Typekit font (Arvo) only displaying in bold weights...

Hi, I began a site with the Muse free trial. At the end of my trial I bought a subscription. However, I've ran into a fairly significant issue with typekit now that I've subscribed. For some reason, it will only display the font Arvo ( https://typekit.com/fonts/arvo ) in it's bold weights. It doesn't matter whether I choose to use Arvo regular or Arvo bold, it only displays as bold. Same goes for the Italic as well, only bold italic not the regular weight.
Is there any fix for this?

Creating new text boxes and typing new text fixes the issue. Now I just have to recreate dozens of text boxes and enter all of the text in fresh.
I'm curious as to what caused the problem though. Also, if that text is copy/pasted into any new text frame the font weight for the new text frame locks to bold and becomes unchangeable.
Not sure if it's relevant, but none of my text frames were behaving this way before I applied my subscription; the trial was probelm free for me.
Alright, the issue was that the text frames had bold applied to them, however I didn't apply that to any of them. They looked markedly different in my project using the trial than they did when I upgraded to the full subscription. I now know this is because bold was randomly applied to all of my text boxes. Is this a known issue?
Sorted now though.
Many thanks,
Chris

  • Since I installed Helvetica Black, all fonts display in bold, but when I uninstall it, they're fine again.

    I've seen many other people having issues with all fonts displaying in bold with the latest Firefox update. For me, the update did nothing, but when I installed Helvetica Black to my computer, many fonts on the web show up in bold where they shouldn't.
    I have no problems with any of my other Helvetica weights being installed, just Black.
    As a graphic designer, I want to have the font, but I also want to see all the websites with the fonts they intended to use, rather than a default font. Is there any kind of add-on or fix I can use so that I can keep websites in their own fonts, AND have Helvetica Black installed?
    Other details:
    I have the latest Firefox.
    I'm on Windows 7.
    4 of my Helvetica weights are fine, the Black is not.

    Hi there - I'm having similar bold text issues with a customer's instance of Firefox 5.0.1 running on Windows 7, Home Premium, SP1 on a Lenovo laptop. There are two issues to be exact:
    # text that is supposed to be normal weight appears bold
    # some text has an incorrect amount of spacing (padding/margin) around it
    These symptoms appear only on this one machine and appears to be fine in Firefox 5.0.1 across at least 3 other machines running Win 7 as well as all other browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari) we've tested in across a variety of platforms.
    I've attached an image with a side-by-side comparison of the normal view next to the broken view as it appears on this specific machine.
    I've tried unchecking the hardware acceleration option and restarting Firefox - did not work.
    I've also tried running Firefox in Windows XP compatibility mode (as suggested here: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/how-to/repair-the-google-and-gmail-bold-font-issue/) - did not work.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

  • Can you adjust Typekit font weight?

    So I've figured out how to use all Typekit fonts in Muse (by assigning ".body" as a selector in the Typekit Editor and then assigning "body" as a paragraph style in Muse). The only problem is that I am limited to two weights per font: regular (or thin or light or extra light) and bold (which works by just bolding the text in Muse).
    This means if I use a font with many different weights (thin and light, say) I have to choose one or the other in the Typekit editor and can't use both on my site. Has anyone figured out a workaround for this?

    Hi ibhhvcc,
    Right now, there's not an easy way to do this in Muse. Editing the CSS files that come from Muse would allow you to use other weights/variations but of course this involves diving into the code.
    Going forward, we plan to improve the Typekit/Muse integration and I'll definitely share your thoughts with the team.

  • Why are TypeKit fonts not displaying correctly in Pages (iWork)?

    I have just subscribed to TypeKit and am experiencing highly peculiar behavior from the two fonts I’m using in Pages (iWork): Basically, fonts in my document don’t respond appropriately to requested changes in style. For example, if I increase the point size by one point using the the formatting commands built into Pages, the font drops a point size. I’ve had the same experience using the kerning command, where the kerning decreases when I have set it to increase. (So far, the only fonts I’ve been using have been Futura PT and Proxima Nova.)
    Look at the example in the screenshot: “FEATURED EXPERT” on the top line shows in Pages as being 24pt Futura PT Book. However, “SOLO,” a few lines down, which is definitely displaying as smaller, shows as 25pt Futura PT
    In a potentially related issue, when I reopened this same document today, text boxes were suddenly too small for the text (again in Futura PT and Proxima Nova). It was as though Pages was suddenly reading those two fonts differently.
    I have had no issues with other (non-TypeKit) fonts in the same document.
    Anyone else experiencing anything similar? Any suggested fixes? I'm reluctant to unsync/resync the two affected fonts (the only ones I have sync'd to date) because I don't want to wreck the document!

    Thanks, Christopher. After I posted my original question, I did come to realize that it was Helvetica not Future PT showing. Here’s what happened, and here’s why I still need some guidance…
    The document dropped Future PT because when my wifi signal dropped, the Creative Cloud app displayed this error symbol (see graphic) in my menu bar.
    At that point, my computer could no longer access my TypeKit fonts and the document reverted to the system's Helvetica default.
    This was not an isolated incident.
    If I turn wifi off manually, there is no issue and CC continues to operate in the background as it should, with TypeKit fonts still available.
    However, if the wifi drops out on its own, I get the above error symbol and I then lose access to my TypeKit fonts. Very rarely, the CC app will self-correct when the signal is restored. More often than not, I must quit the CC app and relaunch it in order to get things back to normal.
    This doesn’t strike me as normal behavior Have you ever encountered anything like it? Do you know of  a fix that will allow the CC app to self-correct when the wifi signal is restored?
    Any assistance will be appreciated!
    Thanks!
    P.S. TypeKit troubleshooting doesn’t address this particular issue.

  • Dreamweaver fonts displaying as bold in many browsers...

    I am going crazy trying to figure this out - I have no properties in my style sheet or within the seperate .html pages set to bold and have added properties to try to compat the issue such as; font-weight: normal and font-style: normal; but when I preview the code in my browsers (safari and firefox) the fonts look bold. I have also looked at my co-workers computer who is also on a MAC and the same issue is displaying on his. However when I preview on an older IE browser on a PC the font is not bold.. I have tried using different fonts and all are appearing bold so I don't think it is an issue with my font library... any insight?
    Thanks!

    Did the opacity trick not work for FireFox?
    Bummer.
    It appears to be a known issue with Mac browsers and "certain fonts". I haven't been developing on a Mac for a few years though and haven't noticed it until just this week with a google font I added to a personal site. There doesn't seem to be a good listing of those "certain fonts", so figuring out which ones will display faux-bold is pretty much trial and error.
    DW doesn't seem to use the same font rendering system as the browsers, so it doesn't seem to show there. If you'd like to know more, you can do a google search for "Mac Font Smoothing". Maybe there is another trick out there to fix FireFox.
    Let us know if you find one.

  • I use classical Hebrew for my work, and Pages will only display English characters even with a Hebrew font selected. If I cut and paste Hebrew characters from another document, as long as the font is supported, it will appear in Pages.  If I type it won't

    I use classical Hebrew for my work, and Pages will only display English characters even with a Hebrew font selected. If I cut and paste Hebrew characters from another document, as long as the font is supported, it will appear in Pages.  If I type it won't continue in Hebrew.  I have tried downloading several fonts, including those from professional societies, but the only way to get Hebrew in my document is to cut and paste.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I use an older MacBook running OS 10.9.1.  I used to do my Hebrew work in Word, but it is no longer supported by Mac OS.

    Just clarifying:
    Pages '09 has bad support for Hebrew, Arabic etc but will accept pasted text.
    Pages 5 has much better support but with bugs.
    If you have columns they are in the wrong order ie Text starts in the left column and ends in the right column.
    If you type English into Hebrew text it tends to fall in the wrong position eg instead of to the left of Hebrew punctuation it goes to the right.
    As Tom recommends the only real solution on the Mac is Mellel.
    Peter
    btw Tell Apple, they are amazingly slow to fix this running sore which has been broken since RtoL was supposedly introduced in OSX 10.2.3 over a decade ago.

  • Typekit font not displaying in iPad DPS app (created by Indesign) in Web Content (Edge Animate)

    I think I have tried every permutation to make this work, but I am probably missing something.
    I am creating a single DPS iPad app with InDesign, and I am using a Typekit font throughout.  So far so good.
    I have created an Edge Animate project using the same Typekit font.  In preview mode, it is fine as well.
    However, when I place the Edge Animate project into a frame in InDesign and use the Web Content Folio Overlay (regardless of whether I use the .oam file or link directly .html output published by Animate), the Typekit font will not show up in the Edge Animate portion of the DPS app and will instead use a fallback font.
    Can anyone suggest a way to make Typekit fonts in Edge Animate work when embedded in a DPS app?  (For what it's worth, I have the same problem when embedding html output from Tumult Hype, so it seems unlikely that this is an issue with Edge Animate at all and probably has more to do with something in the way the DPS app is dealing with embedded html content.)
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Believe me, I understand the pain. Unfortunately there's only so much we can do at Adobe as the EULAs provided by the foundries for their respective fonts are very explicit in where you can and can not use them.
    For example, packaging an InDeisgn file and sending it off for pre-press with the fonts included in the package is in direct violation of most font EULAs. In a studio environment, you're only allowed to have a font installed on n number of computers and need to have multiple licenses to accomidate >n number of seats. When creating a PDF, fonts explicitly have to be subsetted before embedding into the PDF.
    That's just to paint a picture of the fragile state of using fonts in print, usage in digital mediums is just another bee in your bonnet when it comes to considering when you can and cannot use a font.
    Services like Typekit Desktop are trying to make this easier by removing a lot of those pain and condierations for you, by blanketing all these fonts under a single license you're free to use for print and the web. There's still some gotchyas, but we're aiming to greatly reduce how much you have to think about it where we can.
    So yes there's a bit of education when it comes to mixing embedded HTML content/fonts with DPS, but at least there's options

