Types of agents

Dear Experts,
I learnt that there are three types of agents and also definiyion of them.
Responsible Agent: Responsible Agent is a user assigned to a step in the step definition. Expressions, organizational objects, or rules can also be used to assign the responsible agents.
Possible Agent: Possible agent is a user who is authorized organizationally to start a task and execute the relevant work item.
Actual Agent: Actual Agent is the person who receives a work item for further processing. The agent can be directly assigned to step or agent determination can happen dynamically at run time either from rule or from the organization structure.\
But I am not able to differentiate them real time. I am assigning an agent in expression of send mail step. Is he actual agent? Then who are responsible and possible agents. Please tell me with a real time example.
KR,
S Bharath

Dear Bakker,
Thanks for your clear reply. I need one small clarity. As you said all users assigned to a position can be responsible agents. But as far as i know for a position we will assign only one user. Correct me if i am wrong. Also as you said if we make the task as general all users are possible agents.
When i am assigning a user in expression step via container element i mean to send the workitem only to that agent(I do not want others to see it). Can you tell me what is the necessity of making a task as general.

S Bharath

  • Shipment - Shipping type & Forwarding agent

    Dear All,
Is it possible to develop the relation ship between forwarding agent and shipping type?
It means when user select forwarding agent code shipping type should get change in the shipment document or delivery document.
    Regards,
    SmartSD

Try and use tcode OVTVT_CA - Configuration of Transportation Processing for Forwarding Agent
Where, you can define the basic settings that are required for transportation planning, and for status and event verification through the forwarding agents. The forwarding agents work with the sender's.
The following basic settings are possible:
    -Forwarding Agent User Assignment
    -Master Data of Shipment
    -Selection Variants of the Shipment
    -Selection Variants for Delivery
    -Limitation of Available Delivery Selection

  • Agent determination in price variance workflow

    Hi all,
I am facing some problem in workflow, can any one help me.
for determing the agent in case of price variance in invoice we are using the rule 009000010(object type T024 is assigned). Can any one tell me how this determines the agent based on purchase group?
now we have a requirement to change the behavior of determining the agent. If the Purchase order is crated by the temporary user(we have some temporary users), the agent determination should be like standard (like 009000010 rule), and for all other users we have to assign the agent name as same as user name.
now for solving this i am planning to create a new rule of type "F"(Agent determination :function to be executed) and assigning a new function module.
Function module will have two import parameters "puthcase group" "purchase order number". Using the purchase order number i will get the user, after that i will find the user type. If the user is temprory i have to determine the agent like standard way (like rule 009000010(object typeT024). Can any one please tell me how the rule 009000010 will determine the agent for the purchase group.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raghu

That rule is not available in the sandbox system I have access to, so it can't be a basic rule. Either it is customer-specific, or it belongs to some industry solution or add-on package.
Generic advice: why don't you simply investigate how this rule solves its task? You can even copy it as a starting point for your own rule.

  • Policy Agent 2.2, IIS 6.0, CDSSO and redirects after authentication

    Hi
I've got a problem where a HTTP/1.1 200 and 302 are returned by the Policy Agent / Application, after the Javascripted POST by the CDCServlet content is performed.
The expected functionality is that the user is authenticated with the AM, the CDC Servlet serves the JavaScript page that will do a POST to the Policy Agent. The Policy Agent should then do what it needs to do with the POST, and forward request to the Application. The Application then does what it needs to do, and in this case, serves a HTTP/1.1 302 for redirection back to the browser.
However, it seems that the Policy Agent might be returning a HTTP/1.1 200, and setting the iPlanetDirectoryPro cookie, quickly followed by the HTTP/1.1 302 and the setting of whatever cookies it wants to set.
The Policy Agent should be respecting the return code of the Application. This problem does not appear when run against the Policy Agent for the Sun ONE Web Server.
Wondering if anyone has seen this before?
Here is sanitized output from a trace on the POST and resulting response.

