Typekit fonts

Hello,
a) is there a way to know what fonts support other languages? How can I tell if this or that typeface supports Eastern European characters without adding it to the page and trying to type sth with it? Should I do it for all 400+ fonts and make myself a list?
b) is there a possibility to add to Typekit my own fonts that are converted to web-ready formats? Let's say I have font "X" that I can use on web projects using css. At this moment - if I want to use it in muse - I have to layout my pages using completely different web-safe font "Y" (or any typekit one, so it won't get turned into images) and then - after exporting the whole site - I have to manualy fix all css files replacing Y with X. You can imagine how odd and unconvenient this is. So is there any other way to do it? Or is it at least maybe under development for future releases?
Thanks for answers, Adobe

Hi Radek,
a) Currently, there is no way to filter the list of web fonts by language support. You'd have to try them out manually.
Please feel free to propose this feature request here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas
b) Support for "self-hosted" web fonts is on our long-term roadmap, but not something we're working on right now.
Please note that font license terms often prohibit this kind of usage, so it is most useful for open-source fonts.
Over time, we plan on adding more open-source fonts to the set of Muse web fonts served by Typekit.

  • How do I use Typekit fonts within Edge Animate

I have applied a 'Pragmatica' Typekit font to a website.  I'm using Edge animate to construct some pages and within these pages want to add Type; however, Edge Fonts does not include the Typekit font 'Pragmatica' and the instruction for the page to use Typekit seems not to filter through into the Edge animate section .... is there a way round this?

    Hi, Trimmertop-
When you open up the Web Fonts viewer, you will see Edge Web Fonts by default.  However, there is a tab next to it that says "Custom."  You can stick in your kit code in that location.

  • Pls help - How can I add a typekit font to muse?

As Muse doesn't come with all typekit fonts already included in the dropdown list of webfonts, I'd like to know how I can add a typekit font to the dropdown menu so I can use it for my website. I have Adobe creative cloud membership.
I've searched the whole of the web and can't find anything about this at all - only about adding one of the existing muse typekit fonts which I already know how to do.
Why doesn't Adobe include all typekit fonts with Muse when you're already a full creative cloud subscriber?

  • How do you add/use typekit fonts that are not edge web fonts?

I am just trying out the new Muse CC 2014.1 (August) release and was keen to try the new font facilities.  As far as I can see that while I can now add other fonts for which I have downloaded web font files via the Self Hosted Web Fonts function, Typekit fonts that are not "Adobe Edge Web Fonts" are effectively unavailable?  Have I missed something.
As an example I want to use the Proxima Nova web font family.  I have selected it on the type kit site, set them up to Sync via my Creative Cloud account.  So for example if I select a font in Photoshop CC or Illustrator, the Proxima Nova fonts appear. Even ok in Word for Mac.  They do not appear in Muse.
To add them as self hosted web fonts, I would need to physically download the relevant fonts files and install them on my desktop using the OS-X font tool.  However as they are being sync'd via Creative Cloud this shouldn't be necessary should it?  Also I don't see an option for doing so on the typekit site.
Any help or guidance would be very welcome.
PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.

    Hi David,
I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. To add fonts from Typekit to your Muse website, you will want to use the web fonts path instead of desktop fonts.  (You can use a desktop font synced from Typekit in your Muse design, but it will exported as an image the same as any other system font.)
There are a couple options for using Typekit web fonts in Muse:
    o) The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
    o) Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website. The steps are the same as this tutorial, but you will add the Typekit embed code to Muse instead of into your page directly:
TYPEKIT | Adding fonts to your site
Note that in either case the Typekit fonts will not be displayed in the Muse preview window. You'll need to publish your site to a server in order for the Typekit fonts to be loaded into the page.
If those look like more coding that you are comfortable with, you might try one of the fonts which you can select from the font menu instead. Here are some that are similar to :
    https://edgewebfonts.adobe.com/fonts#/?xHeight=high&contrast=low&class=sans-serif&width=re gular
We are also working on a more complete integration of Typekit with Muse in the future, but I can't say yet when that will be available.
    >> PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.
Do you see a "loading" icon in the tab (e.g. a blue spinner wheel)?  It sounds similar to this thread; you might try these suggestions:

I hope that this helps; let me know if you have any other questions.  Best,

  • How do I use the full range of Typekit fonts?

