Typical report and it's data model!

Hi,
i have a data source which has only three fields, namely user name, date, availability of the user ( it is character string of length 1 just displays A if he is availbale and displays N if he is not availbale on a given date).
now when i want to create cube , it should have at least one key figure, where as in my case no key figures are present in the available three info objects.
is der any chance for me to design this ?

yes,i was talking about that KF only.we have data source (made by FM and ES) which is perfectly working for the three fields which all are characteristics as i told u before!
But since we cannot make any infocube with out KF , i wish to have KF for only making cube!since u suggested to go for any counter which would be acted as appending records for each user in the result set!
now if i want to load this field in the data source, i need to change the logic of FM, which i am not so comfortable and quite lengthy too.
My question to u is whether i can go ahead by simply creating KF and in Transfer rules or update rules include a simple logic of giving numbers for each record rather than changing the code in FM in R/3 ( which i feel is more complex )?

Authorizations for WEBI report based on BPC data model

Hi All,
We are strugelling with setting up authorisations for the reporting on BPC data model.
We created Bex query on top of Multiprovider that consists of BPC cube. The Bex query is source for WEBI output. The authorisations has been set up on BPC data model (cube) in BPC application but they are not passed nor to Bex query nor to Webi. Example: The query is build on top of OPEX BPC data model, this data model is restricted based on Oranizational Unit. My test user is allowed to see only Org Unit = 'Australia' in the OPEX BPC data model, however when I'm running the report I can see absolutely everything.
We are not connecting/using any BI cubes itself for this reporting. We are intrested only in the WEBI report based on BPC data models.
We were trying to use BPC data model (without any extra settings) as the source for BEx report, we were also trying to use virtual BPC data model as the source for Bex transient query - but non of these have helped.
Can you please advise how the authorisations should be set up for WEBI reporting on BPC data models?

Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7) report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area. I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page. The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note : My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form. I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout. (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.

Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.

Building BI Publisher report with "BI Answers" data model

I've installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 and try to create a BI Publisher report using BI Answers as data model. The catalog list of Answers comes up empty, and in the log files I find following error:

option1:
The query should be same @ detail level, only the template has to be different for summary and details.
@runtime, user can choose to see the detail/summary
Disadvantage, if the data is huge,
advantage , only one report.
option2:
create two separate reports summary and details
and create diff data and diff layout and keep it as different report
Advantage, query will perform based on the user run report, summary/detail, so that you can write efficient query.
Dis advantage , two reports query/template to be maintained.

Web Analytics reports and not showing data

Recently we are not seeing Web Analytics data on our sites in our SharePoint 2010 farm. Before we used to see the data. This is what we are seeing now "There is no data available for this report. Here are some possible
reasons: (1) Web Analytics has not been enabled long enough to generate data;
(2) There is insufficient data to generate this report; (3) Data logging
required for this report might not be enabled; (4) Data aggregation might not be
enabled at the level required for this report."
I checked the Web Analytics Service Application and it is started. Web Analytics Data Processing service is started on all servers.
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import Timer job is running every 30 minutes, while Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing job is disabled. Does this job has to be
enabled for the web analytics data to be reported? Are there any other places to check to debug the problem? Appreciate any help.

The timer job Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing needs to be enabled, as it will aggregates and writes the data to the Web Analytics Reporting database.
Please enable this timer job and run the timer job to see how it works.

Prob in joining Query1 and Query2 in Data Model

Hi,
I m facing a prob. in joining Multiple queries
Under data model I've created 2-3 queries which I've to join internally and in my Query1 only 1 bind variable is there, for which i've created a parameter
but for Query2 and Query3 I m going to user one column value of Query1 as parameter.
When i m doing this the Xml formed returns only Query1 value and Query2 and Query3 comes as blank.
Eg.
Query1 : select deptno,dname from dept where deptno=:p_deptno <:p_deptno is a parameter created in parameter list>
Query2 : select empno,ename,mgr from emp where deptno=:deptno <where :deptno, i m expecting to come from Query1>
but it not happening
whereas my Xml comes as display below:

Personally, I have had a hard time doing what you are asking for using netui tags. I have had the same case, and asked the person in my team to just return a collection of value objects and then iterate through it without the repeater tag. To use the checkbox, I have had to use a String[].

I have a program which have to be executed with 64bit data model in order to execute probably.
(for example ... the program is ABC.java)

If I am going to create an instance of the class ABC and execute its methods within a servlet program, will there be any problem ?
Is there any configuration required for the Tomcat in order to access servlet like this ?

will there be any problem ?i was thinking you meant you'd be calling a servlet from a 64-bit program, and in that case I'd think no prob. but if you're talking the other way around, you've got issues. firstly, you cannot call another app from your servlet unless you're doing RMI or something. i think you should clarify EXACTLY what you want to do and we can evaluate better

Where to find logical and/or technical data model?

Hi all,
I am new to SAP and trying to figure out where I can best find information on the logical/technical datamodel, including entity/table and field definitions. I also am looking forminfo on primary keys, foreign keys, relationships between entities/tables, data model overviews/graphs. What places should I go to get this information?
So I am NOT looking for a specific table, I would like to get a general overview of the logical/technical data structure.

Hi Paul,
SAP has several thousands of tables (not including structures, views, etc.) So, an overview look on the whole database would be rather problematic. You can search the http://help.sap.com for the functional info. For the technical one, you can go to SE84 and find the requested info there. I suggest you to explore the technical info concentrating on specific issue, otherwise you will sink in the sea of SAP objects.

BW Reporting and R/3 Data

Hi,
I have deleted some data from a table in R/3.
But when i am quering that Table in BW.
I am still getting records which are deleted from R/3.
Please help me out.

I agree with Sam's post.
If you are reporting on the Basic Cubes then the data will be stored in the BW system and if you are reporting on Remote cube then you wont find any data in the cube, since it is a virtual infoprovider.
Moreover, if you are doing full update then schedule the infopackage once again then it wont show the records which you have deleted from the tables. It will update only the records available in the table and then you can report on that.

Generating annual report and list the data into JTable

Hi, I am stuck with my project. I know that my logic is wrong, but I couldn't figure out the solution. Please help me.
I hava a database, one of the table is the booking information.
I need to generate a report which shows the number of booking for each companies for each month.
I have three data in my database, two different companies(XX and YY), with three different months(Jan, Feb, Jul).
The problem that I encountered is that the data shown is inaccurate. It showed 6 rows of data, and the number of booking is incorrect.

Off hand, it appears perhaps under certain circumstances you need to insert a new record, whereas under other circumstances you need to update (that is to say modify) the record by retrieving it, changing it, then updating it. If you pepper your code with System.out.println() statements, you can see where your problems occur in the code.
I say you may have inserted a record instead of updated due to your statement here. Looks like XX should have been one record rather than two.

Migrating from 11i to R12 - setup reports and diagnostics

Hi,
we are looking at migrating(not upgrading) from 11i to R12 and looking for setup scripts and diagnostics which can tell what org structure has been followed in 11i. Is anybody aware of such scripts and/or diagnostic programs provided by Oracle. We also want to find out the the volume of data etc in various primary tables. Do we have some kind of report for this too ? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Can we dynamically select DataSets in Data Model of a BI Publisher Report?

I have a requirement as below -
For a report 'XX Report1' we have Data Model(concatenated SQL Data Source) with 3 Datasets -
New DataSet1 - WebService Call (WSDL) (Say D1)
New DataSet2 - SQL QueryA (Say D2)
New DataSet3 - SQL QueryB (Say D3)
Layout - 'XXRTFFile.RTF'
And another report 'XX Report2' with Data Model(concatenated SQL Data Source) with 3 Datasets -
New DataSet1 - SQL QueryC (Say D4)
New DataSet2 - SQL QueryA (D2)
New DataSet3 - SQL QueryB (D3)
Layout - 'XXRTFFile.RTF'
Note that DataSet2 and DataSet3 have the same queries in both the reports.
'XX Report1' is called from Siebel frontend through a URL
'XX Report2' is called from Batch Programming later.
The requirement is to come up with a single Report for both of these calls.
So, I thought of merging all the DataSets in to 1 Data Model as D1,D2,D3,D4.
Is there a way for us to select the DataSets from Data Model using the Parameters when Report is run, so that the report picks up D1, D2, D3 if it is called from Siebel frontend and D4,D2,D3 if its run from Batch Programming?

There is some Java examples in the above. I'm guessing the c# code wouldn't be too different.

SQL Developer Data Modeler "Reports" Duplicate Columns in Index- Bug

I am using SQL Data Modeler of SQL Developer - 3.2.20.09
Problem Description:
In the "Indexes" section of report generated for a table, column appear twice.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an Entity in Modeler: COMPANY, Add attributes COMP_ID and COMP_DESC to it, mark COMP_ID as PK
2. Engineer it to Relational Model
3. Go to 'File->Data Modeler->Reports'
4. Select 'Available reports' = 'Table' and press 'Generate Report'
5. View the report.
Indexes shown for the table contains duplicate columns for COMP_ID

I've just tested with SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 and built in Data Modeler 3.1.4.710 with Data Modeler reports 11.2.0.09.87
There is no duplicate columns for COMP_ID in the report.
What are your versions? You can check them from Tools->Preferences->Extensions
