Two versions of skype on my ipad under ios 7

hi,
i just dscovered, that there are running two versions of skype on my ipad under ios7. the latest one and a bit older version. how could it be? the appstore automati ally overwrites older versions. anybody has the same problem? i was able to delete it without any problem, but wondered why there can be two versions of the same programm. my ipad is NOT jailbreaked.
thanks

You can more than one copy of the QuickTime Player app but you can have only one QuickTime set of "frameworks".
Move 6.5 from Applications folder to your Desktop and change its name (I used 6.5 in the name).
Double check the QuickTime Sys Prefs/Register to make certain it is Pro.
Install version 7.
Now you have two QuickTime Player apps. Old on the Desktop and new in the Applications folder. Use the About QuickTime menu in each and you'll see 6.5 is running "on top" of version 7.

  • Is apple providing ipads under iOS 6? Even refurbished?

    Hi,
My iPad 3 started to show strange behavior yesterday, pretending to "download" apps when I was trying to launch them, then failing to download them.
No way to close them, only delete them.
Thus I decided to restore the latest backup, not an update. I was under iOS 6 and don't want iOS 7 (aka Android).
Despite the fact I said NO to all update request, and to stop asking me about updating, it did.
Now I'm left with that 7.1.1 tablet.  I'm very upset to say the least.
Since there is no way to go back to iOS 6.n, does anybody know whether Apple still provides iPads under iOS 6 in the refurbished program or are they forcing that iOS7 on each of them now?
Any link? I'm not willing to buy from eBay, only an official refurbished iPad under iOS 6.
    Thanks for any help

    To globally close this topic...
I found a Wifi64Gb with iOS 6.1.2 and will remain with this, just as I won't move out of Maverick for the same reasons (next OS/X is likely to get the same iOS7 "design").
No, Win95/7 did not excite me at all. Windows products are no OS to me, even though 90% of my developments are targeted at them (I have no choice).
No I never changed the interface of my software in a manner that the end user finds something totally different. The only adjustments were what was requested by my users, like menus, functionalities, but not the look and organizational flow.
I changed designs and/or way of using the software only for new products that started with an empty user base.
Yes, if I toss Apple in the future for Android or Windows it's because at least I would buy the "real thing", not an OS that then changes to be a pale copy of an already bad product, without questions asked, imposed and no way to get back.
At least when MicrobeSoft released the "ribbons" instead of the menus, you still could use previous Office versions and buy them, you were not forced to get the Ribbons.

  • Two versions of Skype

On my lab top PC are installed two kinds of Skype:" Skype Click to Call"-publisher Microsoft Corporation installed on 05/27/2015,Size 17.5MB,Version 7.4.0.9058 and "Skype 7.6"-publisher Skype Technologies S.A.installed07/05/2015,Size 121MB Version 7.6.105. Which One do I have to use and which one to uninstall? Thank you, Nikolay.

You don't need Click-to-Call add-on for beings able to use Skype. This is only an extra add-on which enables making Skype phone calls by directly pressing on phone numbers shown on Web pages. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA801/what-is-skype-click-to-call

  • How is it possible to cancel (not suspend) a video download from iTunes Store (iPad under iOs 6)? (I do not have sufficient storage space on my iPad)

    Hi,
I am facing the following difficulty with my iPad (model MD369NF/A) under iOs 6.1.3.
I have bought 2 videos on iTunes Store, but I do not succeed in downloading them: an error message mentions that iPas does not have enough storage capacity.
As a matter of face, when I look at the way the storage is used, I find “Others” for around 10 Go (is there some king of reserved space for the downloading of videos from iTunes Store?), and only a very small number of Mo available.
I would simply like to cancel the downloading of the 2 videos, and hope that it would free the "Others" storage space (in the hypothesis that "Others" is space reserved for videos once downloaded), but I do not manage to do it. I can suspend the downloading, but I do not see how to cancel it.
Would you have a solution to propose ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Nicolas

    Hey Nicolas36,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines issues with free space, capacity, and a large amount of "other" space. You'll want to connect your iPad to your computer with iTunes to follow the steps:
iOS: 'Not enough free space' alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
One symptom of this issue will be displayed in iTunes where the Capacity indicator for the iOS device will report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the device. To resolve this issue:
    - Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    - Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    - Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • When will the new version of Skype come to iPad?

The iPhone version is currently at 5.9.0.774, which supports the direct connections only function. Yes, the function that won't leak your IP if you enable it.
This function exists currently on the iPhone version of the app. Does anyone know when this function will be implemented in the iPad version?

No one knows this answer except those at Apple.  If it hasnt been announced, no one else knows.

  • No event updates on iPad under iOS 7.04

Perhaps this was always a problem, but I have only noticed it since upgrading our iPads (1 iPad2 & 1 iPad3) to iOS 7.
When I modify an event in Outlook 2013 and send an update of the invitation to an iPad user
No add/update option is visible in iPad's Mail.
No change is visible in the iPad Calender.
When clicking on the ics attachment in the received update message iPad Mail, the information displayed is the data of the original invitation / event, not the updated information.
This applies to changes in the subject, location and notes fields, I haven't yet tried changing the time/date.
Even if I uninvite an iPad user and send an update
No option to remove the event from the iPad Calender is visible in Mail.
The only way I have found to remove the event from the invitee's iPad Calender is to decline it on the iPad.
    What is going on here?
Why aren't the changes / updates in the events / invitations recognized on the iPad?
How can I get this to work as expected?
    TIA for any tips!

