Typekit

I may well have missed something fundamental, but in one of the Muse tutorial videos the presenter demonstrates how Typekit fonts can be used. I do not have the Typekit option on my font selector drop-down - how do I enable it? Thanks!

Hi,
This is feature is not available in the beta versions. This is going to be a part of Muse when it is fully launched.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 could not browse your Typekit account.

    When trying to access Typekit through the type tool in Photoshop 2014 on Macbook Pro get the following error "Could not browse your Typekit account. There was an error communicating with the Creative Cloud."
    Yet I can access Typekit through the Creative Cloud app browse and sync fonts which will then be visible in the type tool.
    Is there a setting or preference that I am missing?

    I was able to resolve by signing out of Creative Cloud and then signing back in. This also resolved a problem I was having with the Kuler panel in Photoshop.

  • Typekit desktop fonts are synced but the fonts are not working

    I'm new to Adobe Creative Cloud services and immediate have noticed that Typekit is hit or miss. I have no trouble syncing the fonts on Typekit.com, they show as synced in my CC control panel. Photoshop CC sometimes even recognize the missing fonts as typekit fonts on a PSD load and ask if I want to update the missing fonts with the Typekit fonts, I confirm I do or in general try to use the synced fonts, and it doesn't work – fonts are missing. I restart Photoshop, I restart my computer, I attempt the same thing over and over again. Sometimes it eventually works, but today its not. This is all very frustrating since access to Typekit was one of the main reasons I decided to go on the Adobe Creative Cloud. Please help!

    Hi sws234,
    I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. There are a few things we can check right away to start debugging this:
    - First, would you try signing out of the Creative Cloud app and see if this solves the issue?
    - Could you try quitting/restarting the Creative Cloud app. Did this solve the issue?
    - Could you try Turning File and Font Sync off under: Gear > Preferences > Fonts. Wait a second, then turn it back on. See if the font/s show up and if not, try syncing again. Did this solve it?
    - Could you tell me if you're on the Windows/Mac OS X and the version?
    - Could you check version of the Creative Cloud app you're using and let me know which version it is? This can be found under: Gear > Preferences > General > Account
    If none of those worked, could you drop us a line at: [email protected] and we'll pick it up there? We'll need some account info to continue troubleshooting.

  • How do I use Typekit fonts within Edge Animate

    I have applied a 'Pragmatica' Typekit font to a website.  I'm using Edge animate to construct some pages and within these pages want to add Type; however, Edge Fonts does not include the Typekit font 'Pragmatica' and the instruction for the page to use Typekit seems not to filter through into the Edge animate section .... is there a way round this?

    Hi, Trimmertop-
    When you open up the Web Fonts viewer, you will see Edge Web Fonts by default.  However, there is a tab next to it that says "Custom."  You can stick in your kit code in that location.

  • Pls help - How can I add a typekit font to muse?

    As Muse doesn't come with all typekit fonts already included in the dropdown list of webfonts, I'd like to know how I can add a typekit font to the dropdown menu so I can use it for my website. I have Adobe creative cloud membership.
    I've searched the whole of the web and can't find anything about this at all - only about adding one of the existing muse typekit fonts which I already know how to do.
    Why doesn't Adobe include all typekit fonts with Muse when you're already a full creative cloud subscriber?

    Done!

  • How do you add/use typekit fonts that are not edge web fonts?

    I am just trying out the new Muse CC 2014.1 (August) release and was keen to try the new font facilities.  As far as I can see that while I can now add other fonts for which I have downloaded web font files via the Self Hosted Web Fonts function, Typekit fonts that are not "Adobe Edge Web Fonts" are effectively unavailable?  Have I missed something.
    As an example I want to use the Proxima Nova web font family.  I have selected it on the type kit site, set them up to Sync via my Creative Cloud account.  So for example if I select a font in Photoshop CC or Illustrator, the Proxima Nova fonts appear. Even ok in Word for Mac.  They do not appear in Muse.
    To add them as self hosted web fonts, I would need to physically download the relevant fonts files and install them on my desktop using the OS-X font tool.  However as they are being sync'd via Creative Cloud this shouldn't be necessary should it?  Also I don't see an option for doing so on the typekit site.
    Any help or guidance would be very welcome.
    PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.

