Type on path bug

Hi guys,
I have flowed text from one path to another. When u make an export to PDF, text is not exported. When I try to make outline from flowed text on paths Indesign will crash. I think it is serious bug! Text is on background with basic feather and gradient feather effects applied. No spot colors at all.

Works fine here. Can you post the file somewhere?

  • InDesign: Type on path won't print

I have Type on Path in Indesign CS3 file that won't print (to any printer) or won't export to pdf.
In Attributes this object is checked printable. Other objects from the same layer print well.
I tried to remove any styles from  the text, paragraph, and to remove object style. there is no filling on the path.
I tried to align text left, right, in the middle. It still won't print.
Anybody knows how to fix it or is it just an InDesign bug?
    Thank you

Did you try printing the new file on your end? It could easily be that whatever caused the corruption was the same problem and the trip throuh .inx will have fixed it.

  • Charateristic variable with Processing type "replacement path"

    Hi all
    I am using BI 7.0;
    I have a characteristic ZPL_CNT in one dimensions of a Cube;
now i want to use the value of  the ZPL_CNT as column in Query.
So i created a formula and a formula variable with replacement path of processing type:
    setting:
i created a new formula "Calculated MBZ"
the formula variables is "ZMBZ" and inserted the variables into "Calculated MBZ"
    Reference characteristic: ZPL_CNT
    Processing type : Replacement path
    Replace variable with: Attribute value
    Attribute: characteristic Reference (constant 1)
But i find the value in Query incorrect
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dragon,
Can you not drag and drop this characteristic directly in the columns...have I misunderstood something?
I think when you use replacement path in the formula variable , the fromula variable tries to find the reference characteristic value at each record level in the report and then replaces it with attribute value as defined and may be in your case as the characteristice is not defined in the row , it has problems to identify which value of the characteristic it has to replace.

  • Type clipping path of a vector pattern

Trying to mask type with a vector pattern (place a vector pattern in a type clipping path), but nothing seems to be working. Never had issue before. Tried path in front, pattern in front, converting type path to compound path, converting vector to compound path. A couple of times it looked like it worked, but the pattern was invisible within the path. Illustrator CS6, on a Mac. Help is appreciated, thank you.

1 Keep the type live no rason to outline it.
2 place the pattern in the back (behind the text)
3 select both the patternand the text
    4 Object>Clipping Mask>Make
    If you outline the text
then after you outlined the text
1.while the text group is still selected go to Object Compund Path>Make (even though it already says it is a compound path tht actually refers to the individual letter forms)You need the whole group to be a compund path.
2 Make sure the pattern is behind the text and select both
3 Now make your clipping mask

  • Regarding Variable Proc. Typ REPLACEMENT PATH

    HI EXPERTS,
CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN HOW THE REPLACEMENT PATH VARIABLE TYPE HELPS IN REPORTS AND IN WHT SENARIOS WE CAN USE. PLZ EXPLAIN THIS WTH AN EXAPLE.
    REGARDS
    RAMAKRISHNA K

    Hi Ramakrishna,
just go throw the below description.
    Replacement Path
    Use
You use the Replacement Path processing type to specify the value that automatically replaces the variable when you execute the query or Web application.
    Integration
The processing type Replacement Path can be used with characteristic value variables, text variables and formula variables.
    Features
    The following options are available:
    Replace with Characteristic Value
Text and formula variables with the processing type Replacement Path can be replaced with a corresponding characteristic value. In the variables editor, on the General tab page under Reference Characteristic, specify the characteristic that is to be referenced by the replacement. In the Replacement Path tab page, you can choose whether the variable is replaced with the From or the To Value and with the Key or the Name of the characteristic value. You can also specify the Offset Start and Offset Length for the output.
    Replace with Query
Characteristic value variables with the processing type Replacement Path are replaced with the results of a query. In the variables editor, on the Replacement Path tab page, select the query whose result you want to use as the variable. You can now process the data result of the selected query as a variable in a different query.
    Replace with Variable
Characteristic value variables, hierarchy variables, text variables and formula variables with the Replacement Path processing type can get their values from a different variable.
The following prerequisites need to be fulfilled:
    Variable
    ●     The variable must not be input ready
    ●     The variable must represent a single value
    Source variable
    ●     The source variable must not be a hierarchy node variable
    ●     The source variable must be input ready
    ●     The source variable must be available in the query
    ●     The source variable must represent a single value or an interval
In the variables editor, on the Replacement Path tab page, specify the source variable from which the value is to be determined. The value is either determined from the key, the external attribute of the key, the description, or the attribute value. You can specify an Offset Start and an Offset Length for the output here.
The variable is replaced on the variables screen upon each data release.
    Activities
In the variables editor, on the General tab page, choose the processing type Replacement Path.
    Example
If you specify a variable as a characteristic value, you do not have to give a text for the characteristic value right away. Instead, you can fill the text field dynamically, according to the characteristic that you use for the variable when you execute the query. To do this, define a text variable with automatic replacement.

  • How to get type-on-path to wrap an object?

I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions.
Has anyone come across this issue and resolved it??
    Thank you!
Here is the project. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.

Text Wrap only works on area type, not on point type nor type on a path. You'll have to simulate it by inserting spaces, tabs, of invisble characters.

