can i make custom txt message alerts or am i stuck with what comes with the phone.

For now you are stuck with what comes with the iPhone. We don't know if version 3.0 will bring a change in this. Stay tuned.

After my phone finished updating, i lost the new ringtones and txt/alert tones i had bought. I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Missing TXT Alerts in 7.1.1

I upgraded my iPhone 4 from iOS 5.0.x to 7.1.1 on the weekend and now I no longer get the Alerts, sound/vibration or the red circle notification on the Messages App.... HELP!! I have tried all of the settinsg that I can - turned them on/off even reinstalled 7.1.1 and still no love.
Also the flashlight only works the first time I used it and then won't come on again unless I restart the phone.

Sounds like you have "allow moves" turned on, and have not flagged the properties of the new members as shared.
It's a relatively easy fix, but requires you to understand the relationship between the "remove unspecified" setting and issues with shared members getting moved. Essentially, you cannot remove a shared member without going through a little extra effort, so keeping the base members intact is easy -- but making changes to shared structures is not.
That might be a bit confusing -- let me give an example: Member "Shared1" under "Parent1" is referenced in the new file as belonging to "Parent2", if the attribute is shared, it will not cause the base member to move, but it ALSO won't cause the shared member under "Parent1" to be removed, either. You end up with a "Shared1" under both "Parent1" and "Parent2". The fix requires that you turn on the "Remove Unspecified" option, and now you must list all members -- so you get back to the need to specify the base members as WELL as the shared members in the current load. It's not quite a catch-22, but pretty close.
Summary: Give the child member (assuming parent/child reference) an "Property" column that contains an "S" in it; turn "Allow Moves" off, and "Remove Unspecified" on. Now be sure to include the full dimension in your build.
There may be an alternative, but you usually end up with cleaning up the duplicated shared or some other side effect.

I Have a ringtone that I have picked and it shows that it's the one that should be used. Instead it chimes at me instead of ringtone that I have picked for my txt alerts it's an iPhone 5. I never had any problems until after 8.01 update

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

Adobe Flash Query and distinction Please...

Ok, so my local newspaper and news/weather station in Tampa (TBO.com) has been providing me some nice weather alerts with maps to my new 3G (previously, just txt alerts to my old LG). They have been working on a new release, which when I was notified that I would have to download a new release, I was taken to a page that requested I had to select my OS since I was detected being on a Mac OS... in doing so, I was given the options of: Intel Based Mac (As is my MacBook Pro) or a Power Mac? I tried both... and informed my OS was not capable of the download...
So I know you are anxious to remind me that the iPhone (1G or 3G) was not able to download Adobe Flash"... and I acknowledge knowing that... but when the Adobe site asked me to select which Mac OS I was running, I became encouraged that possible the 3G iPhone may be the exception since the Sept. '07 MacBook magazine indicated a yr ago that Safari wasn't supported. So not being a tenured Mac user and flipping back and forth from my WIN business Laptop frequently I admit not being as SAFARI savvi as I should be...so my question is, doesn't my MacBook Pro run on SAFARI as does the Power Mac? So what's the difference in SAFARI between the others and our 3g iPhone?? Not as if I am running the intel side of my MCPro... are there "hooks" on the MBPro enabling me to access this new Weather map, that didn't require my downloading Adobe Flash to it? Is this a hardware fix for APPLE or a simple s/w release down the road? Thanks

Any way to Upload a File Automatically without user interaction in BSP.
Problem is;
We have an terminal pc connected to an Production Machine and has a PLC for reading Machine Actual Datas. This terminal has Windows CE.NET OS. There is one program which Appending PLC Data to Text file (STORAGE CARD\PLC\SAMPLE.TXT).
Users can access to WAS system in this Terminal (Has network).
I have to access to SAMPLE.TXT file using BSP when user antered a page in WAS.
Have you got any solution. I have tried so much methods to do this. But i have not found any solution.

Yes SAMPLE.txt stored in "STORAGE CARD\PLC" folder in terminal.
But i am trying in my computer to test with "C:

"Incoming" Message tone wanted

Does anyone have a message alert which is a speeded up voice (like a Chipmunk) saying "Incoming!" closely followed by a missile / fastjet sound effect whooshing past?
If you do I will be eternally grateful if you can leave a reply and I will tell you my email.