    Hi David,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. To add fonts from Typekit to your Muse website, you will want to use the web fonts path instead of desktop fonts.  (You can use a desktop font synced from Typekit in your Muse design, but it will exported as an image the same as any other system font.)
    There are a couple options for using Typekit web fonts in Muse:
    o) The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
    o) Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website. The steps are the same as this tutorial, but you will add the Typekit embed code to Muse instead of into your page directly:
    TYPEKIT | Adding fonts to your site
    Note that in either case the Typekit fonts will not be displayed in the Muse preview window. You'll need to publish your site to a server in order for the Typekit fonts to be loaded into the page.
    If those look like more coding that you are comfortable with, you might try one of the fonts which you can select from the font menu instead. Here are some that are similar to :
    https://edgewebfonts.adobe.com/fonts#/?xHeight=high&contrast=low&class=sans-serif&width=re gular
    We are also working on a more complete integration of Typekit with Muse in the future, but I can't say yet when that will be available.
    >> PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.
    Do you see a "loading" icon in the tab (e.g. a blue spinner wheel)?  It sounds similar to this thread; you might try these suggestions:

    I hope that this helps; let me know if you have any other questions.  Best,

  • How do I use the full range of Typekit fonts?

    I want to use a couple of Typekit fonts (Calluna and Minion) that are not part of the Web Font library.
    Is this now a feature in Muse CC or do I have to use a widget, such as this ...
    Using Full Typekit Fonts in Adobe Muse CC - Widget by MuseThemes.com on Vimeo
    Also, if I wanted to use another font ... such as Apercu ... not in the Typekit library, how do I do this?
    Thanks very much
    Simon

    Hello Simon,
    As of now Adobe only has visual support for the web font library. However you CAN use your type kit fonts. You can use a widget like the video posted describes, however you can also just use custom CSS in the page properties meta data.
    It would look something like this:
    <style>
    p {
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 300;
    font-style: italic;
    h1{
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 600;
    font-style: italic;
    </style>
    Attached are pictures explaining how to integrate type kit with the muse header custom html:
    Navigate to typekit and create a new kit, make sure the domain YOUR site will be published on it selected. The star denotes any page.yourdomain.com.
    After you click continue Adobe will give you some custom JQuery, a type of Javascript. Copy it and place it in your page properties > meta data <head> tag as shown below.
    Add your desired fonts to the kit you created. After you select the style you want, click "using font in CSS" in the top left menu. A pop-upp box will appear with some code. Copy the bottom one to your clipboard.
    Paste into the meta data head tag WITH <style> before and </style> afterwards. h1 denotes heading one, p denotes paragraph etc. The font-weight is the style, when you browse typekit it will tell you the wights; ie proxima nova semibold is 600, light is 100 etc. Font-style is the style: italics, bold etc. When adding this attributes, make sure they end with a semicolon (;).
    Now the fun part: click on your text and go to the text menu. The very last field has a number or letter combo, h1, h2, p etc. These are the text styles that you inputed! If you want the text to correlate to you h1 code, then tag it h1. If you want iit to correlate to you p code, tag it p etc. ALL of your h1 will look the same and all of your p will look the same.
    They will NOT be visible in the editor or preview, but only when published to your domain.
    If that is too much work, just use the widget =).
    Let me know if you have any Q's!
    Cam
    PS: sorry it was so choppy, I couldn't find a good video so I had to snap some quick screenshots.

  • Fonts are loaded in TypeKit but they won't sync to my Adobe software

    Hi,
    Everytime I re-open any of my CC packaged such as Indesign, Illustrator the fonts I have loade din my Typekit refuse to sync and are always shown as missing. Typekit is on and it shows the fints on there as synced. Each day I have to remove the fonts and reload them a number of times and restart my Mac to get them to work. Is anyone else having similar problems? My only solution at the moment is to never shut my Mac down. Not ideal.
    I am not on the most uptodate OSX system would this make a difference? I cant really update that at the moment but wondered if this was the cause or if there is some other flaw in Typekit that others are experiencing.
    Thanks.