  • Third party agent commission

    Dear Experts,
    Greetings.
I have a scinario whereby we do give commission to our third party agents. We want to built system such a way that while genrating sales order itself we will be able to enter some amount manually through pricing condition or any other way which should be having a link with it's own g/l in which the amount will be accumilating and the value which was entered in sales order should not have any impact on it's orignal invoice pricing.
Any help would be highly appriciated.
Please advice how can we built this in SAP?
    Best Rgds
    Nitin

    HI
    1. Create a Agent master how u want like customer or vendor master.
    2. Define New partner functions for that agents like Z1, Z2 etc..,
    3. Assign Agent partner function  to that particular customer master under partner function tab
    4. Define new condition type for Agent commission , in that codition type click on the accruals fields in for that Condition type
    5. In the pricing procedure click on the statistical fields for corresponding Condition type and also maintain account key , Accrual Key also
Try to create one Z report to know about the agent commission
Check and Revert for further help

  • Agents in workflow

    Hi,
I'd like to know somehing about the agents in workflow.
As far as I know there are 3 types of agents:
    1. Responsible Agents
    2. Possible Agents
    3. Actual Agents.
I want to know why there are 3 types of Agents and how they are dependent on each other? Please let me know in details...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pritam Mohanty.

    Hi Pritham,
Yes you are correct. You would assign something in WF e.g. if it changes (using a rule based on company code for example) or if you have a task that is used in different parts of the flow with different agents.
The agent determination is very flexible and very powerful and there are many ways to do it. Some ways are good in some situations and bad in others and vice versa.
Remember that you CAN change possible agents in Production, but you can NOT change any assignments done in the WF template (unless it's via a rule).
Excluded agents - in your example, if Y is an excluded agent then the WI will only go to X:
    possible = XYZ
    selected = XY
    Excluded = Y
    Actual = selected - excluded = X
The excluded scenario is a little different from the way I think it should be designed: If <i>your agent determination</i> results in a blank for selected agents it will go to all possibles. The excluded bit is applied <i>afterwards</i> - it simply subtracts. So if your determination results in one agent which is also excluded then you have an orphaned WI with no agents. (Your WF admin will pick those up with SWI2_ADM1). Still, it's usually simple enough to design around.
    Cheers
    Mike
Additional note: If you are using a rule you can set the flag 'Terminate if no result' - this will send the WF into error if no agents are found.

  • Current Agent Value in Program Exit Workflow

    Hi Gurus,
we are using program exit to send mail to outlook on user decsion step and it is working fine for Sequential approval but when we have to send mail for parallel approval(have used block for parallel approval) we are not able to fetch current agent.
    - Have store agent in workflow container 'Agent' and used it in Block in workflow for implementing parallel appoaval.
    - Created class implementing inetrface IF_SWF_IFS_WORKITEM_EXIT and put it under program exit of user decsion in workflow
    - Now in this class I have created method at work item created to trigger email for which i require runtime work item id and agent for it.
    - We are getting workitem id at runtime and based on it picking up approval agent from workflow container and send mail to it.
    - this workfs fine for sequential one as there is only one approver at a time but in parallel where all approver are maintained in one multiline container, it is sending mail to first person maintained in multiline container.
Please find steps below what i have tried:-
    - i tried with  FM RH_USERS_OF_WI_READ to get current agent for particular work item id  but it is throwing dump no value found at   runtime but stangely gives value if we run standalone for same work item id.
    - Then,  I tried putting wait upto to see if it helps, but then also above fm is unable to fetch agent.
    - Tried by putting select on   SWWUSERWI table but that also is not giving current agent
    Question is:
Why we are not able to get value of current agent through above FM or select from userwi table? How do we get current agent value at the time of work item creation event is triggered which further hits our custom method.
    Please help...
    Regards
    Ajit C

    Hi Ajit,
    Here you go.
You must be having a multiline container (probably of type WFSYST-AGENT) in your workflow which holds all the user ids to whom work item must be going parellely. e.g if the multiline container name is AGENT.
The current agent from that multiline container is referred by &AGENT[_AGENT_line_]&. This you must hast have put in your user decision step/activity as an agent also.
Now in your user decision step/activity, create one single line container element of type WFSYST-AGENT e.g. current_agent. in workflow to task binding, bind &AGENT[_AGENT_line_]& to CURRENT_AGENT. This way you will have current agent in that task container.
Finally use function module SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER using WORKITEM id to read the value of CURRENT_AGENT in your program exit.

