Typing cursor jumps back to original position after clicking elsewhere

Hello!
My Macbook Air, since Day 1, has had the annoying issue described in the post subject. I'll be working on a document in iWork, (although this behavior pops up in every application) and I'll fix a typo or something in the body of the text. I'll then click back to the end of the document to continue typing. Then, when I start typing, the cursor jumps back to the typo that I fixed, with all my typing going in the wrong place. It happens a lot and it's maddening. I'm past my 90 days for phone support, so I'm hoping somebody here has run into the same issue.
And speaking of the 90 day issue... If I'm covered for a year, but can't talk to anyone for months 4-12, how on earth would I set up a warranty repair? Note, I'm nowhere near an apple store.

You can always take your computer to a AASP, to locate one near you navigate to:
https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
You can do an SMC reset to see if that helps. Also if you purchase AppleCare this will extend the warranty and telephone support to 3 years from the original date of purchase. I would recommend you look into it. You can buy AppleCare directly from Apple or if you do some shopping you can save by buying from Apple resellers like Amazon or LA Computer Company.
_SMC RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
• On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
• Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
_PRAM RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.

  • G530 Keyboard problem, cursor jumps back while typing

This has been going on for a while. I will be typing and the cursor will jump back a bit and it will mess up what im typing. Also my touchpad sort of spazzes out now and then. Any help for this?  Im running Windows 7.

Hi, I have the same issue with my Y430 Laptop. Can you tell me what helped you to fix this issue?

  • Text cursor jumps back several words or lines when delete key is struck

Have read many posts about jumping cursors, apparently both on screen and in text.  This problem relates strickly to text mode, and can occur in iMail, iChat, doing a Google Search in Safari, or literally anywhere I am entering text.  The incident most often occurs when I use the delete key to eliminate a duplicate letter.  For instance i typed "billl"  instead of "bill" and when I struck delete to eliminate the duplicated "l"  the cursor jumped back 10 spaces.   My fingers did not go near the track pad, or magic mouse.  Interesting enough when I typed "billl" in the previous line the cursor jumped to the capital M in iMail.
I just tried to double space to start this line, and the cursor jumped and deleted the " at the beginning of the first "billl"
Sorry to be long winded, but since this is occurring in several apps, it would appear to be an operating system problem, or maybe something with the mouse driver.  Does anybody have any clues?
    Thanks,
    Wes

Have not found a solution,  have spoken to Apple folks they thought it was the mouse, but after going through 2 new mouses I have temporarily given up.   Recented upgraded to Mountain Lion also, and still have the same problem
I have gotten in the habit of just watching what I am typing more closely so things don't get screwed up so much.   Now interesting enough,  I have no problem so far when typing in this box.   I am still trying to collect clues as to where the problem lies.  It does not seem to be consistent.  Most problem is in email, but sometimes it occurs in Pages too   as well as in Messenger.

  • View original media after clicking on video clip icon?

    Hello
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the FCS configuration so that I can view the original media after clicking on video clip icon? Normally this opens proxy files but I would like to change the default behavior.
    thanks
    sj

I don't know if you change the behavior by default.
    But you can for example
    1. Right click the asset and select View - Original Media
    2. Click and drag the asset on top of the Quicktime icon, If the device you're Original Media is located is configure for Edit-In-Place.
    Hope this helps.

  • Resizing Mac partition back to original size after deleting another mac partition (I also have a Bootcamp partition - unrelated to this issue)

    Hello,
I originally had two partitions - Mavericks and Bootcamp. I created another partition to install Yosemite. Then deleted it. Now I have a grey space where the Yosemite partition was. I can extend the mac partition and click 'Apply' in Disk Utility but after a few seconds, it goes back to it's original position ('Grey space' is still there) and Disk Utility doesn't give any error. I just verified on another discussion that one other user is also having the same problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will return your drive to one partition with OS X installed on it. Your Boot Camp partition will be gone, but after adding a third partition you would not be able to boot from Windows. When you use Boot Camp you cannot have more than two partitions on the drive: OS X and Boot Camp Windows.

  • Edge Animate origin won't transform, keeps snapping back to original position.

I am working with an Animate composition in Edge Animate CC on a mac.  When I try to transform the origin and select an item, select the transform tool and drag the origin it keeps snapping back to its original position.  I have tried turning off snaps and changing the origin in the properties panel but it snaps right back no matter how I try to change it.  It is as if it's locked in place.  Any ideas on why it won't change?  The items are not grouped and it is a problem will all of the individual elements that I have tried to change.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thank you.  I have shut it down and restarted the Mac and still have the problem.  I am recreating the animation now in case the file was somehow corrupted.  Even with the new file, I am getting an error that Animate encountered a problem and that I should save and restart Animate.  I think I will uninstall and try reinstalling Animate.  Do I have anything to lose by trying that since it looks like I need to recreate anyway?  Thanks again for your help!

  • Unshrink or revert image back to original size after adding headers.

I add headers to PDF files and it shrinks the document so that the header doesnt overwrite them.
When I remove the headers, is it possible to unshrink or revert the image back to the original size?

