming or any other luxuries.
    All the applications should use the USB card whenever it's plugged in. The internal SC should take over when CM118 is unplugged.
    The problem is that most of the time it doesn't work. For example, if I plug out the USB card and then run some application like Clementine or Firefox there would be no sound ("connection refused" in Clementine).
    Here is my asound.conf:
    defaults.pcm.card 0
    defaults.pcm.device 0
    defaults.ctl.card 0
    Also kMix/amix should switch the master channel from HDA Intel Master to C-Media Master automatically. The only way to do this is to write some kind of script, right?
    AFAIK the following audio components are installed: ALSA, OSS (for some unknown reason), Phonon, Gstreamer.
    I guess I can uninstall OSS without worries as no one seems to need it (checked with "whoneeds").
    What about that Phonon? Would it override the asoud.conf if I set default device there? Why there are so many different devices in the Phonon configuration list:
    C-Media USB Headphone Set, USB Audio (Default Audio Device)
    C-Media USB Headphone Set (USB Audio)
    C-Media USB Headphone Set, USB Audio (IECblablabla)
    hw:1,0
    hw:1,1
    default
    Intel Analog
    Intel Digital
    blablalba
    And that C-Media triplet for every USB port the CM118 has been plugged in.
    Too much confusion! All that mess for just two different cards.
    So what is the proper way of setting primary and secondary sound cards in this situation?
    Thank you!

    I am sorry for my very late response and the lack of structure in my post.
    I did some investigation and found a rather acceptable workaround for one of my problems described below.
    Here is the basic functionality I need:
    1. Automatic (on the fly) switching to the external sound card when it's plugged in and automatic fallback to the integrated SC when usb is unplugged.
    2. Automatic (on the fly) switching of the kMix's master channel according to the changes mentioned above.
    As for the first problem, I found this udev rule:
    KERNEL=="pcmC[D0-9cp]*", ACTION=="add", PROGRAM="/bin/sh -c 'K=%k; K=$${K#pcmC}; K=$${K%%D*}; echo defaults.ctl.card $$K > /etc/asound.conf; echo defaults.pcm.card $$K >>/etc/asound.conf"
    KERNEL=="pcmC[D0-9cp]*", ACTION=="remove", PROGRAM="/bin/sh -c 'echo defaults.ctl.card 0 > /etc/asound.conf; echo defaults.pcm.card 0 >>/etc/asound.conf'"
    This solution has some disadvantages but it is acceptible. If you know of any better solution, please tell me.
    For the second problem, I found this script which uses qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster method to set the master channel. However, I think that constant monitoring for the usb SC being plugged is not very effective. So I thought appending the following code to the second line of the previous udev rule would do the work:
    , RUN+="/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster "ALSA::C-Media_USB_Headphone_Set:1" "Speaker:0""
    But that results in some weird behaviour: master channel stays the same but there would be three new tabs in the kMix window now: USB Set", USB Set# and USB Set$.
    Here's what log messages tell us:

    07/14/12 12:25:14 PM localhost mtp-probe bus: 3, device: 13 was not an MTP device
    You see, the probe thing is running multiple times!
    And here is an excerpt from udev debugger:
    starting '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster '
    '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster '(err) 'Could not connect to D-Bus server: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11'
    '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster ' [2769] exit with return code 1
    Some kind of X11 problem... And also happening twice! Why?
    Running the setCurrentMaster method in terminal works very nicely, so the problem must be the way udev runs it.
    One last thing - sometimes the usb SC automatically reconnects (disconnects and connects). I read somewhere that most probably the usb device makes the trouble, but maybe there are other possiblities?

  • Can a sound card be configured to both output and input audio?