  • Formula variable of type replacement path not working

    Hi Folks,
I have created formula variable of type replacement path and replaces with characteristic key.I wanted to use charecteristic infoobjects in coluns so that i have created formula variable for that. But when excecuting the query in web it is not displaying values for that formula.
Can anyone plz solve this,if u come accross this situation before.

Thanks vineet, for your quick reply.
yes,i have used the characteristic in a row and it is a number.
Still it is not displyaing values. But i need to calculate the couter for the same formula created on that charateristic and need to put condition in the query.

  • Converting type to paths- CS3 vs. CS5

I have CS3, but am now trying out fw CS5, and have a weird issue when converting type to paths.
    Original type:
    Converted to paths on cs3:
    Converted to paths on cs5
This is just an example, I tried with several different fonts, and they all produce different results, with cs5 always doing a much poorer job. is is because of the new type engine? Can anything be done about it?
it makes me question upgrading a lot!

Thanks for the feedback. I had tried your first suggestion to no avail, but had not tried the second. Now that I have, selecting the type only instead of the frame still caused a grad shift when converted. I ended up just re-applying all the gradients, but it would be nice to figure out if this is possible for the future. Appreciate the input, though.

  • Selecting Multiple File Types With Path Control

My application uses a file path control for the user to specify an output file.  This output file can have two different formats (.csv or .mbf) which is unknown until the user specifies it through the file dialogue.  However, when the user inputs a file name with a .mbf extension (test.mbf, for example), the file path control automatically appends the typed-in name with a .csv extension (test.mbf.csv).  Given that the Pattern field on the control is written like this: *.csv; *.mbf., it seems that the control is simply taking the first file pattern listed and appending it to whatever is typed into the File Name field in the file dialogue box.  Selection Mode is set to "Files" and "New or existing".
Anyone know a way to smarten up the file control to recognize the appropriate file type?
    Using LabVIEW 8.6.1.
    Thanks!

    Solved!

Instead of using the file path control, try using the Fial Dialog Express VI. This will bring up the same dialog box but will allow you much more flexibility. Replace your file path control with a button ("Specify Path" in my example code):

  • Multiple Lines of Type Along Path

    Hi,
I have a sort of ring doughnut shape (just to be clear, a circle with the centre cut out) and want to add text within this shape.  To make the shape, I created a larger circle, then a smaller circle overlapping it and chose "Exclude Overlapping Shapes".  I can obviously click within the larger circle and then type along this path, either outside or inside depending on the baseline shift %, but the trouble is my text is multiple lines.  When I press 'enter' I don't get a new line, I just lose the typing tool.  Surely there's a way to do this? I'm using Photoshop CS6.
    Thanks for any help!
    Chris

Surely there's a way to do this?
I guess it’s creating multiple Paths – one for each line.

  • Type - Compound Paths, not working?

so i know i have done this many times i the past, but i'm back in Illustrator afer a long absense and have some type I'm needing to get converted to workable outlines (compound paths?) so that i can do custom tweeking of letters for a logo.
i put the type in, i go type > create outlines but then i cant seem to get to the place where it has a lot of anchors along the path of the type that i can manipulate it? all im getting is each letter in its own square box with 4 corner anchors. i have done every things, including all the compond path comands i think
what the heck am I doing wrong, I have been reading help guides for 2 hours!
Font: Bauhaus 93 (but i have tried a number of font now and all the same issue)
    MacOS 10.7.4
    Illustrator CS3

Two things I would do. From the View menu choose Hide Bounding Box (Cmd(Ctrl)-Shift-B is the toggle). Then if you use the Direct Select tool (Open Arrow) you sholuld be able to select the individual paths.

  • Type on Path tool not typing on the path

Using the Type on a path tool I keep trying to type along the stroke of the shape though it keeps placing text inside the shape? I am using cs5. What am doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Fred,
... I already had type inside. I also want to add type to the path.
Unless changed the the latest version(s), I am afraid the path can only be applied to one Type type at a time so that you will have to copy the path to appy another Type type (sorry, being the type that I am I had to type it in this way).

  • Why Can't I Type Along Path?

I working in PS CS5. I've created a new layer on my image for my text. I created an elliptical and clicked the path button. I then clicked the Horizontal type tool. I began typing, but realized that each letter was creating a "_" instead of typing the actual layer. Now I have _________ going across my elliptical. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Is the cursor changing before you start typing.
If you want the text along the path, hover the cursor until it looks like below
    and then click to type
For type inside the path hover the cursor inside the path until it looks like below
    and then click to type.
You don't have to create a new layer before you type on a path, the type layer
will be created if your using horizontal or vertical type tools (not the type mask tools).
Your using the ellipitical marquee tool to make a selection, then turning it into a path?
Also if your not seeing any type, check that your foreground color is not the same color
as your image and/or try a different font.

  • InsertXML -distinct object types only? bug?

Hi, I downloaded the XML SQL Utility v1.1.0 and I am trying to
use insertXML to insert into Oracle 8.1.5 database. The insert
raised an exception when I inserted into a view with 2 vyearkey_t

    Hi AL,
Yes, this is indeed a bug that was introduced in the 1.1
version due to caching of metadata internally. We will fix this
    and release a patch soon,
