Two web sites, one file folder

I have two similar but distinct web sites, hawkdesign.net and hawkexhibitdesign.com.  These are both hosted by the same ISP, and share the same login credentials.  I have long used hawkdesign.net, and am now trying to populate hawkexhibitdesign.com with the site files.  However, even though I have created hawkexhibitdesign.com as a new site in Dreamweaver, when I connect it loads the hawkdesign.net site files.  These sites share some file names, so I don't want to overwrite existing files.  Plus, all of the unnecessary hawkdesign.net files only create confusion when trying to manage hawkexhibitdesign.com.  Because Dreamweaver is a third party application, the ISP won't help with this.  Can you?

Where these sites are hosted remotely, is it safe to assume they are in different directories on the remote server?  It sounds as though this is a shared account with a secondary domain living inside the primary domain at the host. Thus the can use the same login.  If that is the case, in the Site Settings you can change the root directory to be that of the secondary domain when you have the secondary site defined in DW.  On your local computer these sites do not need to live inside one another, in fact, I would probably recommend that you separate them even if one lives inside the other on the remote server.
If that is not the case, we may need a little further explanation about your scenario.

  • Two web sites from one computer to .mac

I'm trying to publish two web sites on .mac. I have two accounts, so that's not a problem. The problem is trying to get the original files and copies of both web sites to another user on my iMac. I can't locate my files. I've gone to the users/library//application support/iweb, but my files aren't there at all? iWeb works just fine, I just can't locate them. If I find them how would I get them to another user, so that I can publish the second web site to .mac. I know I have to log into another account on the same machine. I get the grasp of it all, I just can't do it. Thanks anyone.

If you can launch a site in iWeb by opening the application, then you must have a domain file in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
Are you sure you are looking in the library in your Home Folder and not the System Library?
When you find the file you can copy it to the shared folder but make sure you give the other user read & write permission.
You don't need to have two .Mac accounts or a second user account to have multiple sites.
You can have each website on a separate domain file or use the freeware application iWebsites to manage them.

  • How do you add a web site to a folder in the iMac Bookmarks Bar?

Safari 6.0.5 does not have a "+" left of the URL. According to the Apple Safari video, that is how you add a web site to a folder in the Bookmarks bar.

Drag the website "icon" from the URL bar into the folder in the Bookmarks Bar.
When you start draging, a green + will appear.
    Best.

  • Editing  a Web site SWF file

Funky, allow me to try again. right words are difficult for
me come by but I try.
I have a Web site that uses a 260K Swf file for presentation.
My original designer is no longer available.
I am trying to make changes to update some of the info on the
site. I have been able to update jpeg images
in photo gallery which is an external xml file to and opened
by the swf file. additionally I have updated some of the
images within the "master" swf file using Eltima decompiler
    software.
I am now try to update some of the Static Text files within
    the "master" swf file.
I am using a MAC with the Eltima Decompiler and CS3 Flash.
This is my first attempt to update/edit
    Static text.
If you could quide me toward a correct course, I would
    appreciate it.
I open the "master" swf in eltima and extract only "text" I
am not doing anything with images, buttons etc.
I convert that ouput into Fla. A "master"_conv_fla file is
created along with a folder called text that has multiple
Static Text xx.swf file within. The fla file opens in adobe
but doesnt contain the file I want to update.
using Eltima I open the Static text 53.swf, perform an
extract and then convert that to a Static text 53_conv.fla file
    that opens in adobe.
Here I am lost. I have used trial and error to get a
response. I might mention that the original designer used Adobe 6.
With the Static text 53_conv.fla file open in adobe I seem to only
be able to make changes when I click on
Edit Symbols. I make changes and do a Save As so that Adobe 8
is used. I assume Adobe 9 might not allow my file to function.
After saving I Export the result back to my computers texts
file. That file then appears as Static text 3.swf.
    instead of Static text 53.swf
It has the results I want but I don't know how the make the
changes take in the Static text 53.swf file.
I am not even sure the steps I have taken above are even
correct. It was all I could do to get any result.
    Your guidance would be appreciated

I'm a relatively new convert to a Mac and I have to say that this is the first time I have been disappointed by my choice.
I have quite a few webs that I maintained with FrontPage and now I will have to drop them because I can't take the time to re-do each page within the sites just because I can't import the html coding into iWeb.
It would be nice if the authors could make iWeb a bit more friendly in that regard. Even if only the basic layout, text, images and/or image holders could be imported, that would help.

  • Multiple Web Site one IP

Is there a way with 1 IP address to host more then 1 web site in apache. IE you have your main server at main.server.com and then a test site at test.server.com? Each has there own root folder or web folder? Thanks

how does apache know which site to go to
It looks at the incoming request from the client. The request includes both the hostname (e.g. www.domain.com) and the pathname (e.g. /index.html) that the user is requesting.
Apache takes the hostname from the request and matches that to the hostname set in the VirtualHost, then serves the respective file based on that virtual host's settings.

  • How can I save a website as a favorite place under more than one file folder? I think I used to have this ability, now it'll only save it in one place.

What this does for me is allow me to find rarely accessed websites by looking under different kinds of categories of favorite places. If I'm restricted to only one location for the data it makes it harder to find.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give. It may still be possible to do this, and I just don't know how. In the past, if I created a new file folder and saved a webpage to the new folder, it would persist even after I saved it a 2nd time to a different folder. Now, if I save it to a 2nd folder, it will disappear from the 1st folder.