    I'm sorry that you are both having trouble with this! The next time that you see this issue, please see if these steps get the fonts to sync again:
    A) turn off font sync in the Creative Cloud application, wait a moment, and then turn it back on.  The option to do this is under the gear icon in Preferences > Fonts ("sync on/off").
    B) If that doesn't help, please check and see if the sync process is running on your computer:
    1. open the Activity Monitor
    2. quit the Creative Cloud application
    3. wait a minute or two, then check the activity list for any Creative Cloud processes that are still running. They will have the red cloud icon next to them, and might be named Creative Cloud, Adobe CEF helper, Core Sync.
    4. if you find any of these processes, force quit them from the Activity Monitor.
    5. restart the Creative Cloud application and see if the fonts sync.
    If neither of those get the fonts to sync again, send your recent sync log files to us in Typekit Support - [email protected] - so that we can look into it further for you:

  • Can't get Typekit to work with localhost (also, another weird issue with copy+paste)

    Hi!
    I've searched through the other posts already, and I *think* I've tried all the solutions, but I still can't get the typekit fonts on my machine.
    I'm trying to use the "orator-std" font.  In the "kit editor", in the "kit settings -> kit settings" tab I have for name "localhost" (w/o quotes) and for domains just "127.0.0.1" (w/o quotes).
    Then (AFTER saving the settings from that tab), I go back into edge animate, I start a new font by clicking that + sign next to "fonts", in the "library" tab.  I set the "font fallback list" to ' "orator-std",sans-serif ' (w/ quotes, w/o single quotes), and then go back to the open browser and go to the "embed code", copy both lines of javascript, go back to edge animate, and... nothing.  It won't let me change ANY text in this box anymore after the window loses focus.  I have to press "cancel" and try again.  So this time, I just type in the orator-std... blah blah, same as last time, but paste in the code successfully as it was already in the clipboard and I didn't need to make the window lose focus.  Okay, so I click "Add font", and apply the font to my text.  Nothing happens.
    Huh... well the "Font's from T" picture is showing up in the bottom right of my screen, so that's odd.  I go to preview in chrome, still ugly old sans-seriff there, also with the "Font's from T" logo in the bottom right.
    I figure "okay, probably just takes a second... or a minute... or w/e like the message said."  Well this was at least an hour ago, so something is still wrong.
    I would love to just delete the font and start from scratch... maybe something got screwed up along the way and it would fix things to just start from scratch.  Well... "sorry" says edge animate... can't let you delete that!  In the "libarary" tab, there's only one font visible, it says "orator-std,sans-serif" (w/o quotes).  If I right click it, the only option is "delete" and it's greyed out.
    I tried doing one with arial instead of sans-serif just now, still not working, but everything shows up in arial now instead of sans-serif... so that's something I guess.
    Apologies if this is just a simple problem that I'm just somehow not grasping.  Please accept this legitimate bug report as payment... the er copy paste bug, I mean...
    Thanks!
    Trevor

    Hi Trevor,
    I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. Typekit can be used locally. However there are some necessary steps that if left out, will cause the fonts not to render. In order to use Typekit locally, you've got to:
    1. Be running a local server when testing your site in the browser. You can tell if you're running a local server by the URL of the local site. If it starts with: file:// then you are just viewing the local file in a browser and not running it from a local server.
    If the local URL starts with: http:// then you're running a local server.
    2. The domain of your local server has to be part of the domain list in your Kit. So, if your local server uses: localhost, you'll need to add this to your Kit's domains.
    I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to us directly: [email protected]
    Cheers,
    Benjamin

  • How do I get sync to work again with Typekit and Creative Cloud?

    I have been using my CC apps with Typekit and it was syncing fine. Now for that last few days I am getting a sync error message. More info is useless—blames lack of an internet connection which is not accurate.  I've turned sync off and on, remove and readied the fonts from type kit. Closed out and logged back in to CC app. Nothing is working. I have two DSL lines both of which are working and have tried it connected to each in turn. Still cannot sync.
    I am now online with Adobe phone support after a 2-hr wait for the call back. Just told my story again. On hold. Now they tell me Adobe can't do anything other than read the same troubleshooting docs that Typekit has on their site (which I've already done). This alliance only works if Adobe and Typekit work together. I've already emailed twice and tweeted to Typekit and gotten ZERO response. I was pretty emphatic with the guy in Adobe tech support and he said he would escalate it to the India "Dream Team." Hopefully they will be more dream than nightmare.

