Typo in Oracle 9i Docs?  SUNW2x?

"Oracle 9i Release notes Release 1 (9.0.1) Release notes for Sun SPARC Solaris" (A90355_02) includes in the list of required OS packages a package SUNW2x that my system didn't have. I checked with Sun and couldn't find it. Sun support found for me a bunch of queries on the subject however. Many before me have been trying to figure out what SUNW2x is. There is, however, a standard Solaris package SUNWtoox. Do you think that the reference to SUNW2x in the Oracle documentation is a typo?

Hi Paul - did you ever find out if this was a typo? Thanks in advance.

  • Typos in Oracle Spatial Best Practices doc by Dan Geringer

    Hi there,
    I was looking through Dan Geringer's notes setting up SDO_JOIN to run in parallel here:
    http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/spatial/pdf/oow2010/spatial/spatialoow10_bestpractices.pdf
    Anyhow, noticed few boo-boos all having to do with table aliases in the examples. They are not too hard to catch but still might trip up folks.
    On page 37, the example is missing a table alias of "a". E.g. it should say
    CREATE TABLE result1 NOLOGGING PARALLEL 4 AS
    SELECT a.rowid1 AS risk_zones_rowid,
    a.rowid2 AS parcels_rowid
    FROM TABLE (SDO_JOIN ('RISK_ZONES', 'GEOM',
    ' PARCELS', 'GEOM')) a;but its missing that final "a".
    On page 38, the table aliases are incorrect in the relate statement. E.g. it should be
    CREATE TABLE result2 NOLOGGING PARALLEL 4 AS
    SELECT /*+ ordered use_nl (a,b) use_nl (a,c) */
    sdo_geom.relate (b.geom, 'DETERMINE', c.geom, .05) relation,
    b.risk_zone_id, c.parcel_id
    FROM result1 a, risk_zones b, parcels c
    WHERE a.risk_zones_rowid = b.rowid
    AND a.parcels_rowid = c.rowid;Nothing too serious but thought I'd point it out.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for pointing out the typos. Will forward them to Oracle Technical Doc group to have them corrected.

  • Oracle distributed doc capture - commiting

    hi i'm currently researching on oracle doc capture and oracle distributed doc capture products,
    currentyly i've problem in the commiting feature from the web oddc client,
    after i scanned documents, i click send, (im using text commit profile)

    (i've use c:\odc\commit for the commit folder)
    but there's something in the IIS webcapture clientaccess folder (C:\Program Files\Oracle\Document Capture\WebPages\ClientAccess)
    its a .PAK file name, when i open it in winrar, its indeed the document that i scanned and send from the client.
    but why is it stored in here? what's with the .PAK format, and how to configure the settings properly for storing
    files with its proper format (TIFF, JPG, PDF) in the server ??
    i'm using recent odc and oddc from oracle, in windows 2003.
    any help will be appreciated, if this works, i'll try commiting to ucm (so far it isnt working also)

    thank you ram for your response,
    yes you're right i actually didnt notice there are ODDC service in in windows service list,
    when i started it (not automatically started when installed) the package get "commited".
    ok, now that the service is up, there are new problems here,
    i want to integrate ODDC with UCM, ie: commiting to UCM,
    when i commit to UCM, and check ODDC log, it seems that it results in an error, like this ...

  • ADF UIX table example: oracle.cabo.doc.* missing

    Hi,
    I'm working through the Oracle ADF UIX Developer's Guide and want to try the ADF UIX Table Example. Unfortunately I don't seem to have the classes which are referred to in that example (located in oracle.cabo.doc.demo.table..), which makes it difficult for me to follow and understand the example.
    I've found a reply to a post to this forum of 26-nov-2002 where it is stated that these files were at that moment not yet available.
    My question is: have these files become available in the meantime. If so, wher can I find them?
    Regards,
    Anton

    Clicking on a sortable header generates a sort event. You need to specify a handler for this event. The error you see is a result of the application not knowing how to handle the sort event. On your page you should include something like the following to handle the sort event:
    <handlers>
    <event name="sort">
    <method class="myPackage.myClass" method="doMySort"/>
    </event>
    </handlers>
    For more details, see the "Sortable Column Headers" section in this chapter of the ADF UIX Dev Guide: http://helponline.oracle.com/jdeveloper/help/state/content/navSetId.jdeveloper/navId.4/vtAnchor.Sort/vtTopicFile.jdeveloper%7Cuixhelp%7Cuixdevguide%7Ctables%7Ehtml/

    I had download the online doc,whenever I search a keywords,it was redirect to the www..I wonder if I can search the keywords in local book tab?

