              The various types of InfoCube are:
1 Physical data stores: Only these data stores physically contain data in the database.
Types of physical data stores:
Basic Info cube: A type of InfoCube that physically stores data .It is filled with data using BW staging and is then made available to reporting as an Info provider.It can also be updated into additional data targets or build a multi provider together with other data targets.
use these info cubes for read-only access.
Transactional Info cube: These Infocubes allows several users to write data at the same time.They support parallel write accesses.They are basically used for loading planning data.
The drawback of these Infocubes is reduced read-only performance, but has the advantages of parallel write option and improved write performance.
2 Virtual data stores: These are logical views of a dataset.
Types of Virtual data stores:
     Remote cube: Only the structure of cube is defined in BW and the transaction data is managed not in BW but in the external system.
The advantage of this info cube is,you can carry out reporting using data stored in remote systems without having to store it infocube.
     SAP Remote cube: Similar to Remote cube ,but the transaction data is managed in the SAP systems.(external systems here are SAP systems)
     Virtual InfoCube with services: This InfoCube is used if you want to display data from non BW data sources in BW with out copying data into the BW structures. Compared to Remote cube this infocube is more generic and flexible.The data source is a user-defined function module.

we have 1.Basic cube
             2.Transactional cube
             3.SAP Remote cube
             4.Non-sap Remote cube
             5.Remote cube with services.
Basic cubes are used for loading data by scheduling info package.these r for read purpose only and best for reporting.
Transactional cubes r used for loading data manually..means we can write data into this cube..so these r used for both read and write purpose.Ex:SEM.
so both basic and transactional cubes contain data physically.
Remote cubes doesn't contain data physically.It references to the data which is stored on some remote system.whether it is SAP or Non-SAP system.
   SAP Remote cubes r used to extract data, from SAP source systems by using SAPI.
   Non-SAP Remote cubes r used, to refer to the stored data on some Non-SAP source system by using BAPI.
   Remote cube with services uses ,function module as the data source to extract data.
   It may or maynot helps u.

What is the difference between creating index on cube and infopkg in PC

Hi All
I have process chain in which after executing infopkg(load data infopkg),creating index on cube i.e Object type is Cube ,for which execution time is 1 hour,then after (subsequent step ) again create index at this time object type is "infopkg"
execute infopkg for which time is 2 minnutes,what is the diffrence between these two,if i reome create index from cube i can save 1 hour time,I have to reveiew this
chain for performance,plese post me your thoughts,it's argent,your help will be heighly appreciatable.Thanks in advance.

By default once u use create index process type Object type has Infopackage - change it to Cube tech name.
If its Cube - Indexes will be deleted or created for all the date in the cube.

Transport error BRAIN 617 on import of Cube

We got the following error while transporting Infocube which had data in teh target BI system.
Error BRAIN 617 during after import handling of objects with type(s) CUBE
Change involved addition of a characteristic in the cube.
We are in BI 7.0 SP 13.

Then please try to import that request again by selecting all 'import options' in option tab. If you have added one character in cube,i am assuming you have transported all other things (transfer rule,update rule & infosource)

but canu2019t see transaction Cube.

How to create an unsolved cube with awm???

hi all,
I readed the "Oracle Olap developer's guide to the Oalp api" and I found there's 2 type of Cube: Solved and Unsolved Cubes. And this document says: "... if all the data for a cube is specified by the DBA, then the cube is considered to be Solved. If some or all of the aggregate data must be calculated by Oracle OLap, then the cube is unsolved ..."
I tried with awm 10.2.0.3.0A to create an unsolvedCube but I can't. All cubes I created are solvedCube. To know if a cube is solved or unsolved, I wrotte an program in Java to read informations of package mtm.
Some one can tell me how to create an unsolved cube with AWM ou other soft please!

SH is not a relational OLAP data model which is quite different from the GLOBAL schema which is based on an Analytic Workspace.
If you change the aggregation method you will need to re-compute the whole cube which can be a very big job! You might be able to force the unsolved status be de-selecting all the levels on the Rules tab in AWM. However, I think by default analytic workspace OLAP models always provide a fully solved cube to the outside world. This is the nature of the multi-dimensional model.
Relationally, as keys are located in separate columns a cube can be unsolved in that the key column only contains values for a single level from the corresponding dimension tables. If more than keys for different levels within the same dimension appear within the fact key column then the cube is deemed as being solved.
Therefore, I am not sure you are going to get the information you require from the API. To changes the aggregation method you will have to switch off all pre-compute options and also disable the session cache to prevent previously calculated data being returned when you change the aggregation method.

Record count is more in the Fact tables when compared to Cube data!

When i delete request from my cube it is not getting deleted from the fact table. Cube shows around 3.5 million records but when I checked in the fact table it was showing more than 11 million records.

   You may try this approach.
   1. Use TCode listschema
   2. Select the type of cube abd give the cube name as well.
   3. This will display the table sinvolved in the cube(star schema).
   4. Select the Ftable listed there and see the number of rows in it.
   Inorder to delete the entire data from cube, you may need to delete all the load requests that has happened before as well.