Do you know what size it was when placed?
The only way I can find to be able to reset a frame to the size it was when it was created is to set the preference for "When Scaling:" to "Adjust Scaling Percentage" and then resetting to 100% will take you back to the correct size, but not necessarily the original position as this is just another transformation, not a reversion to anything. The BIG downside to this setting, in my opinion, is that if you scale a text frame, the listed font size won't change, nor will stroke weights be listed correctly on scaled objects, which can lead to a lot of head scratching.

  • Satellite A100-165; while typing cursor jumps to other location

    Hi,
When i write with the keyboard sometimes the cursor jumps to another location,
Just right now it jumped to the "subject" input of the thread.
    It's pretty random where it jumps but very annoying, i am running a Toshiba satellite a100 165;
Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

    Hi
    I had the same issue
I didnt notice that I touched the touchpad surface accidently while typing.
This was the reason why the cursor jumped.
You can disable the touchpad using the key combination FN+F9
Furthermore the BIOS update would be advisable too.
    Bye

  • Scrolling jumps back to old position

If a photo or photos are selected, and I scroll up or down through the library, when I stop scrolling, iPhoto jumps back to the old scroll position. Is this supposed to be a feature, or is it a bug? iPhoto7 and earlier did not have this peculiar and counter productive behaviour.
Obviously one 'fix' is to unselect any photos and then scroll, but this makes option selecting more than one photo that is out of immediate view completely impossible.

Just wanted to let everyone know that deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist worked for me for a few minutes, then it started the 'jumping to selected photos' thing again. But not all the time.
    This is very annoying!
Maybe the reason some don't see this is that you need to select a photo, then scroll down just a page or two _with the mouse scroller_, then WAIT and don't click anything else. Bam, it jumps back to the selection.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Edited Recording jumps back to the beginning after crop

I have several recorded Connect meetings that have been lightly edited. The first few seconds have been removed and, on some, a few seconds in the middle have been cropped out when the speaker flubbed a word or two. I am finding that, on the ones with mid-recording crops, the playback jumps back to the begining for a few seconds and them catches up and contimues normally. Is this just a limitation of the Connect editing mechanism (as limited as it is)?
I have tried to leave the beginning alone and just crop out the middle and it still hiccups when it hits that section. Any thoughts on this?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
You can set a timeout to handle what happens when no one
interacts with the computer for a certain period of time. In your
    startMovie script, add
    on startMovie
the timeOutLength = 60*60 --Add a length here. It is in 60ths
of a second, so 1 minute is 60*60
    end
Then, in a movie script, add
    on timeOut
    --Put your script here
    go to frame 1
    end
That should be it. I realize you don't speak English well,
but this should put you in the right direction if you don't
    understand it all.

  • Why do re-named images changed back to original name after external editing

I batched re-named a number of images, but when i took one of the renamed images into PS by via the Aperture external editor the retouched file reverted to its original name when it came back into Aperture..... Why is this so? eg Original name was "STE_2200" then i added "2009" to all files to make this files new name "STE_22002009" but when it came back from PS via external editor it was "STE_2200" again. Why might this happen?

The above answer is correct. Renaming in Aperture after import only changes Aperture's VERSION NAME. The FILE NAME on your hard drive remains unchanged. Officially you can rename file names on import or export, but you can also do it when just moving the photos. For instance, from Managed to Referenced or from one managed location to another managed location, etc. I can give more details if anyone likes.

  • When stopping, the playhead always jumps back to previous position

Is there a way to turn this off? I have tried all combinations of options hiding under the play and stop buttons, the keys commands, cycle and non cycle and it still behaves the same way. It makes it very difficult to edit small details out of very large files.
    Thanks

No, Logic doesn't go back to the previous play position unless you "want it to".
Maybe you can try to trash prefrences or just change these values a few times and see if that helps?
But before you do anything dramatic: Press Option Z ( = open the key command window), and try to assign the Spacebar to "Play or Stop and go to Last Location" - which is the behavior you have. Then assign it it just "Play or Stop".

  • Page back button is disabled after clicking to another web page, causing me to lose the original page.

When I click to follow a link from one of my home pages, the back button becomes disabled. This has the effect of "disappearing" the first page and "stranding" the link I traveled to.
The only work around is enter the site again. Subsequent clicks from the page don't cause it to disappear again.

I would suspect a slightly incompatible addon of causing that to happen.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?<br/> ''A troubleshooting mode.''<br />
You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.''
If not, see this: <br />

  • How do you pull the deleted pictures back to original position?

Recently, I just deleted some of the photo in the iphoto but then I found I want some of them back.
So Is there any easier way to pull those photos( like 3000 to 4000 pics) back?
And if there is any good advise about how to clean the Mac Pro, I would really appreciate for sharing!!!

As i understand it, you can only get photos back to your library by putting the photos into camera roll or use photostream.
I am not sure that iphoto is the best way to manage your pictures from if you have your main library on a Mac or PC. i beleive its more for the Ipad user who keeps the files on the Ipad without transfer. This is ok for the happy snapper but not for an enthusiast or above.