    This option is default I think. You can search offline like this.
    Go to the top left corner of oracle documentation home.
    Click on SEARCH.
    On the right corner you will find MASTER INDEX.
    On the MASTER INDEX you can do offline search.

  • Oracle distributed doc capture - database error

    hi all,
    i work at project ( capture , archive ) and i implement the ODDC ( instalation and integration )
    i do all configure include scanning profiles ( the last step )
    then when i do test the system i find that there is no data saved upon scanning and after commit else data in the commit table i build and mapping with the index fields and ECAudit table , but no data in tables like EcBatches and more,
    i see more than one column with type blob ( i mean column in capture system core tables like ECBatches)in many tables ( these tables not contain any data ! )
    i use the evaluation period license
    oracle 10g release 2
    win server 2003 stander edition R2 sp2
    any Idea please ??!!!!!

    its started !!!, but is there any blob field in the capture system usual database ??
    i mean the system database that the capture build it ??? is there any blob field ..... any idea please ??
    what about the check integrity utility is it stable ? what can do for me ?
    i tired with this problem ... any one can help me please ?
    is there any data must add to the database before the commit operation ??
    i dont have any data before and not all tables collect data just the ECAUDIT and my commit tables where the index fields saved i name it ( dbcommit ) with this tables
    database info
    user: capture
    password: capture
    database: capture
    commit table:
    DBCOMMIT
    column name: DataType size description
    PERMIT_ID integer
    DOC_TYPE varchar2 500 ( from 1 to 14 from pick list)
    AREA_ID integer default = 09
    SCAN_DATE date
    USER_ID integer
    DOC_PATH varchar2 500 document path on capture server
    INDEX_DATE Date
    when i do select statment like :
    select * from ECBATCHES;
    i get the error SP2-0678
    its mean :
    The "SP2" error messages are messages issued by SQL*Plus. The SP2-0678 error message text is "Column or attribute type can not be displayed by SQL*Plus." What you probably tried to do is to dump a binary data type, i.e. BLOB, to the screen in SQL*Plus. The problem is that SQL*Plus can only handle text data. It cannot handle binary data. Therefore, you are getting an error message telling you that this data type can not be displayed in your SQL*Plus session. Try your SELECT statement again but eliminate the BLOB column(s) from your query.
    the question is why there is some column type " BLOB " in the table like " ECBATCHES " and the other column is not blob its varchar2 and integer .... and these column empty !!! there is error somewhere but i tired re install it in new machine and database but nothing change !
    any IDEA please :(

  • Utility for handling multiple Oracle instances (docs, changes, etc.)

    Please, remove this topic if it's not appropriate for this forum.
    I handle several databases (up to 50), and I would like to have some utility for handling them in way to have:
    - graphical GUI for their physical location
    - to keep info about all changes that I make on those instances
    - keep info about various properties (DB version, log_mode, last backup, etc, etc...)
    is there such utility (maybe even not from Oracle)
    tnx

    haven't find a useful one, so I'm closing it

  • Oracle 8i online docs web pages not working in IE5.5?

    Up until about a week ago, I was able to browse the online docs for Oracle 8i, using Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2000 SP2. Now, I am getting incomplete web page loads and/or pages that repeatedly reload themselves. I do not experience this problem browsing the same pages with Netscape 6.2 on the same PC. The only relevant change on my PC I can think of was application of Service Pack 2 to Internet Explorer 5.5.
    An example URL is http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/server.817/a76965/c01intro.htm#12981 - this page loads only down to the section "Data Integrity". Other pages exhibit similar behaviour. I don't experience this problem using IE5.5 with any other Web sites.
    I have tried clearing all cookies, cached files, etc. to no avail.
    Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.

