Two workbooks in one

Experts, I have a query which gets a replacement path variable populated by another 'parent' query output.
Users need a single workbook with two tabs, first ' parent' query output, second the output from the replacement path query.
Now they need that with a single refresh, both the tabs bring in the current resultsfor both the queries.
I read some more on this and made the property changes in the interaction tab.
What happens is, selection screens for both queries are run one after another.
Since the selection screen for bothe queries is the same,
Is there a way that with one pop up of the selection screen, both queries be refreshed and not have to deal with two pop ups?

Hi Gilo,
You can't mix the workbooks since they are created seperately and having different workbook IDs,but you can mix the worksheets.
If your requirement is showing the same query in different pages,then you can create a single workbook and have multiple worksheets.Each worksheet will have a same query in different formats.
You can make a copy of the worksheet without losing BW Connection and options.
To perform this,you can go to Tools->Copy Sheet of Analysis Toolbox.This will create an exact copy of worksheet to new sheet,so that you will have same query in different worksheets.I mean Sheet1 and Sheet2 will have same query.

Merge (or Consolidate) two workbooks into one

I have a workbook1 which has query 1, 2, 3 in it. There is lots of vbcode and other stuff which I donu2019t want to change. Now I want to add query 4, 5, 6 in to the same workbook1 i.e. by creating few more tabs or worksheets inside it along with Query1, 2, 3. So that I still want the same workbook with all the format, coding, links etc. for another 3 queries and save this workbook as workbook2. In short want to get the replica of earlier workbook with several more queries embedded. How to do that? Pls advice.

First open BEx Analyzer -
> open your main workbook -
> save this workbook as new name->go to insert menu insert new worksheet-> then row and column on new worksheet for 4th query report -
> then select BEx Analyzer from menu---> then select design toolbar-> select design mode-> insert analysis grid -
> click on new inserted grid ->In general tab select create data provider->there u assign new query name---->In a same way u insert workbook & new analysis grid for 5rd and 6th report -
> and new create data provider for 5rd and 6th report -> select exit design mode> here u will get 6 report on one workbook.

Can I move workbooks from one database to another in discoverer 4?

We have discoverer desktop/administration 4.1
We have two databases. One for real time, and one that is a copy of that for use by the business that gets cloned in the morning. This copy database is where users are able to create there own reports. Everyday, backup is taken of this copy database and then the database is cloned from the real time database in the morning. Then a job is run to put back the priviledges of users to create their reports and also to copy back the workbooks they have created. We are now getting rid of this extra copy database. Is there a way to copy all the user created workbooks which is in the thousands. Also is there a way to copy folders that are only missing from the target database?

Hello
Trying to merge EUL folders can be time consuming and you are not guaranteed to get the same identifiers in both areas. It doesn't sound like you currently use the EUL in the Target database so I would either replace it with what is in the Copy or add a new EUL and import everything from the Copy.
If everything you need is in the Copy and you go down the new EUL route then here is what I would do:
1. Export entire EUL from Copy - this will copy all folders and workbooks
2. Create a brand new empty EUL in the target database
3. Import the EUL into the new empty EUL
4. Ask users to work in this new EUL
5. When satisfied all is well, drop the original EUL

Hi Krishma,
You can save this workbook to your PC and email it to your user. They need to open the workbook (with Bex running in Excel). When they click the refresh button they system will prompt them to log on (if they are already not logged in) and then the queries will be executed.

Actually, everyone missed one point, when a device is priced, the cost of icloud storage space for that device is also included in it that is why they are able to give you 5gb each for each user ID, in nutshell there is nothing free coming with apple device purchase, it is paid for. What they are trying by giving only 5gb per user ID irrespective of the number of devices used is pure broadlight looting, they take money from you when you buy each device and give you nothing, This is a case of goods and services bought but not fully deliverd ie apple can be suied for discreminatory treatment towards it's users. I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.

I have heard horror stories about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma. I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop. Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file. For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

Jim,
Before starting the database A, did you set ORACLE_SID=A from command line? You can run as many instances you want from single server provided you enough memory, processing power. Also try starting your instances usign window services and check and post some lines from alert.log for database A.

About combing two array into one

However, I enouther another problem while dealing with an array of U16 type. I would like to extract the high and low byte from numbers (U16) stored in array. I extract the high and low byte for each U16 number and convert them as char, concatenate them to a string. Repeat this process for each element in the array so to get a big string with each element is a char for high and low byte. My code is enclosed as follows
It works fine but I am concerning the speed. Is that any other way to do it fast and don't use loop (in real case, I will deal with pretty big array many times, efficiency is a problem). Note that the high and low bytes array extracted from the original array with the module Split number.vi, but how can I combine these two array in one code with data arranged as high-low-high-low ... ? You need to be more clear.
Looking at the code, you are dealing with I16, not U16. Also your index array primitives could be replaced by autoindexing. Your use of the feedback node only makes sense if you want to append strings forever with stale data, thus growing data structures without limits. If you only want to convert the current data, remove the feedback mode and use a "concatenate strings" with a single input. A for loop is one of the most efficient data structures and using it is not a problem. One way or another the code needs top oerate on all data.
All that said, I agree with Tim that most likely all you need to do is insert a typecast after the "to I16" and eliminate all other code.

