Type of projects

Dear all,
In WBS , basic data screen contains proj. type field , where different type of projects are shown. what does it mean by cost,customer,capital and service project(Pls. give 1 eg. of each) in SAP terminiology? Construction of building and selling it is which type of project?

First you go through "Project Type" Definition:
An object that groups projects according to criteria, The project type does not influence program control or screen selection. You can use the project type as a filtering criterion in the information system.This is useful for reporting purpose.
For Example:
Capital-investment projects
Customer projects or Sale projects
Development projects
Lease Projects
For Construction industry you can create two types of projects.
1) Customer or Sale Projects
2) Lease Projects
In 1st case you need to create project profile as Sale project, in this you are constructing Residential Building & then selling to Customers
For this you are create Project Type as "Residential Project"
In 2nd Case
You need to create Lease Project profile.In this you are constructing Commercial complexes, Health facilities, Park & Gardens, Hotels, Multiplexes etc. after completion of project same will be given on Lease basis.
For this you can create Project Types Like
Commercial Project
Health Facilities Project
Hotels Project
Multiplexes Project.

    Maintenance project

    in Change Request Management. The project contains all maintenance activities and urgent corrections of a solution.

    Is it possible to define activity type rate project (PS) wise since rate is different for each project due to its nature aor any other mechanism by which i can capture

    HI,
    This is possible in WBS level. You need to set the planner profile with the layout WBS element as input parameters. SAP standard is 1-701 layout for this purpose.

    You can set default value to custom field thru Lookup table. Assign lookup table to custom field and set default value to some lookup value (Note: check the “Choose a value to use as a default when adding new item” checkbox).

    Difference between implementation, support & upgradation projects and the role of ABAPer in each of them
    SAP Implementation:
    SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
    implement SAP software in an organization. It is based on best practices and case studies from various literature sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete implementation method to allow any organization to plan and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP) software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of four main phases, i.e. the project preparation where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live.
    ABAP Developer Role is to prepare the Technical Specification (based on a Functional Specification given by a Functional Consultant), build the code, Review the code and finally to prepare the Unit Test Cases. Sometimes ABAPer may be asked to do a technical research for an optimal solution.
    SAP Support:
    After a go live, the application needs a maintenance/support to resolve the issues/tickets raised by the users when using the application. Ticket is like a request for changes/bug fixing or a request for a new ABAP Developer Role includes bug fixing/change the existing code due to new requirements/build a new code etc.
    SAP Upgrade:
    SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version.
    ABAP Developer Role is to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes too.

  • Retrieve all values from project type when project type combo box is null

    Hi,
    We are facing a tight situation here. We have a scenario where we have 2 filter options.
    1) Department ID
    2) Project type
    When department ID is selected all the department IDs should be populated in the combo box and the project type combo box should be empty.
    Similarly, when project type is selected all the project types should be populated in the combo box and the department ID combo box should be empty.
    Then, when more than one value is selected from department ID box and all the values from project type must be retrieved from query level (as per business logic).
    How do we do this? Kindly help us with this situation.

    Basically my situation slightly different.
    I am trying to do a bulk insert on SQL Server table using prepared statement, during that time i am getting the exception. I am using JDBC-ODBC driver. However, if i do individual record insertion, it is working.
    Any idea about this type of problem ?

    In projects also maximum Raw material is used. Usage of semifinished and finished material is minimum.

    In construction industry raw material type is used.
    Ex:
    Cement, bricks etc...
    Cement and bricks is a finished product for production industry, but this as RAW material for construction industry.

  • Object or Bdoc type for project profile(PS)

    Hi,
    we have to integrate SAP PS and CRM marketing Campaign to transfer the cost of the campaign. In CRM we have a node where we assign the Project profile to the Logical client in CRM in SPRO.
    We need to know is there a separate object or BDOC type for this or is it part of some of the existing Bdoc.