    Hi,
    You need to follow below steps:
    1) cd $JAVA_TOP
        2) zip -r customprod.zip. Where the list of all directory paths are present, relative to $JAVA_TOP, for custom application's java files at non-standard location.
        3) Generate & sign customprod.jar file.
    Command: adjava oracle.apps.ad.jri.adjmx -areas $JAVA_TOP/customprod.zip -outputFile $JAVA_TOP/customprod.jar -jar $CONTEXT_NAME 1 CUST jarsigner -storePass -keyPass
        4) Delete temporary customprod.zip.
    Command: rm $JAVA_TOP/customprod.zip
        5) Follow below steps to make the custom jar available for WebLogic
    a) Take a back-up of existing /admin/template/ebsProductManifest_xml.tmp
    b) Modify /admin/template/ebsProductManifest_xml.tmp to add entry for customprod.jar (after customall.jar)
    c) Run AutoConfig
    d) Bounce the Mid-tier services

  • Oracle doc inconsistent on materialize view with union all and self joins

    First of all, I can't seem to create a materialized view containing self-joins AND union all. Is it possible?
    I checked Oracle 9i (my version: PL/SQL Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production) documentation and I get different answers (or so it seems to me).
    First I saw this: "The COMPATIBILITY parameter must be set to 9.0 if the materialized aggregate view has inline views, outer joins, self joins or grouping sets and FAST REFRESH is specified during creation..."
    Did you see the part about 'self joins' in there? I did and I was pumped because that seems to say that you CAN have 'self joins' (and my compatibility is 9.2...)
    BUT
    In the very same document I also found "Oracle does not allow self-joins in materialized join views." (rage)
    You can see the document I am speaking of here: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96520/mv.htm#574889
    Whenever I try to create the mview I get the following error. (

    hai, wouldn't it be great if we had a single document tht listed the syntax and examples of all the built-ins by oracle (forms & reports). do we have a document like tht ? just a suggestion.

    Hi Rehan,
    Again, apologies for the delay in responding to you.
    The Application Server 10g documentation page lists a specific Documentation library entitled "Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services Online Documentation Library 10g (9.0.4)". You can view this library at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B13597_02/index.htm

  • Can Oracle BPEL handle Doc/Lit SOAP with Attachments?

    I have successfully followed the instructions for using Oracle BPEL 10.1.3.4 to handle SOAP With Attachments with an RPC-style WSDL, detailed here:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28981/manipdoc.htm#sthref955
    I have a simple Echo service that receives and attachment and responds with the same attachment.
    I actually would like to accomplish the same thing using a Doc/Literal Wrapped WSDL. My initial testing shows that BPEL can indeed receive the attachment ( I can see it in the dehydration store), but it is not added to the response.
    Is this possible using Doc/Lit with SwA in BPEL 10.1.3.4?

    As I've investigated the issue some more, I've found that the real issue is receiving an attachment on the SOAP response from the BPEL process. Using a Doc/Lit-Wrapped WSDL, I can receive a request with an attachment, and add it to outgoing requests successfully. But when I do a straight copy from the request message to the response message (Echo Service), the response contains the correct "href" attribute but there is no attachment, and moreover, no MIME multipart message is returned.
    NOTE: I was successful in using an RPC/Literal WSDL to accomplish the successful echo of the attachment.
    Also, when looking in the OPMN logs, I see the following line for the RPC-based BPEL process, but not for the Doc/Lit:
    <2009-11-23 13:43:35,684> <DEBUG> <attachment.collaxa.cube.engine> <CXBinaryDataHandler::createDataSource> for binary location=uuid:aaa091d17e1b5545:67c00c53:1252285bf07:-7fc2
    <2009-11-23 13:43:35,716> <DEBUG> <attachment.collaxa.cube.engine.data> <ConnectionFactory::getConnection> GOT CONNECTION 1 Autocommit = false
    <2009-11-23 13:43:35,716> <DEBUG> <attachment.collaxa.cube.engine> <CXBinaryDataHandler::createDataSource> for binary location=uuid:aaa091d17e1b5545:67c00c53:1252285bf07:-7fc1
    and the "binary location" value corresponds with the "href" attribute seen in the BPEL audit logs.