Hi. I am having an issue with music on my IPod. It would probably be easier to explain my specific issue: I have songs by Band of Horses from Cease to Begin. When viewing my albums through cover flow, it shows Cease To Begin as two separate albums, one with only Islands on the Coast, and the other having Islands on the Coast with 3 other songs. If I delete the album with only one song from my IPod, it deletes the song from the other "album" as well. If I go to "All Songs" by Band of Horses, it only shows one Islands on the Coast, so it is not a duplicate issue. Also, in Itunes, it only shows one album. I just recently updated to iOS5 on my 4th Gen IPod Touch, if that helps.

WinXP with two users - can we have two separate iTunes, one for each user?

Question: On my Dell WinXPPro SP3 desktop with two users (myself and my wife), can each user have a separate iTunes - so what each of us does with iTunes has no effect on the other?
Details: Yesterday, June 29 2012, I bought a new iPad 3 with WiFi only, my first Apple product. My #1 motive for buying it is to copy movie files (avi, m4v, mp4, etc.) from my WinXP setup (PC plus hard drive) to my new iPad to watch the movies in bed on the new iPad. I understand that I shall need to install iTunes on both the iPad and the PC in order to move or copy the existing movies from the PC side to the iPad. (I also understand that I won't be able to use iCloud because iCloud will not run on WinXP, only Vista and Win7.) [By the way, if iTunes will NOT help me do what I want to do, please let me know. But that is not my question.]
I am only one of two users on the PC. My wife is the second user on the PC. She already installed iTunes on the PC for her own use. She is an avid iTunes user. Most of the time, she does not use this PC. She has her own WinXPPro SP3 Dell laptop, which is what she uses 99% of the time. She has also had an iPod for some time, hence her use of iTunes. And now, for the last two weeks, she also has a new iPhone 4S and her own iPad. So her use of iTunes will grow. The important point is the following - whatever I do on my side, I do not want to interfere with or disrupt her use of iTunes. Not even for a second.
So, can I install or re-install or somehow set up iTunes on MY user on the PC so that it does not in any way use or affect her iTunes? If the answer is "yes", please give me a step-by-step and list all details. Is there a YouTube that shows this specifically?
More details: Right now, in C:\Program Files, before I have tried to install anything myself, there are already folders for Apple Software Update, iPod and iTunes, which derive from my wife's installations of these Apple programs some time ago. I have just now run the Apple Software Updater, which first updated itself on this PC to version 2.1.3.127 and then updated her iTunes on this PC to version 10.6.3.25. (As a result, the following processes/services are now running, which normally don't run when I am the user:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
Also, the following processes will launch the next time I reboot this PC (which normally don't launch when I am the user):
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe )
My wife says her iTunes is NOT set for Family Share. (That sounds correct to me, for now and forever.)
Summary: So, how do I install iTunes for myself (for the first time) for my user on this PC so it does not - even for a second - interfere or affect my wife's use of her iTunes on all of her devices?

When I said I had not "installed" iTunes on my iPad, I suppose I meant I have not yet signed in to iTunes, ever. I suppose when I sign in to iTunes the first time on my new iPad, I will be required to create a new iTunes account? Then refer to such new iTunes account when I launch iTunes for the first time on my PC as myself? Or will I still need to use Method Three in your link?
The crucial thing is this - when I turn on iTunes on the PC for the first time with me as User, I do NOT want it to connect to my wife's iTunes account. On my PC, I would want iTunes to ask me who I am, so I can then sign in with my new iTunes account that I had just created on my iPad. How can I be sure to accomplish this goal?
In my PC, if I look at Documents and Settings and compare the two folders for we two different users, one for me and one for my wife, I can see that my wife's has Application Data and Local Settings for her various Apple programs. However, so do I in my User even though I have not yet installed any Apple programs on my side. I am concerned that when I finall launch iTunes when I am user, it will open up in my wife's iTunes account, which I truly want to avoid.

How to print two sides with one page?

I have a PDF that is one page long and I'd like to print the same thing twice (front and back) on one page. Can I do that?

Well sure; Go back to the authoring application that created the documents and do a 2-UP page. Make the existingg page large enough to accomodate the extra content. Is that what you're asking or do you really mean print to a printer with a back up ? In that case just flip the page over and print page 2 on the other side.
Or are we missing something ?

That would be a good use of the PDF Services available in OS X. You can use PDF Services with AppleScript or an Automator workflow.
