Typing correction defaults 'me' to 'M&E'

I don't know how the iPhone learns typing shortcuts, but I have a really frustrating one. Whenever I type 'me' in an email or text, it auto corrects to 'M&E'. I vaguely recall sending a message with that once a long time ago, but nothing recent. Is there any way to get rid of that?

I've got this same frustrating problem. I have no idea how my iPhone learnt the "M&E" phrase or why it would want to replace a word like "me" that I use so commonly. I have reset the custom dictionary but that hasn't worked and also tried typing "me" and then cancelling the suggestion of "M&E" that the iPhone offers up several times but it refuses to take the hint and stop suggesting it.
I would prefer not just to switch of all suggestions so would appreciate any and all advice that anyone out there can offer before I end up launching my phone out of the nearest window in frustration!!

You can create an App store account without a credit card, however that won't help you with updating your previous purchases. Apps are DRM protected, and tied to the account that was used to originally purchase them. There is no way to overcome this DRM protection or transfer them to another account(Itunes support can if you contact them). If you want to create an App store account without a credit card, follow the directions here, but bear in mind the DRM protection mentioned. If you use this account to download free apps, you will have to use this same account for all future updates:

How to choose correct default apps...

Hi everyone. Simple question...how does one choose the correct default application for say, a short video file that's been emailed to you? None of the highlighted apps seem appropriate, and I don't want to make the mistake of putting default settings in wrong apps. Any help for this? Thanks.

A video file can't be played on a lot of software so your selection of possibilities should be pretty limited. QuickTime seems the most likely.
If you pick the wrong app and it won't open then just click once on the file to highlight it and do "command i" for Get Info (the command key is the one with the Apple logo on it). About two thirds down the info window you'll see something that says "Open this with..." and below that a popup menu of applications to choose from with the current one visible. Click on the popup window and choose another one. You can do this as many times as you want so don't worry about picking the right one the first time.

See if you can manage your Apple ID and change the primary email account to the correct address, as explained here: Change your Apple ID. Then verify the address.

Unable to set correct default text code

To enable accented characters to display properly I need to use Western Latin 1 as the default. When I set this manually in "view" it works but although it is set as the default preference, it always reverts to something else when I open Safari.

That seems to answer part of my problem. I am not
sure how to provide an example but it occurs with
MyYahoo in English, when part of the display is in
French. I get the black diamonds with question marks.
If I manually change to ISO Latin 1, the French text
is correctly displayed. However, when I open Safari
again, the sme problem reoccurs.
This would seem to indicate that the MyYahoo English page has html forcing a different encoding than the French text. You can check what it is by doing View > View Source and looking for the "charset" in the first few lines. I suspect it may be UTF-8. Unless Yahoo lets you set the encoding of your page in its preferences somewhere, I do see anything you can do about it.

Frozen after typing (correct) password. HELP!

Any ideas before I do a hard reset?
As of last night, my Blackberry isn't fully unlocking after I type my password. I type the correct password and hit enter, the password entry section turns dark (or it will stay on the "Enter Password screen" and appear to freeze). (If I type the wrong password it simply prompts me again, so i know I am typing the correct password). This is after multiple battery pulls.
Sometimes after typing the correct password, I can hold down the blackberry button and it will bring up the box that lets me switch to BBM, the browser, the Home Screen, etc and I can "switch" to that program, but there is a sort of frozen shadow of the Enter Password box over what ever app I switch to and I can't use the trackball or keyboard in those apps.
This "frozen box' is preventing me from using any application on my BB!
I CAN receive calls. Barely. I can only make calls if I pull battery and DON'T unlock the phone and go to the Place Call option.
I upgraded to OS 5 over a week ago and things were fine until last night. I can hear my BB when it receives messages (the tones work) or txt etc but can't read anything due to the lock up!!
The only suspect is Google Talk which I installed two days ago and seemed to be hogging resources and draining the battery, however the phone worked fine for about a day with it on. Perhaps Google Talk is launching at startup and hanging things up? I doubt it but this is full disclosure.
I have also, pulled battery and removed the micro-sd card to see if that had any affect -- alas to no avail.
One analogy I can think of is it as if the Windows Explorer is hung but everything else is working.

Try this:
1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.

2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Try UNclicking on the Google Talk app and remove it from the device and let's see if that is the issue.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

Deploy war app with correct default context root

Hi
Am using Weblogic 9.2 Appserver.
When I deploy a war file, I see that the war is exploded in ...domains/domain1/servers/<server-name>/tmp/_WL_user/<application-name>/<random-string>/war/.
I would like that when I deploy the war app, WL pick up the context root from the name of the webarchive.
At present this is not happening, and WL uses as default context root the name of the folder that holds the contents of the exploded archive.
This is the case, even when I go with the no staging option, i.e. specify that the source not be copied and will be available from a specific location. WL still explodes the archive in the above-mentioned dir, and uses "war" as the default context.
How can I get around this ?

