U: drive keeps increasing, and decreasing?

So basically my U: drive keeps increasing and decreasing.. I check it every day, and it says 16.2X (where x is a random number). Usually it is in the 16.2x range... For example: 16.27, 16.29, 16.23 ..etc...  And I check my U: drive everyday.. I understand, that is not a problem, and its normal.
But, today I checked my U:drive, and I was SHOCKED, because now it says 16.5x.. Right now its at 16.52, and I have NOT INSTALLED ANY PROGRAMS.
Where in the world did 300mb of memory come from? Is it because I have been watching a lot of youtube videos?? I dont see how that would take up so much space..
How do I get back to normal which is 16.2x...?

Having the same problem every few seconds it adds a minute to the estimated time. This is really annoying. I'll call apple to figure something out because I need to backup to to icloud since I have a battery issue with my phone!

If you're using an IMAP account, also check your other devices to be sure you don't have some filters or rules set up that either delete or move emails to subfolders. You can see all Emails on your iPad, but displaying the sidebar showing Mailboxes, tapping the email account you are having trouble with (NOT the Inbox, but the section below), then tapping All Mail or something similar depending on your provider.
If the mails are there, they are somehow being moved by one of your mail clients or by a rule you set up with your provider.

If you are seeing daily increases and decrease in your disk utilization (for example it increases during the day/overnaight but in the morning the disk space has recovered what you are seeing is the impact of Tar optimization.
The Tar Persistence manager is the underlying storage mechanism for CRX. Data is stored in append only tar files. This means the when you update a node or property the new values are written to the Tar files, the indexes are updated to point to the new location, but the old data is also still left in the file. This mechanism allows for a much faster write mechanism. So the more you frequently you update existing content in your repository the larger you Tar files becomes.
There is a process called Tar File Optimization that by default is scheduled to run from 2 AM to 5 AM server time. This process identifies all the orphaned data in the Tar files and deletes, there by reducing the size of the tar files on disk.
So if you are in heavy content migration mode, or moving large amounts of content between instances you can see large swings in your disk space utilization as the Tar file balloons up during the day and then shrinks back down over night. In some cases depending on how large your repository is the 3 hours allotted by default is not sufficent to complete the optimizaiton so you may not be recovering all your disk space. During normal production operations this will normally average out over time and the 3 hour window is enough. However during periods of heavy usage, especially during QA or content migration you may find that your tar files are ever increasing in size. If that happens you need pick a period of time over say a weekend and trigger the Tar File optimization to run until complete to recover as much of your disk space as possible.
See http://helpx.adobe.com/crx/kb/TarPMOptimization.html for details on Tar File Optimization.
As someone else pointed out you may also have an issue with your data store which requires a different clean up method.
Another possible culprit is your Lucene index files. Depending on your data model and repository size you can swings in your Lucene indexes because like the Tar File it periodically cleans itself up and large amounts of content change can cause this cycle to become more pronounced.

  • Volume bar increases and decreases normally, but no sound!

I'm having a problem where I can press the button to increase and decrease the volume and the bar goes up and down accordingly. However, there is no sound whatsoever coming out of the laptop, what might the problem be?

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
    2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications/Utilities/ Audio MIDI Setup.app
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so uncheck it.
    Best.

  • My iPhone volume seems to increase and decrease by itself, why

Why does my iPhone 5s' volume increase and decrease by itself when connected via bluetooth to headphones, speakers, etc?

Do you have your Facebook app open when this is happening? Or any other app that gets live Notifications? If so, close them when listening to music. The Notifications being pushed to your device will lower the volume momentarily as they arrive.

  • Headphone Jack Problem - Volume Increases and Decreases Randomly

Hi, has anyone encountered this problem?
Whenever I plug in earphones the volume increases or decreases without me even touching the phone. It also disconnects alot whenever the earphones are moved.
I have already updated my phone to the latest software and also did a factory reset however the problem is still there. I guess the headphone jack is broken, guess I will have to send it in for repairs

You can either return it to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Increase and decrease a numerical text layer over time

I need to create a text layer with a numerical value that will range from 0% to 100% over time using key frames. I need the value to change over time, increasing or decreasing the percentage based on key frames. Any ideas? Thank you!

Add a Slider Control effect to the text layer, which you use to keyframe the percentage, then use this expression on the text layer's Source Text property:
    effect("Slider Control")("Slider").value.toFixed(0) + "%";
The value in toFixed(0) controls the number of decimal places.

  • External hard drive keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting

External hard drive on Time Machine, running via USB keeps disconnecting. Get the pop us that the drive wasn't disconnected properly. This Mac is brand new as is the hard drive. It is a Seagate 1T Free Agent.
After a minute or two it reconnects. I've run Seagate diagnostics and it says the drive is fine.
    Any suggestions?

See #A1 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for a handy widget that will display the backup messages from your logs.
See what that shows; there may be a problem with the backup, which results in TM ejecting the drive. If so, the disconnect may be a symptom, not a cause. If so, see #C2 there. If not, or if you're not sure, copy and post them here.
Also, to rule out other USB problems, disconnect everything but keyboard and mouse; connect the drive directly to your Mac (no hub).
Make sure all connections are snug and secure.
Try other ports, cables, and combinations of the two (a plug that works fine in one port may not make good contact in another one, and throw intermittent errors).

  • Storage increasing and decreasing

Hi. Im using macbook pro retina 15" . Yesterday morning before shutting down my mac, 110 gb storage available. After a few hours, i re start this mac and i noticed the storage available only 90gb. Then, at night, my storage available was 100gb. Now only 90.9 gb available. I did not copy or download anything on my mac. Is it a problem or normal? This is not the first time it happen. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

It's probably due to local snapshots, then. If you delete a number of files, for instance, local snapshots will 'keep' those files on your hard drive for exactly one week. After the week is over, those files will actually be deleted from your local snapshots.
To read more about how this all works, see Pondini's - What are local Snapshots? - and - Where did my disk space go?
    Good luck,

  • Java memory (RSS) keeps increasing and then hangs JVM

    Hi ,
I have a java process running on Solaris , I keep noticed that RSS keeps growing over the time and when it reached around 1.6g then JVM gets hang. It is 32 bit vm ..
And when JVM hangs it dosent throw any OOM and CPU usage is also normal, but after getting hang i am not able to connect Java process with Jconsole/visualvm.. Even thread dump is also not allowed. This scenario re-occurs in 12-13 days,
I looked into the heap memory, but heap memory dosent grows and is near about 100m for old gen.
Apart from this when i took the heap dump, file size is just 28 mb, why the dump file size is soo less?
Please tell me how get this solved.
    Thanks in advance

If you are eating runtime errors somewhere then you wouldn't get a OOM.
    Native code can consume memory.
If you use a lot of memory and use GC command line options (or maybe even without them) then the GC can end up blocking everything.