  • Displaying text in bold weight using PL/SQL

    I am trying to display some text using PL/SQL. I would like it to display in bold, but I haven't been able to find anything that will work. I tried using htp and htf which supposedly creates html tags, but I couldn't get that to work properly. I also tried the srw built in package. My code currently looks like this:
    function CF_NUMBER_HOLESFormula return Char is
    begin
    return('NUMBER OF HOLES LOGGED: ' || :number_of_holes);
    end;
    And it only displays if the variable number_of_holes is not null. I want it so that 'NUMBER OF HOLES LOGGED' is bold but the actual output from the database is not.
    Thank you,
    Amanda Stephano

    Hi Alison
    One approach could be:
    Instead of using a PL/SQL formula, follow any one of the two ways suggested above by Vinayak / Sripathy, and make only your Text Bold.
    Then go to the Property inspector of the fields that you have created, and in all the fields (wherever you want) - whether it is a repeating frame, or a boilerplate text or a data field, you choose "Conditional Formatting" from the Property Inspector and do the following:
    New.. > If the value of: > Number_of_holes > Null > Hide the Object.
    This will print the whole text + number only whenever the number is Not Null.

  • How can I get typekit fonts to display in edge code live preview?

    I'm wondering how I can get typekit fonts to display when using adobe code cc live preview? I'm aware that it's an issue with my local base url, but I'm confused as to how to fix the issue.
    Right now my site is stored locally in a folder on my desktop. I'm not sure what to put in the typekit settings under "domain" and what URL to put in the project settings in edge code.
    A little help please?

    Hello,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. In order for the Typekit fonts to load, you need to add the IP address that you are using for Live Preview to the domain listing on the kit.
    By default, Edge Code uses the IP address "http://127.0.0.1/"; you should see that listed in the web browser when previewing your site.  If you've changed the preview URL in Edge Code, it might be something like butterville.local instead.
    In either case, copy the URL where you are previewing the site, and add it to your domains: go to http://typekit.com and launch your Kit Editor. Click Kit Settings in the upper right corner and add your domain to the domains field, then save your settings.
    Make sure you republish your kit after saving the changes.
    I hope that this helps! If you still have trouble with the font loading, please send me the preview URL you are using along with your Typekit kit ID.  You may post those here or email us at [email protected]

  • Typekit fonts not available in Lightroom (and only in Lightroom)

    Hi,
    I have been a Creative Cloud member (full membership) for quite a while now and just this week I noticed that Typekit fonts I've synced to my computer are available on all the CC apps I use, except for Lightroom.
    The fonts are evidently synced correctly (since I can, for instance, use them within Photoshop CC). However, whenever I try to create a new watermark within Lightroom, my Typekit fonts are nowhere to be found.
    I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, latest Creative Cloud desktop app and all my CC software is up to date. I have searched and roamed the web for hours and have not found a single way to solve this issue.
    I have already tried to sign out and back in, restart all apps, restart CC desktop, reboot windows, all while being permanently connected to the internet.
    Any thoughts on what I may be missing?
    Best regards
    Javier

    Hi Javier,
    Thanks you for sending an email to Typekit Support!  I have forwarded it to our lead Product Manager, and asked him to look into it the bug report with the Lightroom team.  We'll update you again over email once we know more about the bug.
    There isn't another workaround to use the fonts from Typekit in your watermark, unfortunately.  If there are one of two fonts you really would like to use, you do have the option of purchasing the desktop license from the foundry and installing the font on your computer.  Once it is installed, it will be added to all the type menus in Lightroom.
    If you'd like to look into that, here are the foundry websites for the two fonts you have synced from Typekit:
    Felt Tip Roman - Felt Tip Roman – Mark Simonson
    FF Market - FF Market fonts from the FontFont Library
    And again, we will follow up in your support email with more information as well.  Best,

  • How do I use the full range of Typekit fonts?

    I want to use a couple of Typekit fonts (Calluna and Minion) that are not part of the Web Font library.
    Is this now a feature in Muse CC or do I have to use a widget, such as this ...
    Using Full Typekit Fonts in Adobe Muse CC - Widget by MuseThemes.com on Vimeo
    Also, if I wanted to use another font ... such as Apercu ... not in the Typekit library, how do I do this?
    Thanks very much
    Simon

    Hello Simon,
    As of now Adobe only has visual support for the web font library. However you CAN use your type kit fonts. You can use a widget like the video posted describes, however you can also just use custom CSS in the page properties meta data.
    It would look something like this:
    <style>
    p {
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 300;
    font-style: italic;
    h1{
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 600;
    font-style: italic;
    </style>
    Attached are pictures explaining how to integrate type kit with the muse header custom html:
    Navigate to typekit and create a new kit, make sure the domain YOUR site will be published on it selected. The star denotes any page.yourdomain.com.
    After you click continue Adobe will give you some custom JQuery, a type of Javascript. Copy it and place it in your page properties > meta data <head> tag as shown below.
    Add your desired fonts to the kit you created. After you select the style you want, click "using font in CSS" in the top left menu. A pop-upp box will appear with some code. Copy the bottom one to your clipboard.
    Paste into the meta data head tag WITH <style> before and </style> afterwards. h1 denotes heading one, p denotes paragraph etc. The font-weight is the style, when you browse typekit it will tell you the wights; ie proxima nova semibold is 600, light is 100 etc. Font-style is the style: italics, bold etc. When adding this attributes, make sure they end with a semicolon (;).
    Now the fun part: click on your text and go to the text menu. The very last field has a number or letter combo, h1, h2, p etc. These are the text styles that you inputed! If you want the text to correlate to you h1 code, then tag it h1. If you want iit to correlate to you p code, tag it p etc. ALL of your h1 will look the same and all of your p will look the same.
    They will NOT be visible in the editor or preview, but only when published to your domain.
    If that is too much work, just use the widget =).
    Let me know if you have any Q's!
    Cam
    PS: sorry it was so choppy, I couldn't find a good video so I had to snap some quick screenshots.

  • Typekit font not working

    Hi everyone,
    I paid typekit to use Proxima Nova typeface and wanted to use it on my site,
    and I found a thread saying follow Museinsider's blog post here should be all good
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
    I did follow the post but it turned out not working, when viewed in live either my texts disappear or they won't change at all(still showing as images)
    rightnow my web site is showing text as image...
    Seriously need help, whats exactally not working?
    Thanks a lot
    Roger

    Hi,
    You are correct in observing that:
    - Using Proxima Nova (as a system font) in Muse will cause Muse to export text as images
    - For the museinsider.com workflow, you need to use a web-safe or web font
    - Using a web-safe font like Helvetica only gives you access to four styles (Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
    In another related thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5719573#5719573), I had suggested using a web font with a larger set of weights and styles (e.g., Source Sans Pro). I didn't hear from the user if that actually worked, but it is worth a try.

  • Hi, I'd like to add some typekit fonts to my Muse site but- ?

    I know this website:
    How to add Typekit fonts to your Muse site
    from Muse Insider,
    but it totally doesn't work for me, I tried a lot of times and I don't know what I'm doing wrong (I know that I have to publish the site first to see the added font but it still doesn't work ) I'm really confused, please help! (the fonts I want to add is Brandon Grotesque, Activ Grotesque).
    Looking forward to hearing from you soon...
    thanks,
    Karolina

    I was pretty disappointed to find out Muse didn't support the full Typekit library when Typekit became available to Creative Cloud members. It's clearly one of the biggest drawbacks in a Muse vs. Dreamweaver comparison. There are hacks available to incorporate Typekit fonts into Muse, but the "how to" procedures are not very user friendly. Muse Themes has a Full Typekit widget, but even it's not all that easy to use. They have a nearly 9 minute long video on their website describing the procedure.
    Adobe Muse Full Typekit Library Widget | MuseThemes.com
    Additionally, I was pretty disappointed by the number of typefaces in Typekit that were web only (such as Brandon Grotesk) or had only one or two of several font weight available for the desktop/print version (such as Trajan Pro and Trajan Sans Pro).
    As a consequence, I haven't messed with Typekit very much and honestly don't find a lot of value with it -at least not much of the access being blocked. So I'm still looking out for new fonts at bargain introductory pricing at sites like MyFonts or keeping an eye at some free sites like Font Squirrel.
    Incidentally, the "Edge" fonts in Muse pale in comparison just with what's available for free at Font Squirrel. Within Muse you'll get a pretty limited number of weight/style choices with the Edge fonts. At Font Squirrel some of those same fonts have many more styles/weights available to them.
    In the end, it's just a whole lot faster and easier to either buy or legally acquire web fonts either through pay sites like MyFonts or free sites like Font Squirrel and end up with the system and web fonts you can use on your computer in Muse without any crazy code hacks.