Is there a way to turn off the auto type correction? When I am texting and trying to send short notes it auto corrects when I don't want it too.

*This is great news!* I had not done an upgrade because there didn't seem to be any features worth upgrading for... I was sure wrong!!! Man, to be able to turn this frustration off would be sooooo sweet!

Correct default trace

I have three dialog instances with my Portal system EP 7.0 and each instance has 4 server nodes 0,1,2,3 respectively.
For troubleshooting how to know the default trace for the issue is getting stored in which dialog instance/Central instance server node..either in the central instance server nodes or dialog instance server nodes..
how to find it out exactly so that from there I pull out the default trace.

the user works on the server node (DI), not on the CI, so the log you'll have to check is stored on the server node the user is on.
To find out the server node, you can check the saplb_* cookie: (J2EE1234567800)12345678<NODENUMBER>
where nodenumber is: 5x
- 50 server node 0
- 51 server node 1
- 52 server node 2
- and so on.

hard to otype as probglem, some letters no go, others wrong lettter/s. Virus? Mac issue? Mac 6 months old only.Help appreciated.

Since you're still under warranty, take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostic tests to determine if you've a hardware or OS X issue.

MBP keys not typing correct values.

On my MBP I cannot log on due to my keys not working properly. My backspace key works the volume and my enter key adds additional characters to my password. I think my daughter may have pressed the Option key five times but I am not positive. Please advise. Thanks.

Well in case anyone runs into this it can be fixed. The problem is that the motherboard things it is using a keyboard without the number pad. I don't have the link anymore and can't find it but basically you have to create a boot disc that will let you access some of the mtoherbaord settings and change how it recognizes the motherboard.

Using 'defaults delete' command with com.apple.dock

I have been using the "defaults" command in my scripts to add an icon to a user's dock after a new application has been installed. But now, I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to remove an icon from the dock using the command line. For adding an icon, I use:

(take out all the carriage returns and spaces. I had to put them in here for the line to show properly on the post)
This works great for adding an icon. But, I cannot seem to write something similar using "defaults delete"

   If it froze then the code isn't robust against problems. In this case the problem is the web. The command has four spaces in a row in two of the matches. However, the browser smashes that down into a single space. I never understood that aspect of HTML but I know about it and should have considered it. I will replace the spaces with capital Xs. If you replace the Xs with regular spaces, the command should work:

In some sense that is poor coding but in the default syntax of the "defaults" command, the only way to determine depth is by how far something is indented. It would have been far more robust to actually count the number of opening parentheses and keep track of the depth but that would have been more complex to code. If I have time, I'll look into changing that.
   I assume that the reason the command hung is that it went into an infinite loop. I've also added a carat, '^', in front of the first group of four spaces that will keep that from happening. When typed correctly the command works without it but now it will fail without going into an infinite loop.

Flex Remoting - Deeply Nested ArrayCollections not Stongly Typed

I have a Flex 3 app which uses remoting. All works relatively well except for the following...
I have a deeply nested object graph as follows:
( btw: each VO uses [RemoteClass(alias="com.mypackage.xxx")] meta tags )
The main class is called "BrandVO" which contains an ArrayCollection on ProductLineVOs.
each "ProductLineVO" has an ArrayCollection of "ProductVO"s
each "ProductVO" has an ArrayCollection of "CaseVO"s, "UseVO"s, and "IngredientVO"s.
Pseudo Graphically:

The problem then is when expanding each ProductVO, the nested CaseVOs, UseVOs, and IngredientVOs ( although they contain the proper data) are typed generically.

I don't know why all the other VO's get typed correctly but CaseVOs, UseVOs, and IngredientVOs fail to be stongly typed and default to generic Objects.
I have checked the returning remoting call data ( with ServiceCapture ) and the objects coming back do have the correct types. The problem seems to be at the Flex level.
Anyone know why this would happen?
Is there a limit to object grpah depth beyind which objects get typed generically?
I thought perhaps is was because the ProductVO has 3 ArrayCollections ( CaseVOs, UseVOs, and IngredientVOs ), so I tried removing all but CaseVO and had the same problem... CaseVO was typed as Object.
Any help/thoughts would be gratly appreciated.

Sure enough, if I just call for a CaseVO, it still is generically typed as an Object; so your theory that Flex cannot match up the RO and VO seems to be the correct. I have reviewed the code however and can't see any discrepancies. If you have a moment, can you take a look at the following and see if any errors seem evident:
