Typing on 3G iPhone slower than 1st iPhone

Anyone noticed that typing on 3g iPhone has lag now? Even the audible clicks are slower... Not huge issue but noticeable. Wife's new phone same as mine... Anyone else?

Yep - that's it. Seems to be the system software 2.0 - went to Apple Store last night and played with other iPhone 3Gs and they all did the same thing. It's like when you type the processor sometimes is trying to keep up with rapid typing.
Easiest way to see it is to look at an iPhone (either 3G or 1st Gen) running 2.0 software, versus another iPhone running V1.x.x software and type out a good sized text message. You'll notice the typing on the 1.x.x software is smoother and more accurate.
Then delete by holding down the delete key... you'll hear the clicks on the 2.0 software sound sluggish, while the 1.x.x software buzzes right through the characters without missing a beat.
Might be a simple case of giving the 2.0 software a few revisions from Apple to run faster and smoother. But... it's definitely there. I only noticed because I am usually able to FLY through typing on the iPhone, and with the new one I make more mistakes as the clicks don't correspond to actual key presses. You might hit a character key and then a microsecond later it clicks... doesn't sound like much but when hitting 2 or 3 characters a second the lag can make it difficult to type at fast speeds.

    Hello,
If you're in a country where there's an apple shop (unfortunately not mine), go check it and ask the employee about it: he's gonna check your Iphone on a "device"
I've got an iphone 5 and it's working very well with me but I have to admit that its battery lasts (slower) than my Ipad 2.
Still i can help with some tips that may improve your iohone's battery by an hour in addition (hopefully):
    - close all apps by multitasking....
    - do NOT keep the brightness to the max
Believe me you're gonna regret changing your phone to a samsung
Hope i've helped and sorry for my bad english (has english as 3rd language)

  • Is the performance of iOS 6 on iPhone 4 slower than iOS 5?

Is the performance of iOS 6 slower than iOS 5 on iPhone 4 (GSM) ?

I haven't upgraded after a visit to my local Apple store. On playing with the iPhone 5, I found Safari to be very slow so I logged on to their wifi on my 4s running 5.1.1 and loaded the same uncashed webpage on both. iPhone 5 18 seconds and my 4s 8.5!
Hmm, I then tried the same with 2 other 5s, exactly the same. Next I tried a demo 4s running 5.1.1 and it was he same as mine.
Lastly, today I tried a friend's 4s  running ios6 and it was way slower than the iPhone 5s in the Apple store.
Conclusion? Keep away from ios 6 for now.

  • Why is my iPhone 5 S WiFi speed 50% slower than my MacBook Air 2012?

Why is my iPhone 5 S WiFi speed 50% slower than my MacBook Air 2012?

    Hello jagimc,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Wi-Fi disconnects, or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Will the iPhone 3Gs 32 GB slower than the 16 or 8 GB 3Gs models

i just want to know that will the 32 gb iphone 3gs will be slower than the mobels with less storage as i had a n97 32 gb wich was slower than the 16 gb n97 mini

    No.
The iPhone 3GS 16GB and 32GB have the same processor, the same amount of RAM, and the same graphics card.
The only difference with the 3GS is the storage capacity.
The same for the iPhone 3G and with the original iPhone.

  • IPhone 4S 10x slower than iMac

    Good day,
I have iPhone 4S and 27" iMac (Quad i7) on same wifi network, currently both sitting about 6 inches away from Time Capsule on same wifi network (all hardware is up to date with firmware/OS software).  Were both working fine for last couple of days, but today the iPhone is over 10X slower than the iMac.  From SpeedTest.net I'm getting over 30 Mbps down on the iMac, only 1.3 (at best!) from the iPhone.  "4G" on At&t currently getting me 3.5 Mbps down on the iPhone.  Have done hard reboots of phone and Time Capsule, still getting same results.
Anyone have any sugguestions as to what might be going on and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

6" is too close.. wireless stuff should have 2M at least.. having both items so close is not helping at all. Perhaps you are just showing how extreme the problem is and what you are trying to do to fix it.
If you are on lion, first thing is download the tool utility.. not use the toy.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
    Go into the wireless setup.
Change wireless names, short, no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
In advanced change the 5ghz wireless name..
ie TC24ghz and TC5ghz work fine.. GLFifer's TC 2.4ghz is not.
Fix and lock the wireless and channels.
There are exactly 3 non-overlapping wireless channels at 2.4ghz (unless you are in Europe and you can just squeeze in 4), 1, 6, 11 (13 in ETSI).
Lock to one of those.. test.. then try the next one.
You can fix the 5ghz as well although it isn't as serious.
BTW use 5ghz when available as it is much faster.
Iphone is only 2.4ghz. Having just the iphone and not sharing it with imac will help.