  • IWeb 3.0.4- missing fonts –Arial MT and Arial BOLD

    When using iWeb 3.0.4 I'll get the missing two fonts –Arial MT and Arial BOLD– error messages on every single page. This font is NOT in use and I don't have a working version as replacement on my font folder. I don't want to buy it to get rid of the problem. Anybody knows how can i get ride of those without using pacifist ? Thanks.

    I believe those fonts are Microsoft fonts.  Do you have MS Office or any other MS software installed?
    Try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder. -  you've already tried this.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
      3 - launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue with:
    move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
    launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
    go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
    move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.
    It is now generally acknowledged that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
    However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    All of these issues can be solved with 3rd party options.
    I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
    Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
    This might be of some interest to you at this time: Life After MobileMe.

  • Typekit fonts availability

    Hi, I just downloaded Adobe Muse final version and updated the website I've been working on in which I've been integrating Typekit fonts manually… Exciting move forward and ability to use my fonts easily!
    BUT THEN I couldn't find my fonts in the menu! Are all Typekit fonts supposed to be available in Muse?
    I have a Portfolio plan and the fonts I need to use are Proxima Nova Alt and Brandon Grotesque.
    Thanks for helping me with that, can't wait to see everything fit into place!
    EDIT: Here's Typekit answer to this. (HINT: bad news)
    Currently Muse only has the free and open-source Typekit fonts available in it. In the future there will be kit integration, so that you have access to all the fonts in your Typekit plan.
    Maybe someone from Adobe could tell me how long we have to wait for that…

    Dani - thank you again for your quick and clear responses to my not always clear questions - You have been correct in all your assumptions.
    Also I'd like to say you strike the perfect balance between representing Adobe and seeing it from the customers view - not just in your responses here but in your Jam sessions and demos.
    New Question 1: If I download and pay for Proxima from a paid font library (or any matching desktop version to its typekit brother), can I use this desktop version in Muse for the 'design' phase. Then implement the museinsider.com work-around at publish stage to give me a WYSIWYG experience?
    Am i right in assuming they'd need to be opentype or true type? Assume postscript won't work in Muse?
    New Question 2): Yeah excited by the Max announcement of accompanying desktop versions. It quite literally took the request and absolute glaring need out my mouth/keyboard. I realise it is not due for release til June and details may be vague but do you have any knowledge whether this would likely be just the free typekit fonts or include some edge/paid fonts? If Adobe include edge fonts/aka paid - or atleast discount - to CC members, this would be a truly truly significant benefit to being a CC subscriber, and surely convert traditional adobe subscribers to CC members!?
    Just response to previous:
    (don't feel obliged to repsond specifically to this! ;-)
    Have to say I was confused with the free and paid reference.
    Thanks for the Edge being aka paid tip too. As a Creative Cloud member paid seemed not to apply to me because I get the portfolio typekit pack as part of my CC membership at no extra cost. As Typekit is now owned by Adobe - I, I think quite understably, assumed they would simply be available to me in the same way the free fonts are. No need to explain here - I am not having a go at you at all I 'feel your pain' in replying to the same problem - and understand their are technical and legal reasons. With over 15 years in the industry I really do know (and feel the pain of) font legalities. However in light this original post was a year ago it does feel a bit irksome.
    I realise in the aquisition or merging of a company there is a pain barrier - but as a customer I don't want to feel that pain!
    Adobe please throw your weight money and effort at this. If you see the Adobe logo on a product you expect an intergrated experience. As it currently stands it is a serious draw back to its core market:  professional designers who have previously mocked up in Indesign,  Illustrator Photoshop and passed to a developer.
    Oh no. I've become one of those people that moan on forums! Sorry. It's becuase I really care about this and am speaking to someone who can hopefully make a difference or atleast voice this serious need.
    I am super excited by Adobe's developments, have been to a few seminars and am a champion of Adobe products I really see Muse as a very serious solution to some web projects for non coding designers, which is why I have taken the time - unusually for me - to blither on here!
    Thank you for the Adobe Edge Fonts Preview page  tip also.
