U2 Songs of Innocence

So I have read that U2's new album is available to everyone free on their iTunes account, and it should already be in their music catalogue.  However, I can't seem to find it.  How do I access this?

  • I still haven't received my free U2 "Songs Of Innocence" album.

Not long ago, iTunes said that everyone would receive a free copy of U2's album "Songs Of Innocence". Yet, I still haven't got it. How can I fix this?

It was added to everyone's account a couple of months ago - though since 13th October it's no longer free, but I'm not sure if that means for iTunes accounts created after that date, or if it also applies to existing accounts that hadn't downloaded it prior to then.
Try ticking the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tick box on the Store tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) - it might then show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against it for downloading.
Or go to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage and you might be able to download it from there.
Or the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option might download it.

  • U2 songs of innocence booklet not downloaded, what can I do?

I can't get digital booklet of U2, Songs Of Innocence to download, any suggestions?

I have iTunes Match turned on and the Songs of Innocence album
appeared in my music library without the digital booklet listed. I was unable to download it from the store. I successfully downloaded it by:
    1.  turning on 'show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases' on the Store tab in iTunes > Preferences
    2. Going to the iTunes Store homepage and clicking on “Purchased” under the “quick links” on the right side of the page
    3. Clicking on "albums" near the center top of the Purchased page
    4. Clicking on "All" near the upper right corner of the Purchased Page
    5. Clicking on the icon of a downward arrow in a cloud in the right upper corner of the Songs of Innocence album cover. This downloaded all the songs and the digital booklet which could be opened from within my music library.
When I first used the quick link to go to the "Purchased" page, the "Not in My Library" button was selected in the upper right corner of the page. I could not download the songs by clicking on the cloud icon until I selected the "All" button in the upper right corner of the Purchased page.
I then deleted all the songs in the album from my iTunes on my computer, but kept them in the cloud, so that they would not take up space on my Mac Book Air. I only kept the digital booklet on my Mac. I love iTunes Match.

  • I attempted to purchase u2's new album - songs of innocence at the itunes store. The icon says "purchased" yet I am quite sure I have not purchased it. There are no songs in my library nor is there any record of the purchase in the account history.

Everyone was given the album. It was a gift from U2 and Apple. You can go to purchases and download it to your device.

  • Vulgar image on music album "Songs of Innocence"

When I select Music, I see an album "Songs of Innocence" which I did not purchase.  The image is vulgar an I can not find a way to hide it.  Any solution?

  • Songs of Innocence not appearing anywhere

US iTunes store user, valid account, iTunes v11.4. Songs of Innocence is not showing up
    - in the Purchased tab in iTunes.
    - in the Music tab under Albums, or under U2.
On the promo page in the iTunes store it says "Purchased" and doesn't allow me to click it to download.
On the album page in the iTunes store (where it lists all the tracks) it says "Purchased" and doesn't allow me to click it to download.
I have tried logging out and logging back into my iTunes Store account.
I have checked "Show Music in the Cloud" under the View tab.
I have gone to "Check for Available Downloads" under the Store tab.

After ticking the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tick box does it not then show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against it for downloading (downloading the booklet for it this way may not work, you may get a 'corrupt file' message when trying to open it) ?
If not then try going to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage and you should be able to download it from there.
Another option is to sign out of your account (Store > Sign Out menu option), find the album in the store and then click on its free 'price' button - you should then be prompted to sign back in and the album should download.

  • Can't remove u2 songs of innocence from music app

I have an ipad with ios 8.1.2. I was able to remove the U2 album from my itunes purchases using the Apple app but cannot remove it from my music library. I have gone to Settings and deactivated Show All but this leaves four of the songs and the album cover art. I have attempted to manually remove by swiping left but this doesn't work as I get a message saying I can't do that because the song wasn't downloaded. I manually created a playlist but that doesn't get rid of the U2 stuff from the songs, album, and artist tabs. How do I get this music and album cover art out of here?!! Not only do I find the album art offensive myself, but if my elderly parents see it, they will be totally shocked. I find it disappointing at least and extremely upsetting that Apple would force their music upon customers. Please find some permanent fix to this problem. And what can I do now to fix it (i.e., remove songs and album cover art)?

Apple are not here. Try feedback or contact Customer Support in your country.

  • How do I listen to U2 Songs of Innocence?

It has disappeared from the library but in iTunes Store it says that it has been bought (köpt), and still I can only listen to previews.
    Also all songs are "bought"
    Regards

I have the syncing option unchecked, that is why I do not understand why it is trying to sync.
I am also trying to play songs off my iPod via iTunes.
I also don't understand why I need to have the same songs on my PC if they are on the Shuffle. My songs are on my external hard drive... which I don't always have turned on, or with me for that matter. I certainly don't want to be hauling a hard drive around with me wherever I travel to. I want to be able to copy a small number of my favourite songs onto the Shuffle so I can carry the Shuffle and the laptop around with me and listen to them.
    I need to be portable!!!

  • How to remove songs of innocence from playlist after deletion?

I have deleted the album via the apple link but it still shows in my playlist. I have turned off the show all music function and i still have the songs. i haven't downloaded any of them and when you try to click on them they don't play. so what should i do?

When you say "playlist," do you mean your iTunes library (on your computer)?  If so, this question is not related to your iPod nano, is that correct?
Or maybe you have an iPod touch (5th gen) with iOS 8.1?

  • How do I delete the Songs of Innocence album?

I downloaded free material that I would like to permanently delete, including the referenced U2 album, Beatles/Four, and a Coldplay single

  • Cannot download U2's "Songs of Innocence"  from iTunes

I go into iTunes and go to Purchased the U2 title in not present. I looked up the Album in the store it states it is Purchased.  I have attempted to click on the Album icon that will very briefly cause the album properties to change from 'purchased' to 'Free' and attempt to prompt the download that way.  I have had no success.  Any other thoughts?

Hi. None of the above solved the problem for me. Instead, I had to go (in my iphone) to adjustments, then to Itunes store & app store, and there uncheck music and videos from showing up (even if not on the iphone), uncheck automatic downloads (for music), and I did check "use mobile data" for automatic downloading.
After that, I went back to the itunes store, and the free download button reappeared.
    hope it works for you,
    regards.

  • Songs of Innocence

How do I remove this awful and unwanted U2 album from my iPhone5?

You should be able to hide it from the cloud via your computer's iTunes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
(If you want to stop all music that is only in the cloud from showing in the Music app then turning Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music 'off' should do so.)
You can't permanently delete any item from your account's purchase history, but you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can/will remove the album : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

  • I have not received U2 Songs of Innocence

None of my devices, nor my library have received the free U2 album.

Like me, you probably went to the page for the album in the iTunes store. When you saw the status as "Purchased" you went to your iTunes Library but it wasn't in the Recently Added or Purchased lists.
    Try this:
    Go to iTunes Store.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
    Under Features, click Purchased.
Select the Music and Albums buttons (if they not are selected already.)
You should see the album there. Click the download icon on the upper-right of the album art. (It looks like a cloud with a downward arrow.)
Click Library on the upper-right of the screen.
Select Music from the drop-down on the upper left.
Go to Playlists and select either Recently Added or Purchased. Or just search for U2 using Search Library.
That was my experience. I hope it works for you.