One BR to copy data in two plan type

Hi, I encountered this problem with the business rules.
In order to run the what-if scenario analysis, I would like to be able to copy the data from one version to another version using a business rule. However, currently I have two plan type within one planning application. And I have to use two business rules (with run-time prompt) to make the data copy. The run-time prompt for the 2 BRs are the same, for example, same entity, samel copy-from version, and same copy-to version.
I would like the users to just run one business rules (or maybe a sequence) with one set of RTPs to choose, and it allows them to copy both plan type. I have tried to use the sequence, but it seems that the sequence would require the 2 sets of RTPs to be input.
Any advice is appreciated.

Yes. I have tried to use the global variables, with the BR sequence. However, since the two BRs are for two different plan type (essbase cubes), when I choose the merge variable option, it did merge the global variable, and also limit the database name selection to one. (I can not choose the "hide" for the database).
Any other suggestion?

Error when transport/activate cube

Hi Expert,
I face the problem when i tranport cube into BW Production. it displays "Moved value is not within the allowed value range". Then when try to activate manual in BW Prd, it's also the same error.
On Bw delovepment, all it's working fine.

Error when activating cube

Hi,
a transport got cancelled with the following error message:
Start of the after-import method for object type R3TR CUBE
Error/warning in dict. activator, detailed log > Detail
When I open the "long text", I get the following text:
Error/warning in dict. activator, detailed log --> Detail
Message no. R7159
Diagnosis
The dictionary activation module could not activate all objects.
System response
A statement is produced from the activation module log with warnings and error messages.
Procedure
Using detail (or the path Extras -> Log -> Activate dictionary), you get the complete activation module log with detailed information.
Does someone knows where can I get the detail log (or the path Extras - Log - Activate Dictionary)...
In SE14, the table does not have any inconsistency...

Error when tranporting a cube

Hi all,
I am having a problem when I try to transport a cube, the log in the order says:

The errors affect the following components:
BW-WHM (Warehouse Management)
As you can see the log it doesn't say enought information about the error. We are in BI 7.01 Enh 06.
The only object in the transport is the Cube ZCT_C11. Do you know what it could be happening?

I tried to activate the cube with program RSDG_CUBE_ACTIVATE with the following configuration:
InfoCube type = 'B'
Object Version = 'M'
InfoCube = ZTC_C11
And after some verification a pop up appears with the following message:
"Error in Object Editing: Invalid call sequence for interfaces when recording changes"
Message no. TK425
Diagnosis
The function you selected uses interfaces to record changes made to your objects in requests and tasks.
Before you save the changes, a check needs to be carried out to establish whether the objects may be changed. This check must be performed before you begin to make changes.
System Response
The function terminates.
Procedure
The function you have used must correct the two Transport Organizer interfaces required. Contact your system administrator.
I click on OK, and then other pop up appears:
"Error when activating; Please analyze log"
And it takes me to the Log, where it says there was a "Problem class important"

As you can see, It says the same written in transport log.
What else can I do?

Why to use a Basic Cube?

If with a transactional infocube is possible to made the same things (and more) than with a basic cube, why not define always all the infocubes as transactional?

You have the option to convert a transactional Info Cube Select Convert Transactional InfoCube using the context menu in your transactional InfoCube in the InfoProvider tree. By default, the Transactional Cube Can Be Planned; Loading of Data Not Permitted is selected. The system then fills the cube using the SEM functions. Switch this setting to Transactional Cube Can Be Loaded With Data; Planning Not Permitted, if you want to fill the cube with data via BW Staging.

Hi,
First difference between BPC and BW cubes is Type of the cube. BPC cubes are Real Time infocubes ( Read/Write), but BW cubes Standard Cubes (Read only)
Secondly grouping of dimensions in BPC will be decided by system. As you know while creating any type of cube system will allow us to create 13 dimensions(BW dimensions - Group of Chars) apart from standard 3 dimensions (total is 16).
Each BPC dimension ( Char in BW terminology) will be one BW Dimension in the cube. If you have more than BPC dimensions then system will group all dimensions from 13 onwards under one dimension called Last Dimension .
Full Optimization will restructuring of infocube, if you have more than 13 dimensions.System will rearrange dimension group automatically based on data to optimize the performance.
Grouping of dimensions under BPC cube is not in our hands. It will be done by the system.

Discovering cubes using the API

I am interested in using the Oracle OLAP (Java) API to discover the cubes in a database. However, the �Developer�s Guide to the OLAP API� states the following on pages 38-39:
Note that the OLAP metadata includes a cube object, which does not map directly to any MDM object� this type of cube object is not needed in the MDM Model.
And, in fact, I have not yet been able to find any �cube� object in the OLAP API (or indeed any direct references to cubes at all).
However, I have also read that �The OLAP API is the technology underlying the Oracle BI Beans for access to relational and multidimensional data� (p. 1-7 of the �OLAP User�s Guide�). Since the BI Beans are capable of discovering cubes, it therefore seems that the API should be capable of this as well. How is this done?
