Tx2 laptop touchpad has stopped working

Recently the synaptics touchpad on my tx2 1020ea laptop has spontaneously stopped working. I haven't changed anything before this issue popped up. I installed the latest touchpad drivers, and the touchpad started working again. However, after a shutdown it's back to not working again.
There appears to be two different states of non-workingness going on:
1) touchpad is non-responsive but the button to turn the touchpad on or off is still working (going from white to orange), the touchpad shows up correctly in device manager etc. but touchpad doesn't work.
2) where I am now, touchpad still isn't working but  the on/off button isn't working either. To make matters stranger in control panel>mouse under the synaptics tab, nothing shows up, everything is greyed out. The Hardware tab in mouse settings shows:
HID-compliant mouse
Manufacturer: micorsoft
Location: on  Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver (I know this ain't right)
Status: this device is working properly
I'm going to uninstall/re-install the synaptics drivers again, but I'm guessing the same thing will occur, touchpad working till i reboot the computer.
Any thoughts?

So I've been waiting for a reply that hasn't come but today something new and equally bewildering has happened, I restarted my laptop as my touchscreen had stopped working, as it frequently does. After the restart the touchscreen is working again, but for the first time in 2 weeks the synatpics ps/2 touchpad has appeared back in the device manager.
Synaptics PS/2 port touchpad
Manufacturer: Synaptics
Located on: Plugged into PS/2 mouseport
Status: This device is working properly
The synaptics icon also show in my taskbar, the synaptics tab on mouse settings is longer greyed out. It looks like its back to working as it should.
But it isn't, the on/off button has started working again, but the touchpad itself still does not register anything, it's still deader than Elvis, anyone have any ideas what's wrong. Of course this problem would only rear its head 4 weeks after my warranty expired, go figure.

    Any idea?
How can I check whether the tp-driver is installed properly?
    Thanks in advance.

    > How can I check whether the tp-driver is installed properly?
Go to control panel -> mouse -> last tab (Advanced or Pointing device) -> Advanced button
There you should see all touchpad settings.

I have plugged in a USB mouse, but i did not select the option to disable the touchpad while the mouse is plugged in. • My macbook mouse/touchpad has stopped working. After 5 minutes ,the mouse won't click and I have to shut down. What's wrong?

I have a white macbook, about 4 years old. Every time I use it, after five minutes, the mouse and touchpad stop working. You can still hear the click but it doesn't actually click anything on the screen, effectively freezing the computer. I have to just shut it down. What can i do about this?!? Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • My Touchpad Has Stopped Working, Please Help

My touchpad has locked itself. I can't click even with the buttons that are below the touchpad, it doesn't scroll or move, it won't do anything whatsoever. It has done this before, but usually it just works itself out on its own after a few minutes of leaving it alone. But not this time, this time it's been like this for a few days already. I tried to do the F2/F9/F10 solution that was talked about in one of the topics I read, but...pressing F2 doesn't do anything on the splash screen for me, let alone be able to do the other stuff that was mentioned. System Restore also hasn't done anything. I have a wireless mouse for the time being, but I'd rather have my touchpad back if possible because...being a wireless mouse...it basically eats batteries like they're candy...so to speak. >.> So, here's my model's info, I hope you guys can help me with it. Toshiba Satellite C55-A5354Part NO. PSCF6U-04T00CWindows 8.1 64-Bit If more info is needed, let me know and I'll try to find it.

I have turned off auto update, I'm not sure where to go to uninstall an update though, I can turn it off but not uninstall, lol. But the last update was a couple of weeks ago and my mouse has been fine up until like three days ago, so I don't think an update caused it. I uninstalled the driver and let it automatically reinstall twice now, but nothing. Just in case it's helpful, here's the driver info too. Driver Name: Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPadVersion: 17.0.10.51

  • Compaq Laptop CQ58 has stopped working!!

    Hi all,
My problem is a simple one, the laptop was working fine one minute and the following morning it was dead! The laptop will not come on and the charger seems to have no impact whatsoever.
I've tried all the usual stuff to get it working, and even replaced the charger just incase it was that, but no, its still dead!
All i want is a phone number to the right Customer Service team so i can get this laptop picked up and fixed. My warranty is still valid because I've checked this on their handy warranty checker...found that very easy to work.
Can anyone help me or guide me in the right direction?
Cheers all, have a great new year
    Andy

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • I can't open Itunes on my laptop. "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causes the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" is the message. what is the problem here?

I can't open my Itunes program in my laptop computer with windows 8. the message is "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causess the program to stop working properly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I reboot  the machine, Uninstall and re install the  Itune program, stilll the same message pops up.

The first thing to try is System Restore to take you back to a point in time when it did work. If that is not successful, create a new user on the computer. log in with that and see if ID will start. This will tell us if the problem is in the system/program or the user account.
If it works in a new user account, see Replace Your Preferences and in addition to replacing the prefs, empty the InDesign Recovery folder that will be in the same location and the InDesign SavedData file.

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.

Try restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If your iPod is with in the one-year warrranty, not abused and defective Apple will replace it.