I want to use a couple of Typekit fonts (Calluna and Minion) that are not part of the Web Font library.
Is this now a feature in Muse CC or do I have to use a widget, such as this ...
Using Full Typekit Fonts in Adobe Muse CC - Widget by MuseThemes.com on Vimeo
Also, if I wanted to use another font ... such as Apercu ... not in the Typekit library, how do I do this?
    Thanks very much
    Simon

    Hello Simon,
As of now Adobe only has visual support for the web font library. However you CAN use your type kit fonts. You can use a widget like the video posted describes, however you can also just use custom CSS in the page properties meta data.
It would look something like this:
    <style>
    p {
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 300;
    font-style: italic;
    h1{
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 600;
    font-style: italic;
    </style>
Attached are pictures explaining how to integrate type kit with the muse header custom html:
Navigate to typekit and create a new kit, make sure the domain YOUR site will be published on it selected. The star denotes any page.yourdomain.com.
After you click continue Adobe will give you some custom JQuery, a type of Javascript. Copy it and place it in your page properties > meta data <head> tag as shown below.
Add your desired fonts to the kit you created. After you select the style you want, click "using font in CSS" in the top left menu. A pop-upp box will appear with some code. Copy the bottom one to your clipboard.
Paste into the meta data head tag WITH <style> before and </style> afterwards. h1 denotes heading one, p denotes paragraph etc. The font-weight is the style, when you browse typekit it will tell you the wights; ie proxima nova semibold is 600, light is 100 etc. Font-style is the style: italics, bold etc. When adding this attributes, make sure they end with a semicolon (;).
Now the fun part: click on your text and go to the text menu. The very last field has a number or letter combo, h1, h2, p etc. These are the text styles that you inputed! If you want the text to correlate to you h1 code, then tag it h1. If you want iit to correlate to you p code, tag it p etc. ALL of your h1 will look the same and all of your p will look the same.
They will NOT be visible in the editor or preview, but only when published to your domain.
If that is too much work, just use the widget =).
Let me know if you have any Q's!
    Cam
PS: sorry it was so choppy, I couldn't find a good video so I had to snap some quick screenshots.

  • Hi, I'd like to add some typekit fonts to my Muse site but- ?

    I know this website:
How to add Typekit fonts to your Muse site
    from Muse Insider,
but it totally doesn't work for me, I tried a lot of times and I don't know what I'm doing wrong (I know that I have to publish the site first to see the added font but it still doesn't work ) I'm really confused, please help! (the fonts I want to add is Brandon Grotesque, Activ Grotesque).
Looking forward to hearing from you soon...
    thanks,
    Karolina

I was pretty disappointed to find out Muse didn't support the full Typekit library when Typekit became available to Creative Cloud members. It's clearly one of the biggest drawbacks in a Muse vs. Dreamweaver comparison. There are hacks available to incorporate Typekit fonts into Muse, but the "how to" procedures are not very user friendly. Muse Themes has a Full Typekit widget, but even it's not all that easy to use. They have a nearly 9 minute long video on their website describing the procedure.
Adobe Muse Full Typekit Library Widget | MuseThemes.com
Additionally, I was pretty disappointed by the number of typefaces in Typekit that were web only (such as Brandon Grotesk) or had only one or two of several font weight available for the desktop/print version (such as Trajan Pro and Trajan Sans Pro).
As a consequence, I haven't messed with Typekit very much and honestly don't find a lot of value with it -at least not much of the access being blocked. So I'm still looking out for new fonts at bargain introductory pricing at sites like MyFonts or keeping an eye at some free sites like Font Squirrel.
Incidentally, the "Edge" fonts in Muse pale in comparison just with what's available for free at Font Squirrel. Within Muse you'll get a pretty limited number of weight/style choices with the Edge fonts. At Font Squirrel some of those same fonts have many more styles/weights available to them.
In the end, it's just a whole lot faster and easier to either buy or legally acquire web fonts either through pay sites like MyFonts or free sites like Font Squirrel and end up with the system and web fonts you can use on your computer in Muse without any crazy code hacks.

  • Why are TypeKit fonts not displaying correctly in Pages (iWork)?

