  • Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open and close WinDVD or Winfast

Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open these programs, and when they're closed the main volume resets to where it was before the program was opened.
Surely I'm not the only one who has had this problem before.. I've had the problem with both Creative soundcards I've owned, before and after different drivers installations.
It can be very irritating and can potentially lead to damaged speakers if I'm not paying close attention to what my various volume knobs are set at before and after I open these programs.
I appreciate any and all input, thankyou.

I had to edit to reflect its Mavericks 10.9

Thank you. I called my carrier and told them that the i704 os made my phone unusable and that the support in the forums is populated by children like yourself who make nasty comments and provide no support, I was released from my contract. Free at last from rotten Apple and shmucks like you.

  • Ios 7.4  nightmares. When idle and charging my screens move on their own, types jibberish on its own and sends the jibberish as a text message to random callers, changes sounds on its own.  And that's not all!!!

The ios7.04 download for my iphone 4s has tuned the phone into a nightmare. Battery charging time is 3x what it used to be, battery drains after 4 hours whether I talking or phone is idle. I can no longer hear the phone when it rings. Here is the dealbreaker:When idle, untouched and charging the screens move on their own, type jibberish on their own and send the jibberish via text to a random selection of my contacts. The phone is charging now and I am watching the screen move to the alarm stopwatch screen. It  From there is has moved to the Sounds screen and has changed my ring tone twice. (It plays the tones as well.). My hands are not on the phone at the time and the homescreen is visible when charging begins. I have turned off so many components of the phone that there is simply no longer any reason to walk around with what has become a functionless burden. The most obvious solution is to say goodbye to Apple and go back to the brand I was using before. Thought I's give this forum one last shot. For the life of me I can not understand why so many of us have so many complaints about our devices yet no one takes the path of least resistance...which is to simply switch to a brand that is reliable. I never had any problems with a cell phone until I switched to Apple.

  • Sound input changes on its own

    Hello,
I'm having some trouble with my sound input in the system settings. I want to use my internal microphone to record into QuickTime, but it occasionally changes itself back to the Line In on its own.
I have other applications open while doing this, including iTunes. I'm using QuickTime to quickly record my music practice while using iTunes to play an accompaniment. I don't know whether or not that has any bearing on why this might be happening.
    Thanks for your attention!
    Dave

Hey guys, this is really annoying!! Could anybody please help us here... Appreciate your time a lot.

  • Screen brightness changes on its own

My laptop screen brightened all of a sudden on its own, 1/3 - 1/2 EV. I was editing a photo in PSCS3 when this occurred, the photo was from Lightroom. The brightness change effected everything, not just PS. For the past several days I've been editing photos in LR & thought I had the tone adjusted pretty good on all the photos. Today when I looked at the photos again, I felt like I needed to brighten then up some. After making exposure/brightness/tonecurve adj. to the photos today, I needed to do editing in PS, and as I was editing, the screen made a brightness change. I recalibrated the monitor & the brightness stayed the same. How could the previous monitor profile be turned off & all of a sudden turn itself back on. Windows Vista on Sony Vaio laptop (yeah I know I need something besides a laptop screen to edit photos). This probably has nothing to do with PS but I thought I would try on this forum as it's usually very helpful. Perhaps you can suggest another forum that might help. Thanks!

Sometimes a power management scheme will kick in on a laptop and change the monitor brightness. When editing you should always work with external power connected and all settings set at Never for that state.
And, if you're serious, get a good monitor!

  • Desktop changes on its own?

I am having an odd problem with my desktop changing images on its own. I go into System Preferences and select an image from iPhoto and the desktop changes to that for a bit and then the next thing I look again, it has changed back to the nebulla/cosmos shot. I change it to some other factory setting image like a nature shot or leaves from the plant folder and after a few minutes, I have the nebulla back again.
Either my machine is telling me it secretly has a desire for me to send it to the moon, or I have a ghost in my machine.
    Please, any ideas?

I'm not sure by what you mean by AD.
that means you are not bound to one so don't worry about that. I just wanted to make sure that your computer is not centrally managed in some way. right now I don't know what could be doing this. try clearing all caches with YASU

  • Time Changed on its own.

