Type of video file support

Hi there, I would like to know whether Ipod video(5th generation) can support the RealAudio / RealVideo VBR type of movie file because I got a lot of these files, and hope they can be played in my "future" ipod. Thanks!

Here's an extract on supported formats from the FAQ:
H.264
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
Video: Up to 768 kbits/sec, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, and stereo audio.
MPEG-4
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
Video: Up to 2.5 Mbits/sec, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio.

  • Run and analyze different types of video files

    Hi folks,
I'd like to know if there's any way to read different types of video files (not only AVI - e.g. mpeg, MTS and so on...)? I doubt it is possible by only using LV2010... but might it work together with other software?
    Thanks for help and advice!

  • What types of video files can the iTouch play?

I would like to know which kind of video files it can play, can someone list them?
like for example can it play video files (.avi) which is the most common? thanks

Click here for information. AVI is a container, not a format, and the audio and video inside can be of any format.

    Hello Xandrex,
Thanks for your reply. I was afraid my post has gotten lost between many others.

  • Best type of video files to post on iWeb pages?

I am a teacher and I am posting Screencasts that I record of my lessons each day on my website created by iWeb '09. I have been exporting them as either .mov files or .mp4 files (both H.264) and playing them in a Flash "wrapper". I have been using a Flash "wrapper" thinking that more people have the ability to play flash than quicktime. However, what I have noticed on an old Mac Mini that my daughter has is that the H.264 files played within the wrapper tend to hesitate while playing. If I just "drop" the file in an iWeb page, it seems to play without the hesitation (on the old Mac Mini). (By the way...these files are mostly around 50-70 mb in size.) The problem is that most of my students have PC's and it seems that every year there are at least a few that have problems playing the quicktime files (which is why I went the way of the wrapper). Anyone have any advice on the best video for all?

Will an iPhone or iTouch play these files?
Have you looked at the video playback requirements on the specifications page? You will find your answer there.
The older MPEG-4 video codec would work with QuickTime 5, or higher, installed.
In obvious terms this means that a computer (PC) that does not have Quicktime player installed will not play the MPEG-4 file.
If you wanted to go that route you could encode a WMV file for PC users and a MPEG-4 file for Mac users then use a server side script to determine the users' browser and display the appropriate file. This method is beyond the scope of novice iWeb design, however.

  • Issues with Video file types

I have videos on my computer and it says they are in a divx compression format with mp3 audio. I want to put them on my iPod, but iTunes won't recognise them. Do you know what types of video files can be recognised by iTunes and iPod and is there any way I can convert these videos so they will be recognised?

    From http://support.apple.com/specs/ipodhttp://support.apple.com/specs/ipod:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 640 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
iTunes doesn't recognize your video files because they are not in a file format and/or encoding scheme which it accepts.
Use the free MPEG Streamclip application to convert DivX-encoded AVI files into an iPod-acceptable format.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve

  • Quicktime crashes when opening any video file type.

Hi, I've been having this problem for quite a long time now. When attempting to open a quicktime file or any other type of video file, the program crashes. It does not report any sort of error message. I've updated both quicktime and windows. I've tried everything that has been suggested in prior posts and have yield no results. This is really irrating me. I don't want to have wasted money on this program and I need this for class. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

The files I'm most concerned with playing are my animations exported from Final Cut and from another system's quicktime. These usually are quicktimes or .wma's that are either uncompressed or with a variety of compression, usually DV-NTSC, H.264, HDV 1080 60i, or mpeg4 for the web. But as I've professed before, it seem that the file type isn't necessarily factor. Any video file that should play in Quicktime does not and the program crashes. Upon this I get a very vague error message which reads "Quicktime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." That unfortunately is as much detail as I can give at the moment. I know this is a vague problem and that my information is just as vague, but that is all I have gathered. Anything is appreciated.

  • Problem opening video file on Photoshop CC

When I try to open any type of video file, the message "Could not complete your request due to a program error" pops up. I am on a MacBook Pro running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
I can't get a video file to open at all. Please help!

What specific Sony model? Is it a "MicroMV" model?
Some Sony camcorders use a proprietary digital video format called "MicroMV". Those models can only be used with Sony's software which only runs on Windows.
Quicktime, VLC, iMovie, etc. support numerous formats and codecs, but there are some formats (particularly from Sony and Microsoft) that are not supported. You might try posting your question on the iMovie and/or Final Cut forums. Make sure you post the camcorder model and what software you used to capture it to your PC. Perhaps one of the video gurus on those forums will have a solution.

  • Unable to play any type of video on iTunes

I currently have iTunes 11.0.5.5 running on a 64-bit version of Windows 7. My problem is that whenever I try to play any type of video file including Movies and Music Videos, iTunes freezes. I can not do anything to it. I can't even close iTunes, I can only close iTunes by using the Task Manager.
This problem has been going on since iTunes was in version 10. I have already tried unistalling and reinstalling, but that didn't do anything to it.
I do not know how or why this happend, but I need a solution to fix this problem.

how can i convert video files from my mac to watch them on my iphone?, how can i convert video files to watch them on my iphone?

Turns out the answer to that question changes if you ask it more than 4 times, so ask it again....
The answer depends on the type of video files you want to convert.  If they are DRM protected commercial videos, no help can be given here.  Google.