  • IPhone 3G operations slower than iPhone 1

While I am browsing the website disappears frequently and the phone goes back to the home screen. Things are also slower than with the iPhone 1. Everything is slower: downloading email, etc. I have synced it recently. iPhone

it's either ATT or Apple and not just your phone. alot of us have the same problem. i'll suggest the same thing i've said to someone else...
if they haven't fixed this by your next billing cycle... tell them they can deduct the $30 data cost from your bill until they've resolved it or you're not paying.
Apple and ATT are making a killing on these phones, and they will try to avoid reembursing for services they are not providing. let them know that if they want to see $$$ they need to provides the services listed under the contract.

    Hi there skmonirul,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, iMessages are taking longer than expected to send on your iPhone 4s. If you aren’t seeing issues with other apps, try restarting your iPhone as shown here:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue persists, try restoring your iPhone as shown in the article below.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
    So long,

  • My iPhone 5 is slower than my iPhone 4s.

My iPhone 5 is slower than my iPhone 4s. I have been using the iPhone 5 for about four days.
    1. I live in a very populated area of Texas, and I know 4G is available in my area, but I always am connected to 3g.
    2. Everything moves slower on the 5 than the 4s.
       A. Siri speaks in a lower pitched voice. She talks slower. She is more robotic sounding than the 4s.
        B. Siri takes a long time to respond. When I command "Text  George", Siri will spin and clock for 40 seconds to a minute befiore she responds with " Okay, I can text George" . When I speak a text it takes a long time to send.
        C. I have a new 2013 Ford that has Microsoft SYnc. My 4s found the bluetooth device immediately, i put in the pin and it sycned great and worked great. When I attempted to sync my new 5, it took a long time for the 5 to conect with my car. After entering the Sync pin, it took a long time to connect.
I called Verizon and the customer service rep states he had a call with the same problem earlier today.
I did erase all settings and re-activated the phone, but it is still slow.
Furthermore, I gave my old 4s to my son, and I still can use it.  I can have the two phones next to each other and the 4s works fine...the 5 is slow, especially with Siri use.
I will try to follow up with more info at a later date as I experience more problems
    Texanlaura

Did you set up your iPhone 5 as new or restore from a backup of your iPhone 4S?
Set it up as new and see if it improves.

  • IPad Air wifi sync a lot slower than iPhone 5s?

I just got my new iPhone 5s yesterday and found out that its wifi syncing to itunes is a lot faster than the iPad Air I bought a few days ago. Actually iPad Air wifi syncing is so much slower than iPhone 5s, almost half speed, just as slow as wifi syncing with my iPhone 4, is this normal?
I've tested another iPad Air of my friend, and found out that his new iPad is as slow as mine. Anyone know WHY? Is there anything / settings we're missing?
I have the latest AirPort Extreme as wifi router.

It's not much help but here is another thread with similar problems.

  • HT1296 When i sync calendars, the info i typed in my iphone calendar does not sync to my computer

When i sync calendars, the info i typed in my iphone calendar does not sync to my computer?  Info from my ical from the computer does sync to my iphone...Am i missing something?

Thanks for the reply but when I do this my default calendar options are 'From My Mac' or 'iCloud'.  If I try to select a calendar I can only select one of them.  So, if I select Calendar I can only get a check mark beside one feature, calendar, home, or work.  I am stumped.  I can add events on the Mac and then will sync to the phone but not the other way.  That sounds like settings to me but I have toggled everything I can think of.

