Two w2408h monitors,extended desktop..2nd not recognized at cold start?

Hi All:
HPe9180f with Vista 64 bit Home Premium.
I have two HP w2408h monitors, purchased and installed on the above computer,when new. I have tried Tech Support who have certainly tried to take "ownership" of my issue, but with no solution, I have given up.
My issue is that I can work correctly with both monitors, extended desktop mode, if I never shut off my computer....if I do, the second monitor will not turn on during a cold start. My workaround, discovered by accident, is to log on in a non-admin user, wait until all programs, etc are loaded and then Restart....my second monitor then activates. Does anybody know what to do to do to make Windows/ Bios recognize that I have two monitors permanently in use at all times, especially at startup?

GC, I would search for an updated driver for you video card/chip. This sounds like it may be a driver problem. Video and Audio problems are very difficult to diagnose from afar. So, I always begin with the most obvious solutions. Just call me "Mr. Obvious".

Dual Display, 2 Monitors - Extended Desktop

Hello Everyone:
There isn't a clear cut answer or solution in connected a Macbook Air to 2 external monitors in an attempt to create an extended desktop. I have read older posts that it's either doable or not doable. My questions are the following:
-Is it possible to connect a new Macbook Air to 2 external monitors for extended desktop purposes?
-Some users have reported lag issues (mouse dragging , delays, etc.). Will this happen for sure with a Macbook Air or is it a monitor issue?
-What's the best non-Apple monitor brand that would work best with a Macbook Air for dual display purposes? I've read that Dells have a problem in this regard.
-What would be the advantage or disadvantage of using a dock station in setting up a dual display environment? Would this add to the lag, latency factor?
I'm thinking of investing in a new Macbook Air, but I want to make sure I dont end up with silly issues - such as latency, monitors, etc.

Yes, extended desktop works with monitors set to differant resoultions. the Monitors pref pane allows you to select relative arrangements and rez of all monitors composing the extended desktop.
personally I run a dell CRT at 2304 X 1728 @ 60Hz along with an NEC 6FG a 2048 X 1280 @ 60Hz off a radeon 9800pro on an MDD.

Displaying front row on external monitor (extended desktop)

Hi,
I've buyed a MacBook (black) and a VGA cable to connect to an external monitor. I've configured as extended desktop, no problem to work with regular apps...
But i would like to display Front Row on the external monitor, and not on the internal... it should be possiible as i see many people talking about this kind of configuration, but i do not success...
Can someone tell me how to display front row on the external monitor, or point me where i can configure front row ?

Thanks, it's a good beginning, but it make the external display also the default for everything else like menu bar,... i do not want to use the whole macbook on the TV, i just want to use the DVD, video clips, photos,... on the TV... it seems for me a regular use : using the mac for the softwares,... and the TV only for the multimedia display...

Dual Monitor (Extended Desktop) Information Requested

I am gathering information regarding the addition of an additional monitor to serve as an extended desktop for my iMac 2GHz Intel Core Duo (purchased in early 2006).
Questions:
1) Is it possible for this 2 1/2 year iMac to have an additional monitor?
2) My iMac has a Mini-DVI port on the back. While looking at other monitors, I have been seeing 15 pin High-Density D-shell (VGA), Video - 24 pin DVI-D, and Video - HDMI interface inputs
3) Which one of those interface types is recommended?
4) Does Apple require a proprietary cable to connect with the above mentioned monitor?

Yes it is possible to have an additional monitor. I would compare the 20" iMac display to DVI quality although I believe HDMI is the highest quality (probably comparable to the 24" iMac displays). You will need a mini-DVI adapter to connect any display (see link below). I would recommend a DVI connection using a monitor the same size as your iMac that can handle the same resolution as your iMac display. If unsure what this resolution is go to system preferences>displays.

You can also read some of the reviews from this mini-DVI adapter as most of them are trying to do what you are doing. You will also need a standard DVI cable (sometimes included with monitor) to connect to the new monitor to this adapter. There is also a mini-DVI to VGA adapter - although I wouldn't recommend this connection because it will be lower quality than your regular display. And a cable that connects DVI to HDMI if you decide to go that route.

Finder will not launch from cold start

I have noticed a problem. When I cold start my quad G5, the finder will not start (I know this because the files on the desk top are not displayed). The activity monitor shows FINDER NOT RESPONDING. I reboot and then everything works fine. any ideas???

T43 extended desktop (2nd monitor) maxes at 1280x768

I use an HD Flat panel TV with computer monitor capability as a 2nd monitor for extending my desktop. This 2nd monitor has a very high resolution capability (the manual recommends a setting of 1920x1080 for computer connections).  The T43 display settings dialogue limits this second monitor to 1280x768 pixels, even though it allows much higher resolutions for the T43's built-in screen (I currently run at 1400x1050).
I see no Lenovo driver updates that address resolution issues for a 2nd monitor, but would really like to take advantage of a higher 2nd monitor resolution in my work.  Am I limited by my video hardware, video driver, BIOS, or what?  Is there a solution to my problem?

HP Pavilion 500-336 Desktop PC not recognizing NVidia GeForce GT610 graphics card

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion 500-336 Desktop PC and I already had a EVGA NVDIA GeForce GT610 graphics card. When I try and install the graphicas card, I get the 6 beeps. So, I googled the problem and somebody had suggested to disable hyperthreading in the BIOS and go to legacy mode from UEFI mode which I did as well.
However, my monitor still doesn't turn on and goes to power saving mode. Please help. The customer service rep said the power supply needs to be upgraded, but I don't think this is true. This graphics card is not that power hungry.

