Typewriter Tool font is ridiculously small

I edit docs a lot with the typewriter tool. Never had a problem. Now  I dont know but all of a sudden why but the font size is like a 1 even if I set it to the max size. It's almost imperceptable the stuff I type cause its so small. How can I fix this?

Not possible. You'll need to go to your operating system and choose a screen resolution that displays the screen with larger pixels.
Or get a new prescription for your glasses (seriously!)

  • Ridiculously small 27'' iMac fonts

    hi guys
i have a late 2009 , 27'' iMac i7 , gorgeous machine, gorgeous screen, fast & everything BUT & i have this ''beef'' with it ever since i bought it :
in some instances the fonts are RIDICULOUSLY SMALL & worse, one can't even change them, at least not satisfactoruly !? want to laugh a little ? just check this screen shot of a full-screen Safari window of Apple's own feedback page -
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/ekzrrd
i mean, i measured them with a caliper ruler & they are EXACTLY 2mm tall - on a screen standing roughly 50cm away from me !? couldn't they AT LEAST be the same size as my name & the rest of the fonts on that screen-shot, is it RREALLY THAT difficult to implement ? or was this decided for fear 27'' screen owners might run out of space .........
before Lion came out it was widespread on the web that this ''issue'' would be addressed but i already installed Lion &.....NOTHING !?
this gets even more ridiculous under the recently introduced Lion possibility of running apps in full screen - i mean what's the point ?
& PLEASE, without wanting to be insulting to no one,  spare me the ''change the resolution'' or the ''zoom in'' half-a***d solutions i already read about elsewhere & tried - that IS NOT the reason why i paid nearly 2000€ for this machine, specially since according to what i read this font size change is EASILY doable on your run of the mill 500€ PC running clunky old Windows, apparently in any of it's incarnations...........
granted my eyesight is past it's prime but i do wear the correct prescription glasses & at the end of the day should a 2000€ computer put further strain on it ? or actually work with the user ( give him the necessary options.. ) to make his computing experience as pleasant as it's possible ? or is this because ALL 27'' iMac users have 20/20 eyesight ? i wonder....
any suggestions would be VERY welcome since this REALLY detracts from the pleasure that using this computer IS & i strongly suggest everyone having this issue with their high res 27'' iMacs or high-res displays to write to Apple about it, asking for a solution to this very real problem :
      http://www.apple.com/feedback/
meanwhile if anyone has a REAL solution to this i will be eternally grateful, many thanks

That's why I prefer the earlier 24" model, nearly the same resolution as the new 21.5" but on a larger screen.
There's always tension between two camps, those that want bigger screens to get more on and appear sharper by having higher native resolutions, and those that want bigger screens with a lower native resolution so things appear bigger.
    Traditionally the former have won.

  • How do you increase the font size to bigger than 24, using the typewriter tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac?

How do you increase the font size to bigger than 24, using the typewriter tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac?   Often I just want to label an item on a map that is in PDF and want to use a simple label rather than a Text Box for labeling, but have yet to find a way to increase the font size beyond 24.   Can someone help me with this? - JML

You can't. Any version before Creative Cloud does not support high-DPI displays and that is just that. If you cannot adjust the system's screen resolution and so on, then there is nothing you can do.

  • Cannot change font, size or anything for typewriter tool

    Hello all,
I am having an issue with the typewriter tool.  I cannot seem to change my font on about 95% of my PDFs?  Every once in awhile I am able to change the font and size.  But I cannot find a consistancy and cannot figure out the issue?  When I want to write on the PDFs to change size or font, it won't allow me to.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Lorne

I believe I have good news for all who have this trouble. It's been annoying since day one.
I accidentally discovered that by setting your cursor just off the edges of the document and begin your typing, the font properties always remain easily available!
Once you have created a typed message (any number of characters is okay), you can then drag the filled-in Typewriter Text Box to any location on the document; and you can continue to edit, at will!
Using the Typewriter Tool, I've had less than 05% font selection success when I type directly on/in the document.
Using the Typewriter Tool, I've had 100% font selection success by starting my typing in this space just off the document surface. Once finished typing, I just drag the box to the document surface. I hope this works for you, too!
See image. To enlage this image, press your Ctrl key and scroll. Good luck!

  • How do I change the font size of the "typewriter tool" when filling out a form?

How do I change the font size of the "typewriter tool" when filling out a form?
    == This happened ==
    Not sure how often
== The typewriter tool works, but the font is very tiny.

You can set a minimum size for the Monospace font:
    Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors: Advanced > Monospace

  • Red font with typewriter tool

The font with the typewriter tool is red and I have seen a lot of posts that say you can't change the typewriter font color. However, most people seem to get black with their typ tool. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get black font color?
    Thanks

    For Acrobat 8 —
Update 8.1 addressed bug 1448468 (Typewriter tool text is red instead of black).

    For Acrobat 9 —
With the Typewriter toolbar open you can decrease or increase selected text, decrease of increase  line spacing, change font color, font type, and font size.
    A screen capture:
    (1) is the Typewriter toolbar
    (2) is the Properties toolbar. Nothing is available with the text from use of the Typewriter tool is selected (3).
If you select the bounding annotation placed by the Typewriter tool a Properties dialog (shown in second screen capture) is available.

