Typing slow to register
Has anyone else noticed a slow down in the rate letters appear as you type? Since the last update, my Powerbook has been VERY slow. It's actually not so much the regular speed, but when I go from one field to another it takes time and often actually mixes up the order of the letters typed. This is especially noticeable when using Spotlight as a launcher. iTunes is typed correctly, but appears as Tuines. Word is often oWrd. Things of that nature. I do type fast but it has never been a problem until very recently.
Anyone else have this or know how to remedy it?

I would first try a Safe Boot. This does several things including delete the dynamic loader shared cache.

Cisco Jabber for Mac 9.2.1: slow to register with CUCM
Hi,
We have this specific problem on our Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 client only: the client takes 60 to 70 seconds to connect to CUCM (running 8.6.2) when it starts.
After Jabber registers with CUCM, there is no issue, it's just very slow to register.
Anybody getting the same behaviour? We have no such issue on previous versions of Jabber for Mac version 8 or Jabber for Windows version 9.

FabriceFor those interested, I have the answer to my own question: if one of your configured DNS servers is not responding, Jabber 9.2.1 will delay registration to the phone services. This behaviour is seen only in this specifc version of Jabber, hopefully it will be fixed in the next release. Watch out if one of your DNS server goes offilne.

I just updated to 10.6.3 and now my mouse stops responding every once in a while and the typing slows way down. It has happened 4-5 times today. If I wait long enough, it comes back, or if I close my laptop (sleep) and then open again it goes away. Very annoying. 2 Page doc = very slow, almost unworkable when typing Slow slow slow...
Did some research, latest was posted in FEB.
What is the deal with this? The doc has some images, but they are small jpegs. It should NOT have a 1200 millisecond, or 1.2 second delay when typing.
Its becoming very difficult to work with.
Any ideas?You're not the only one with this problem. There is a long discussion, with some proposed solutions, in this thread (and searching for "slow" in the Pages forum will bring up other threads as well).

Gmail on Safari typing "slow", odd cursor in middle of character
Ever since Mavericks, I've noticed that composing email in the gmail interface (technically google apps) in Safari has moments of extreme slowness… when typing, the characters are somwhat "behind" what your'e typing. Not like you watch it catch up, but the delay is noticable. And annoying.
I also noticed that, not necessarily at the same time, I'll see the curser in the middle of the current character, instead of after it, like this:
I just discovered that if I tap the right arrow key, the cursor will go where it belongs, but this does not introduce an extra space in the message. Really weird.
I just installed fresh new OS on a new SSHD, and the problem is still there, so I guess it's a bug, but I hadn't seen it reported elsewhere. Anyone seen this, or hopefully know a solution?

Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem. -

Mail typing slow after Yosemite
After upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing slow typing response in Mac Mail. Sometimes, Mail is one or two words behind my typing. I have to stop and let it catch up occasionally.
I have call Applecare three times. They had me repair permissions and repair my disk in Disk Utilities. That didn't help. They also did the repair in safe mode. Likewise, that didn't help.

I've had my iPhone 3G for 5 days now, and I've noticed that sometimes when I'm typing a text message it is very slow to respond sometimes (for example; I push a letter and it does not appear for a couple of seconds). It didn't do this when I first started using it, but I am noticing it more and more now. The typing is fine for other applications, it only does this with SMS. Can anyone help? Thank you.
the easiest fix that i have found is when you notice slow typing just hit the home button and go back in, and it should have normal response again

Since deleting a section of my essay about 100 words of 1300, the typing has been laging significantly, im running OSX 10.9.2 2010 iMac 3.06 I3 8Gb Ram, 77GB free of a 500GB hard drive. Only have 3 programs running, safari, pages and endnote.
CPU spikes to about 60-80% in 2 of the '4' cores

ThanksThe problem is most probably software specific. I am running OSX 10.9.2 on a rMBP with 16gb or Ram, half a TB of free storage and a 2.6 i7 and typing in pages lags a lot! I was on the phone with apple support UK for over an hour yesterday and they did not have a solution for me but at least they are looking into it. The program was not sucking too much memory and the rest of the computer was running smoothly. The only problem was with typing in pages. The length of the document didn't seem to have a correlation, as opening a new document and filling it with dummy text of up to 3000 words did not cause it to lag, but rather the amount of time I've spent on a document. The technician asked me to disconnect pages from icloud as he thought it could be connected with the constant updating, but this didn't help either. We've tried creating a new user account, testing the document in safe boot, completely removing pages from the system and then reinstalling, removing any plug ins like Endnote's plugin etc but NOTHING helped. And the weird thing is that: it's only typing that's lagging, scrolling, adding graphics, copy pasting and ANY other function would work smoothly... unless you tried to type. Also, the exact same document would have no problem being edited in pages for icloud.
I am surprised as to why there aren't any more people facing this problem allready.

