Typing on PDF document (iPad)

does anyone know if I can type a document (PDF ) on Adobe reader . I have an apple iPad?.

Are you trying to add any comment to the document, if yes then you can.
But if you want to edit the content of document then that's not possible.
Thanks,

  • Adobe X Pro editing/ typing in PDF document

As I begin to edit a PDF document, while typing, the text or screen seems to refresh for long enough intervals (few seconds) that it is making it very difficult
to work. Operating system is Windows XP SP2.

    Really? No one?

  • Annotations in a protected PDF document - ipad

I have a protected PDF document - Not password protected.
The document was emailed, I have saved and opened using the Adobe Reader app on my ipad.
I am unable to make comments or annotations to the document as the "cloud" is grey.
The creator of the document informs me that the document was saved with the capablity of making comments but cannot be edited.
How do I go about unprotecting the document so I can make comments/notes.
The Ipad is the new version and Adobe Reader is version 10.3.0
    Thanks

Can you please share the document with us at [email protected]?
The Adobe Reader for iPad/iPhone is restrictive about modifying PDF's with signatures or certification applied. This is because we don't have the capability to re-sign or recertify, nor do we have the capability to make sure we only overwrite areas that will not "break" the existing signature. If you can share the document, I should be able to tell you why we're preventing this particular document from being edited. I suspect that it's the protection - we may disallow editing for all protected documents.

  • I need to be able to access a PDF document on my ipad when I am offline and save it to print later when I am connected to wi-fi. I can not figure out how to do this (to be accessible offline and saved). Please help.

I type notes between therapy sessions and frequently do this in my car without wifi available.  I need a way to access PDF files that I can type in and save and be able to AirPrint from when I am connected to wifi at a later time,  I currently have these documents saved in Dropbox and open them on my ipad or iPhone in Adobe Reader but don't have a way to save and use offline. I tried iBooks but it doesn't allow me to edit.  I need specifics on how to do this please. I bought an ipad to make my mobile work easier but am still using my iPhone for everything because I can't figure how to easily access and edit PDF documents offline. Thanks in advance.

search the app store for PDF Writer. I've found a lot that will convert documents to PDF, but none yet that will write within the PDF. One thing you want to avoid are cloud based apps. Any of them that talk about editing on the cloud, etc, aren't going to be as standalone as you want.
It's possible, if you can take your template PDF, turn it into a word document that you can edit, you can then convert that to PDF...kinda a workaround way to do what you want. And apps that convert to PDF are much easier to find

  • How do I display PDF document as single pages on iPad?

    Hi,
I have a company catalogue in PDF format, 20 pages long. We use Issuu to allow customer to view the catalogue on their PCs and mobile devices.
In Issuu you can customise the embed widget to show single pages, and this works fine when viewing the catalogue on a PC. The problem arises when trying to view the catalogue on an iPad. It appears that the iPad automatically sets the PDF to view as a Facing Pages document. It doesn't matter if I'm using Safari, or the Atomic browser we have installed (so that we can hide the URL bar).
I've created the document in inDesign as a single page document but the iPad still merges pages 2-3, 4-5, 6-7 etc.
The iPads will be used in our retail stores so it's important that the set up and navigation is as simple as possible. The catalogue is placed within an iFrame on the page so that I can but a navigational banner at the top that easily takes customers back to the main menu page. It's important that the catalogue opens within the page. The Issuu embed widget for Tumblr, etc only creates a preview of the catalogue which then opens in a separate tab, which unfortunately will not be suitable to our needs.
You can view the page here: http://www.eurocollections.com/block/catalogue.html
I've tried a number of different options, I've written to Issuu but they were unable to help as it only seems to be an iPad-related problem.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

The PDF viewers on the iPad do not understand customised widgets.  They understand the PDF format, exactly as it was designed by Adobe.  Instead of trying to use a custom solution, use the features which are provided by the PDF format.  Custom solutions work only for the situations that the company that wrote the custom solution wants them to work and they are a corruption of the normal way PDFs are used.
In your situation I'd remove all dependency on any custom widgets from your PDF document.  Instead you can use links which allow you to click on a piece of text or an image in the PDF and the PDF software will take you to a different page.  This is part of the PDF standard and will work on all software capable of showing PDFs.  It is all your users should need to navigate from one part of your catalogue to another.  Whatever software you're using to create your PDF should give instructions on how to create links in your PDF document.
Similarly your use of iFrames is a little stange.  If your material is on a web site, put it in web pages where you can use all the features web pages give you, including blue-underlined links to other pages.  If, instead, your material is in a PDF then put all the navigation in the PDF.  Don't try to depend on a strange interaction between the PDF and your web pages.