  • Acrobat 9 Editing Typewriter tool

I can't get to my AA9 right now (recovering the HD), but in AA8 the tools appear to be grayed out, but they are still active. That may be the same appearance issue for you. Have you tried them? Of course, in AA8 only the font size and line spacing can be changed, not the font or color.
Sorry Bill.. had to start a new discussion because the blue Reply button did not function (any ideas on that?!)
Yes I tried clicking on the grayed tools but no response. Further to my question, I opened another pdf and was able to use Typewriter to type. However, this time the size and line spacing tools were grayed out, but I was able to change font and font size using the boxes on the right, which were mysteriously active in doc#2... the inconsistency doesn't make sense.. yet
Just turned up a most bizarre wrinkle to this issue.
I was using the typewriter tool in another document (Doc#2). This time the tools were not grayed out, and I was able to change the font, font size and font color at will. When I returned to the first document (Doc#1 -where the typewriter is active, but the tools all grayed out) and typed into the document I was very surprised to see that all the Typewriter settings from the Doc#2 were now applied to the Typewriter tool in Doc#1 !!!  Go figure... By the way, this is all taking place in Windows XP 5.1

You may be viewing the document in PDF/A mode which turns off Typewriter and Forms editing.  Don't ask me why; I just discovered it.  Go to Edit --> Preferences on the tool bar and select the "Documents" category.  On that window is PDF/A View Mode.  Set the view mode to "Never" (view documents in PDF/A mode).  See screen shot below.  That fixed the problem for me; hope it works for you.

  • Why does the Typewriter Tool stop working in an enabled Reader document?

I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader (9.4).  I use it to complete Adobe Reader - enabled pdf forms.  The typewriter tool is available but periodically stops allowing changes in the font and font size.  These areas of the Typewriter Tool are greyed out.  You can still add text with the typewriter tool but only with the font and size that was last selected.  The only way to fix this this is to use the "Repair Adobe Reader installation" under the help menu but this almost always (>98%) requires a complete restart of the computer.  This quirk is extremely annoying and no one seems to know what causes it or how to stop it.  Has anyone else had this problem and is there a permanent solution for this problem?

Is the damage actual or only display (are the layers complete according to their previews in the Layers Panel)?
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? (Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved mis usually a good starting point):

  • Photoshop Font Sizes too Small on High Resolution Screen

On my Toshiba Satellite P55T 4K the Photoshop fonts and tool menus are so small that they are very difficult to read.  I have set the UI fonts to the largest size, but they are still way too small. Is there a way to further increase the font and tool menu sizes?

You must have a very high resolution screen, also called HiDpi.
If you have Photoshop CC 2014, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Experimental Features and checkmark "Scale UI 200%"
If you have CC, CS6, or below, there is no way to scale the UI as of yet. There may not be. These products are no longer being updated.
At best I can recommend reducing the resolution down to around 1400 px horizontal. That's not the native resolution and defeats the purpose of having a Hidpi screen.
So only thing left aside from returning the laptop, is to work with a large external monitor, or for $10/monthly, join the Photography Plan and you can use CC 2014 and the 200% UI.

  • Typewriter tool removing itself from toolbar

    Hi everyone,
I'm running Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro and I've updated to 7.1.0 pro. For whatever reason, the Adobe typewriter tool will continuously disappear even after being placed on the toolbar and neither of the enlarge/decrease font size buttons can be used when it is there. Does anyone know what's causing this problem?
    Thanks,
    -Jon

Likely that you activated the clipboard by copying something like an image from Photoshop or Illustrator and did this while Acrobat was open.  If nothing is in your clipboard the option will be dimmed, otherwise it will be colorful and allow you to paste into the PDF.

  • How to change the typewriter's font

    Hello support,
The default font for typewriter is Courier 9 and I would like to change it Times Roman or Ariel.  I have Adobe version 9.5 and Windows 7.

  • Help w/typewriter tool PLEASE!!! :(

I have somehow totally screwed up how my pages look when I open Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
I was using the typewriter tool and saw that it gave me options to have different background colors w/different font colors.  Well when I made the change to show black background w/green font I assumed it would have a little box of black with green font.  But OH NO, it changed the whole page to black and now my typewriter tool types in green.
Well, I thought that this would not keep showing the whole document like that if I closed the document w/out saving the changes.  BUT, that is not what happened AT ALL.  Now every document I open shows the white paper as black and all of the font on the page is now green.  Please see screenshot below:
    http://screencast.com/t/YwkcWSYcb
I have been searching for several hours now thru everything on how to change the typewriter tool back to it's default setting and have not been able to find anywhere I can do that.
Now mind you when I noticed that I could change it to black bkgd w/green font I did have to go thru a whole set up wizard.  But like I said I thougt that 1, it was reversable and 2 that it would only be for that document and 3 that if I didn't save changes to the document I could close the file & program and everything would be back to normal.
Can someone please assist me in getting this issue fixed so that ALL of my documents look normal when I open them.  Meaning white paper with black font.
    Please help!!!
    Cheryl

    Something to try —
Edit > Preferences > select Catagory "Accessibility"
At the top of the pane to the right, untick "Replace Document Colors".

  • Typewriter tool - text color after entry fades from color selected?

I have followed all the other directions for preferences, properties and have sucessfully set those however - after entering any text in any color - say red. or black after the enter button is pressed and i've moved anywhere else in the document - the text color is displays and prints in a faded version. How can this be corrected?

I am also having the same issue with Acrobat X Standard.  When I use the typewriter tool in any new or existing PDF and add text in any color or font face when I mouse out to any part of the document the added text fades as if the opacity was being lowered so it's much lighter color than it should be.
I am using:  Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and have local admin rights.
I've checked the Perferences > General section to ensure I am only using certified Adobe Plugins and forced Acrobat to rewrite the folder in  " %appdata%\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\ " without any resolution.  The new 10.0 folder does not contain the Perferences folder inside either.
I went a step further and renamed all the Acrobat folders in my user profile in Local, LocalLow, and Roaming then ran Repair for Acrobat X Standard, rebooted computer, then open Acrobat back up with the same text fading issue when using the typewriter tool.
I created another new user with local admin rights but the typewriter tool does not fade the text there at all when loses focus.   Short of transfering to that new profile anyone have any other ideas to resolve this issue?