    Hello,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. Typekit Support did not recieve your email, and didn't realize you were waiting for a reply. I do apologize for that.
    Would you please send your recent log files to [email protected] so that we can take a look?  I've included the instructions below. It sounds like there may be a problem with your computer reaching the Creative Cloud servers, and the logs will have more information.
    Please let me know when you have sent that email, so that we can watch for it.  Thank you,
    -- liz
    On OS X:
    * Open the Finder
    * under the Go menu, select "Go To Folder"
    * in the window that opens, type:  /Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/
    Or if you are comfortable working from the Terminal:
    cd $HOME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/
    On Windows:
    C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\
    Attach the recent CoreSync-yyyy-MM-dd.log files to an email. Please don't send a zip file, as they often get flagged as spam.

  • Can I cancel my creative cloud plan but keep typekit?

    Is it possible to cancel my creative cloud plan but maintain my current typekit account?
    I've had my Typekit plan since before Adobe purchased them, once I signed up for Creative Cloud the plans were combined.
    I now no longer need my CC account but I still need to maintain my Typekit account in order to continue to support existing websites.
    I can't find any info on this as a procedure or any obvious was of achieving this through the CC interface.

    Hey N1cco_L,
    We're happy to hear that you want to keep using Typekit! It is possible to change your account to a standalone Typekit Portfolio plan, but takes some assistance from our engineering team right now.
    I think I have just replied to a support email from you, but if not: please send the Adobe ID that you use for Typekit to [email protected] so that we can get this taken care of for you.

  • How can I turn off the Typekit font check when opening files in InDesign

    Adobe InDesign CC, Version 9.2.1 x32
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    Every time I open an existing file in InDesign which is using a font I have installed on my PC I get the following message:
    "No matches were found on TypeKit, click "Find Font" to replace with fonts that exist on your computer"
    I'm able to click on Find Font and then select the font that TypeKit is unable to find - can I stop it checking for this as I have the font installed on my local machine?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Adrian,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. Some users have reported an issue in the current version of InDesign which can temporarily deactivate installed fonts. Please note that this is actually unrelated to Typekit; it just happens to occur at the time you see our logo in the missing fonts window.
    The InDesign team is still investigating the factors which trigger this situation, but the basic issue is this: the Missing Fonts dialog causes fonts which are managed through Extensis Suitcase and FontExplorer to not auto-activate correctly, or for managed fonts to even be visible in the application after upgrade.
    In both cases, the InDesign Missing Fonts dialog appears to override the Font Management tool dialogs that allow users to manage fonts within the Application.
    If you use Suitcase Fusion, there is a simple configuration change needed:
    1. close the Missing Fonts window
    3. go to the Type menu and select "Suitcase Fusion 5".
    3. From the submenu, choose "Library" and then check "All Libraries" so all fonts can be auto-activated as needed
    4. from the Type menu, select "Suitcase Fusion 5" again, and then "Check Document’s Fonts" to activate the missing fonts,
    If the font is being managed by Suitcase, it will find and update the fonts.
    In FontExplorer, if your managed fonts are not visible in InDesign after upgrading to InDesign 9.2
    Go to FontExplorer/Tools and select
    1. Clean System Font Caches (this will require a system reboot)
    2. Clean Application Font Caches
    On non-Mavericks systems, you will need to de-activate and then reactivate font protection.  Launch a terminal window and enter
    sudo atsutil fontprotection -off
    Then enter
    sudo atsutil fontprotection -on
    Relaunch InDesign. your managed fonts should now be visible and auto-activation should work.
    The fonts can always be activated from within the Font Management software itself, even with the missing fonts dialog open.
    The InDesign team is looking into the issue to determine the root cause as well; our apologies for any inconvenience it causes in the meantime.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin

  • How do i install business catalyst and typekit with creative cloud if they don't show up?

    I just recently signed up for creative cloud and learned about muse.  I would like to take advantage of the business catalyst and typekit, but when i open my application manager, neither are available for download.  Am I missing something here?  are they built into the other program downloads?  I'm confused–please help.

    Am I missing something here?
    Yes, you are. They are merely services built into Dreamweaver, Edge and Muse and accessible via the respective BC and CSS panels in those programs.
