U2 20G is getting a weird error

It has been acting up today so I brought it home to "restore." It is now telling me after i hit the "restore" key that "There was a problem downloading iPod software to the iPod. The requested resource was not found." Click on OK and nothing happens. I think I may have toasted a hard drive because I was getting an error message on the iPod earlier with the dreaded unhappy iPod graphic. Thought?

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

This is not a weird error... This is Java HotSpot... It comes when java is unable to continue run and it has to Exit. Like in windows you would have seen error box when program terminates.
The posted trace is from a windows box.
Java HotSpot generely I have seen because of Too High CPU usage (and memory too). Java does not get enough resource to run... Please check your code where is the Loop which needs high resource... try to refactor that code...No.
Standard general causes of this.
- Use of JNI or a third party library that uses JNI
- A combination of video drivers, video card and fonts. This one is less prevalent than it used to be.
- Bad environment, memory, installs, programs, etc.
- Bug in the VM.
Presuming in your reported case that none of the other causes applied then you found a bug in the VM. That doesn't mean that anyone else found the same one.

• Keep getting a weird error message in AE CS4

I keep getting this error message concerning a few of the files in my Project bin:
I get this message multiple times when I open this particular project and repeatedly click "OK" until the project finishes opening up.  The result is missing files.  When I go to replace the file with the proper file which it already should be anyways it pops up this error message on me again.  What does this mean and why are my files not able to be in AE?  Sometimes they are and sometimes not.
I can drag the same file into the project bin and it will work fine (but I have to go through the trouble of putting it back in the correct spot in the layer stacking order in my compositions that use this particular file).

Hi, still having this problem.  What's weird is it's intermittent.  I'll go to open the project one day from the same drive hooked up the same way and it will work and then the next day, without even having imported anything into the project the previous day, it will give me the error and I'm screwed because there's so many files that are "missing".  I tried renaming a long file name with only 10 characters in the finder and then replacing the file in AE and when I hit OK it gave me the same exact error message.

• When installing iTunes 10.5 64bit on my win7 64bit computer I get a weird error message.

This all started when one day I plugged in my iPhone 4 to my iTunes 10.4 on my PC (win7 64bit) and I got nothing. I got the connection noise and my phone started charging but it would not show up in iTunes. In My Computer, it sees that I have an iPhone plugged in but shows it as a Camera, not a phone, and I am not able to see anything inside said "camera". At this point I decided to clear everything "Apple" off of my computer and manually install iTunes 10.5. Mid download i came across this error message that I have no clue what it is telling me. After clicking "OK" it then tells me "rolling back session" and then tells me that "Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." Since getting this messag I suspected that it was an AMD (apple mobile device) issue. AMD seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall/delete from my computer... At this point I'm giving up and looking for advice/help on this issue.
Im lead to believe that it is an AMD issue because iTunes 10.4 reads my iPod Shuffle perfectly but wont read my iPhone 4 or a friends iPhone 3g.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this!! Any help would be greatly appreciated because I dont want to reformat

Hey donovanjj,
Thanks for the question. Let’s try to recreate your SC Info folder:

• I get a weird error message when I boot up the computer

Every once in a while when I boot up my computer it gives me an error message that says:
"Your computer’s clock is set to a date before March 24th 2001. This may cause some applications to behave erratically."
But my clock is not set to an old date/time. And when I go into the date/time settings to check, they are always set correctly. Why am I getting this message??

it could be logic board problem (just a guess at this point and not a conclusion), unless some software setting changes date/time as was suggested.
logic board is the main electronic board inside, containing processor, video chip etc., it also includes the chip controlling real time and date.
it is possible that the time chip is failing for some reason and it can't be replaced on it's own - the whole board may need to be replaced.
if the iBook is out of warranty it will be to expensive and probably not worthwhile just for the clock problem.
if it's in warranty (1 year from purchase date or 3 years with AppleCare warranty) any authorized service provider will get it fixed:
http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service.html
you can look up the warranty here by entering serial number for the iBook where it says "About Your Support Coverage":
http://www.apple.com/support/
also someone may have other suggestions on software causes.

• Should I reformat my mac? Getting a weird error.

First of all, my 2012 15" rMBP on Yosemite 10.10.3 runs perfectly fine. I have very small issues here and there but it's rare. Every few months I do repair disk permissions and do a verify disk thing using the disk utility though. I don't remember the last time I actually verified the disk itself, maybe a year or so ago. Anyways, today during my rare check up, it said that I in fact did need to repair the disk, and I needed to restart the computer and go into the disk utility during the restart. Easy enough!
Well, upon running that process for a few minutes, I get this error...
Once again, my mac runs perfectly fine right now. Haven't had any issues. I backed it all up today too so I do have a very recent backup. Is it worth me reformatting the disk and restoring my files if I'm not having issues? Does this error somehow spell doom for my mac or something? Rather confused that it's asking me to perform such a serious task considering things are running well and have been for a while.
Or should I just make sure I make backups pretty regularly and wait for something to actually happen before I reformat?