The time is set to 'set automatically' on my phone and tonight I noticed it was an hour fast. I turned set automatically off set the time and turned it back on and now its fine? Anyone else is this a common problem?

It's curious. It's happened to me several times now. Just like the OP (who is only a few miles along the coast from me) if I turn Auto Set off then back on it corrects itself but then later randomly jumps forward exactly one hour.
"Exactly one hour" does not sound particularly random. Are you sure you don't have it set to GMT vs. BST or some odd thing like that?
Someone mentioned earlier that if you set it quite far off, say 6h 35m, while in manual and then switch it to automatic, it fixed the problem. Have you tried that?
    Phil
I didn't explain that well. It does jump exactly an hour forward, but there seems to be no pattern as to when it changes. I can correct it then it might stay OK for an hour, day or whatever before it jumps again. Intermittant issues are so hard to trouble shoot

  • Email address name changed on its own???

I noticed today when I went to compose an email that my email name is not what it supposed to be.  It is now a scrambled up mix of letters and numbers in front of the @verizon.net.  I didn't change this.  I still receive emails with my original email address though.
I do not understand how this got changed and am worried that when I send emails people will not look at them because of the goofy email address.
    Any help???

verizon provides you with 2 different types of identification online. the vze... is the verizon id associated to the username you created when you created your verizon account. as to why it's now showing the [email protected] is a mystery to me

  • MacMail smtp setting changes on its own, goes "(Offline)". Why?

    Hello All,
My wife's MacBookPro running Lion has a problem that shows up (as far as I can tell) randowmly but often: outgoing mail stops working and the smpt server setting is found to say "smtp-server.xxxxx.(offline)" This has been happening both here at home (Hawaii) and on the mainland, where she is now traveling and in adult child's apartment. This mainland aprtment is served by Comcast, home is served by Time Warner, but the problem (smtp changed to "Offline") acts the same in both places. Yes, we carefully set the new smtp server name string for the Comcast mail server.
I read pages of search results on this discussion and found just one thread with this issue. No resolution there. My wife gets incoming POP mail just fine.
As far as I can tell, my wife is not having the problem from use of iCloud. In fact, her MacBookPro is not set to use that mail, I think. (Windows guy here.) As far as I know this is the up-to-date Lion and MacMail.  Time Warner told me they get calls for this "Offline" issue all the tie and just direct people to delete that now-defunct outgoing connection and retype the correct smtp name through the use of the "Add" button. So that works temporarily.
Ports and authentication settings have been checked. All good.
    Why is this happening?
Is there a better e-mail client from a third party? If Outlook on Windows was this squirrely we'd have all bailed to some other solution by now, but this may be a result of some other factor. I am open to suggestion.
    Thanks, in advance, for suggestions.

Time Warner told me they get calls for this "Offline" issue all the tie and just direct people to delete that now-defunct outgoing connection and retype the correct smtp name through the use of the "Add" button. So that works temporarily.
This implies that Time Warner has a general issue with their mail server set-up; that they have a mail server or DNS-level issue within whatever servers and configuration they're using to host email.  Google or Bing search for other folks, or check Time Warner support forums for other discussions.  Also ask the support folks directly around what platforms they're encountering these offline issues with.
And though the Time Warner support folks have probably already suggested this, check that the ISP-recommended settings for mail are in place.  In particular, confirm the TCP port are you using for SMTP mail.  It's common to have TCP port 25 blocked outbound (either by an ISP or corporate firewall, or by mail server policies), which means that mail server submissions are via (usually) configured to require TCP 587, with credentials specified.  Connecting on TCP 25 can lead to various weirdnesses; that's best left for communications among mail servers.
Apple Mail.app certainly does have a few idiosyncracies, but this isn't one I've encountered.  (One that does appear from time to time is a password dialog on certain sorts of network "disconnectivity" errors.)
If you're going to assume that the client operating system or tools are at fault (which is a perfectly reasonable starting point for troubleshooting), then get yourself some proof of whether or not that's actually the case; that your theory is correct.  Get yourself a free or a commercially-hosted account (and commercial hosting for your own email domain is cheap, these days) and see if that connection stays solid, and whether or not Time Warner server(s) remain reachable.
A free mail client such as Thunderbird can also potentially point to whether the problem is with Mail.app or with another component within the configuration, or with the mail server or network connection.
My guess is that (barring network outages), the "new" mail server connection will not require resetting the account settings; that the problem is specific to the Time Warner configuration or settings, or with the Time Warner mail servers.  If this "new" connection holds, then the suspicion would fall toward the Time Warner mail servers, or the network connection into those mail servers.
And FWIW, for receiving mail, IMAP has various advantages over POP.

