Typing on a Circular Path in CS6

I've found lots of tutorials, but all of them leave me in the dust. Most seem to be for versions earlier than CS6, or they omit an important step or mention some function I can't find.
Anyway, can someone tell me what steps to follow in order to the following?:
I'm creating a state seal, with a blue band around the design. Inside the circular blue band, I'd like to type the words "Great Seal of" at the top and "Washington State" at the bottom. But I actually need two separate sets of text, because I don't want "Washington State" to be upside down.
Anyway, how do I do this?
Thanks.

Draw a circular path with the ellipse shape tool, hover your text tool over it - magic.

  • Align and Distribute Objects Evenly around a Circular Path

How do I align objects and distribute evenly on a circular path? Especially if the objects are straight lines and I want them to be placed vertically and evenly around a circle. For example, the hash marks on a speedometer are vertical lines, but distributed evenly in a circular shape. I've gone throught the align/distribute video, but doesn't explain circular paths. I have Adobe CS3 for Windows XP.

I've done this many times and there's a simple trick to it as long as you want an even number of tick marks. Make the line, duplicate it, move one of the lines below the other, and align them horizontally. Group the lines and bring up the Transform dialog. Click on Preview so you can see what you're doing. Enter the number of copies you want and then the angle to rotate the copies. You should see a perfectly arranged circle of lines. Expand Appearance to work with the lines further.
Example: to make the tick marks for a clock face, make the first pair of lines, group them, make 5 copies, and rotate 30 degrees.

  • Motion 5: Circular path

I am new to Motion and am still playing around with it. I know how to modify FCPX themes in Motion 5 and take them back into FCPX but that's about all.
Now, I want to see if I can do this - and this is just an example but knowing how to do this will let me do lots of other things:
I have a transparent png file of a rose. I want to place this rose on a circular path and rotate it. However, I cannot fathom how to do a circular path in Motion OR how to put the rose on the path.

Add behavior>motion path>circle. Depending on what effect you're trying to create, you may add another behavior, snap alignment to motion and/or adjust the position of the anchor point on your PNG.
There are invariably multiple ways to create effects and the above is just one.
The Motion manual is pretty informative and a good reference. To get a good understanding of Motion's fundamentals is important and I suggest that a video tutorial from someone like Ripple Training or Lynda, com…or a written tutorial (like Mark Spencer's) are cost-effective ways to achieve that understanding.
    Good luck.

  • Dual Path Selection CS6?

I have created a dual path using the pen tool in CS6. One path is insdie of the other path. How do I convert both paths into a selction at the same time?

If i understand your question, then can select both paths with the Path Selection Tool.
Then in the tool options bar in the drop-down menu set the path operations to Exclude Overlapping Shapes.
Then you can right click in the paths and choose Make Selection or Cmd (Ctrl) click on the path thumbnail in the paths panel or press
    Cmd (Ctrl)+Enter.

  • Missing clipping path files cs6

I have about 65 complicated photos I have outlined in Photoshop CS6. Opened tif file. outlined file, saved path as outline. saved outline path as a clipping path. Saved the file. Went back to use the files and all but one of my files is missing its clipping path.they are all in the same folder. in years of making and saving clipping paths I have never had this happen. Any Ideas? Its about 8 hours of work and I really don't want to be up all night redoing them. Please help.

I just experienced this problem. I have Photoshop cs6, and I send a Photoshop file with a saved clipping path to 2 different people. When both received the file, the clipping path was gone, missing, deleted. My PSD file still has the clipping path.
I archived the PSD file inside a Gzipped Tarball, and send a link to download it.
    Is this a bug?

  • Stretching type while on a circular path?

I'm wrking with a typeface that I need to stretch horizontally while following a circular shape. I don't want to distort it other than the horizontal stretching. Is there any way to do this?
    Oh and in Illustrator

    Katie,
If you wish to stretch it to a specific total length to match an arc that forms a certain part of the circle, you may:
    1) Determine the length of the arc (you may cut (a copy of) the circle, or you may Add Anchor Points, where the lettering is to end, then (Direct Select and copy the segment and) see the arc length with the help of the Telegraphics PathLength filter or the Info palette (whichever can show it in your version);
    2) Select a set of the live Type and see its length, or drag with the Line Tool from end to end of it, depending on how tight you want it, and see the Type length;
    3) Apply a Horizontal Scale as shown by Larry, using a % value that is 100 times the arc length divided by the Type length;
    4) With that Horizontal Scale, apply the Path Type Tool on the arc/circle.