You can do a Copy & Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Shift+Ctrl+B) to create a copy of a bookmark.<br />
You can also drag the website's favicon on the left end of the location bar to a folder into the Bookmarks menu drop down list or to a folder in the Bookmarks side bar (Ctrl+B) or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar.<br />
In the side bar you need to click to the left of the icon to prevent Firefox from opening the bookmark.

  • Incorrect PDF scaling for web site jpeg files

So, I'm not sure if anyone else find this frustrating. When working on a new web design either in Illustrator or Photoshop, etc. and then exporting those to a jpg file, then taking those and combining them into a PDF file using acrobat, I'm seeing the PDF files being about 25% larger than their actual 72dpi web-standard size. So when I pass along the PDF to clients for review, I always have to add a disclaimer that they should set their PDF reader to about 75% to see the actual size of the web site files. 100% is far too big. Any idea why the correctly-sized image files, when imported into Acrobat are increased in size?
I've tried saving them as smaller files... I've tried the cropping feature... none of this seems to solve the problem. It's quite frustrating.

    Russel

    Hi,
In Muse, there is no button/widget which allows to upload contents to your site. I would suggest to use third party web form builder, like Jotform, Upload Field Allowed File Types and Embed the form code in Muse and that should work.

  • Sync two computers with one documents folder?

This is a question re: a imac and a powerbook.
I am looking for a product that can update the most recently edited files in my documents folder on both computers automatically...
Often, I use the laptop remotely and need updates to the desk top and vise versa so that the folder being duplicated is a mirror on each machine...
Is this a possibility with some product currently on the market, two computers one set of folders?
Optimally I would like it to happen automaticall but a wired version would be OK too...
When machines are tethered the more recent folders update on either machine.

    Hi Elin,
Here's a Dropbox tutorial which keeps two Macs synced: http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/09/21/how-to-use-dropbox-to-sync-your-documents- folder-between-macs-for-free/
What's not clear is if it will allow you to disconnect the two Macs and then sync after reconnecting them.
iCloud is something else to consider.

  • Preview -- two windows for one file?

    Hi,
I'm stumped by an amazingly simple problem: I want to have two or three Preview.app windows open (at different positions of) the same .pdf file, but I can't find any possibility short of duplicating the file, once for every window!
Where's the magic button I've missed so far?
    Thanks, Colin

    Hi, Cohi.
Adobe Acrobat (not the free Adobe Reader) has a function (WIndow > Split) that enables you to have two independent views of the same document.
Unfortunately, preview does not support this with PDFs. AFAIK, your workaround is one answer with Preview. Your only other option is to make copies of the Preview app (e.g. Preview 1, Preview 2) and open the same document in these different copies of Preview.
While Preview has evolved with each release, if one works heavily with PDFs, then one should buy Acrobat.
If you think Apple should add a Spilt view function in some future version of Preview, I suggest you submit a Mac OS X Feedback.
    Good luck!

  • Opening and saving from web site pdf file

I found a site where you can download many pdf file. In order to automatize the process i would create a vi using activex.
i generate some url  like this "http://remotesite/folder/file1.pdf" and i want the vi open the site, download the page an save the file1.pdf in a desired folder. In this forum there are many examples that solve only  half of my problem, in fact they load in a browser the pdf file opening Acrobat reader but i do not know how to save the file.
    Thank you
    lelluzo

Why do you want to do this with ActiveX?
    Try the WinInet: http://www.mooregoodideas.com/goodLabViewStuff.htm
Simply use WinInet Easy Get Url, with a path to the file, and store the data as binary file. I used this a lot for the axact thing to are trying to do. Put the VI in a for loop, and try to automatically build a string that forms the paths to the files. Sometimes, I get the source HTML from a download page, and edit the HTML so I get a multiline string. This forms the input for the loop, and there you go. All your files nicelly on disk. Note that some of these sites will block after a few downloads, to prevent this sort of things.

    Wiebe.

  • Can I combine two files to be two sheets in one file?

well can I?  And if so, how?  Not sure how to explain in more detail, but I can try if need be.  Help me?!

    Hi SharpieJeff,
SG, who offered a simple script on another of your topics is one of the scripting wizards on the Numbers forum. I am beginning to find my way within a Numbers file but reading a bunch of files into 1 is something I haven't attempted yet. Numbers 3 is very script savvy so it can be a very useful tool. A script I am using with some frequency updates certain popups on several sheets in a file.
    One helpful website is http://macosxautomation.com/applescript/firsttutorial/index.html
You need to know that each Numbers file or document can contain many sheets. Each of those sheets can contain many tables. You might also hear a file refered to as a spreadsheet. The distinctions will be important if you being to script.

  • Two webs on one.....

    Hi,
How do I do the following:
I want www.lalapalooza.co.uk with Contact & About pages showing in the button bar (loaded)
and www.lalapalooza.co.uk/cats with Gallery, About Us, OurCats buttons showing within those pages.
Can anyone help? I found the inspector within Views but haven't been able to figure it out as yet!
Off today and would love to get this sorted if anyone can advice.... thanks for looking Debs

You use URL forwarding so it won't work.
This is your first Site :
    http://web.me.com/lalapalooza/Lalaplooza/Index.html
If you want cats, create another Site. The url will be this.
    http://web.me.com/lalapalooza/Cats/
It's rather remarkable for someone who is in :
    +*IT Training & Business Support Service*+
    and cannot figure this out.
