Typekit not publishing font correctly - Regular is showing up as Italic in published page

Typekit font (Source Sans Pro) is not rendering correctly when publishing site from Muse. I know not to expect it to preview correctly (sigh) but it is not publishing. Ex: Source Sans Pro Light 16 point is publishing/displaying in web page as ITALIC, not regular. HELP!
This issue is cross-platform, PC and Mac.
Looks great in Design, Preview all messed up, but PUBLISH shows font as displayed in Preview, NOT as displayed in Design.
HOT TOPIC please!
Thanks

  • InDesign CS5.5 does not display fonts correctly

InDesign CS5.5 does not display Futura fonts correctly. I have removed all versions of Futura from FontBook on my Mac (running Mac OSX 10.7.4) but CS5.5 - Indesign, Illustrator & photoshop - still displays Futura as being open but only InDesign does not display the font correctly. The font displays correctly when I open InDesign CS4 and all other versions of Illustrator and Photoshop.  I really need to use this font. What's going on with InDesign?

In your first screen shot , there are 2 futura font ,one is Adobe Type 1 font and the second one is True Type, you might have installed both the type of the font on your computer sometime. Now you have removed all the futura font and it is still showing in the Indesign , also the same thing happened with the Minion Pro , seems to me the font cache is not updating.
First remove the Adobe Font cache's file:-
At the Finder, choose File > Find.
Type AdobeFnt.lst, select the system drive, and then press Return.
Delete all AdobeFnt.lst files found (for example, AdobeFnt10.lst).
then clear system font cache  :-
    Launch Terminal (from /Applications/Utilities)
Enter the following command at the prompt and press Return: sudo atsutil databases -remove
    Restart your computer immediately
    and check

  • Why is Preview not displaying fonts correctly?

Since the last Snow Leopard upgrade, Preview is not displaying some fonts correctly. I checked to see if the fonts were embedded in the PDF (by resorting to Adobe Acrobat 5... which is not displaying them correctly either) and they are True Type with Windows encoding which as far as I know Preview OS X should be able to handle.
I tried deleting the Preview preferences in User/Library/Prefeerences and restarting but this made no difference. The same PDF works perfectly though on an old iMac that is running OS X Tiger!!!

Well I found a few minor font problems which seem to have cropped up since the last system upgrade, but none of those were the font in question. Also, as I understand it, the whole point of PDF documents is that the fonts are embedded in the document so you do not have to have the fonts installed on your computer to view the PDF properly. I use a lot of special fonts and when I save documents as a PDF I can send them to anyone on the internet and they can usually see everything as it is meant to be.

  • Pages (iWork) is not displaying fonts correctly

I'm using the popular font Ubuntu (as this is our corporate font) in Pages (5.2). Everytime I type an apostrophe it turns it into a little superscript 9. If I type single quotes these become superscript 8's and 9's. Sample below:
Obviously, it is the substitutions for curly quotes that are doing this but why can't Pages display the fonts correctly. This works perfectly with this same font in Text Edit including the susbstitutions. It also works perfectly in Pages 09 (4.3).
So frustrating. Everytime I try to upgrade to any of the new iWork applications I find a bug or missing feature that forces me back to the previous version!

    Bug confirmed.
    Report this to Apple?
There are such an enormously long list of bugs and missing features in Pages 5, why bother.
Stick to Pages '09 until Apple stops pretending Pages 5 is actually usable as is.

  • RH9 + IE10 does not display fonts correctly

    Hi,
When I view the published documentation in IE10 & Firefox 16.0.1
Bolded font displays "exaggerated" (thick and wide) and not as intended. This style was applied using the B button on the RH toolbar. Resulting code is <span style="font-weight:bold;"></span>
Font which is bolded as a result of an assigned style, displays correctly.
Font family in CSS is Arial.
This does not happen when viewing the same documentation in IE using Compability View (to view as if IE9). In fact, this issue only occurred in IE since moving to IE10. Not sure about previous versions of Firefox.
I have applied the patch provided by William to RH9 for viewing on IE10.
I have also verified that font options are unchecked in IE's Internet Options > Accessibility window.
At the moment, I can't confirm this occurs when viewing on another machine.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Very weird. Do these extra bold texts by change have both the inline styling as well as a css attached? I think I’ve seen a similar issue that revolved around bold text within bold text.
Another solution may be to find and replace you bold styles with CSS classes.