    I am building a radio tester and would like to output a 1 kHz tone from the laptop's sound card, and then after its been through the radios, input the audio signal again and carry out a SINAD measurement on it.  I can get the VI's to carry out each operation separately  (that is, get one to produce and output a 1 kHz tone, and the other to read an input audio signal and produce a SINAD measurement), but I can't get the two to work together as required.
    I think the problem is to do with the device number.  In both VI's the device number is set as 0, so does this cause a problem when running them together.  The tone is being generated fine, but but it appears that this is what the SINAD VI is measuring, not the input coming from the radio.
    Does the device number refer to the sound card itself, and if so, is it possible to distinguish between the audio in and audio out ports?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    You certainly can - just look at your Windows Soundcard settings and play
    with them for a bit. Are you using Line in and Line out? (speaker that is).
    What I do is test them separately then together.You don't need two sound
    cards by the way though you must inhibit line in so it doesn't play through
    the speakers otherwise the input and output get mixed together.The otehr
    problem you should have is that teh sine wave will sound as if it is
    intermittant - there is a fix for this.

  • KT880 Delta LSR doesn't support second sound card?

    Hello,
    I've just bought my new KT880 Delta board because of burning my old KT4V.
    In my last configuration Ii had sound on bord (5.1) and one sound card added for microphone and headphones.
    Now i can't force my KT880 Delta LSR to support two sound card on the same time. When I don't plug PCI card system support card-on-board.
    But when I add this PCI card system dosen't see onboard card. In BIOS onbord card is turned on.
    What should I do to solve my problem?

    maxisus, maybe the PCI card is conflicting with onboard?
    have you tried the PCI sound card in another slot?
    No, i didn't try. I thought that is no different witch pci slot you use.

    yes, i've formated hdd and installed all once again

    also KT880 probably needs more power than KT4V - if your PSU is now not powerful enough, some devices cannot start up correctly.
    I have got 350 Watt - i bought new because of special 4-pin plug for CPU. In the shop gays sad PSU should be enought for my configuraction of pc.

  • I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?

    I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?
    The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
    I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
    My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks
    Wayne

    kmiddlet88,
    yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

  • Solution: 2 sound cards; setting one as default

    I've got 2 sound cards in my system: one onboard and one an add-in PCI card. I want to make the better card, the PCI card, the default. But the system seems to detect the onboard sound card first and wants to make it the default card.
    I'm coming from Debian/Ubuntu where I had found a solution for this problem. I can't recall exactly what I did to get the PCI card selected as default, but it was probably by specifying modprobe order in /etc/modules. And I couldn't recall the URL of the page where I found that solution. To top it all off, what works under Ubuntu/Debian ain't necessarily gonna work under Arch.
    So, I began searching the web for solutions for this problem, favoring results that dealt with Arch. I found a few things that seemed to be relevant but, on careful reading, I found them confusing. I couldn't find any very specific directions to do what I was trying to do under Arch. Instead, I found various bits and pieces of information that seemed relevant but that needed to be put in some comprehensible form. So, I resorted to some fiddling around, hoping I would stumble on a solution. I think I have stumbled onto the solution to the problem of making one of two sound cards be the system's default sound card--at least it appears to be working now on my system. This post will therefore be an attempt to put the necessary information into order, providing a routine that others who may be faced with this task may follow.
    The steps are as follows: 1) install alsa-utils; 2) as root, run alsaconf; 3) appropriately edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/sound that alsaconf created in step 3; 4) reboot to find the card you wanted to be the default sound card actually selected as the system's default. An important note: I didn't use alsaconf to do any sound card configuration, though that is its job. The only real role alsaconf played in the routine I used was to create the /etc/modprobe.d/sound file (it seems to create that file after you successully run the command alsaconf). Perhaps the file could be simply created de novo (sudo touch /etc/modprobe.d/sound , set permissions appropriately) and there would be no need to even run alsaconf. I didn't try that, but anyone following these instructions might want to consider doing it this way. Please post your results in this thread if you manually create that file rather than using alsaconf for creating the file.
    After I ran alsaconf, the /etc/modprobe.d/sound file contained only two lines, and those lines were specific to the onboard sound chip that I did NOT want to be the default sound card on my system. The lines looked like this:
    alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
    From documentation I had read, I understood that the zero (0) in these entries was an indication that this onboard Intel sound card would be the default card. If the /etc/modprobe.d/sound file had contained entries for both my cards (not sure why it didn't), then one set of entries (referring the system's default sound card) would have a zero associated with them, while the other set of two entries (referring to the non-default, second sound card) would have had a one (1) associated with them.
    With this information in mind, I then managed to get information from my system (by using lsmod, I believe) on what was the module name for my second, PCI card--the one I wanted to be the system's default sound card. The module name is snd_ymfpci. Once I had that information, I manually added a second set of two lines to /etc/modprobe.d/sound so that the file looked as follows:
    alias snd-card-0 snd_ymfpci
    alias sound-slot-0 snd_ymfpci
    alias snd-card-1 snd-intel8x0
    alias sound-slot-1 snd-intel8x0
    As you can see, the entries for the snd_ymfpci have a zero associated with them, while the built-in intel sound card entries have a one (1) associated with them. I wasn't at all sure that this would bring the desired results but I found that, once I rebooted the system, that the add-in PCI card was actually now the default card for the system, while the intel onboard card was non-default. Thus, I believe I've stumbled on a solution for making the system use one of two sound cards on the system as the default sound card.
    Please feel free to add to or correct my instructions. I can't claim infallible expertise in this matter, so there could well be mistakes in either my understanding or in the steps I've spelled out here. Or perhaps there's just a simpler way to do this under Arch.

