Types of extraction
Anyone could U please give me the links where I can find the extractions in SAP LIBRARY.
Hi,
Your questions is too broad based. Basically in BW there is full and delta extractions. For setting up delta , you need to run delta init load.
You can search the BI forums for extractions, you'll find what you are looking for.

Hi All,
There is two types of extraction
1.Application Specific
Application Specific is divided in to two
a.Business Content extractors.
b.Custom extractors.
2.Cross Application Specific
a.Generic Extraction-Table,View,Infoset,Function Module and Domain
Please explain in detail which comes under Business content extractors and Custom generated extractors.
Regardshi,
Application Specific Extractors :
Application specific extractors are developed by customers or by SAP.They extract data from specific tables that are connected to some application area.
Business Content extractors are : FI, HR, CO, SAP CRM, LO Cockpit. These are std extractors provided by SAP , u can activate ds in RSA5, extract and send to BI.
Customer-Generated Extractors: LIS, FI-SL, CO-PA.
Customer have to generate their own data source for these application.SAP provides objects like info cube for these , thats why called customer generated extractors.
Cross Application (Generic Extractors)
Generic extractors are not apllication specific and used in situation where other type of extractor are not available ie regardless of application u can generically extract master data , text , transactional data from all transperant tables , database views or sap query fuctional area or using functional module.

What is the different between component and component type in extract struc
Hi All,
What is the different between component and component type in the Extract Structure?
I used them, but I never really know the different between them yet.
Thanks,
GraceThe difference between Component and Component Type are:
Component This is essentially the field name in the extraction structure. These can either be SAP delivered field names or custom field names (e.g. Y* or Z*).
Component Type This defines the data definition for the field, along with associated attrributes and descriptions for anything using that Component Type, to define the corresponding Component. If you double-click on any Component Type in an extraction structure, it will show you the definitions that have been setup for that Component Type (will display as Data Element but it's essentially synonymous - Component Type refers to structures and Data Elements refer to tables). -
How to find which type of extraction to be used
Hello,
Can any one help me out to find out which extraction type to be used in different situations.
Thanks,
Raghavendra.Hi,
For logistics modules like MM,SD,PP,PM ,etc you'll use the LO cockpit. Any extractors starting with 2LIS are all LO extractors.
All datasource/extractors starting with 0 are the non LO extractors. So FI extractors are non LO extractors.
If none of the std extractors meet your needs then you create generic extractors using tables/views, Query or function module.

Whihc extraction types to follow for which type of data sources.
Hi,
I have gone through many extraction types like LO, Generic , COPA, LIS etc..
Can any one please help me in telling whihc extraction types to follow for which type of data sources.what do you mean by extraction type? your question is not clear.
if you are looking for weather we can use the full/delta type to extract the data
then you can check in the Check in ROOSOURCE tables in ECC. You can find the various options in DELTA field. -
How to use Set type datasources ?
Hi,
Our team has recently implemented CRM for one of our clients and now are integrating BW with CRM. Thus are developing corresponding objects in BW.
In CRM, the team has created many set types and made those BW relevant as a result system created datasources for each attribute of the set type.
Has anybody used set types to extract data into BW?

When we go for Views and Function Modules for Generic Extraction
Hi Experts,
Can you please explain when we go for extracting the data using Views and when we got using Function Modules using Generic Extraction from R/3 system to BW with examples. And also can you explain when we go for delta for the above both scenarios.
Thanks for you help in advance
RohithHi,
Scenario for Extarction using FM
Imagine the scenario where you need to extract data from
tables having no common field between them and thereby preventing you from creating a view on top of those tables..
Or simply consider tables that are highly unrelatd in terms of fields, but you have a requiremnt to extract data from them.
Also Refer.

Generic extractors are of 3 types:
1. Based on table/view
2. Based on Infoset Query
3. Based on Function module
GenericSteps
Log on sap R/3.
Step 1. create a table or view for generic extraction in se11.
Step 2. Goto t-code RSO2
Step 3. Here u have to decide whether to extract transaction data or master data attributes or texts.
Step 4. suppose if u have opted for transaction data, then give name in the column ex:ztd_m(data source name)
Step 5. select create button, this will take u to another screen.
Step 6. Here u have to decide from which application component u r extacting data.Ex: SD,MM,..
Step 7. in this screen u have to fill short disciption, medium, long( these r mandatory).
Step 8. then U have to Table name or view name which u have created in se11.
Step 9. I f u want to maintain generic delta then u can select generic delta in top left hand side corner.
Step 10. in next screen u have to give some field which is primary key.
step 11. here u to specify whether time stamp or cal day or numeric pointer depending on u r requirement.
step 12. then u have to specify whether new status for changed records or additive delta.
If u choose additive delta ,then u have to load data to infocube or ods object.
If u choose new status for changed records, then u to load data to ods object only.
Step 13. then save it.
Step 14. then logon to sap bw ,then replicate the data source then as usuall.