  • Preview not displaying fonts correctly - Only question marks

I'd like to report a problem we are experiencing viewing or printing the PDFs using Preview.
We receive regularly PDF files from one of our clients that are created using PDF-XChange (on Windows Computers). The files are on PDF standard 1.4 and include the font Calibri (embedded on the PDF file and also installed on my MacBook Pro)
On opening the files (in Lion) in Preview app. I only see question marks instead of the text.
However these PDFs open correctly using Adobe Reader on the same machines.  The files also display correctly on iPhone, iPad, windows PCs, and on other Macs running Snow Leopard. This problems started to happen after we migrated to Lion (we could, and still can, open the files on macs running snow leopard).
In Preview.app I can copy the "question marks" and past in text edit, where they do appear correctly!

Well I found a few minor font problems which seem to have cropped up since the last system upgrade, but none of those were the font in question. Also, as I understand it, the whole point of PDF documents is that the fonts are embedded in the document so you do not have to have the fonts installed on your computer to view the PDF properly. • PDF creation from ID - not outlining fonts correctly

Hi all. I have a query regarding PDF creation from InDesign (so this could have been in the Acrobat section instead but went for this one).
I work for a publisher using CS2+3 on PCs. We don't have one out of house printer as a rule but several. All have different requirements.
Essentially we are converting fonts to curves from within InDesign when creating the PDFs. Therefore we have multiple files (curved and text) which is adding lots of time onto projects and adding a further margin for error with missing or out of date files. It seems this process is necessary as whenever I select the option to outline the fonts when creating the PDFs, the printers usually get in touch asking for the font, even though it has been outlined.
I am hoping to find any simple solution, hopefully avoiding purchasing extra software, that avoids creating duplicate 'curved' files. I realise it's a big topic and not restricted to InDesign but this is the main software we are using so figured this was the place for it. Many thanks.

I'll let others question the necessity of outlining text. It has been discussed many, many times before, and the only valid reasons I found so far are producing files for hopelessly outdated printers (the usual recommendation is "find another one, fast!") and for legacy custom hardware such as cutters and engravers.
But this is really a mystery to me:
It seems this process is necessary as whenever I select the option to outline the fonts when creating the PDFs, the printers usually get in touch asking for the font, even though it has been outlined.
Tr this: outline all text in your ID document. Export as PDF. Check under Document Properties, Fonts. How many fonts do you see? If everything is outlined, there shouldn't be any.
How does the printer know what fonts to ask for, and what is he ever gonna do with these fonts?

  • Safari 5.0.3 - will not render fonts correctly

Visiting the site/hosting company I help with (www.orgsites.com), the center page content font face/size changes when the mouse is moved over this content area. Whereas the left & right sides do not change.
We are attempting to update the DOCTYPE to HTML 4.01 standards and enclosing HTML element attributes within quotes correctly.
    ISSUE: the font face/size changes.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: the font face/size should REMAIN unchanged.
NOTE this is only an issue with Safari v5.0.3 and Opera v10.63. Works 100% with IE v8.x, FF 3.6.12 and AOL v9.5.
Does anyone know if this is a browser issue with Safari? If the DOCTYPE is NOT coded for the page, the font face/size does not change when the mouse is moved over the content section.
    -Thanks!

    Hi Bruce,
Do you mean you can't install it?
Or that Software Update fails some way?
Do you have any error messages to help us?
There are ways to send feedback to Apple on Safari, but it's like a one way street, you're more likely to get the problem solved faster by some helper here.
Talking or taking it to an Apple Genius is another option.

  • Safari 7.1 does not display fonts correctly in youtube

Since I upgraded to Safari 7.1 any YouTube videos do not display text or the time correctly. All of it looks like small boxes with a capital A in them. I found something on the forums the other day and I upgraded my Flash and I used Fusion Suitecase to clear font caches. That works for one session in Safari and I thought I had it fixed. The next session the same thing happened, so I cleared my font cache again, but it did not work. What am I to do. This is dumb! You get an upgrade and you have to run around trying to fix what it messed up. Never had this problem. BTW, Firefox displays everything correctly, but I don't like Firefox. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi ..
Might be a third party font manager >  Re: All I see is the letter "a"
If that's not the issue, check for duplicate fonts...
Open Font Book located in your Applications folder.
From the Font Book menu bar click Edit > Look for Enabled Duplicates
If that doesn't help, it might be a third party font causing the capital A issue.
From the Font Book menu bar click File >  Restore Standard Fonts

  • PREVIEW 4.1 not displaying fonts correctly.