    Btw: I'm using the gnome environment. There seems to be a conflict, or at least some friction, between alsa's sound controls and those of the gnome desktop environment. It's a separate problem, but is there some way I can make gnome's sound controls (e.g., gnome's volume control) override alsa's? So far I've found myself using alsamixer to make any real adjustments to the sound.

    I've written some post about it somewhere, but there's other ways of setting a default card. What I use at the moment (in XFCE):
    The output of  cat /proc/asound/cards:
    user ~  $   cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [CMI8738        ]: CMI8738-MC6 - C-Media CMI8738
                          C-Media CMI8738 (model 55) at 0x9c00, irq 17
    1 [NVidia         ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
                          HDA NVidia at 0xfe020000 irq 20
    2 [U0x46d0x8d7    ]: USB-Audio - USB Device 0x46d:0x8d7
                          USB Device 0x46d:0x8d7 at usb-0000:00:02.0-8, full speed
    3 [default        ]: USB-Audio - USB Audio DAC
                          Burr-Brown from TI               USB Audio DAC    at usb-0000:00:02.0-5, full s
    I want to switch between sound-device "CMI8738" and "default" ("default" is a system label not set by me; it's a bit confusing but as you see the system has given the other USB-Audio device another unique label). You could also use the ID numbers, but the drawback of that is that it might change if you plug and unplug USB-Audio devices, hence the unique label is a better choice.
    I choose to make a directory like this: /usr/sound. In sound I've to files, could be more if I wanted to switch between other cards as well. First file, named by me "asound_usb":
    pcm.!default {
      type hw
      card default
      ctl.!default {
      type hw
      card default
    Another named "asound_pci":
    pcm.!default {
      type hw
      card CMI8738
      ctl.!default {
      type hw
      card CMI8738
    The idea is to copy the preferred file to /etc/asound.conf. Hence I made two simple scripts in /bin. "alsa_usb":
    #!/bin/sh
    cp /usr/sound/asound_usb /etc/asound.conf && /etc/rc.d/alsa restart
    And another "alsa_pci":
    #!/bin/sh
    cp /usr/sound/asound_pci /etc/asound.conf && /etc/rc.d/alsa restart
    Writing in terminal from root "alsa_usb" or "alsa_pci" will switch default sound-device. Nothing fancy but pretty handy in my view. If someone prefer to have a desktop entry in /usr/share/applications you could use gksu for example. One I named "alsa_switch_usb.desktop":
    [Desktop Entry]
    Type=Application
    Name=Alsa switch - USB
    Comment=Eget skript
    Icon=sonata-stock_volume-max.png
    Exec=gksu -u root alsa_usb
    Terminal=false
    StartupNotify=false
    Categories=Application;AudioVideo;
    Another "alsa_switch_pci.desktop":
    [Desktop Entry]
    Type=Application
    Name=Alsa switch - PCI
    Comment=Eget skript
    Icon=sonata-stock_volume-max.png
    Exec=gksu -u root alsa_pci
    Terminal=false
    StartupNotify=false
    Categories=Application;AudioVideo;
    I don't know whether this is an ugly solution or not. Whatever the case is it works very well... for me. The asound.conf works of course as a permanent setting, I just prefer the switch option.

