This can't get any more basic!!!
New document, typing on keyboard yields only ding sound and no text appears in the document!!! ***????

You probably have opened a blank Layout mode template which has no default text area.
There are 2 kinds of templates, Word Processing templates which flow from page to page and which you can just type into, and Layout templates which require you to create text boxes to type into.
See the sidebar in the Template Chooser to see which is which.

Right clicking on open tab yields only 'cut and paste' option.

My (new) computer has some sort of touch control that randomly changes font size. MSM has a tool icon that restores font size, Firefox doesn't. Right clicking on empty tab yields only the cut and paste option.

If the zoom level changes on a page, you can reset it to the default using either:
* Ctrl+0 (that's a zero)
* View menu > Zoom > Reset

On a conventional mouse, you can zoom text by holding down the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel (forward=larger, backward=smaller). I'm not sure how your touch device works, but if it changes the zoom level without having to hold down Ctrl or another key, that's not very convenient.
Now, regarding the empty tab problem, how are you opening the tab? Have you noticed problems with your right-click context menus in other situations?

Average only numbers and not text

I want to average a series of numbers A10:A20 which contain mixed of numbers and letters but only average the numbers. Each cell only has letters or numbers and never both.
I have tried
averageif(A10:A20, "<1", A10:A20)
however that does not work. Any suggestions??

What need for your 'complex' formula.
The short and simple
=AVERAGE(A10:A20)
does the trick !

After Software Update Only Logo and Spinning Wheel Appear

After downloading latest versions of Safari, OSX, and iTunes suggested via software update, a message stating that not all software (iTunes) instatlled. Restart resulted in the Apple logo and spinning wheel and never continued to completion. A hardware test using supplied disc resulted in a pass for tests run. I cannot boot the software restore disc when restarting and holding down C key. Anyone experience something similar? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Try a Safe mode boot (hold Shift while booting).
Safe mode boots take longer, so be patient.
If successful, at the login window, click Restart, and allow a normal boot.

No Text Appears in Book (Preview and in Book)

I just receive a Medium Soft Cover book from Apple and to my surprise there was no text present. I tried printing to pdf or previewing within iphoto and no text appears as well. My font sizes are all small. I even created a new book with a couple photos and used the default text - still no text in preview.
Someone suggested ditching the preferences file for iphoto as well as the cache. My fear in doing that is that the whole iphoto library gets reset...is there another way?

Go to your User/Library/Caches folder and look for a folder titled iPhoto. Drag it to the Trash. I will get recreated the next time iPhoto needs to create a cache file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Text appears in the FIND bar rather than website fields. How can I fix this?

When I type text into a search box in a website such as Google, ebay or Amazon, the text does not appear in the field; instead the firefox FIND bar automatically pops up and the text appears in it instead. How can I prevent this from happening?

Usually if you click in the field, Firefox will interpret the typing correctly.
Could you check to see whether you have this feature turned and, if you do, turn it off:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General mini-tab > "Search for text when I start typing"
If that was on and you turn it off, does that fix the problem?
If not, could you try the same pages in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?

How to make a button click make text appear elsewhere on the screen

I have a map of the US and each state has a rollover that changes the color of the state...what i am trying to figure out is how to click on the state and have text appear to the side of the US map and have that text stay up until the user clicks on another state. Good... keep working at it... I was already preparing the following for you, but if you pursue your own solution you will learn more and become more comfortable with working with Flash.
If you want to look at what I was going to offer to possibly streamline what you end up with, or just have trouble, here it is...
Select one of your states and give it an instance name in the properties panel... let's say you pick Utah and you name the instance "utah" For example sake, let's say you also do the same for Ohio (naming it "ohio").
Create a dynamic textfield where you want the text to be displayed and assign it an instance name, let's say you name it... "stateInfo"
Create a new layer for actionscript so that you can assign some code for teh states. In that layer, in the frame where the states are, select the empty keyframe, open the Actions panel, and place all of the following code there...

Have you tried rebooting the phone? Also maybe removing and reinstalling the sim card? Make sure your not in airplane mode or check under settings -- general --cellular and see whats turned on or off.

While printing any pdf file it will print the visible text only. To overcome this, the form needs to be dynamic so that it expands in layout while entering more data. Usually dynamic forms are developed by Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

For last one week, I have been trying in vain to copy and paste a document typed in the Epic Write on a Word 2007 format, so that I can retrieve or modify it anytime without depending on the Internet connection. Whenever, I paste on a webpage, it cannot be edited and when I transfer that on a Word page, only words & figures in English appear and the rest of the text is displayed in blank square boxes.
How I can overcome this problem?

How can I show only text edits and not text formatting when using print comments summary?

Acrobat 9.3.0 for Mac.
Here is the scenario: I used the Compare command to see the changes between 2 PDFs. The resulting file some edits are inserts and some are deletions. I want to print a comments summary only showing the text edits. In the Compare Option pane, I select Text and deselect Images, Annotations, Formatting, Headers/Footers, and Backgrounds. Now on the screen I see inserts are highlighted in blue and deletions are marked with sort of a caret and vertical bar symbol. So all looks good at this point. However, when I show the Comments List, I see addtional comments that indicate "Replace - The following text attributes were changed: fill color." Those comments do not appear in the page view unless I check the Formatting check box to show them. With Formatting unchecked, I print a comments summary and all of the "Replace - Fill Color" comments" appear on the resulting comments summary.
I only want to show text edits, not text formatting changes. So questions are:
1. Why, when the Formatting checkbox is unchecked, do the text formatting comments still appear in the comments list when they do not appear on the page display.
2. How can I print only the text content edits and not show the text formatting changes when using Print Comments Summary.

You can set ExecuteWithParams as default activity in the task flow then method activity to return total no of rows passing to Router activity if your method has value 0 then call Create insert operation else do directly to page.
Following idea could be your task flow
Execute With param (default) > SetCurrentRowWithKey > GetTotalNoOfRows (VOImpl Method)

1. If pageFlowScope outcome is 0 then call CreateInsert > MyPage
2. if pageFlowScope outcome > 0 then MyPage

Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.