Firefox 6 - Typing Slows to unusable speed in many sites including gmail
Wasn't a problem with Firefoox 3, upgraded to 5 and now many sites including gmail, the typing is reduced to unusable speeds with big pauses. Throughout. I've done complete re-install from scratch and it's still a problem. If I start in safe mode it works fine. I have not added any addins, this is virgin install. It's annoying because it's now unusable so I' m back to hated explorer instead.
Just updated to FF 7 and tried a new blank profile too. Same problem. The one inconsistency is that if I start in safe mode it's not a problem. So something happens in safe mode other than what happens in a blank profile or if I try and restart with addons or anything disabled.

Slow Typing, Slow Internet, etc

I've recently had a few problems with my phone that I'm not sure what the problem is. First, is a lot of the time when I go to type in a text message, or in an app, it is very very slow. The keyboard has to catch up with me, and the letters I type take about 3 seconds per keystroke to actually show up. I've rebooted my phone several times, and it doesn't seem to help.
Second, it seems to have started only after upgrading to 2.x software, but the internet is extremely slow, and actually most of the time even when I have full signal strength, it will give me an error saying I have no network connection (that is, after trying to load a simple page for 5 minutes).
I've also had a problem (not sure if this is a piece of the puzzle) where when I tried to sync apps, it would say a strange error message, and give what looked like a hardware address. I went to a genius for that issue, and they said to just delete the app from both the phone and the computer and redownload it, which works but of course seems to ignore the underlying hardware issue that seems to be there.
If anyone can help as to what I should do with this, it would be much appreciated.Sounds like maybe one of the apps on your phone is causing problems. Try deleting all applications off your phone (make sure you have a backup, as you'll lose settings and saved progress in games and such), and then restarting the phone and seeing whether it's still exhibiting that behavior.
If it is, you might try doing a full restore of the phone through iTunes, but NOT restoring the backup. I know this is a pain, as you have to re-enter all of your settings and such, but corrupted files on the phone which are copied back on after a restore just break the phone again. Sometimes, you just need to start fresh! -
My iphone 4 is very slow sine the IOS upgrade. What can I do to bring it back to the way it was before the upgrade. It's turtle speed now!
I forgot to mention earlier: if you find that on-screen typing is very slow to register then you might try logging out of iCloud and iTunes and the App Store in Settings/iCloud/[Delete Account] and Settings/iTunes and App Store/Apple ID [Sign Out]. Then reset the phone (press sleep/wake and home buttons together and hold until Apple logo appears), and then log back into iCloud and iTunes and the App Store in Settings again.

Yosemite Very Slow, Spotlight and Mail not working.
Yosemite has brought my iMac mid-2010 to a crawl.
Try to delete mail in browser and instead of deleting, just jumps to a different email and selects it. Also, spotlight's not doing anything. I type the name and it just sits there. No movement, no acknowledgement.

Homehub 4 slower than Homehub 2
Hi, I have just had my new hub4 and i am having trouble with the speeds being very slow, its registering speeds of less than 1mps! via wireless and ethernet on several pc's and tablets, my hub2 is registering speeds around 12mps as it always has. Same location, same connection wires and filter box (I did try new ones of each of those and it was still same speed). i have now gone back to my hub2, however is this a setup issue or a faulty hub issue?

Text Editor over 1500 lines of text extremely slow!
Has anyone else noticed that if you start a new as file that
you can put 'test' from left to right about 50 times and then copy
and paste that line over 1500 lines and try to type that it can
only type like 1 letter a second? I thought that it was trying to
reference variables and verifying code but I ended up debugging it
and just copying the word 'test' over and over again and noticed
that anything over about 1500 lines that it starts eaten up ALL my
processor and can only type a little over a letter / sec.
Originally I noticed when I was coding the main form in flex at its
about 3300 lines of code, I try to modify a couple values and its
almost an all night event to change one function around a little
bit.
What Im trying to get at is asking if anyone
1. Has had this issue and
2. How can I fix this issue by disabling or fixing something?
If anyone could help me, I would be SO happy =D I have almost
now started using notepad, then copying and pasting it into my
editor cause it takes SO long to just type it out without any
intellesence or anything. ThanksHi guys...
I started running into this same issue the past couple of
days. I've had FB 2.01 running fine for over 8 months (with the
exception of installing the FB 3 Beta 3 which screwed everything up
and forced me to completely uninstall all Adobe products and
'clean' up and re-install everything..that was fun<8-)
I'm working on a couple of projects for customers and getting
ready to go live with one next week, so I was panicking big time...
I decided to take the dog for a walk and while I was out, it
occured to me that this behavior (the slow typing, slow everything)
was only in one project (only 200 lines or so) and I was able to
close that project and open bigger projects (500 lines or so) and
they worked fine.
Likewise, editing XML files in the same project worked ok...
it was just the actionscipt in Script blocks in the MXML
documents...
so, I copied out my code from the problem file to Notepad,
deleted the project, created a new folder and a new project and
pasted in the code... viola... back to normal
So, I guess something about that project got corrupted or
something
I make my living with this stuff... so its pretty upsetting
to have to deal with issues like this... and its pretty much my
worst nightmare realized, remembering when I first heard that Adobe
was taking over Macromedia... on the other hand, i heard Adobe just
passed the 3 (or 4) billion dollar mark in sales for the first
time... which just gives me a warm feeling all over (if you know
what I mean<;-)