  • [SOLVED] multiple sound cards?

    Why i have two sounds cards in my system?
    bagheera@tux:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [PCH ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH
    HDA Intel PCH at 0xfa400000 irq 53
    1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
    HDA NVidia at 0xfa080000 irq 17
    i don't have /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf file.
    My modbo is Asus P8H67-M EVO R3.0 and video card is GeForce GTX 460.
    nvidia card has 4 spdif channels. Is that 4 hdmi outputs in my GFX card? In fact it is 2xDVI an 1xhdmi

    My system is similar;
    [ninez@ninez ~]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
    HDA NVidia at 0xf9f78000 irq 21
    1 [NVidia_1 ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
    HDA NVidia at 0xfbffc000 irq 19
    I'm pretty sure the 2nd device is HDMI, but i haven't used it anyway, as i use an external audio interface.

  • Multichannel sound card setup

    Hey!
    I am trying to, in some way, enable multichannel output from my sound cards as a part of the default audio output from my MacBook Pro.
    The main goal is to use four of the total 10 outputs i have available.
    At the moment i have this hardware:
    Usb sound card: Native instruments Core 1. 2 outputs, 2 inputs
    Usb sound card: DAC driver, 2 outputs. These are actually a pair of Argon speakers which do have a USB input.
    FireWire: Infrasonic Deux 0448. 4 outputs, 2 inputs.
    Speakers:
    Pair of Yamaha HS-50
    Argon Speakers(not sure of model, it really does not matter)
    Both of the speaker do have analog inputs.
    I have merged all of these sound cards in all different constellations but I am still not able to make my macbook output audio in 4 channels as default. My main idea is to make the speakers work like a pair of stereo speakers. So I have one Yamaha speaker on top of an Argon speaker and they both play the same sound. So what I am really looking for is, not to merge two sound cards but, to merge output channels.
    For example i want to deliver the same "left pan" audio to the hardware output on the Deux soundcard, say channel 1 and 3 is the left ones and 2 and 4 are the right ones. The problem is this: I only get audio from 1,2 or 3,4 not all four at the same time.
    The Sound/Midi settings does not allow me to use quadraphonic output as a tool of delivering sound to all of the speakers. I don't understand this, is the quadraphonic setup only for quadraphonic designed sound only? Cause what i really do need is two pairs of stereo outputs, software wise.
    Does anyone know how I can overcome this problem?
    Any answers that can help me with this are welcome!
    My MacBook Specs:
    MacbookPro late 2011
    Processor  2,2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    OS X 10.9.5

    OK, that link did help some.  KDE isn't giving the error any more, but sound still isn't working, sort of.
    I tried mpg321 and xmms on one of my mp3 files that I know works fine, both report that they are playing the file, but nothing comes out of the speakers.  Yes, I've checked the volume on the speakers, they work fine in windows and redhat.
    Info Center shows Sound Driver:3.8.1 a-980706 (ALSA v0.9 Orc3 emulation code)
    My rc.local looks like:
    modprobe snd-cs4236
    modprobe snd-cs4236-lib
    modprobe snd-pcm-oss
    chown sasdav.users /dev/sound/*
    And my modules.conf has:
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-cs4236
    alias eth0 3c59x
    Obviously I'm missing something, any clue what it might be?