    Ibrahim

  • MAC OS X unable to download Cisco ISE supplicant agent

    Hi,
I have a problem with MAC OS X clients unable to download the Cisco ISE supplicant agent using Safari browser but able to login on the ISE guest portal. If the same client was to login to the ISE guest portal using Firefox; it has no issues downloading the ise supplicant and posture agent.
I have tried to update the Java version on the client to the latest; however it does not resolve the issue. As I am new to MAC OS clients; I was wondering what may be the cause of the issue?
I have summarized the issue as follows:
    1. MAC OS X 10.8 with safari 6 -- unable to download agent but can login successfully on the Cisco ISE guest portal
    2. MAC OS X 10.8 with Firefox -- able to login to Cisco ISE guest portal and download agents; no issues
    3. MAC OS X 10.7 with safari and firefox ---  unable to download agent but can login successfully on the Cisco ISE guest portal
    4. Windows XP & Windows 7 & Iphone/Ipad/Android -- able to login/download agent without any issues
    Any suggestions is appreciated.
    Thanks.

For Agent Download Issues on Client Machine
    • Ensure that a client provisioning policy exists in Cisco ISE. If yes, verify the
policy identity group, conditions, and type of agent(s) defined in the policy.
(Also ensure whether or not there is any agent profile configured under Policy >
Policy Elements > Results > Client Provisioning > Resources > Add > ISE
Posture Agent Profile, even a profile with all default values.)
    • Try reauthenticating the client machine by bouncing the port on the access
    switch.
Remember that the client provisioning agent installer download requires the following:
    • The user must allow the ActiveX installer in the browser session the first time an agent is installed
on the client machine. (The client provisioning download page prompts for this.)
    • The client machine must have Internet access.

  • OBIEE 11G Web Services - How to find Catalog Object Type

    Hi All,
I am trying to access the Web Catalog objects available in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 through the Web Services API. I am able to read object names in "/shared" folders using the getSubItems() web service. My objective is as follows
    1. Categorize catalog objects based on their type (Analysis, Agent, Action, Condition, etc...)
    2. If possible, read the presentation column information that each object is using
The ItemInfoType structure only provides for types - Folders, Link, Missing, Object, etc... and does not help me in identifying the actual catalog object type. Any help on this regard is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

Is there any solution for this? We also face similar issue recently...

  • Run Agent on Another ODI and consumming my Projects

    Hi everyone!
    My question is ..
I have an instalation of Oracla Data Integrator, i have my connections, models, packages and all that i need for work but i need an agent that live in another instalation of Oracle Data Integrator, because the problem of license, on my instalation i cant use an agent and i want to use the other agent that live on the another instalation.
I try many options but i cant, on of them is, create the same connections on the topology, create the same models and y dont create more of those things 'cause it means build all projects.
    Thank for your repplies.
If need more explain of this, asking me

    Hi Ace,
As the listener agent doesn't connect to the repository, you could use the same physical instalation thru several master BUT the same isn't true to a scheduling agent once it connects to the master and work repository to get the schedulled process.
What is the type of agent from your environment?

  • In 12c OEM where can I set the notification when the Agent is down.

    Hello Experts,
In 10g OEM environment , while creating the notification rule , we have a tab "availablity" which has the option to choose for the Agent target availability.
But while creating a rule in the 12c , I didn't find that kind of option. So, how can I enable my self to alerted for the agent nonavailability.
    Thanks,
    Naveen kumar

EM12c has an entirely different set up for notifications. You would configure this under the Setup menu by selecting Incidents, followed by Incident Rules.
Within Incident Rules you should see a couple default Oracle-provided incident rulesets. I created an additional ruleset (priority 3, after the default rulesets) that contains various rules, each rule matching a type of incident for which I want to receive notification.
Specifically for the "agent down" situation, my rule is set up as:
    Target Type is Agent
    Status in (Closed; New)
    Category is Availability
Then you specify actions to occur when the rule gets triggered -- I've specified the action to email my EM administrator login, which is configured with my email address.

  • What is agent in bcc

    Hi Guys
what is an agent in bcc and what is the main role of agent in bcc.