I have just subscribed to TypeKit and am experiencing highly peculiar behavior from the two fonts I’m using in Pages (iWork): Basically, fonts in my document don’t respond appropriately to requested changes in style. For example, if I increase the point size by one point using the the formatting commands built into Pages, the font drops a point size. I’ve had the same experience using the kerning command, where the kerning decreases when I have set it to increase. (So far, the only fonts I’ve been using have been Futura PT and Proxima Nova.)
Look at the example in the screenshot: “FEATURED EXPERT” on the top line shows in Pages as being 24pt Futura PT Book. However, “SOLO,” a few lines down, which is definitely displaying as smaller, shows as 25pt Futura PT
In a potentially related issue, when I reopened this same document today, text boxes were suddenly too small for the text (again in Futura PT and Proxima Nova). It was as though Pages was suddenly reading those two fonts differently.
I have had no issues with other (non-TypeKit) fonts in the same document.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar? Any suggested fixes? I'm reluctant to unsync/resync the two affected fonts (the only ones I have sync'd to date) because I don't want to wreck the document!

Thanks, Christopher. After I posted my original question, I did come to realize that it was Helvetica not Future PT showing. Here’s what happened, and here’s why I still need some guidance…
The document dropped Future PT because when my wifi signal dropped, the Creative Cloud app displayed this error symbol (see graphic) in my menu bar.
At that point, my computer could no longer access my TypeKit fonts and the document reverted to the system's Helvetica default.
This was not an isolated incident.
If I turn wifi off manually, there is no issue and CC continues to operate in the background as it should, with TypeKit fonts still available.
However, if the wifi drops out on its own, I get the above error symbol and I then lose access to my TypeKit fonts. Very rarely, the CC app will self-correct when the signal is restored. More often than not, I must quit the CC app and relaunch it in order to get things back to normal.
This doesn’t strike me as normal behavior Have you ever encountered anything like it? Do you know of  a fix that will allow the CC app to self-correct when the wifi signal is restored?
    Any assistance will be appreciated!
    Thanks!
P.S. TypeKit troubleshooting doesn’t address this particular issue.

  • Typekit fonts are not working after updating to Muse CC 2014

I had updated to Adobe Muse CC 2014 just recently. The first few times I used it on my muse file, it was fine. This morning when I opened the file, the text boxes using Typekit fonts blew out of proportion. I have not edited the file at all, just opened it. My site is a mess. Any idea what happened? The font I am using is Source Sans Pro.
My live site is here: www.goodseed.com
But see how it looks now in Muse:

  • Why are the TypeKit fonts I am syncing not showing up for use in Illustrator?

    Hi there,
I am beyond frustrated right now.  But that's neither here nor there for anyone reading this so I will get to the point.
I have synced the TypeKit font, Tablet Gothic Wide to my Mac, but it simply won't show up as a font choice in Illustrator.  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this.  I've confirmed that the font selections are added to your account correctly.
In case you weren't aware, the Creative Cloud application needs to be running on your computer in order for the fonts to be synced. If you don't have that installed, you can download it for free from https://creative.adobe.com/products
Once you have Creative Cloud running:
    - Are the fonts showing up in the Fonts tab of Creative Cloud?
    - If you haven't done so already, would you please try turning off font sync in the Creative Cloud application, wait a moment, and then turn it back on?  The option to do this is under the gear icon in Preferences > Fonts ("sync on/off").  Sometimes the app just needs a fresh session for the fonts to appear again.
If that doesn't make a difference, please send your recent sync log files to Typekit Support at [email protected] so that we can look into it further.
    Thank you,
    -- liz
    On OS X:
    * Open the Finder
    * under the Go menu, select "Go To Folder"
    * in the window that opens, type:  /Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/
Remember to replace "(username)" with your own account name.
(Or if you are comfortable working from the Terminal, cd to $HOME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/)
Attach the 3 or 4 most recent CoreSync-yyyy-MM-dd.log files to an email. Please don't send a zip file, as they often get flagged as spam.

  • Can't get TypeKit fonts to work in Adobe Muse!

