  • Poor quality glass panel

I am writing to complain about the quality of my new iphone4. As owner of all the previous generations of iphone, I am extremely disappointed that the glass panel of the new iphone was so fragile, that it could not with stand a light fall from about 1.5 feet when I get off the car, the back panel was smashed and I think it's totally unacceptable for a product from Apple. The broken pieces are with sharp edges and very easy to get people cut!!!
And the claim on apple website about the glass is a total lie!!!
"All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable."
    I request a full refund/replacement for this.

I am mad that my I dropped my new iphone 4 and shattered, not cracked, the glass. But I got over it and called Apple to get it repaired. Yes it is glass and it can break, I get it. My fault, my bad, my responsibility. However, there is no way in god's green earth that glass is made from some super, highly durable, same thing as in helicopters, glass. If it is the same, then I am sure a bug being smushed on the windshield of a helicopter would shatter it. The way that glass shattered you would have thought I threw it on the ground in a fit of rage, not an oops, slide off the table. Now WHAT HAS REALLY ****** ME OFF is the fact Apple wants me to buy a NEW phone instead of fixing it. I am seeing all sorts of people fixing these things online but Apple can't do it. WHAT A WASTE. Just throwing away my phone which CAN be fixed. SHAME on you apple for that behavior.

  • Where do 3d glasses plug in?

    Hi All.
I just purchased a FX5600. In the manual (which sucks) and the driver disc it mentions 3D Stereo Glasses drivers.
I just happen to have a pair from an older video card. These are the LCD shutter type of glasses.
On the older video card (which is a Gforce 3) there is a miniture connector to plug the glasses into.
I was wondering exactly where on this MSI card do you plug in the glasses? Do I need to make an adaptor?
With a feature like this built into the card, you'd think there would be some documentation either in the manual, on the CD or at the website.
    Mergatroid

Mergatroid, I've never heard of any newer video cards with a 3-D output connector. It sure would be nice because many more people would get to experience the wonders of 3-D gaming.
Unfortunately, you will have to start all over with a whole new system. What you're missing is the connector that goes between your video card and monitor cable. It's called a "dongle". Finding a dongle that supports your glasses, without buying another pair of glasses, is unlikely.
Don't give up! Your video card supports 3-D, and for $50-$100 you can buy the hardware to utilize it. I'm looking at E-dimensional glasses that start at $100 for wireless, $50 each for extra pairs,(for my friends to watch), and $40 for software to convert all DVD's to 3-D. I run my best PC through a Sony High-DEF CRT projector with a 10 foot diagonal picture. Soon I will be shocking my friends and family with larger-than-life 3-D. I cant wait!
Be careful when making your purchase. The glasses I currently use came from a hasty buy on eBay. They are decent wireless glasses for $50, but I can't buy an extra pair or two anywhere in the world. One pair just doesn't cut it. Now I've got to start over with a new setup.
Long Live 3-D!!!! For those of you who haven't seen it, you have NO idea what you're missing!

  • Ipad mini retina and gorilla glass

Do anyone knows "FOR SURE", not i think, or someone told me, with a link to it, if ipad mini has or doesnt have gorilla glass?
I dont want to hear your stories, feelings, etc. Just the facts maam!

It does not have Gorilla Glass. It uses a different type of glass but with similar if not identical properties. If you did a bit of Google searching you probably would have found this on your own.

  • Mac Book Pro Glass Cracked

    Hi All ,
I knew this is just a community to discuss on the issues .
Recently , somehow my MBP 2011 Unibody model accidentally had the glass cracked .
The LCD is working fine . No damage is done to the screen.
I approached AASP in Banglore for repair & service .
They suggeted to replace the entire lid and not only the glass part . The quoted price is very high .
When enquired more , they said it is how this is done and any Authorized Apple Service Provider wont just replace the glass only . Its like entire lid has to be replaced at any AASP centre.
Is it true that only Glass part can't be treated ?
Waiting for any suggestions on this thread .
FYI . My 1yr warranty is already expired.

Replacing the complete screen enclosure is the normal practice for this type of repair from any Apple store or AARC. Apple does not replace parts for something that is basically a Sealed Unit like the screen enclosure. It is either that whole unit or nothing.
To just have the glass replaced you have to take it to a Specialized repair place that does this type of glass replacement. You may or may not have one near you.

  • What happened to the 17" Macbook Pro?

I have been using the 17" Macbook Pro since they were created and they have suddenly dissapeared, do they still exist?

The 100% anti-glare is better, however for the MacBook Pro to turn into a iTablet, it can't have a anti-glare film as it's a touchscreen.
The 75% reduced glare likely has a process done on the screen itself to reduce glare, however it's possible to get over 99% reduced glare, but it's probally a military advantage/secret process and China (where Apple gets it's products made) will steal or demand the process in order for buisneses to do buisness in China (like Apple does)
See the picture and videos on this site, this type of glass/acrylic doesn't have any reflections, which would make a excellent touchscreen.

  • 3 green dots on my image from the built in camera is this normal?