Eventually, they may. Do as instructed. Backup the drive. Boot from the Recovery HD:
Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should install the version of OS X that you had installed. You can restore your data from the backup.

• I'm getting a weird error message:

I just installed zonelabs antivirus, and ever since then I get this error message when I try to open iTunes:
The iTunes Music Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.
I've set the user priviledges to high for my login, and it still doesn't do anything. Help!

If you disable zonelabs software, does iTunes run OK?
There has to be a way to tell that software not to scan or lock anything in the iTunes folder. But, I don't have that software....best to check on their website, maybe.
Tell it to leave this folder alone
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes

• Getting a weird error in Report Writer Report(ABAP Reporting tool)

Hi Guys,
If anybody has worked on Report Writer Report. Can you help me in this regards?
There is a peculiar problem for the (Column block) .In the Column block there are 3 key figures(Quantity,Local Currency and Group Currency).
Of these in the output of the Report Writer Report the Quantity Column is not getting summed up properly.Though the other 2 columns(Local Currency and Group Currency)are reflecting the proper summed up data.
According to the tables, all of them are reflecting the accurate data. But only for the Quantity column though its reflecting the actual data, but the summation for it is not reflecting the correct data.
Can anybody tell me if we can attach screen-shots for Questions posted in Forums?
Please help me in this regards.

Hi James,
Thank you for your quick response.
I checked the report and the remainder functions is not being used.
The only formulas being used in the report are the following.
UpperCase ([1])
+ ", " + - This is set to @name
{@name} + " (" + + ")"
There are some formatting formulas set on the above values, but other than that, there is a sql query and the "select distinct rows" and "perform grouping on server" is selected.
Thanks,

• Trying to generate a form twice and get a weird error message

Hi,
I installed the last version of Designer and Oracle Database 10G on my computer. Everything seems to be fine. The next thing I did was to unlock the HR schema in the database and capture it in Designer.
Now I "design" a simple form to display the table REGIONS. If I generate the form, it works fine (I have few warnings). But if I try to generate again, I got the following message:
Form Generator : Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Build 10.1.2.6.18) - Production on Mon Nov 09 15:02:12 2009
Copyright (c) 1995, 2005 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved
Generating Module 'MODULE_01' (1 of 1)
An internal error has occurred, context and traceback follows...
Last CV function: cvfqgv
Last CV object: Module MODULE_01
Current preference object: Module MODULE_01
Last function recorded: cgen45() :633
Repos container name: HR
Repos module name: MODULE_01
Generation Complete
Also, if I close Designer and go back in and try to generate, the form is generated without errors.
So I would like to know what is the meaning of this message and how I can fix the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help
P.S. The order in which I did the installation, in case there is a relation with my problem, was:
1. Designer
2. Database
3. Include the database in the tnsnames.ora of Designer
4. Repository

The problem is you are using LDAP for connection instead of Database Authenication.
Designer is not certified for LDAP connection and this is only the first of a long list of problems you are going to have using LDAP

Agreed; Since the FX-5800 and up GPU's Require up to 7 Amps from the +12V Rail, then Yes 16 Amps is Very Light indeed , Dont Forget your P4 CPU under Stress (Gaming) Can require up to 10-11 Amps, combine that with the 7 Amps that your GPU May Require, and you are Over your +12V Rails Power capabilities...You should have at Least 20Amps on your +12V Rail, and because you are a Gamer! You should Have one of the Better PSU's Available that have 30 Amps + available on the +12V Rails. ie Enermax 465W or Antec 480W..............Sean REILLY875

• Constantly getting kernel crash errors

Hi,
I have a Power Mac G4 Gigabit Ethernet with 704MB RAM, dual 500MHz G4 processors and 16MB VRAM and it is running Tiger (10.4.11) and I keep getting that weird error that says "You need to restart your computer" on a black dialogue with a giant power button in the center. I believe this is a kernel crash message and it's getting very annoying. I have to keep hitting the restart button or force the computer to shut down and I don't like doing this. Will my computer be harmed if I do this? Why is it doing this? I think it may be related to my really cheap USB WiFi card I have installed cause that's when it first started. When I pulled the card out (cause it wasn't working correctly) and popped it back in then I got that message a few seconds later.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I checked the log and it does say a few things about USB so maybe it is that. I posted the log below so you can double check. As long as it's just that WiFi card then it doesn't matter since I already ordered a new one (PCI 802.11g). But, will I have to reinstall my OS now that I got so many kernel panics? Do those mess up my hardware or software?
Here's the log: (note that this isn't the whole log, just the last two crashes since it would take up too much space to paste the whole log.