Agent does not necessarily mean CSC User
    In terms of BCC/Content administraion
Two types of agents run on target sites:
Publishing agents run on the ATG servers. These agents are configured to manage deployment-related tasks for repository and file assets on the target site.
Publishing Web agents run on the Web servers. These agents are configured to manage deployment-related tasks for file assets on the target Web server.
refer to Content Administration programming Guide for more details

  • CCMS in SOLMAN (setting up CCM4x agents, CSMCONF-File)

    Hi!
I would like to monitor SRM 5.0 and R/3 Enterprise Server 4.7 from my SOLMAN 4.0.
<b>Is that right to install the CCM4x agents on the these satelite systems?
What is the content of the CSMCONF-File, that I am generating from SOLMAN centrally as well as on the both satelite systems?
With wich Client should I generate the CSMREG-user from SOLMAN? (000, 001 or my producitve client)?</b>
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Axel

    Hi Axel,
    Shortly answering to your questions:
There are three types of agents available for monitoring
       - sapccm4x agent is required to monitor a remote ABAP instance (you need one agent registered pro ABAP instance)
       - sapccmsr agent (required to monitor a host without ABAP instance-> e.g. a stand alone host)
      - ccmsping - required to setup technical system availability monitoring of ABAP/JAVA systems and instances
    1) advantages of using sapccm4x agents is that you can get the monitoring data actively pushed to CEN. Also it is possible to setup central autoreacions and use Alert Management Framework (ALM) efficiently.
sapccmsr agents from my point  of view are useful only for logfile monitoring and OS process monitring. To monitor a java-instance with sapccmsr agent is from my point of view useless, since with the default J2EE monitoring content deliverd in CCMS it is not possible to detect a critical situation in areaof perfromance and on the other hand activation of sapccmsr agent could cause severe performance problems if logfile monitorig of J2EE is not deactivated (SAP Note 867773). So, for ABAP instance I would do recommend use sapccm4x, for JAVA instances I would recommend to setup sapccmsr agent for CPU Utilization of single J2EE server Nodes all the other data you have to take from Wily IS.
    2) What is the content of the CSMCONF-File, that I am generating from SOLMAN centrally as well as on the both satelite systems?
csmconf file is a configuration file of sapccm.. agents (CEN system ID, client, users, etc)-> it is generated automatically in dialog mode if it does not yet exists
you can get a very good description in the document
    http://service.sap.com/monitoring -> Media Library _> Documentation -> "..Agents:Insallation and usage.pdf"
    3) With wich Client should I generate the CSMREG-user from SOLMAN? (000, 001 or my producitve client)?
it does not matter in wich client CSMREG user is generated. This user is used in order to actively push monitoring data to CEN-> the client where you start transactions like RZ20 and/or DSWP is O.k.
    4) Can you please describe the technical steps (SOLMAN-side, satelite systems side)?
it depends on which functionality you are going to use for monitoring.
    there are following possibilities:
    1. sattelite systems->CEN( tr. RZ20) -> Autoreactions / ALM
    2. sattelite systems ->CEN (tr. RZ20) -> IBM Tivoli/HP OVO -> tickets (directly or via Service Desk)
    3. sattelite systems -> CEN (tr. RZ20) -> SAP Solution Manager (tr. DSWP)
    I would recommend either 1. or 2.
for the case 1. you should install on sattelite systems sapccms4x/sapccmsr agents and then configure RZ20 / ALM in CEN
for the case 3. check the SAP Note 1023959: "FAQ:System Monitoring Customizing in Solution Manager"

An agent is a java service that acts a listener on a designated tcp/ip port, the agent allows execution of sessions such as model reverses, packages, scenarios and interfaces.
    1) local agent and
    2) user define agent
Following link for how to create user define agent in ODI, hope it will helps you (type 2 agent):
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/10g/10135/setup_odi_agent/setup_odi_agent.htm
For type 1, local gaent :
When you login successfull in ODI, at the time localagent is running at backend process, I hope you observed that when you run any package/interface by default it is choosing localagent and log level is 5.
Provide your personal mail ID, I will sent a ppt regarding ODI
    Regards,
    Phani