Whenever I use skype for video calling, Ichat, or photo both there are 3 green dots on my image. They're just anoying and can be seen by the people I'm video chatting with. Is this normal? I can see that beside the camera there are dots one on each side. Are they BOTH suppose to light up green when the camera is in use? Mine, only the right one lights up when in use. Is this something that I should be worried about? Thanks!

    Hi,
If you have one of the very newest Macs and the Manual refers to the Internal Camera as  "Face Time" one then it could be capable of HD in some apps.
I have a USB External camera in use with my G4 Computer
In this pic I tilted it to capture an Overhead light as well as the top of my head.
The Pic was taken about 7.45 in the evening  (I am about 100 miles west of London so it is still quite light outside).
As you can see the Lens cannot cope with the Brightness of the overhead bulb (it is only 50watts) and visual distortions appear as well.
Not only are there the larger flare effects but between the red and blue arrows there are also radiating white lines towards my head.
Your Screen will reflect what is in the room.
How glossy it is will effect the amount you notice.
With a darker background you are likely to notice that you can see your own reflection.
Tilting the screen will move your reflection up or down and possibly at some angles you will not be able to see yourself (you would "drop off" the bottom as you close the lid on a laptop for instance)
If I place a light behind my screen so my face is lit up when it is darker here then it reflects off my glasses and people cannot see my eyes.
I can imagine the case if you wear glasses and have the screen at a certain angle then the green Indicator light is being reflected back to the Camera and is showing up in the pic.
This would certainly "Drop Off" the bottom when you tilt the Screen further.
There may be something that has roundish surface that is behind you that is reflecting the green of the indicator light.
This is a pic of an Effect called Frosted Glass
It is supposed to look like the sort of glass your get in a bathroom.
I post it so you know the type of glass I mean.
My front door, which  is close to my computer,  has this type of glass but also with a wood effect pattern to it.
this has many ridges and grooves.
At times this produces prism type effects on the walls (I have my computer positioned so they don't get on the screen)
I can imagine that a similar effect may happen from a light that has a galss shade or one of those with coloured glass beads making up the shade is scattering green light in this case all round the room and you just happen to see three of them in the video feed picture.
My thought in the earlier post was an effect from the bevelled edge of a mirror that might be scattering light.
    Other causes
    You mention a light sensor.
My MacBook Pro has one somewhere that controls when the Keyboard backlight needs to light up.
I am not sure where it is on mine.
It may be that it has been repositioned on newer computers to the top of the screen.
It may also be something to do with the camera as it maybe HD, to actually indicate there is not enough light to do a HD pic.
However I can't see any indication of this in the Specs sheet for a MacBook Pro.

  • 3D content on Satellite L770-12F

    Hi,
I've just got a Satellite L770-12F and noticed it plays 3D Blu-Rays. Can any one tell me what type of glasses I need to use to view them?
I'm pretty sure I need the liquid crystral active shutter type but would just like a comfirmation before I splash the cash on some.
    Thanks

Im not expert for 3D content but, is your Satellite designed for 3D (display)?
As far as I know you need external device like NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit but notebooks display must be the right one.

  • X70-AST3G26 and 3D

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the X70-AST3G26 will play blu ray 3D movies, and if so, what kind of glasses do I need? I tried to play around with the Toshiba video player's 3D options to find out what it can do, but I don't actually have any 3D movies to test it with, and I'm not sure if I can tell anything with the 2Dto3D option, or maybe I just have bad eyes I don't know. If it has the capability I was going to buy a 3D movie and glasses, but there are 3 different types of glasses and I have no idea what I'm doing. The blue/red kind, the polarized kind, and the active shutter kind? I honestly don't know the difference sooo..  Also will it even work with this screen or does it have to be connected to a 3D tv? Any help would be great, thanks!

  • Google Maps-compass backwards-maybe it's the car windshield?

In Google Maps, my compass is completely opposite- the blue arrow during directions shows that I am going backwards.  I've rebooted, restored, recalibrated compass (many times), turned off and on compass calibration, and any other solution I've found in these forums.  But now, my husband's phone has gone batty as well.  I am now thinking it might be the car.  Our car has a Solar Control glass windshield that contains a metal oxide.  Does anyone else have this problem and have a windshield like this?  Here is a list of cars with metal oxide- https://www.sunpass.com/specialWindshields
Any other solutions anyone else has found?

I should have said- it orients correctly in the beginning and after several minutes or at high speeds, it will flip.  When walking, it works fine.  All cars I have access to have this type of glass.  I was hoping to confirm this with someone else with the same situation...?

I have a Power MacG5 behaving exactly the same way with a large Westinghouse (LCM.22W) LCD Monitor. The problems began when I decided to enable the sleep function to save electricity. For years it worked fine and the sleep problems into an unwakable black screen started on and off with me doing the same to remedy it: restarting or unplugging and replugging the DVI 400 cable (Monster Digital Video)from the CPU DVI port. Now nothing works as a remedy. I have no alternate monitor to use to access the CPU. Now when I reseat the DVI cable the monitor says check connections indicating it isn't hooked up to a DVI output video source even though it is.
I'm starting to wonder if the problem is the G5 video card in the CPU and not the cable or the monitor since I'm not the only one who has experienced the problem with a large monitor when the computer goes to sleep and the monitor shuts down.