  • Continuing a path in CS6

I'm using the pen in Illustrator to create a path, but after clicking something else I can't seem to continue the same path.  The new anchors are all creating new paths, which I absolutely do not want.  I have clicked the pen icon and clicked the end anchor to no avail.  I have tried selecting and deselecting the path, I have tried new anchors and old, clicked the path with a plus sign, minus sign, and asterisk and nothing seems to work.  I read somewhere that I should look for the pen with a box and a line through it, but I have yet to see anything like that. I've read the manual, I've watched Adobe TV, and watched tutorials on YouTube.  I have spent upwards of two hours trying to figure out something that I would have preferred take two minutes.  My hope is that I am missing something simple and that someone can enlighten me.

it should be this simple, grab the pen tool (P), move the mouse over an end anchor of an OPEN path (selected or not) until you see a slash sign ( / ), next to the plus ( + ) pen tool cursor icon, click on the anchor and that's it, you're ready to keep adding to the path.

  • Clipping path issue - CS6

    Hi
This is probably a simple fix but is driving me crazy!
I have started a clipping path and since saving the image and opening it now, if I start adding to the path and then select the path and inverse the image - I lose the the part of the image that I have just added the path to - see image.
Any ideas what I have done?
    Thanks

Select the Paths and check the Path Operations.

  • Problems Stroking Path with the pencil cs6

I´ve been making pixel art for a while now and recently I upgraded to cs6.
all was fine till I tried to stroke a circular path with the pencil tool.
The Circles it makes are completely uneven. I cant figure out a way to fix this. Help please.
These are the paths i traced in different sizes
this is the stroked path with a 1 x 1 pixel pencil
as you can see the the bottom and right part of the circles is different from the top left. it is more noticeable on smaller circles.
it also happens with bigger stroke sizes.
    this diddn´t happen in cs5.
    I would appreciate any input.

If a path is in precisely the same location in CS5 and CS6 then strokes made with the Pencil will be almost (or possibly actually) identical in both versions. However, CS6 has an added preference to restrict the positioning of paths with respect to the pixel grid and I think that the positioning of your paths is not as you intended. You'd have got reasonably symmetrical Pencil-stroked circles if the N, E, S and W points of the circular paths lay mid-pixel. These points in your example are lying on pixel boundaries, hence the asymmetrical strokes.
To get CS5's free positioning of paths in CS6, disable Preferences > General > Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid. Then it'll be possible to get in CS6 the result that you got in CS5.

  • Primary External Editor CS6 path incorrect

I am running Cs6 with LR 4.4. When I elect to do an external edit the path to CS6 is incorrect and LR will not open CS 6. I have chosen the correct location for the CS6 exe file as the alternate editor and it works fine. How can I correct the default path to CS6?

Victoria, Thanks for the follow-up and the excellent instructions on how to correct my problem. I follwed your clear instructions and it corrected the errors I had in my registry.

  • Unable to choose Photoshop CS6 as default app for jpegs, Win7

Suddenly I'm unable to choose Photoshop CS6 as the default "Open with" app in Win7 when I'm attempting to open jpegs.
I updated Adobe Application Manager and it says Photoshop CS6 is installed and I'm able to open Photoshop CS6 without getting the "trial version" error any more -- although that was a  problem until I updated AAM.
    Len Cook

I know exactly the problem you are having and exactly how to fix it! (For Windows 7 and possibly others) I spent an hour trying to figure it out, and it is all because of bad registry values.
    Cause:
First off, it is caused by uninstalling a previous version of Photoshop and then installing CS6. (But lingering folders and registry values still remain)
    Symptoms:
When you try to change a file type association with the Open With dialogue, Photoshop CS6 never appears! Choosing "Other Programs" does not bring up Photoshop CS6, and Browsing will not add it to the list!
    Workaround: (REAL FIX)
    Click on the Start button.
Select the search programs and files. (You may need to enable this search field if you have it disabled.)
Type regedit (regedit.exe will appear only after typing regedit completely)
    Select regedit.exe.
Click yes to allow access to it.
Be very careful with the following steps as editing the registry is dangerous!!
    Navigaate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command
    Double click on Default.
In the value data section you may notice a path to the previous application that doesn't exist anymore (root of problem)
Change it to the path of CS6 folder but keep the extra characters beyond Photoshop.exe
Hit ok. Then close out of this window.
NOW Photoshop CS6 will appear in the list! Enjoy!

