Typewriter tool has disappeared

Under the tools menu I have drop down box with 7.0 shows nine choices, one of witch is typewriter too.
On another computer,using 8.0, this tool, amongst others, has disappeared. Now only has three choices of tools.
Have removed and reinstalled 8.0 to no avail. Typewriter was there in the past, do no know why it is gone.
Suggestions?

It is still there, but I am not on my machine with AA8 and can't tell you where. With each version of Acrobat, then seem to move the tools around to what are more logical locations (at least I assume that is their thought). Each time, users of past versions have to search for the tools they are used to using. The help menu would likely give you an indication of where the tool went.
For example, they moved the Reduce File Size from the File menu to the Documents menu between AA7 and AA8. The options for Insert Pages and such have been base items in the Document menu for some versions and under Documents>Pages in other versions. Just browse the menus a bit and the tools should show up. You will also likely have an option to show the toolbar that can then be moved to merge in the toolbar at the top of the page.
If you still can't find it by Monday, I will try to look it up on AA8 at work.

I'm sure I've seen this question addressed here before but I cannot make the "Search" work. Every time I search I get "no results" even when I search for something as obvious as PDF.
So please forgive me posting a question that I'm pretty sure has been answered in the past...
When I use the Typewriter tool to type some text, and then I click out of the text box that the Typewriter tool created, the text that I typed disappears. If I double-click on the typewriter text box then the text reappears. Then if I click out, the text disappears. And so on...
How do I make that text stay "viewable" even when I click out of the typewriter text box?

Here is an image where the box with the Typewriter text (the word "test) is "activated", with the comments list showing down below but without the "test" comment in the comment list being highlighted. At the green "plus sign arrow" in the upper-right corner is the word "test".
Now below is an image where the box with the Typewriter text (the word "test") is not "activated" (but you can see the blue box where the word "test" should be showing), with the comments list showing down below, with the "test" comment highlighted, and the "Comments" dropdown menu so that you can see what's black in the dropdown menu.
When I clicked on the "test" comment in the comment list, the word "test" went away in the upper-right corner and the blue box showed up instead.
Am I showing what you need to see or should I show something different?

Highlight tool, typewriter tool, etc. disappeared + gone from menu

I installed Acrobat 9.5.5 Pro as part of the CS4 Suite several years ago. I'm a casual user of Acrobat 9 Pro. I have used the Highlight tool and Typewriter tool on many documents over the years. Many that I have saved on my computer. They have renderable text!
Suddenly the Highlight tool and Typewriter tool, and others, have disappeared + are gone from the Tools + its sub-menus. I'm a pretty savvy computer user. I don't recall that I did anything to change the Tools menu.
When I go to View\Toolbars\More Tools... the the Highlight tool and Typewriter tool don't show there either.
I reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro from the original CD... the tools menu is still missing the Highlight tool and Typewriter tool, and others. (I say "others" because, although I may not have used them, I sense there were previously more tools visible on the Tools + its sub-menus
Can anyone advise me how to recover the Highlight tool and Typewriter tool?

This happens to all PDF's, those created by me or otherwise. The files are not protected.
You pointed me to a link as a possible solution: "To use the Typewriter tool in Reader 9 on a PDF opened in the browser, enable this right on the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Professional." => "Choose Tools > Typewriter > Enable typewriter tool in Adobe Reader." => I don't have a problem with Reader 9. I cannot find this option in my Acrobat 9.5.5 Pro.
Neither the Highlight tool or Typewriter tool exist in the More Tools menu.
I cannot select highlighted text that I created by itself. I can select a block of text that contains highlighted text within the block,however I cannot modify it.
If I try to select a text box that I created with my mouse, it flashes a light blue shade very briefly as I left click on it, but does not actually select the box and allow me to access it.
This is so strange. I can't imagine what dumb thing I may have done to cause this.

MY CUSTOM SHAPE TOOL HAS DISAPPEARED

The tool CUSTOM SHAPE all of a sudden disappeared from the tool bar on the left. (where you can add text, crop, clone, etc.) I uninstalled Photoshop Elements 2.0 and reinstalled it and it's still not there. Can anybody help this grandma before I go into cardiac arrest?

The toolbar item indicated by the red arrow activates the 7 shape tools. Whichever of these tools is active, that icon will show on the toolbar. In my example it is the Rectangle Tool. If you click on the Custom Shape Tool icon in the options bar (blue arrow), the Custom Shape Tool icon will then show on the toolbar.
If the shape tools icon on the toolbar has totally disappeared I have no idea what happened. Try resetting your preferences file (similar to shat VkSharma said). To do this, press and hold Alt-Ctrl-Shift immediately while starting PSE. The timing is critical, you may have to try this several times. A dialog box will pop up with the question "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings file?". Click YES.

Can't find old tabs from a crashed session - session manager tool has disappeared!

I had 3 or 4 browsing sessions that crashed late last year and in January. I went to try and recover them today using the Session Manager tool, but all of the backup sessions in the session folder were gone... There were always a gazillion backups as my Firefox crashes repeatedly, and I usually have at least 100 tabs open at any one time. I know, I know!
All I thought I had to do was to open up the backup sessions! I'm distraught. Lots of research is gone - including all my wedding planning :(
I don't know if this is relevant, but my Session Manager add on had disappeared when I went to look for the backup sessions. I reinstalled it and then tried to find them, but they're not there.
Please help if you can?

It is not possible to tell if a sessionstore.js file has those tabs.<br />
If the file is from a date that you had those tabs open and if the file is not corrupted then it is possible that they have your tabs.
What is the file size of the sessionstore.js files?
If they are below 1MB then you can try to validate the file via an online JSON validate website.

Blur tool has disappeared

I was using my blur tool the other day and today it has vanished. How do I get it back in my tool bar? I am using CS4.

I don't think you can even take it off the bar?
You sure you don't have the Sharpen or Smudge tool showing as selected? Sorry if this seems really basic. Doesn't mean to be.

The "BASIC" section of tools has disappeared from my Development Window. How do I get it to reappear?

Suddenly when I open LR and go to the develop section, there is no "BASIC" section and all the adjustments therein are not accessible. It just goes from the histogram and the crop, etc. tool bar to the "Tone Curve" with no "Basic"... I am on the Creative Cloud and previously all was fine.... How do I get the Basic section back?

Right-click (or the Mac equivalent) on the Tone Curve, or any other Develop module section on the right, and you'll see a list of sections to enable. I only have Basic, Detail, and Camera Calibration enabled at the moment because I'm testing some new custom camera profiles I've just made:

Try the Shape Builder tool. Click and hold until the options appear.

Downloaded Mt Lion Yesterday and my Tool bar has disappeared. I can still access the individual tools but cannot see my header. I used 'help' and did what it suggested. slected 'hide tool bar' and then 'show toolbar'. I also restarted etc.

Good point BDAqua, the Escape key helps get me back to reality in Lion.
While I've only dabbled around a little in Lion since it's release (I upgraded a 10.6 Clone to Lion on one of my FireWire Drives) now I'm currently downloading Mountain Lion (to upgrade a Clone of that Lion Clone) so that now I can continue to move forward in madness.

I sue the batch feature for my job everyday to batch multiple images with a custom action, I need this feature back ASAP

Adobe CC 2014 newest version completely up to date.

The cleaner tool doesn't touch presets, templates or other user data. All it does is flush the installer database to remove blockages. The last time it actualyl deleted any files and folders was with CS3. so whatever you did, you may have hit the wrong button. And while I underrstand your frustration, the download pages states that you are advised to backup your data, regardless...