    HI there!
Just wondering if anybody new how to get purchased fonts from TypeKit to work as HTML in Adobe Muse?
I have tried following the link below but when I go to publish my site the text is still all images.
Problem is I know nothing about code but this seemed pretty straight forward to follow but don't seem
to be getting any luck with it.
I was trying to use the font 'Museo Sans Rounded' and I was told to try maybe other fonts which I did and
also they did not work, but If I just take a font from within the Adobe Muse/TypeKit 'Web Fonts' then this works.
Please could someone explain to me if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a better way of acheiving this?
    Many thanks

    Hi Liz,
Many thanks for getting back to me.
Below are the screen shots of me:
    1. Going into Typekit
    2. Selecting chosen ‘Kit’ and checking that the font ‘Museo Sans Rounded’ is WEB SAFE.
    3. Launching ‘Kit Editor’ and setting the ’Selectors’ > ‘.body’ & ‘.header’ > ‘PUBLISH’
    4. Then I go into Muse and select the ’header' font e.g. I’m a freelance graphic designer &
illustrator based in Bristol.’ then go to ‘Paragraph styles and highlight ‘header’. I then PUBLISH
my site only for it to still be an image.
    Am I doing this correctly?
How do I get the ‘Museo Sans Rounded’ web safe font from Typekit into the window e.g. your screen grab?
I will have a go at putting Arial font into title and then see what happens from there!
    Many thanks

Instead of choosing a system from the font menu, please try selecting one of the "web safe" fonts that are built into Muse, such as Arial. When you re-publish your site, you should see regular text again instead of the images.
    2) using the font from Typekit
Once you have text showing up instead of images, we can work on applying the Typekit fonts.
The kit that you are currently using in your site (ID bnb1odj) doesn't include the font Museo Sans Rounded.  Would you please check in your Kit Editor that you are using the right embed code for your Museo Sans Rounded kit?
You can find the embed code by logging into https://typekit.com, launching your Kit Editor, and clicking the "embed code" link at the top right.   Copy this code and add it to Muse under the Page > Page properties menu item.
Please give that a try, and let me know how it goes!  Once you have republished the site, I can take another look and give you some information on how to set the Typekit fonts in your CSS.
    Thank you,

  • I can see my Typekit Font on Preview but not in Edge

    Hello All
The typekit font works fine when I preview the website or publish the website onto the internet.
But inside edge animate where I am doing the building of the website, it just shows the fallback font, which is different enough to cause text to be out of place when viewing the creation in a browser.
I have been told that it is something to do with the settings on my computer. I am using a PC.
    Can anybody help?

    Hi, Will-
Do you have localhost (127.0.0.1) added to your Typekit's settings?  I'm surprised that it's working on preview if it's failing on the stage, as one of the likely culprits is often a firewall setup issue.
    Cheers,

  • Typekit font not displaying in iPad DPS app (created by Indesign) in Web Content (Edge Animate)

I think I have tried every permutation to make this work, but I am probably missing something.
I am creating a single DPS iPad app with InDesign, and I am using a Typekit font throughout.  So far so good.
I have created an Edge Animate project using the same Typekit font.  In preview mode, it is fine as well.
However, when I place the Edge Animate project into a frame in InDesign and use the Web Content Folio Overlay (regardless of whether I use the .oam file or link directly .html output published by Animate), the Typekit font will not show up in the Edge Animate portion of the DPS app and will instead use a fallback font.
Can anyone suggest a way to make Typekit fonts in Edge Animate work when embedded in a DPS app?  (For what it's worth, I have the same problem when embedding html output from Tumult Hype, so it seems unlikely that this is an issue with Edge Animate at all and probably has more to do with something in the way the DPS app is dealing with embedded html content.)
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Believe me, I understand the pain. Unfortunately there's only so much we can do at Adobe as the EULAs provided by the foundries for their respective fonts are very explicit in where you can and can not use them.
For example, packaging an InDeisgn file and sending it off for pre-press with the fonts included in the package is in direct violation of most font EULAs. In a studio environment, you're only allowed to have a font installed on n number of computers and need to have multiple licenses to accomidate >n number of seats. When creating a PDF, fonts explicitly have to be subsetted before embedding into the PDF.
That's just to paint a picture of the fragile state of using fonts in print, usage in digital mediums is just another bee in your bonnet when it comes to considering when you can and cannot use a font.
Services like Typekit Desktop are trying to make this easier by removing a lot of those pain and condierations for you, by blanketing all these fonts under a single license you're free to use for print and the web. There's still some gotchyas, but we're aiming to greatly reduce how much you have to think about it where we can.
So yes there's a bit of education when it comes to mixing embedded HTML content/fonts with DPS, but at least there's options

  • Hi, I have problem with accesing Assets - Fonts (Synced Typekit fonts)!