  • Router password changed on its own

some days back, my internet router dropped most of my devices from the links router and when i enter my password now it says it is incorrect.  I have password written down from when i created it.  I have only had this router a couple of months.  how could this have happened?  now i have several devices in my home that can not access wifi.
has anyone else had this happen? how did you fix it?
    thanks
    Solved!

@tilogarcia Hi! It's possible that someone changed the wireless password of your router. What's the model number of your router? You can try resetting the router and reconfigure it again. To reset the router, just press and hold the reset button for 20 seconds. Make sure to update the firmware of the router to its latest version.

  • Yahoo displays in line form other than the standard Yahoo screen, How do I change this and why does it keep changing on its own?

I have Yahoo as my default search engine. When I enter through FireFox the display comes up as a line display instead of the standard Yahoo Screan with photos etc. I need to know what is causing this to happen and how to change it back? when Yahoo is accessed through other browsers this is not a problem. Any suggestions?

  • Screen Resolution Changes on its Own

Can someone explain to me, why when I turned on my computer earlier today, the resolution was changed? I was using my MacBook just one hour ago, when everything appeared fine. I did not adjust Systems Preferences, but nevertheless, upon re-booting, it "decided" to change the appearance of the screen. I have since readjusted things, but am curious how this took place, and if it means anything ominous.
    Thank you,
    John

  • Resolution changing on its own

    Hello,
I have a 2003 20" Cinema clear acrylic display hooked up to my MacPro and it's been working fine for the last year. Over the last couple of weeks the display resolution has been changing to a smaller resolution by itself. I'll be away from the computer and can come back to the screen resolution different from how I left it.
The change can last for a few days, then it will change back to the proper resolution (1600 x 1000). That can last for a few days, then change back again...!
It's very frustrating as I then need to scroll up and down, side to side to view the entire screen.
I've tried changing resolutions, colour calibrating, resetting the PRAM, loaded SwitchResX Preference pane software, run hardware diagnostics but nothing works.
Also - when the screen goes to sleep, it will come back momentarily in the correct resolution, but then change right away to the incorrect one.
Any suggestions where I can start diagnosing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mitch

My Macbook changes resolution also. I have the 13.3" screen. Can't really pinpoint it down, but seems like when I use the touchpad, is when it will change. And it is very annoying because I can't get anything done, because it does it all the time. I've downloaded and installed every update available, and still no good. It does the same thing when I am in WIndows. Anybody know what is causing this and how to fix it?

  • Kernel security level changes on its OWN?

    Hi...
using OS 10.3.9 on a G4 dual 533mhz with a gig of ram. It is wired into an Airport Extreme that firewalls for a wireless laptop as well, yes it is set encrypted and unauthorized NIC card addresses are excluded in the Airport Administration software...
I dont have Little Snitch set to run automatically, but it appears as having launched before the last kernel panic. (so says Crashreporter_
The kernel panic happened between the time this computer was put in user log in window Sleep Mode yesterday and when I woke it up today to log into one of the user accounts (I am the only one to have maintenance/Full Admin. access)
The typical user log in screen with the names was up, but a kernel panic had overlaid the visual... parts that made me perk up was the last line said it was waiting for debugging to occur... the NIC address of the network card was shown, and the IP number that is set in the Network panel...
I checked through Onyx into the System log Crashreporter and found the stream of log info during the 'wake up' mode:
Jan 22 22:28:16 localhost init: kernel security level changed from 0 to 1
Jan 22 22:28:16 localhost loginwindow[205]: Sent launch request message to DirectoryService mach_init port
I have never seen a kernel security change in any of the logs in the past... No new user accounts were made, and no new levels of access have been assigned to existing users...
What does this mean, a level 1 setting of a kernel? Should I Admin Panic along with the kernel?

Basically, the change means that the kernel is going from insecure to secure mode, which prevents the sappnd and schg flags from being turned off. More information is available on this page.