Ending (not just closing) applications

Before the update, I would press and hold the Home button to be sure an app was closed and not running in the background and draining my battery, but since the update, that isn't working anymore. For example, to shut off my iPod, I can only pause it, not completely shut it off.

Folks, this is a non issue due to the simple fact that the iPhone OS DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICATIONS TO RUN IN THE BACKGROUND! - it never did! Background processes are limited to a very few NATIVE Apple functions - iPod playback is one. When you stop a song from playing and then hit your home button, the iPod application is NOT still "running" in the background. The iPod application simply stores your last song/movie/whatever and the location within the clip to allow you to resume playback.
Once you hit the home button to exit an application, that app is completely closed and no longer taking a toll on your processor or battery. This is the reason why Apple implemented push notifications in 3.0 - so applications can still alert you of activity (i.e. an incoming im or a news alert) without the app running in the background. Instead, the monitoring takes place in the "cloud" (remote servers) that sends a message to an Apple server which in turn pushes a txt alert to your device. No process or backgroun apps are actually ever running on the iPhone, even for these new notifications!

Personalized txt message alerts based on who is sending it?

Is there anyway on the Iphone to set different text message alerts based on who is sending the text? I am a sysadmin and currently I have our servers sending txt message alerts to my corp phone. I'd like set it to send to my iphone with the caveat of giving a different alert sound then other text messages sent by other people.
I just got my iphone yesterday, so please forgive me if there is an easy solution.

In short, no. You can change ring tones for various people however; no individual group alerts.

TXT MSG Alert ringtone too low....Pls Help

I recieved HTC trophy today and all my excitement was vanished when I found that the Alerts available on phone for text messages & Emails are too low.
I manage a Data Center and our Monitoring servers in Data center sends txt messages when anything goes wrong in Data Center.
With HTC trophy the alert ring tones are merely chimes and can hardly wake me up if any APP/Server goes down in DataCenter.
Is there any option available on Trophy to add ringtones for Alerts or use other ringtones already on the phone as TXT message alert?
This issue is a deal breaker for me. and any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

It sounds like text messaging is an important feature to you, and you need it to be loud. If the native tones don't seem to work for you, you can download a ringtone management program from the Marketplace. There are several free ones to choose from. Once you get a better alert downloaded, just change the sound setting to ring with that new tone.

It appears that I have provided incorrect information. The assumption that you can do this on Windows Mobile phones was incorrect. I had one in-hand and assumed that alerts could be downloaded like ringtones, but according to bc3tech , it's not possible. This is not customizable like on all other operating systems. If this is a deal breaker for you, perhaps another device would suit you best.

Your only chance is setting it up as new device without using the latest backup afterwards, which you already did.

At night, I want to be able to hear if I get a call, but I do not want to hear if I get a txt mssg. I went into setting/txt/sounds and turned it off, and had a ring tone selected for calls, but when I get calls I do not hear the ring tone.

To do this you will need to go to Settings>Notifications>Do Not Disturb and from there sellect "Allow Calls From" to everyone. This will mean that if you schedule Do Not Disturb at Night time, only Calls will make alerts and ring whereas other notifications will be silenced.

How can I turn off an alert for each txt when message app is open?

I think this is a simple problem but I can't find a solution! I want to receive an alert (either vibration or sound, depending on the position of the silence switch) when I get a new txt. This is how I am set up now. However, once I open the messages app and am engaged in a discussion, I no longer want to receive an alert for each message. So basically: If message app is open, no alert... otherwise, alert! Is this possible?

Latest update on 'Network Lost' Message. I have tried all the suggestions, ie, Setting my carrier to Automatic and resetting my Network settings but nothing works. I had a long conversation with someone at Apple this morning and he said there was no way to stop this from happening. Gutted! My husband and I went through the settings on both our iPhones earlier and discovered that he has a different software version to mine, He hasn't updated his and he never gets the message. Now I am wondering if it's possible to go back to an earlier version and if so how? Can anyone tell me please?