  • Placing text on a circlular path - help please!

I am trying to create a circle path and then place some text on it.
Easy to do in PhotoShop - Eliptical path tool, with the shift down, gives
you a nice circular path, then click on the top center with the type tool and
    type away.
But, if you try executing the code generated by the Script Listener you get
a path that is incomplete, and the text is invisible.  It is there (I think) because
the layer name is changed to the text string that was typed, but you can't see it.
Changing its color, size, font, etc. will still not show it.
I am hoping someone has a sample script that is a little shorter and more
understandable than what Script Listner creates - 1300+ lines long - that I can
modify with my text, text color, font, and pathitem points to achieve this.
I have also tried duplicating and modifying a text layer with the circle/text already in it.
For some reason, I can't get to the SubPathInfo; where   EntireSubPath
(the array that needs to be modified) supposedly is.  This approach would
    be fine too...
    I am using CS3 / Visual Basic
thank you very much!  I have already missed my deadline on this and really
appreciate any ideas or tips anyone can give me!

  • Add background colour to text path?

    Hello,
I have a circular path on which I'm typing text. I have 2 questions:
    1) How can I 'extend' the typing area of the circle to allow me to type on various points of the path? I've adjusted the 'markers' using the direct selection tool, but when I press tab or space, the original text moves
    2) Is it possible to colour the background of text, in such a path?
I've attatched a screenshot, if you need more, please let me know. As you can see, at the top of the path is one blue line where the text starts, however I want to type in 3 places.
    Thank you

Look if you keep adding criteria no one willb.e able to give you any real help and you have to follow instructions you cannot interpret the steps to try and simplify any thing.
You clearly have two pths with different radii so it was supposed be on path. But besides that the methd I suggested is not going to work with so may cities or other text items.
Here this what you do but follow the intructions.
    1. You create your cicle path and copy and paste in front, for past in front the keyboard short cut is command f or control f depending on your platform.
    2. You mke the top one into a text path and paste the spces as per the video I posted.
    3. You type your cities
    4. Lock the text path
    5. give the path below the text path a stroke to the desired weight
    6. then scale path with the stroke so that the text is aligned to the center of the stroke
    7. then switch to the scissor tool and cut the path wityh the stroke so you can delete the unwanted portions
    You get this
0r this if you change the colors which can bee done after cutting the path.
You should know this is rather basic and probably why no one else came forward you should look at some tutorials on Adobe TV and get a better feel for the program.

  • About opening photoshop cs6 Beta trial in mac

Hi, I have a mac OS X processor 1.83 GhZ intel core Duo. I downloaded the adobe photoshop CS6 bea trail version. when i open the application it says you can't open the application adobe photoshop because it is not supported on this type of mac. Could anyone of you help please

Be glad to if I could, but  .. I typed a question in the Adobe CS6 forum and it gave me no way to 'POST.'   I AM logged in but 'Reply' seems to be my only access.
I had understood that I had been moved to some more appropriate place .. where?
I just went throught the whole Download process again after talking at some length with an Apple Senior adviser who are very reluctant to discuss any 3rd party apps.
He was very helpful in using all the techniques to clear up any OS problems, so ..?We checked Utilities>Disk Permissions and Disk Rpair .. all OK.  Also Safe Mode,Reset, etc.
Lightroom 4.1 and CS5.5 work  just fine.
The pop-up about the Javal app came up again and installed; then, when selecting Photoshop CS6.app it runs, and runs, and runs and eventually pops up the error Message 16.
I have made numerous  screen shots which I keep weeding out to just the most recent.
