Tyring to send SMS, contact doesn't show up but it appears on contact list

got my blackberry a few weeks ago. it stopped ringing so the verizon people set it up to where it turns itself off every night for 5 minutes. so far no problems. but a couple days ago, when i send a new SMS, i press the letter for my contact name and it tells me there are no contacts that begin w that letter. it works on some and not on others. i have turned off my phone, took out the battery for a minute and turned it back on. same problem. anyone know what else i could be doing wrong?
also. if i took out the battery, will my settings be the same or will some automatically go back to a default setting? thanks in advance!!

1. A powered ON battery removal reboot will not erase or delete any information from your devcie. It is recommended. A power down, battery removal and back on does nothing for the device. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
2. Open your Address Book > press the Menu key > Filters. Do you see ANY filters checked? Uncheck them.

Thanks for using our forums! While there are ways to get contacts from your phone onto your tablet, the Convoy series of phones is not capable of syncing directly with the Verizon Messages service. It is capable of using the Backup Assistant service. You'll find this option under Contacts in the menu. Once you have backed up the contacts, you can use your online My Verizon account to export contacts to either a Google or iCloud account, which would allow you to access them from your iPad at a later time via sync. Here's a link with some useful information on how to use the Backup Assistant service.

Open Finder preferences, click on the General icon in the toolbar. Check the boxes for what you want displayed on the Desktop. Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar and do the same for what you want displayed in the sidebar.

Hi there! When I read your post, I realized that a clean boot or a safe mode might help. I suggest you read the articles on them if you are not familiar. Click on the group name.
Go to the menu File > Export VCard . . .
Save that file and send it.
The recipient should go to File > Import to import your list.

"My Conversations" SMS contact list has vanished

To send an SMS I have, until this morning, been able to open "My Conversations",....New SMS....and hit the blue "To" button to evoke my contact list. Now all that shows up when I hit the blue "To" button is a screen message that says "No Contacts, (select contact)" but it shows none of my contacts when I know danged well my contact book has 194 entries. The "To" button has simply ceased evoking the contact list to open. So.....here's my question. I've got OS 10.2010.19-1.003,...the N900 downloaded it the night I bought it. Can I remove the OS and re-instal as a means of making the phone "see" the contact list in the New SMS "To" screen? Or is there another fix I could use. Either way, I want to be able to select recipients for an SMS right from the SMS "To" button. It's so convenient !! Help please !!

Tried to install newest itunes, crashed during install, and now crashes my computer every time i try to uninstall. Itunes doesn't show up in the Add/remove prog list at all. tried to roll back over a month, still crashing.

So I tried to update to the newest Itunes. It locked up my computer part way thru the install. Black screen, computer turned itself off. Now anytime i try to do anything with Itunes it shuts my computer down. I can start up fine in safe mode but when i try to uninstall from there, Itunes doesn't exist. the other apple programs do, but no itunes. when i try to uninstall the other programs in safe mode it tells me it can't because the windows installer isn't loaded. I have system restored to over a month ago and itunes still doesn't show up in add/remove programs. however, i can open itunes. it just tells me a file didn't get installed and to uninstall and reinstall. So, how do i remove a progam that doesn't think it exists and crashes my computer when i try to do anything related to it??? I'm out of ideas. running windows vista.

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.

David, not sure to understand your requirement. I have created a free application, Easy Group, to manage group of contacts on iPhone. It will allow you to send an email to all group members. Hope this helps.

Upgraded to the latest edition of firefox, not one of my plugins or addons are now working or showing upp but there are in my lists of plugins and addons

did the update to 3.6.14 on reboot i now have NO add ons or plugins showing up anywhere. they are in my list of downloads and i can updte them if i want but nothing showing on the browser itself

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. SMS inbox doesn't show new messages after upgrading to OS 5.0.0.681. SMS format appears as IM.

My SMS inbox doesnt show new messages and also my Curve 8900 doesnt prompt for any new messages. However, the Mobiso application (which logs calls, texts) shows messages coming in with its text lengths. I asked this to Blackberryhelp on Twitter but it said to contact service provider, but there is nothing wrong with it. The format of the SMS inbox should have something wrong otherwise the Mobiso application should not have logged all messages.
Please help me, i am missing all my daily SMS since last 20 days.
Will degrading the OS help? Which is recommended OS version for BB Curve 8900?