  • File Error: Wrong File Type for Project File

    Just had our 2nd LaCie 2tb hard drive crash. Just completed a project and was about ready to compress it when the drive wouldnt boot up anymore. I tried every program under the sun before eventually sending it off for data recovery.
    $1700 dollars later I have all my files, except one little change.
    My FCP project files are not recognizable by FCP anymore. In the get info box it says they are "Kind: Final Cut Pro Document" The preview picture is a gradient box with exec in the green text in the upper left corner. I tried adding the .fcp extension, but it still wouldn't open it. I keep getting the "File Error: Wrong File Type" when I try opening it with FCP.
    Anything I can do to fix this?

    1. open the .fcp file with TextEdit
    2. save the file again
    3. open with fcp

  • Documentation Types in projects

    Is it possible to differentiate Documentation Types selectable in RMMAIN and Solar01/02 ?
    The reason we want this is that we produce project documentation (sub set of the Documentation Types) in RMMAIN and we produce the Solution documentation (another sub set of Documentation Types) in Solar01 and Solar02.
    We select the Documentation Types available for the Project in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and all the Documentation Types selected as u201CProject Documentation Typesu201D are then available in RMMAIN, SOLAR01 and SOLAR02.
    At the moment we have 48 Documentation Types and the list is just too long.
    Is it possible to make just a sub set available in RMMAIN?

    Hi Are,
    As far as I know the both applications use the same documentation types, so it wouldn't be possible to make ones exclusive for one of the applications. You should try to organize your projects and roadmaps creating specific types with may a classification on the name of the doc type, so you could distinguish when using in roadmaps or projects.

  • 641 movement type in Project

    Dear Experts,
    Is it possible to assign movement type 641 in Project for non valuated material (packaging material).
    I have checked it in T_CODE: OPT1, where we can maintain single movement type at a time.
    Our requirement is for both 281 and 641movement type, considering packaging material as capital
    material in Project.
    Please let me know how it can be maintain else suggest any other solution in this scenerio.

  • Converting Cost Budget From Plan level Type to Project Level

    Hi There ,
    I am Working on Project Accounting in Oracle apps .Perviously we used to create projects using oracle forms now we have created the OA pages for the same and using them to create the projects .
    Thus Cost budget done by using forms will be at project level and Cost Budget done through OA pages is at PLAN TYPE .
    And my problem is , I want to convert PLAN TYPE cost budget to PROJECT LEVEL cost budget. Do any body know how to do it , I know that we can convert project level to plan type by running one request , is there any such request to solve my problem.

  • Regarding types of projects

    what is a rollout project?

    The only thing that differentiates implimentation to Roll-out is,
    say for ex: your client has business units in more than 1 country/location. the country/location where the strategic business consuting is done, business rules are based,gap analysis if done, requirements are mapped into SAP implimentations blue prints are drawn for the impliementation, the company code which is the basis of entire company's business logic, meaning in which ever country the first implementtaion is done..its implementation, but extending same rules and processes and mapping the same to other countries/location it would thn be called roll-out.
    say, first you impliment in ex: COCA COLA,USA...it wld be implmentation, then you extend to COCACOLA ,India its wld be called ROLL-OUT.
    ex: NAGARJUNA CEMENTS first implementation then extend the same to NAGARJUNA FERTILISERS.
    the key thing is it is a roll-out only if there are similarities in business logic...ex: in HR side the employee groups etc.
    ROLL-OUT projects are relatively easy, as u already have referencable data in the system to check incase u want to check, how it was done. especially rules in payroll,,its easier to look n copy.

  • Doubt in type of project

    Hi Gurus
    I am in training period.They said it is a rollout project. But ni ow they are creating a new company code. Then can i think it as a implementation project.
    Because as far as i know for rollout project the company code will not be created only plant will be created.
    Iam i right.?

    Hi Kartik,
    the number ranges for equipment categories are not plant specific, they are valid for the whole client.
    Regarding your question with the already defined external number range:
    It depends now on following - if you want to use internal numbering only for the data migration of the equipments within your rollout project OR if you want to have the internal numbering also active for running business after the rollout project. In later case, you have a problem - other plants want external numbering (as it's defined currently) and your rollout plant wants to have internal numbering.
    If you want to use the internal numbering only for data migration, then you could temporarily switch the number range in customizing to internal numbering (with assignment to the number range interval you'd like to have) and after migration you switch back to external numbering.