  • Unusual scrolling and typing activity on Iphone after OS6 update

Is anyone having unusual scrolling and typing activity on Iphone after OS6 update. I was typing an email and somehow the cursor jumped up to the "To" part of the email...if i type letters other weird things happen...scrolling is crazy glitchy. I was on facebook typing a post and i saw my sentence appear then it automatically posted even though i was mid second sentence...when i went back to look at it only a few letters of the first sentence were posted. Its being very very odd and I'm not happy. Anyone else having this issue?

Nevermind, turned out it was only doing that when it was plugged into the charger. It was working fine as soon as I unplugged it! How odd.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro slower than my 2006 Macbook

I bought a new Macbook Pro last month and upgraded the RAM to 4 GB and the hard drive to 500 GB. My previous Mac was a mid-2006 Macbook with 2 GB RAM.
I was expecting it to be noticeably faster than my 2006 Macbook (which is still running Tiger/10.4), but it isn't. Two things are particularly noticeable.
    1) Startup time. The 2006 Macbook is 5 or 10 seconds faster starting up.
    2) Safari. Safari is a couple of seconds faster loading identical websites on the 2006 Macbook. I tried updating Safari on the Macbook Pro to the new Safari 4 beta, and that is slightly faster, but still noticeably slower than on my Macbook.
I've tried running the set of Applescripts called "Maintenance" (available on the web) to do all regular maintenance tasks.
I've run software update. Everything is up to date.
Any suggestions of other things I should be checking to try to improve the speed of my Macbook Pro are much appreciated.
I find it really mystifying that performance is so noticeably worse on a brand new, much more powerful machine.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies.
In re the OS, I personally don't see many significant improvements in OS 10.5. Sure, little things here and there, but major power improvements over 10.4 that should cause startup time to be slower? I don't see it. I'm surprised in the design phase Apple's software engineers would allow longer startup time (always one of their biggest selling point over the Windows world) in return for such things as being able to hit the space bar in the finder to open a document quickly. I'm not using Time Machine, for instance, so that shouldn't be slowing down startup... or at least actually loading it in functioning mode shouldn't be slowing things down.
In re Safari, I'm doing as scientific a test as I possibly can here at home. Both computers sitting right next to each other, connected to the same network wirelessly, clicking on the same web link at exactly the same time. My 2006 Macbook is consistently faster at loading the page. Even more, it is significantly faster at loading the page to a "usable" point. For instance, if I click on the main page of the New York Times, the 2006 Macbook will load faster and will let me scroll down much earlier in the load process. On the 2009 MBP, the page shows up a few seconds slower, and it takes another few seconds more before the spinning beach ball stops and I can scroll down on the page. This is true both with Safari 3 and 4 on the MBP.
I just find it weird that a much more powerful computer, with a "new, improved" operating system and twice the amount of RAM, is noticeably more sluggish on these really basic tasks.
My next step is to go to the Apple store and try to compare mine to some other MBPs...
I have issues with some developments at Apple recently. For instance, the gen 2 iPod shuffle strikes me as a perfect design. Does it need to be smaller? Moving the controls to the headset seems really weird to me, much less convenient than the old one. I know that comment is OT, I just am starting to wonder about some decisions at Apple.
Not enough to make me complain seriously... I still vastly prefer Apple to the other options. But that sense I had for years that somebody really smart is paying attention to all these details and getting them right... that's starting to fade away for me. On the other hand, I do not have an iPhone and I think it's clear a lot of Apple's resources are going into the iPhone these days.

  • Wifi Slower than 3g

I have noticed that when I am on wifi the internet is slower than when I am using my data connection. That really shouldn't be the case I would think. I am new to iphone so maybe I need to change a setting or something. Any ideas?

Does your router have settings about QoS. One has to remember WiFi standards actually had to add some stuff after the fact to deal with streaming media as it became more popular. Not all wireless packets are treated the same and not all routers work good with streaming data. Mix that in with an iPhone (yes great processor but still limited to a full bore computer).
    Cellular signals work different.
So, it could just be your router not dealing well with streaming media (QoS quality of service, which is related to standards and packet info when streaming as well as other stuff) mixed with your iPhone. My YouTube works far better when on my WiFi than not.