Hi, I have problem with accesing Assets -> Fonts (Synced Typekit fonts)!
Can You help me with that problem?

    Hi Tarik,
I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. There are a few things we can check right away to start debugging this:
    - First, would you try signing out of the Creative Cloud app and see if this solves the issue? This can be found under: Gear > Preferences > General > Account.
    - Could you try quitting/restarting the Creative Cloud app. Did this solve the issue?
    - Could you try Turning File and Font Sync off under: Gear > Preferences > Fonts. Wait a second, then turn it back on. See if the font/s show up and if not, try syncing again. Did this solve it?
    - Could you tell me if you're on the Windows/Mac OS X and the version?
If none of those worked, would you attach the CoreSync files and send those to our support email: [email protected]?
On the Mac, the folder can be found here:
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/CoreSync-yyyy-mm-dd.log
(You'll want to open the Finder, click Go, in the menu, hold down the "option" key and you'll see the Library folder.)
    On Windows:
You can find the files under: C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\coreSync-2013-08-xx.log
I know this is a lot. Thanks for your help here.
    Cheers,

  • Typekit fonts not available in Lightroom (and only in Lightroom)

    Hi,
I have been a Creative Cloud member (full membership) for quite a while now and just this week I noticed that Typekit fonts I've synced to my computer are available on all the CC apps I use, except for Lightroom.
The fonts are evidently synced correctly (since I can, for instance, use them within Photoshop CC). However, whenever I try to create a new watermark within Lightroom, my Typekit fonts are nowhere to be found.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, latest Creative Cloud desktop app and all my CC software is up to date. I have searched and roamed the web for hours and have not found a single way to solve this issue.
I have already tried to sign out and back in, restart all apps, restart CC desktop, reboot windows, all while being permanently connected to the internet.
Any thoughts on what I may be missing?
    Best regards
    Javier

    Hi Javier,
Thanks you for sending an email to Typekit Support!  I have forwarded it to our lead Product Manager, and asked him to look into it the bug report with the Lightroom team.  We'll update you again over email once we know more about the bug.
There isn't another workaround to use the fonts from Typekit in your watermark, unfortunately.  If there are one of two fonts you really would like to use, you do have the option of purchasing the desktop license from the foundry and installing the font on your computer.  Once it is installed, it will be added to all the type menus in Lightroom.
If you'd like to look into that, here are the foundry websites for the two fonts you have synced from Typekit:
Felt Tip Roman - Felt Tip Roman – Mark Simonson
FF Market - FF Market fonts from the FontFont Library
And again, we will follow up in your support email with more information as well.  Best,

  • Not all Typekit Fonts available in Muse?

    Hello,
it seems that not all the fonts that are available in Typekit can be used in muse... has anyone a suggestion?

    Hi grafiklieschen,
Abhishek is correct: you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse. The full Typekit library isn't included in the font menu.
You can still use Typekit on your website, though; the fonts just won't show up in the Muse preview. The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website.
We hope to have a more complete integration of Typekit with Muse in the future, but I can't say yet when that will be available.
I hope that this helps!  Best,

  • Can I use Type -- 'convert to outline' in Illustrator on Typekit fonts I've 'designated for desktop use'? I've not been able to as of yet.

I'm trying to print vinyl letters for a gallery I'm a member of and love the Cronos Pro regular font. i've designated this for desktop use and created 24 name files at 200pt. The person working with the vinyl asked if I could 'convert to outline' possibly to make the font a bit larger, I don't really know. When I tried to do this, I found that choice grayed out on the type menu. I am wondering if this means the Typekit fonts 'designated for desktop use' simply do not have the permission to be 'converted to outline'.

Cutting always requires proper paths/ outlines. This has nothing to do with the font or large format printing per se. Beyond that there should be no limitation in using fonts - as long as you can mangle them in AI, it means that somewhere those outlines exist internal to the program so the type can actually be rendered. Whatever prevents this may more likely be inherent in how you treat your text. you would have to provide more specific info on that. Either way, ask in the AI forum for more detailed answers.