Hi:
You do not disable hyperthreading in the BIOS. I recommend you go back and enable that setting.
Please see this document for what settings you need to change in the BIOS when you install a non-HP video card...

Hello, I have no idea if my question went out, so I'll post it again. I have two iPads (one 3rd gen and one 4th) that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to game with each other, but the apps recognize them as the same. I have created two different iCloud accounts in an attempt to differentiate between the two, but no luck. How can I continue to use the same iTunes/store account for music and movies, but also have the two devices recognize each other for games?

You can share your iTunes ID and still have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs, they don't have to be the same. If you kids don't already have an iCloud account, have them set up separate accounts on their devices using separate IDs. If they are already sharing your account, migrate their devices to separate accounts. To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos they wish to keep to ther camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. If they are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to them so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in their new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from thier device and won't effect your device), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7). Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create their new account and choose Merge to upload the data. Once everyone is on a separate account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each account separately and delete your data from their account.

Why is the CC desktop app not recognizing installs of applications?

CC app is installed but does not recognize any oc the instalations of adobe products ( full suite installed)
When running updates through the applications they are run through application manager not the CC Desktop app.

Full Creative cloud suite. Instaled from a file not from the CC desktop app.
There was still cs5.5 installed on the when CC was installed but thats now been uninstalled. I'm guessing adobe application manager should have gone with it but thats what opens when you run updates through photoshop etc. The Desktop app only shows lnks to download/try all the apps that are already installed.

Comp/ Desktop Manager not recognizing plugged device

I recently installed/ updated the BB Desktop Software and when I plug in my BB Curve 8520, my comp doesn't recognize the device.
Note 1: I've installed all updates on my computer AND the new OS on my phone already.
Note 2: My phone recognizes that it's plugged into the computer because begins to charge.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.

Desktop software not recognizing Outlook 2000 at all

I'm running Windows 2000 platform, and Outlook 2000 (SP3).
I have a BB Storm.
I've installed Desktop version 4.7. (Can't install a higher version on Windows 2000.)
Installation went fine. Software recognized the Storm. When I go to the Syncronization and click on the box in front of Calendar (or any of the choices), the only 3 choices I see are:
None
ASCII Impoter/Exporter
Yahoo
I've read every word of every manual, and can't find anything that will help me get Outlook onto that list. According to the Help section, Outlook is supported, yet it doesn't display.
Any suggestions on how to get Outlook onto the list?

The last version of DTM that supported Outlook 2000 was 4.2.2 -- so using 4.7 won't work...

Desktop Software not recognizing Playbook

When I plug in my Playbook to my computer, Desktop Manager appears, recognizes the Playbook but tries to initialize device access but doesn't. I check the Properties of the Desktop Manager, and it shows the Playbook, with Iv4 address, etc but doesn't show the Volume of the Playbook. When I attach another Playbook, it connects fine.
I've tried re-installing Desktop Software but nothing. Is there something I did to my Playbook that causes it not open in the Desktop. I take my Playbook to another computer and it connects fine too.
Pulling my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As one PB works and another does not, make sure the Storage and sharing setting is the same as on the good one, probably "Connect to Windows", and File Sharing "On"

Creative Cloud Desktop Manager not recognizing membership

All my CC apps are opening as trial versions and when I sign in after clicking "License this software" it still doesn't recognize my subscription and continues to ask for a serial number.

Looks like I had done all you advised except delete the Adobe Creative Cloud and Application Manager folders under Utilities. I did that and now CC installation is proceeding. Shuffle not recognized - won't start iTunes

Has anyone else seen this one?
My Shuffle will connect with my Mac, be recognized, and start iTunes ONLY when it is connected through one particular USB port off my powered hub, and then ONLY if most my other peripherals are disconnected. The only ones I can leave connected are the mouse, keyboard and speakers.
I'm using a D-Link 7-port, powered hub. No problems with any other peripheral on any port.
I've tried connecting the Shuffle to the two ports on the computer, and to every other port on the hub, with negative results.
I'm glad I found a way to make it work, but what a hassle!

I might have that beat. I was just going to reply to your message to say that I couldn't get my iPod recognized no matter what, after trying all the suggested methods over and over for several days, including trying to restore the iPod to its original factory settings (the last of the suggested methods) because that requires the iPod to be recognized, and I went on the update/restore software to see what 'restore' was called (I forgot), and my iPod was there. I know that was a long sentence, and hope it makes sense. Maybe my Pod will only be recognized when I in an Apple sponsored discussion group. Spooky, and a real hassle. Good luck with your problem.

DVD drive not recognized as a start up drive

I have a Pioneer DVR-106D I installed in my Mac. It works fine except for one problem. I wanted to start up from it to re-install a program that's been finicky (another post for another time) and found out that when I hold down the "C" key, the drive isn't recognized. I restarted and held down the "option" key to show the recognized drives and it wasn't on the list.
Any clues why I can't get my Mac to recognize the drive on startup? Is this a dip switch problem, SCSI drive assignment problem? I'm stumped.
Any help would be appreciated.

One of the things that helped me get my DVR-115 working reliably was to update the firmware. I can't remember what magic got me the updater and its rom image updater, but I'll look around to see if I can find it. I don't know if I'll be interupted, but I'll proceed anyway. It does require some work using the terminal application so I hope you have some command line experience here.