  • Can I open embedded PDF documents in a PDF file on an iPad or Android?

Not sure if first post got through, the forum required me to change password ...
So I'm trying to open embedded PDF documents in a "parent" PDF document on an iPad.
On a PC the file opens fine.
On an iPad 2 with Adobe's Reader the same file says it's corrupted.
On PDF Pro the file opens, I can see the listing of embedded PDF documents but when I click on them nothing happens.
Is there a way for a PDF file with embedded hyperlinked PDF documents to be displayed on an iPad or Android?

pages on the iOS has access only to the camera roll to embedd pictures , but no external files.
Content from other documents like pdf can be copied and pasted by using Adobe Reader for iOS or the iBooks.app, open the pdf , copy text , then go to pages.app and paste text into the document there.

  • I have an issue with some PDF documents   some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying on iPhones, iPad 2s

    Hi,
I have an issue with some PDF documents & some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying properly on iPhones, iPad 2s & new iPads?
PDF docs - areas of the doc only show as grey splotches regardles of viewer
    MS Word Docs -
inserted graphics don't display at all,
tables & lists especially with borders are broken &
tables & lists missing the borders &
tables & lists missing the 1st 1-2 lines of the lists/tables.
This is replicated on iPhone 4s, iPhone 4Ss, iPad 2s, iPad new (x2)
It certainly happens in iOS 5.1.1 & iOS 5.1
We believe it all worked aok in iOS 5.0.1(?) & prior
There is no problems reading/seeing these PDF & Word docs on anything other than iDevices.
This is rather critical for us & if not quickly fixed/rectified will prevent us from further purchases of these devices
Rolling back to iOS 5.0.1 or prior I believe isn't possible because of the BaseBand update(?) & isn't much of an option because of the quite noticeable Battery/Charging/WiFi improvements in 5.1 & 5.1.1

    Hi,
I logged a call with AppleCare & have since had explained why this occurs (some time ago)
I'll try to explain what was indicated to me.
iOS has a limited Font Set & this affects what PDFs can display. You need to use iOS supported fonts in your PDFs to see/read them properly
These supported fonts are indicated here => http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4980
Regards MS office docs, iOS doesn't have much of an API to work with MS Office documents at all so is stuck with 3rd Party Apps to try to do it.
Unfortunately Mail in/on iOS uses the API to attempt to open/use MS Office attachments unless you tell it to use an App to open the attachment.
I have had success opening & reading MS office docs now with CloudOn, but find it slow & very awkward to use.
Not too sure if this helps others, but at least it explains why this is occurring

  • Looking for help for sharing pdf files with ipad from mac.  Pages only recognizes text.  What app should I use for file sharing pdf documents?

Looking for advice on how to share pdf files with iPad from Mac.   Pages seems to only recognize text.   What app is recommended for pdf documents?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
If I understand your question, you want to read pdfs on your iPad, not create or edit.
Drag pdf files to the iPad icon in Finder while connected to your computer via the USB cable.
They will show up in the iBooks application
(If you don't already have iBooks, it's a free download from the App Store.)
Once installed, there are two buttons at the top left of the Bookshelf.
One is Books, the other is Collections.
Tap Collections, and you'll see Books and PDFs.
    Tap PDFs and you're there.

  • Downloading pdf on iPad mini, opening in Adobe reader, won't open, saying this is not a valid pdf document

    Hi
I am trying to open a pdf document which is a course qualification handbook.
I have been able to open other pdf documents in the adobe reader app, any suggestions how I can open the above document.
I am using an IPad mini.
    Thankyou

Is the course qualification handbook "protected" in any way?  For example, to limit the access to the content, a protected PDF document may prompt you to enter user name and password or use some proprietary technology to obscure the content.
Adobe Reader mobile products (Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support eBooks, protected PDFs, etc.
Would you try opening the course qualification handbook in the desktop version of Adobe Reader on your Windows or Mac computer and see what happens?

The application auto-saves your input when you close the document.  If you left the document, as you state, the notes/comments should have been saved and should have been visible the next time you opened the document with the Mobile Reader (note that if you are opening the document with another app such as Apple's built in PDF Viewer, things like notes/comments may not be visible).  Also note that if you are doing an Open In... from another app (like Dropbox), the version of the document in Dropbox does not update; only the version of the document in the Mobile Reader is updated.