    How does preview work?
I preview my postscript files for proper separations before I send to the RIP.
In 10.4 everything was fine. Now with 10.5 when I preview PS files the fonts particularly helvetica appear as helvetica condensed oblique.
They RIP just fine but preview jacks up the "preview".
Where does preview pull fonts from? How can I get them to display correctly?

You may have a font conflict with the system version of Helvetica and a third-party version. However whatever you do, do not remove any of your system fonts as it may cause display problem with programs like Safari and other Apple applications. Are you using any font management like Extensis Suitcase or Linotype FontExplorer?
My first port of call would be to clear your font caches using something like the free utility FontNuke, see link below. Quit all applications, run FontNuke, reboot. Let me know the outcome.

  • Typekit not allowing font download

I have 2 seats signed up to Creative Cloud and both have use of Typekit but only one allows for download of fonts the other seat does not have this facility - any reason why this should be?

    Hello insigniacreative,
Thanks for your interest in the new font sync feature!  Desktop sync is being rolled out to users, so not all accounts have access to it yet.  The user who doesn't have sync enable can sign up here:
    https://creative.adobe.com/earlyaccess.
You can also read more about on the Typekit blog, if you are interested:
    http://blog.typekit.com/2013/08/08/sign-up-for-early-access-to-desktop-font-sync/
The Creative Cloud team is adding new users all the time. You'll get an email when sync fonts have been enabled on your account, with instructions on how to get started.
If you have any questions or problems, please send your Creative Cloud Adobe IDs to [email protected], so we can take a look at the accounts.  Thanks!

  • Firefox not displaying fonts correctly

I'm trying out iweb and a .mac site for displaying my photographs. However I change the font to what I want in iweb and the page looks ok, but when I view it in Firefox the fonts are bold and thick and quite ugly. Doesn't happen in Safari, but I don't use Safari much, I prefer Firefox.
Is it a Firefox issue or an iweb issue? What can I do to get the style I want on my website?
Any ideas would be great thank you.

I do know that firefox does not do shadowed effects among a few others. I inquired about it a few months ago and they said that they just don't support effect like that currently. They do have a message board, you should ask about it.
For example: Check this site out on both browsers... Quite a difference! http://777developmentgroup.com/Home.html

  • Firefox 6 running under Windows 7 64-bit does not render fonts correctly.

The default sans-serif font for Firefox is Arial. Running Firefox 6 under Windows 7 32-bit, the font renders properly, but under 64-bit Win7, the font is too heavy, and bold or strong makes no difference. I run Win7 64-bit on a laptop computer and use Firefox 5 on it, and the fonts render properly. Possibly a Firefox 6/64-bit problem?

Hi strangerland, don't give up hope -- I'm using Firefox 36.0.4 on Windows 7 right now.
That said, I understand troubleshooting fatigue and when you find time to think about Firefox again, and have the opportunity to shut down and restart Windows, you might try testing in Windows Safe Mode with Networking, a mode that blocks some external programs that can interfere with Firefox.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 not displaying fonts correctly in live view

I've integrated some web fonts into my website, which display properly in every browser on my computer (and more importantly) on on other computers properly; strangely enough, Dreamweaver CS5.5's live view doesn't display them as they should be displayed. The font Raleway is displayed as Times New Roman, and League Gothic as Helvetica. Stranger still, Ubuntu, which I use for my <body> element in general, works fine in all weights and styles. Any advice on how to get the other fonts to work properly?

The code for Exo is simply a link in the <head> element to Google Web Fonts; <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Exo:100,200,300,400,500,600,700,800,900,400italic' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
Same goes for Open Sans Condensed (sorry, I confused it with League Gothic in earlier comments): <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans+Condensed:700' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
The code for Raleway, Ubuntu and Museo is here:

As you can see, these do reference TTF fonts on my remote server, as well as in my local folder (which mirrors my remote server, obviously).