P.S. The problem also occurs with invitations sent by other e-mail programs (Thunderbird/Lightning) and changes in time are also not respected.

  • Behaviour of Smart Cover on iPad Under iOS 7

Since upgrade to iOS 7 I can't seem to get the Smart Cover to work as I would expect.  Assume that I have enabled the "lock / unlock" in settings. Pass code lock is off, and auto lock is set to 2 minutes.  Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks.  And worth a try.
Strangely, I have a Logitech thin keyboard / cover that *does* work. And (worryingly) I can make the device sleep with the Smart Cover by taking it off the iPad, and waving the magnet at the top right of the iPad screen. This is a current generation of the iPad, but an earlier generation of the Smart Cover. Could it be that there has been a design change that makes the earlier cover work less reliably?  Or might the strength of the magnet in the Logitech cover have "done something" to the sensor to make it less easily activated?
All part of life's rich tapestry.

  • Utilizing Adobe Reader version 11.6.3 in Ipad running IoS 8.1

I am unable to open Adobe Forms that have been digitally signed with PKI Certificates. Is there Guidance on Viewing the PKI Signed Files on IoS? When I Load the PDF via ITunes, Drop Box, Icloud makes no difference, the File states that : "Please Wait" " If this Message is not eventually replaced by the Proper Contents of the Document, Your PDF Viewer may not be able to display this type of Document".

    Thanks for the explanation  Darrell.
I understand the security risks associated with inserting an electronic scribble signature into to a pdf document, but it is no less secure than our current practice of scanning ink signatures.
The functionality that I was querying was the ability to have a scribble signature inserted into a form field in order to keep it in the constraints of the required signing area.
I understand Adobe's policy of not wanting to allow scribble signatures in a form field labled as a digital signature field.
Would it not be possible to allow the creation of an electronic scribble signature field?
I would love to make use of your EchoSign facility, but my company does not want to allocate funds from our budget to pay for the subscription.

  • My Macbook pro 10.5.8 will not download the new version of skype

I am abroad at the moment - suddenly Skype cut out, informing me that the version was outdated.  I need skype to operate for my work -  the new version of skype won't download...  do I need to upgrade my Macbookpro 10.5.8 now?

    MissDizzy,
not necessarily. You can try running Skype 2.8, which Mac OS X 10.5.8 should be able to use if you add the following line to your /etc/hosts file:
    127.0.0.1       ui.skype.com
(The whitespace between the “1” and the “ui” should be a single tab character.)
If you’d rather not use an older version of Skype and edit one of your system files, you could instead purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard onto your MacBook Pro, run Software Update to get it updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8, and then see if you can download and run the latest version of Skype.
If the latest version of Skype doesn’t run under Mac OS X 10.6.8, you could then download either Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks from the Mac App Store (which will be available to you once you have Mac OS X 10.6.8 installed), install the newer OS, and run Software Update again to get up to date. (Note that if you have an Early 2006 MacBook Pro, you’ll only be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard; if you have a Late 2006 model, you can only upgrade up to Lion. Lion and Mountain Lion are not gratis; Mavericks is gratis. If you upgrade past Snow Leopard, then you might need more RAM to run well.)

  • Why no Ipad versions of Skype or Yahoo messenger yet?

I am really surprised that native iPad versions of skype and yahoo messenger haven't come out yet. I'm beginning to think that it has something to do with ATT? It just doesn't make sense that those companies would not release versions by now.
The iPhone versions suck on the iPad. Plus the iPhone version of yahoo messenger doesn't even come with voice in or out. I use yahoo voice to make calls on my iMac all the time. Kinda blows I can't do so on my iPad yet.
What gives? Anyone know? Why the delay?
    Thanks

This is really a user to user forum for Apple products. I don't think anyone here is an expert on non-Apple apps. Furthermore, if you need to complain, why aren't you doing it at forums focused on the two products you're discussing.
That being said, Skype's app does work on the iPad, though not well. It doesn't work over 3G (or at least not well). And it can't work in the background, because iOS 4 is not available for the iPad.
The iPad makes a pretty bad iPhone, to be honest. It's huge. And when you're using Skype, you can't do anything else. Reading several comments by Skype from way back in April, it appears that they are not working on an iPad version at this time. Who knows what they're doing when iOS 4 shows up.
But you really need to take your complaints to Yahoo and Skype.

  • Two iPads under one apple account at AppStore

    Dear community !
Please advice is it possible to use two iPads under one Apple account in Apostore ? It's necessary for me to get the same apps for my iPad and for my wife's one.

you can do this with no problems. i have several 4 ipads/iphones all using the same apple account with no issues. in itunes you can choose which apps go to each ipad/iphone - by default all apps go to each, but you can turn this off and choose what you want. a bonus of using the same account is that if you do want the same app, you only have to buy it once.

  • How can I retain two versions of my iPad backup in iTunes?

    HI,
When I backup my iPad on iTunes, the previous backup is automatically deleted and a new back is created.
How can I retain two versions of my iPad bacup in iTunes?
    Thanks, Ramani

Backup the device. Immediately restore the backup. The restored backup is now archived and a new rolling backup set is created. You can repeat as needed and clear older backups from Edit > Preferences > Devices.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
        1.    Go into the iPad's Settings.
        2.    Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
        3.    The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
        4.    Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
        5.    Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
        1.    If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
        2.    Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
        3.    After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
        4.    If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
        5.    After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
        6.    From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
        7.    After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
        8.    After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