Getting a set type data to CRMD_ORDER
Hi Experts,
I have created a new settype which has 2 attributes .I need to show these attributes in Sales Order Line Item level.
I know there is a BADI CRM_CUSTOMER_I_BADI which gives me the freedom to show my own screen in the sales order screen(additiional tab).
I need to show the details in an existing tab. Is there a way to acheive this?
Please help.
ThanksHi,
For Example Enhancing product workbench Commpr01 in CRM for any Product category or somthing, we will use set type concept in CRM,for creating set types we need to go EEWB workbench and create .while creation of set types in EEWB itself it will have one option "Create BW extractor".So just we need to select that option system will create set type data source for the same.Delta will be based on Change pointer and it will use push technology.so just u need to ask your CRM IT team to select that option .u dont need to create data source in RSO2.
See the properties of Set type data source
Extraction Methods - F1
Extractor - COM_GENERIC_FULL_UPLOAD(its common for all data sources generated through set type concept)
Extract Structure ZZSET*
Gen. Interface X.
Delta Process AIM
Delta Test Possible X

U can see these propeties in RSA2

Hi, All
I need to create a message type, Enter the fields change pointers eligible for key changer in this message type. Extract program needs to be created and this program accesses the key changer fields status and the changed values on day to day basis for the message type using tables BDCPS & BDCPV.
Can any one tell me how to do this.
Many Thanks.Hello siri
I think if you talking with respect to ALE/IDOC or EDI/IDOC..........this posting has to be entered in data transfer.........................and you can create message type using trasaction we81.

How to use Z transaction type while in the Transaction launcher Wizard?
In SPRO->CRM->Transactions->Basic Settings->Define transaction Types I can see a whole host of Z transaction types.
These define all sorts of business transaction defaults. Within the Transaction launcher Wizard there is a Transaction Type that can be entered, but I can only see three options, being 'BOR Transaction', 'URL Transaction' and ' M', for some reason. None of the transaction types shown in the above SPRO path are displayed.
Does anyone know how I can use my Z transation type. These are used by the config behind the Action Boxes for the Winclient IC, but I can not get the Transaction launcher wizard to see or use these. The SAP How-to Guide to tha Transaction Launcher says that only BOR and URL Transactions can be used (unless you have IS-U). If this is true then how does one provide all the information provided by the Transaction type. The whole idea of the transaction type is default this information in one area.
Anyone.
JasonI think it is possible.
In CRMC_UI_NBLINKS if you look at the logical links you can see that SRV-ORD-DC has a Parameter of 'SRVO' with a certain Parameter Class.
If you were to check SPRO->CRM->Transactions_Basic Settings->Transaction Types you will see that SRVO exists as an entry. This logical ink is therefore using this Transaction type to extract characteristics etc.
Having said that, I need to call the sales order create with a certain transaction type, so I copied SLS-SLO-CR to a Z copy, added the Parameter of 'Z111' and also used the Parameter class of CL_CRM_UIU_BT_PARAM_CREATE.
This should now, in theory all work, and show the exact same transaction in the Webclient IC as it does in the Winclient IC as they are both using the same Transaction type. However, the Webclient transaction looks different in terms of fields etc., so I don't think it's working. after all.

How to use ZSLFN transaction type

Types of extractors used in LO'S
hi guru's
i attended a interview they asked me,
what type of extractors did u use in lo's?
awaiting reply.
sharathHi,
BW Extraction
we have two types of extractions
1) Application specific
2) cross application
under applicatin specific -->we have customer genenrated and business content extractions
under customer generated means LIS, CO-PA, FI-SL(i.e no ready made data source in business content so we have to generate datasource)
Business content means there is ready made business content datasource so we can use it
LIS,LO --> when ever we go for extracting logistics informatin
CO-PA--> for financial info
under cross Applicaion
Generic extraction-->table, view, infoset query, function module
Generic extractors are of 3 types:
1. Based on table/view
2. Based on Infoset Query
3. Based on Function module
The first 2 are straight forward extraction.
The basic difference between LO and FI is:
LO extraction works based on Update Tables where as FI extraction works based on Timestamp table.
LO: For updating the extraction of transactional data from the different logistics applications (MM, PP, SD and so on), the technology for collective updates (u2018V3 updatesu2019) is used (until PI 2003.1). This means that the data is collected in the R/3 update tables before the transfer to the interface: the data is retrieved there by means of a periodic update process that needs to be started in order to transfer delta records to the the BW system delta queue.During this V3 collective run (that you can start and schedule from LBWE for each application component), the data is transferred to the BW delta queue (that you can see from RSA7or LBWQ transactions, from which they are retrieved by means of (delta) requests from the BW system.