My Bluetooth was working a week ago but it doesn't show up or connect in my bluetooth list it just says still searching for devices, why won't my bluetooth connect or pair again?

The bluetooth showed up in the bluetooth list last week & now it won't even connect to the phone when i turn the bluetooth on to start pairing it just says Searching.

It sounds like your bluetooth is not functioning correctly on the iPhone. I recommend the troubleshooting in this article for the issue you are seeing named:

Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth accessory with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth accessories have a range of approximately 30 feet.
On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your accessory to attempt to connect it.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is in pairing mode.1
Restart your iOS device.

And this troublehsooting from down the bottom if needed:
Bluetooth disconnects, intermittent connectivity, or unable to find
Move your iOS device closer to the Bluetooth accessory.
Position your iOS device and Bluetooth accessory in direct line of sight of each other. For example, move the Bluetooth accessory and iOS device to the same side of your body.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if performance improves.
Check for sources of potential interference and move both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory away from other electronic devices.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.
If your device is still experiencing issues
If the steps above have not resolved the Bluetooth behavior you are experiencing, perform a software restore in iTunes.
If the issue persists after restoring your iOS device in iTunes, contact Apple for support and service options.

ICal in Day view doesn't show hours, but Days for the hours?

Ok, so I have been trying to figure this out but I cannot find the answer. In iCal, I cannot change the hour of a new event. It only allows me to change the min. So I went into the Day view to try and move the events to the correct hours and all it shows is Midnight, Saturday over and over (where the hours should be) and then Noon and then Saturday over and over again. I have no idea why it does this and have searched through the settings and cannot figure it out. Can anyone help me?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First of all try refreshing the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the .plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.
If that is unsuccessful, open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats, and choose, or change the appropriate region. Then check/change the "Times" formats that you are using.

OS X Mavericks Server.app doesn't show site, but default Welcome to OS X Server page

I am completely new to Mac OS X Server.app, so sorry if I sound dumb .
1. I installed Server.app to Mavericks.
2. Enabled Websites service in it.
3. Installed MySql.

5. Created coresponding website to Websites
6. I opened Safari and navigated to my new created website: http://predstavitev.net:8081 and all I get is server's default page.
7. I checked what is the content of my "predstavitev.net" folder on server and found that it actually contains Wordpress installation files:

Check the Console.log for details that might be getting logged there related to this issue.
You're probably using NAT here, which means you'll be using split DNS or using an internal domain and an external domain. (Confusingly, DNS centrally matters with the web client accessing the web site, and rather less so with the web server itself.)
OS X Server itself requires DNS, irrespective of the web server — usual setup is the local IP network (not in 192.168.0.0/24 nor 192.168.1.0/24 subnets due to collisions with VPN connections later, and preferably somewhere "weird" in the 192.168.0.0/16 or 172.16.0.0/12 or 10.0.0.0/8 private IP blocks — pick a weird range for your subnet, not the first few ones that everybody else uses.
To verify local DNS services, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the following harmless diagnostic command:
sudo changeip -checkhostname
That'll require an administrative password, might show a one-time informational message around the use of sudo, and will then display some network information and then an indication that no changes are required, or that there are DNS or network problems.
Do not use .local nor .arpa as your domain. (That works fine for incidental stuff, but network security and secure connections and related underpinnings all expect the servers involved to have valid DNS — not Bonjour.)
Unfortunate, if DNS is actually incorrectly configured, then various services including the mail server and Open Directory and the profile manager all tend to have problems, and all SSL-based security is dependent on proper DNS configurations.
FWIW, I'd be careful with managing a WordPress server, as breached with that Content Management System (CMS) package are common. I'd probably either host the site elsewhere (in the "cloud"), or would configure the WordPress web server in a DMZ to isolate the potential damage arising from a breach. (I use Drupal locally and while breaches with that are somewhat less common than with WordPress, I still lock that down, and still prefer to DMZ that.) With WordPress or Drupal or any other CMS, keep your patches current, too.
